Quick question...and I'm not meaning to go off-topic here, but a couple of folks in this thread have compared this to BFME2.  I tried the demo for BFME...and found it to be just another same-ole', same-ole' RTS.  I didn't really see any innovation between that and RON, or AOE or anything else.  What did I miss?

Actually thats kind of a bad comparison because in coh you can use cover and flanking the enviroment is totally destructable oh hes hiding in a house level it  taking cover behind bushes burn the bushes down with a flame thrower unit.

I'm a bit late to the party.  I downloaded the demo from the PC Gamer disk.  It looks like a great, fun - if tactical - game.  I'm very tempted to buy it, even though I don't much like RTS games.  I tend to quickly lose interest in them (though I liked Medieval: Total War).  I only have two complaints.

1.  It's awfully fast.  I don't have the dexterity to keep up with it.  It's hard.  I've played the Carenten scenario through 3 times...and only on the last did I get the Medal (with 15 seconds to go).  Part of the problem is that my defenses were rather effective, which blocked the bridges.  People couldn't get around the burning tanks to attack me.  Then, of course, I get hit with the artillery...and things get very ugly at that point.

2.  The demo runs like a dog on my system (AMD 3.2, 1G RAM, X1800 Pro video card).  It's not so bad when the action happens, but the load times are horrendous...I'm talking minutes here.  Now, to be fair, the demo says it's not optimized.  But I'm wondering if those really do speed up on the real release.

Now I'm not likely to spend $50 on this game, especially since I won't play it multiplayer.  The single player scenarios aren't worth $50 for what (or so I've read) is about 20 hours of gameplay.  But it has captured my imagination like few prior RTS games.

your specs are better than mine and I have no problems running the retail version you also know you can use the pause button?

The games will suck!  I can't see it.
Control is a gimmick! So was the second screen on a handheld
I'm lazy. It's too much work to actually move!  Uh?

It's too easy. The problem is that some people in here can only see one side of the Nintendo coin (Get it, coin! Threw that in for Mario!).

The games will suck:
The games won't suck, but will this version of Mario Kart make me want to spend $300 to play over the last 48 versions? Nintendo always goes back to the well. When Sony does it with the PSP it's a port. When MS does it with a sequel, it's just another Halo. When Nintendo does it, they've somehow magically captured the greatest point in anyones life and displayed it neatly on your SDTV...again.

Control is a gimmick:
When you look at the DS. REALLY look at it. 75% of the games could be done with one screen and no touch. I have the games, I've seen it.

Too much work:
Think about this for a minute. Could you, at least envision a time where you didn't want to flail around your living room to play a game? Could it get tiring at some point depending on the game?

I'm getting a Wii on DAY ONE but just like the DS, you really need to come to grips with the fact that it may not be the greatest thing ever placed on earth OR even the greatest video game system you can buy in 2006.

You got some really good points there and that controller if I want to work out I'll go to the gym could get old flipping and wailing to play a game.

Also there are demos.  I'm really looking fwd to it, and I don't even like RTS games.

I was awesome at Gemfire, Ghengis Khan, any 3 sagas game, Uncharted Waters and it's sequel New Horizons(one of the best Pirate games evar!) Yeah I'd say you've got some good ones, you need to find PTO as well and some Shonobunga's games as well.

Yea new horizons was awesome I lost alot of hours playing that game.

I have not discussed this recently with TML, but I believe our original idea was to start either one week prior to or the day of the regular season. Roster update will certainly come, but I think it makes little sense to wait on the off chance that EA delays it quite a bit. If we play with inaccurate rosters for part of the season, so be it. Anyways, hopeflly TML will decide shortly.

I'm ready to go anytime guys just say the word icon_biggrin

I've played both versions of the demo.  The 360 version looks much better to me.  Plus the controls on the 360 are much more intuitive in my opinion.  I may be in the minority, but I liked the Saints Row demo better.

I'm with you will be picking up Saints row this week just cause a rental at best.

Wow, I knew we were getting close to breaking the DVD9 format's 9gb limitations, but this close?

Schneider offered some distinguishing stats (which he called MTV News on Tuesday to further clarify). The game, he said, currently takes up 22 Gigabytes of memory on a Blu-Ray disc, the new disc format supported by the PS3 that is one-half of a VHS-vs.-Betamax format war erupting between tech companies throughout the year. While the music and vocals in "Resistance" take up only about 1 Gigabyte of disc space, graphics, level data and programming code occupy most of the remaining 21.

"We're going to fit more on a Blu-Ray disc than you could on an HD DVD," he said, referring to the competing format, which in its most basic discs can't hold more than 15 GB. More numbers: 40-player online matches at launch; 60 levels of player progression while playing online; two-player offline co-op. Phillips promised better, deeper support than any Xbox Live launch title.

All those claims I'll believe it when I see it 40 players multi right lag city.

Connect your 360 directly to your modem, ie, bypass your router entirely.

Try playing then.  If it doesn't work, it's a problem with some combination of your modem, your 360, your ISP, and/or XBox Live.

If it works, well, the 360 hates your router.

My brother's 360 is connected to a router which serves two other computers on top of the 360.  Chromehounds will sometimes thrash and whine and cause drops from XBL, but it's not in any kind of pattern or frequency that would suggest a problem.

Sorry I took so long to respond. You nailed it. I removed the router out of the picture and all good! icon_biggrin So, I wonder if that is the same fix for you Calvin. What`s your setup like? I`ll check back sooner this time, and thx for the help guys. I thought it might be that but since the router is on the xbox360 compatible list...and it worked fine with my original xbox... saywhat. So who knows. I`m looking into updating my router too, even though the firmware updates disappeared from dlinks site...any ideas there?

What dlink router model do you have mine is the DI-604 I believe.
