I've only played about an hour but it seems to have a bit more soul than KZ2.  Absolutely no issues with controls any more.  MP doesn't work yet but I played a bot match and it was pretty fun.  There seems to be only couch co-op support, no online co-op?

How did you get a copy already?

Turned it on about 20 minutes ago, let it stay at the menu and left the house for a few minutes, came back and the artifact / lines across the screen were on again, completely frozen up. (But no yellow/red lights - ps3 still has the green light and is able to eject the disc.)
Will backing up to a USB hard drive also save all the games and downloadbale content I bought on the store? (We're talking at least $500 worth of stuff! - That includes all my PSP games as well though.)

My sons PS3 did the same thing for 2 weeks before the HD finally failed luckily it was still under warranty and Sony Took care of it and put a new HD in for him.

Also, it may still be logical. I'd boot off a CD just to be sure. There is also a method to watch your bootup progress (f8 during startup), and it may be something as silly as a video card driver load that is causing the failure.

The first thing I was going to suggest swapping / testing is the power supply as Thin_J suggested.  It may be that the power supply is overrated, and after all these years handling the peripherals is tasking it. If you don't have an available PS, try disconnecting EVERYTHING (USB, DVD drive, blah blah blah) to just hard drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor.

If you want to test the heat, try powering it on 15 times (from a cold start) and see if the crash time reduces. If it doesn't, I think you can worry about your paste later. If you suspect memory, try running with one stick of memory( and test both).

Best of luck, and bring us the results.

I've had that memory problem myself when 1 memory stick went bad.  icon_frown

SPM and stats don't really mean that much I've been playing pure TDM lately and enjoy it more because no kill streaks and no perks mean just pure gunplay. It's funny when you get players in the game and they don't have their killstreaks and perks and just quit because they suck without them.

PS3? eek

get your own thread  icon_razz

Yea, think I am only one on the forum that has a PS3 and no Xbox...

So, I just butt in the threads and sort of talk to myself most of the time on the console forum, heh...
You are not alone.  We have had it bad on ps3 since black ops launched.  Patch 1.03 made something bad worse.  I have not even tried since 1.04.  Too discouraged.  As much as I love the CoD series (bought mw1, w@w, mw2, black ops and all map packs), I'm at the point where I may not buy another one unless they run a beta to iron this garbage out before release.  I swallowed the hook, thought treyarch was going to step up to the plate with IW gone.  Wishful thinking.  Though about buying it for th xbox or pc, but why reward them with another sale?
Consider this: guerilla is running a beta for Killzone 3.  They're a Sony first party developing a system exclusive and they are beta testing online multiplayer.  Activision/treyarch were so arrogant to not feel the need to test the xbox port they delivered to ps3 gamers.

How many connections can that router support?

Nudging the ball is very key to pinball right up there with learning to cradle the ball with both flippers and shooting it where you want.

Hm, I know how to trap the ball with a flipper.  I'm not sure what you mean by cradling it with both flippers...

I've tried to use the follow the ball view, but that just gets me dizzy - I believe I'm using view 5 now ( can't remember - will have to check later ).

I can only use view number 6 because playing multiball I have to keep track of the upper playing field and the botom at the same time.

with most views I've tried, as soon as I get multiball, it zooms out ( like view 6 ), and then when I inevitably lose the extra balls, it zooms back in.

That's funny because the view 6 I use is the zoomed out locked one that way I always see all of the playing fields.

They will be coming to FX2 I think after the Marvel release.

someone had said not to expect those tables any time soon.

Someone on the Zen forums talked about mars and Paranormal coming to FX2 I'll see if I can dig it up.

how do you up the multiplier on that table?  (and grats on such a ridiculous score ping)

This is from the Zen forum I never go for the multipliers myself seems like a waste of time. Really too risky to go for the species target imo.

First, hit the new species targets on the right side of the board (fairly easy if you're willing to not advance the rescue sub).
Second, load the ball into the left plunger through the left drain (a little harder to do consciously but still straightforward).
Finally, perform the skill shot on the flashing species.

This procedure strikes me as kind of hard, but I haven't seen how significant the multiplier will be (I'm paused right now after activating 2x for the first time) and you do get 2 million for the skill shot. I'll be going for this for at least my next 10 games or so, just to see if my final scores improve considering the increased risk over just hitting the ramps.

ETA: I should note that I never really paid much attention to the new species area; it appears to be one moving target, so it looks like you have to hit it twice to activate the left plunger (once to light it up, second activates).

Even if someone is sprinting I can barely hear them. In previous titles I practically had a proximity sensor and x-ray vision. I'd be happy with a middle ground because right now my close quarters game sucks. I really need those footsteps to counteract my sloth-like old man reflexes.

I usually play with my headphones on and could barely hear any footsteps before hope it's fixed. I could hear people reloading if they were very very close though.

So, on Biolab I'm getting better at getting a skill shot using the shake-the-table method.  But mostly, when it comes to pinball, I just hit the ball.  Do you guys stick with one table and learn the mini-games?  Basically I'm look for tips and tricks smile

The key to getting high scores on Biolab is to get the multiball going and go up the ramps to get the jackpots. Thats what I did all game long when I finished with I think over 350 million can't remember the score right now.

I have to respectfully disagree with Hiccup on his opinion of the last assault rifle G11. For players (like me) that thrive on burst weapons, the G11 is by far the best weapon you can get. The attachments do are not very good, but iron sights are all you need.
Remember that i only recommend this weapon only if you do well with burst weapons.

I have to agree with Kato I picked this weapon up off someone I killed just to try it out as a burst weapon the accuracy is amazing.

I'm assuming from your statement that Ghost Pro hides you from Gunships. I know Ghost doesn't. I was on freaking Nuketown yesterday and a gunship was chasing me all around. Man, what a great game, dogs and gunships.

I'm thinking that Nuketown must be the smallest TDM map. It's almost too small, but it's playable. I just wish I could get my team mates to not rush forward all the time, which allows the enemy to spawn behind us. It's like MW2's Salvage map. I got into the habit, if we spawned on the snowcat side, to stay in there.

I actually like it when my team rushes on that map I stay behind and rape the other team when they respawn I got a triple kill that way last night lol.
