Downloaded the Demo and played through the first and only demo mission "Foundries and Forges" with the Mage. Interesting twist on the tower defense genre.
I tryed the same mission as the squire and the first 99% was easier than the Mage but I could not kill the Ogre and actually failed as the Squire. The blockades do little to no damage and the Ogres club attack keeps it outside the range of the bouncer traps. The best weapon I found was about 18 or 20 damage with an upgrade and the Ogre has 5,000 hp. Whats the strategy for defeating the Ogre as a Squire?
The other classes are not available in the demo so have not had a chance to try them yet.
I forget how the squire plays at the low levels, but if you have access to the harpoon, you want to place it behind your blockade or bouncer. Also, you can add some dps by attacking the ogre from behind so you don't die in two hits. The squire used to be a powerhouse class, but the nerfs to his towers hurt a lot. Most people play as the other classes. If you have a mage and monk, you can complete most maps.

Yeah, there are a lot of impatient jerks that kick players without saying anything. That's why I play with my friends or solo.
I do agree that the loot system is really weak. At least everyone is rewarded on boss levels when the boss is defeated. You automatically get an item deposited into your item bank. Also, once you start upgrading your items, items that are better than your item won't have the green dot or arrows because the game bases the upgrade on your current item level rather than the base stats. So you could potentially miss out on an upgrade if you don't compare every items that drops. On insane difficulty, you usually won't have time to stop and look at every item that dropped.

Yeah, lots of idiots online who don't know etiquette. Had someone kick me for picking up crap items before they disappeared.
Actually, you don't want to pick up every item because when the combat round starts, all unpicked up items get automatically converted to mana and divided among the group. So you are hurting other people by picking up items that aren't an upgrade.

Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Help me build my new gaming rig
|
on: October 29, 2011, 07:01:16 PM
|
|
So I finally have the money to upgrade my gaming rig and I want to do a complete new build. I prefer Intel and nVidia components. I started reading about the different chipsets and features and it's too much to sort through so I need some help!
Here are my guidelines: I am planning to spend about $1,500. Again, I prefer to stick with Intel CPU and nVidia GPU. Also upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit. Don't need a monitor right now, just the system.
Thanks!

Ok I have a question that I can't seem to figure out, how do you access the cases you solved to replay them again? I didn't see any menu options. Do you have to solve all the cases for the department first?
As soon as a case is finished, you have an option in the main menu called "Cases" which takes you to a place where you can select any finished case to replay. You don't access it from the start menu. The only thing I can do after a case is finished is it the 'A' button to close it. I don't have any options to select it seems. I just finished up all my traffic cases so far.

The PC boots fine, it just crashes when he plays WoW and only after he starts up from a cold boot. I replaced the SATA cable when I installed the new hard drive.
Another thing that was weird as when I did the speed test for the hard drive from the device manager. It was really, really slow. Not sure what else I can install or what I need to adjust to fix it. I didn't see any BIOS options to set for the hard drive.

Okay, so a week after installing the new hard drive, he is getting blue screen errors when playing WoW. The original error that the old hard drive was giving is back. I did a fresh install of Vista 64 on the new drive. I'll list the specs of the PC:
Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI Video card: GeForce 8800 GT x2 (SLI) RAM: I'm not sure what brand it is, but I think it is Corsair and it's 4GB
I know for a fact that the old drive has serious issues, because when I plugged it into my PC, I would get lock ups trying to access the drive. The thing that drives me nuts is that the new drive is getting this error. I installed the lastest motherboard drives from Nvidia and I can't figure out how to stop these errors from coming up.
We've narrowed down the issue to come from when he uses IE and then starts up WoW, it crashes after 5 - 10 mins of playing. But when he reboots and goes straight into WoW, no crashes for hours on end. Any suggestions?

Well, after failing to install Vista, I noticed that the BIOS and Vista both were not seeing the HDD intermittently. If I unplugged the SATA cable and plugged it back in, the BIOS would see it, but then the Vista installation would fail to see it again and upon reboot, the drive is again missing from BIOS. I tried replacing the SATA cable with a new one, no change.
At that point, I decided that it must be a hardware issue and went out and bought a new HDD. Installed the new HDD with no issue. New drive is a Seagate Barracuda 1TB with 32 MB cache. Old drive was a 120GB Western Digital Raptor. I think the 10k RPM makes these drives more susceptible to failure since this was the second drive that died on me in a few years. Oh well...

My brother's PC is having some issue where it won't boot up. I tried booting from the Vista CD, but it is not loading. There was one BSOD where it said "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and an error about "nvstor.sys" so I tried looking these up on Google. I saw similar issues, but nothing where the PC will not boot. My brother said the last thing that happened was a Windows update and then it locked up. Now, it will not boot.
Any suggestions on how to get the Vista CD to boot so I can reinstall it?

How come no one has come up with the most obvious answer? It's an alien! With all the UFO sightings lately, I wouldn't be surprised that they are coming back to see how we progressed!

I second wonderpug's recommendation for bone-in Boston butt (the term butt is for the shoulder "butting" into the rest of the pig). The bone helps to regulate the temperature of the meat and adds flavor as well. There's a recipe for bone-in Boston butt in the current Cook's magazine. You start with a salt and sugar rub and let it sit overnight. Then pop it in the oven to roast. I can provide the recipe if you can't find a copy of the magazine in your area.

So I got my wife hooked and we're RAFing it up.
At low levels (before 60? before 70?) are DPS builds for tanks and healers still viable in instances? We don't do every instance, but would like to do some, and I'm wondering if I can spec DPS yet still tank or heal competently. I know you can't do this at 80, but for the time being duoing PvE with a prot pally ain't as fun as I imagine ret would be.
It depends on your class, but for the most part, you could get away with it. If you are a paladin tank, just having Righteous Fury will keep agro on you. Might be a little tougher for warriors or druids. As for healing, again depends on class, but you also have the option for dual talents which allow for a healing spec and dps spec.

How soon after cooking can I rinse this thing out with hot water? So far I've rinsed it out right after use. Oh and I use a nylon brush, not a metal wire brush so it should be okay.
Overall, despite there being more steps with the cast iron to use, it's a little faster overall to cook with since I'm not scouring burnt in carbon off it after every use, something I can't get right with the older non-stick pans I used before, weird.
Did you properly season your pan before you started using it? Once you develop the coating, you really want to avoid too much water or scrubbing. Check out this link for some tips: http://www.epinions.com/review/Lodge_12_Inch_Cast_Iron_Skillet/content_130615709316

I'm just about to graduate from culinary school, so I'll chime in with my professional opinion. I'd say go with a flat iron skillet since you can do more things with it versus the grill one. If all you want to do is grill burgers and steaks, then the grill pan is the better choice. But you can even cook some pancakes in the iron skillet if you so choose later on. As for what to use on an iron skillet, there are good quality heat proof rubber spatulas you can get. I don't like using metal, because you can stratch the pan even iron skillets. And for mixing, if you can't do it by hand, you should really get a stand mixer. The handheld mixers are too weak and break easily. I wouldn't recommend buying one. If you have any more specific questions, feel free to PM me. Good luck and happy cooking!

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need some advice on suit shopping

Well, my grandmother passed away yesterday and I find myself in need of a suit for her funeral. Not sure where I should go to get a decent suit that will last me for a good price. I hope to spend under $300 and I live in the Los Angeles area. I read a couple of articles online, but there is so much info out there that I need help getting the best info.
Thanks in advance!
