So Season 2 went up on Netflix a couple of weeks ago, and I finished watching it last night.

This show is awesome. I can't wait for the 3rd season!

I love the mouse, but am developing some wrist pain, and am not interested in having it develop into full-blown carpal tunnel, so I'm looking to sell the mouse and trying a trackpad instead.

It's almost brand new, only used for a month. Comes in the box with everything (booklet, USB dongle and USB charging cable).

I take it you aren't on a free upgrade type of contract or upgraded to one of the new contracts in which you pay less unless you get a new phone, ravenii? Otherwise, you would just be paying your cell service provider for a new phone that you aren't take advantage of. I can't imagine still using a 4s! If there was a cheaper way, I would be tossing my 6 for a 6s.

My 4s was unlocked and I'm on a pre-paid plan. So no contracts or anything like that. When I upgrade I plan to pay the full price up-front. No interest in going back to a contract or the yearly upgrade plans.

The iPad Pro is a insta-buy. I'm still rocking an iPad 3, which is struggling a lot lately. As the iPad is mainly my bed-side (and couch-side) computer, a bigger screen to watch Netflix on would be awesome. And the keyboard would make it a lot more useful.

The Apple TV is a tentative-buy. It has a lot of potential, and if the app store takes off like it has for iOS and watchOS, it'll become an insta-buy.

Ironically, the one thing that I own that desperately needs to be upgraded... won't be. I'm still rocking an aging iPhone 4s, but it's still doing the job I need it to do, so I think it'll stick around for one more year.
6  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone here drinking or drank Soylent? (bonus: want to try Soylent 2.0?) on: September 09, 2015, 03:58:47 AM

There's a little contest for 24 bottles of the new Soylent 2.0 -- enter if you'd like to try your hand at getting it early:

(disclaimer: yes, I want to win, and yes I'm a bastard -- if you enter via the link above, I get more entries -- heck, even if you're not interested, do a fellow GTer a favor and enter anyway -- you can use a throwaway email address! Pretty please?)
7  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Kickstarter] Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Castlevania successor) on: June 12, 2015, 03:16:33 AM
Well, what do you know. Bloodstained has just surpassed Torment: Tides of Numenera to become the most-funded video game in Kickstarter history. It's currently at $4.5 million and going upwards fast. I thought the $5 million stretch goal was a, well, stretch, but with only ~$300,000 to go, it's looking like they'll blow past the goal by tomorrow's deadline.
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Kickstarter] Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Castlevania successor) on: June 10, 2015, 10:05:52 PM
The game keeps sounding better and better. I was finally convinced and slammed down $60 $125 to back my very first Kickstarter.

With less than 3 days to go, I'm hoping this bump would remind/convince some of you guys to back this project -- it sounds awesome, and I'd love for it to reach the 4.5 million goal (the prequel mini-game)!

Aside from certain minor points, the storyline was excellent.

Poor old me am stuck with a 4s. And I'd stick with it for another year if the Watch supports it... which it doesn't.

The oldest iPhone that it supports? The 5. So I'd like to buy one.

So... all you people upgrading to the 6/6+... got a 5 you'd sell?

I've never understood the need to monitor your caloric intake to this degree or to know exactly how many steps you've taken in a day.  Does this information somehow make you lose weight?  Don't most people who are trying to keep fit have a general idea of whether or not they've consumed too many calories or not exercised enough?
However back to the Vessyl.  This seems like a pretty big waste to me.  Most of this information is already on my fitbit page (not to mention the side of the damn can).  They have a huge database of food you can look up already and it auto inputs everything for you.  I drink a can of soda, I just add it on the page and all the nutrition info is already there.  It is definitely NOT worth $200 to me to have a cup save me that 5 minutes of time.

It's $100 now smile

And re: measuring, I present Soylent.
Also what I'm learning, if you want to be healthy , the only drink you should be putting in your body is water.  That's a pretty easy drink to track...

Again, Soylent.

I don't get it, I know what I am drinking. If I need nutrient info I just look at the package. Sure it's neat, I just don't understand what it's supposed to do for me.

It keeps track. Surely you know what a hassle it is to track, either mentally or manually, all the calories and nutrients you drank throughout the day or week?

28  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Vessyl on: August 05, 2014, 11:03:05 PM
What do you think of the Vessyl? All kidding about $200 cups and reading labels aside, this is a really cool tech -- it basically knows what you put in the cup, and knows what you drank. It also tracks how much calories, nutrients and water you consumed. Hard to believe they can achieve this.

Going to be perfect with Soylent!

(Disclosure: the Vessyl link above is a referral link -- if you buy one, I get $10 slywink)

yeah, I've never understood the drive to buy a phone full price either unless you travel out of the country a lot.  Otherwise, you pay the same monthly rate I do as a subscriber but paid more for your phone.  I know it's due to the companies not wanting to cut profits though.

Actually, I use a out-of-contract phone and paying $35 per month for unlimited everything. Is that the same price as your in-contract plan?

I generally keep my phone for 3-4 years, so it balances out in about 20 months, then it's pure savings after that.

31  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Calculus on: July 10, 2014, 05:52:48 PM
Prior to taking Calculus:
Work through Practical Algebra and its follow-up, Geometry and Trigonometry for Calculus, by Selby. Those two are simply amazing books that will get you completely up to speed, with a deeper understanding than you thought possible.

Then during taking Calculus:
Make use of those resources: -- this will take you though approximately 2/3 of the class with amazingly simple and understandable explanations of the concepts. You should also buy his Humongous Book of Calculus Problems -- it was immensely helpful for me in Calc I and II. -- Paul's Online Math Notes. Also an indispensable aid for all my Calc classes (I, II and Multivariable).

You'll thank me later.

I have a Dell U2413 monitor. I'd like to connect my PS2 to it.

Unfortunately, unlike older Dell monitors, it doesn't have component input. However, it has a HDMI input, so I'm wondering if any of you would recommend a HDMI cable for the PS2? I know VGA most likely won't work because it only works with games that support progressive scan.

Do you have a PS3 and/or a good gaming PC.  Basically trying to figure out what level of exclusives to recommend.  Red Dead Redemption is the standout console exclusive game having no PC version, but if you had a PS3 you could have played it there for instance.

Gaming PC: an fairly capable one.

PS3: nope. Will move on to that once I'm done with the 360.

What is your list?

Disclosure: I just got a Xbox 360 on the cheap, and am basically playing catch-up. smile
