I read on NWN vault that the beta patch is supposed to fix some Vista graphics problems. Does anyone have Vista Home Premium 64 and can play NWN2?

I hope that NWN2 doesn't create a registry key that has the settings, because hacking the registry is a pain. frown

I installed NWN2 on my brother's new PC with Vista and set the video settings up and now it won't load properly. Anyone know how to reset the settings so I can try again?

Edit: Modified the topic with the hopes someone with Vista 64 has some input with running this game.

If you go with Samsung, you should definitely look at the 71F series. They have this amazing Auto Motion Plus technology that looks amazing. It displays the screen at 120Hz and clears motion so there is no blurring at all. My brother and I saw this model (http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/features.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LNT4071FX/XAA) at Best Buy and were completely blown away by the picture. They had Pirates of the Caribbean on Blu-ray and, just, wow. It's a bit pricey, but it was really nice.

I read the book right when it was released several months ago. It helped immensely to gain insight into the current game story. You basically understand the whole story between Captain Anderson and Saren and most of the events that lead up to the game. I highly recommend reading the book (it was excellent) before playing the game.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I just finished Mass Effect last night and reading the book before playing the game really made the game much more enjoyable. When the learn of the 'twist' in the story line towards the end of the game, it totally blew me away.

I was simply blown away by the facial animation in this movie.  The eyes didn't look soulless and dead like you usually see in CGI stuff - just wow.  We saw it at the Cine Capri which is about a foot wider than the IMAX, but with far better seating.  As Keith said - not exactly the pinnacle of storytelling, but overall a decent flick propelled by some incredible CGI work.

I wish the CineCapri wasn't so far away from where I live or I'd go see it there. I saw the 3D format down at the new theatre out near Queen Creek. Man, the digital 3D really made this movie!

293  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Weird monitor issue on: November 22, 2007, 02:08:57 AM
Hey all,

I just bought a Samsung SyncMaster 932BW 19" widescreen monitor and I'm having some trouble configuring it. It has a max resolution of 1440x900 which I have set in my display properties. The monitor though, does not have the entire desktop displayed. It scrolls left and right so the full 1440 horizontal pixels are not displaying but the 900 vertical pixels are displaying. It seems like the monitor is stuck at 1280 instead of displaying 1440. I am using the DVI input and the auto configuration doesn't work for DVI. I'm at a loss. I also installed the drivers for XP.

Any ideas?

Cool, thanks!

Spoiler for Hiden:
I chose the path to help the Squirrels and I chose Shani over Triss. My ending was a wrap up of the events on a "painting" and the end cut scene showed Geralt taking his reward money and then saving the king from an assassin. The assassin's identity gave me the WTF? moment. Did you guys get the same ending cut scene? And what path did you guys take?

How do you add the little spoiler button? I want to ask others who finished the game what path they chose and what ending they got.

Dear Customers,

We realize many of you are experiencing a variety of problems. We at Flagship and Ping0 are working hard to address these issues.

Our current top priorities are:

* Resolving any remaining problems related to billing and subscriptions.
* Fixing two known bugs which cause players to sometimes lose items (one related to dual focus/dual melee, and one related to loading issues).
* Making improvements to memory usage in order to reduce "Memory Exhausted" crashes.
* Fixing a known issue with the user interface which causes the application to lock up intermittently.* An issue which occasionally prevents characters from being able to load or switch instances.
* General chat interface improvements. (Many improvements are in the works).
* Random disconnects and lag.
* Allowing higher resolution textures and models for other players.
* Various known problems with being able to continue interrupted side quests.
* Remnant quest items not getting destroyed and "clogging" up inventory.
* Continued problems with saving / loading Engineer Drone items.
* Invisible party members.
* The nanoforge not correctly improving rare and better armors.
* Getting stuck on collision.

Some of these are issues which will be fixed as soon as possible and go live in upcoming patches, some will be in our upcoming content patch, and others are issues on which we will make gradual improvements to on a continuous basis.

Of course we also have a more extensive bug list as well as lot of general improvements and new content in the works. Everyone here is
working full-time to support Hellgate. We appreciate your patience.

299  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anyone else getting tired of the bugs in Hellgate London? on: November 12, 2007, 04:46:17 AM
I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the huge Hellgate post, but is anyone else getting sick of the bugs in this game? It's worse than it was in beta!

For example, have you guys run into the issue in those multiple zone quests where you zone into the next map only to not see any of your party members? This is a major pain in the ass since the whole point of multiplayer is to stick together and this bug makes it near impossible.

Also, I'm getting really tired of the game locking up after 30 mins of playing. There was a terrible memory leak in beta and instead of getting a crash to desktop in beta with the error message saying no more memory is available, it just locks up! Sometimes it's a hard lock where I have to hit the reset button.

And lastly, there are annoying bugs with the quests in multiplayer. The one that stands out is the one where you have to use the sedative on Lord Meilmight (or whatever). My party member completed the quest, but I'm sitting there unable to use the sedative. I have to log completely out and redo the quest.

It's things like this that is starting to make me regret getting this game. It seems like multiplayer was an afterthought since so many of the bugs are stemming from multiplayer play.

Anyone else feeling like they got burned too?  icon_mad

If you buy it via digital distibution is it possible that you get the version speicific to you area based upon credit card address. I'd really like the UK version of this as well, but I'd be worried that I might end up just downloading the NA cut version.

I'm such a glutton for punishment.  Why am I a Giants fan?  Why am I a Mets fan?  Why am I an Islanders fan?  Why?  Because I love stress.  I love disappointment.  I love the feeling of not having a guarantee to make the playoffs every year like some teams have.

I swear if I were a Patriots/Colts/Cowboys/Rangers/Red Wings/Yankees/Red Sox/Braves fan I would probably end up living a few extra years due to less stress throughout my life.  These are teams that although don't win it every year seem to consistently win.

I took my son to the Giants/Packers game this past Sunday.  It was his first NFL game ever and my first since I was my son's age (10).  We were sitting right on the field in the end zone, first row just to the left of the goal post.  Unbelievable seats!  We were literally only yards from several of the players.  This was a treat for my son and I.  We came close to catching a wide field goal kick by the Packers Crosby during practice since our seats were just to the side of the netting.  I have never been this close to pro athletes before.  It was something both he an I will remember forever despite the pitiful outcome.  You know those Mastercard priceless commercials?  Well my son's expression when he first saw the football field and when he saw our seats right on the field was absolutely priceless and something that will be ingrained in my memory for the rest of my life.

That's really cool, Starshifter. I remember the first time I went to a football game. It was back when the Rams were in Los Angeles. Great memories. smile

It depends if you have high quality AV equipment and if you want/need the better quality cables. If you have optical sound output or coax output, that is better than the red and white audio cable. Then you should look into getting one of those cables.

Hope that helps.

That is going to be almost exactly what my rig will be (replace GTX with GTS) when my CPU arrives Tuesday (ZOMG FINALLY). The EVGA board is, according to most reports awesome.

So you ordered your CPU, Calvin? Which did you get?

Edit: Hehe, I need to read more carefully. So you got the E6600, I see.  nod

Yeah, got it from newegg. They cleverly dropped their prices right after the UPS/Fedex cutoff line, so it won't ship until Monday-however, newegg's distribution center is so close I will have it Tuesday. I was vaguely considering the 6700 but when it didn't drop I decided to just do it. I am going to make a big post out of my entire upgrading adventure, so be ready smile

That's cool. I was thinking of sticking with the E6400 to save money, but the E6600 is only $39 more. Oh well, it's money well spent. smile

I think at this point the performance and overclocking potential of the 6600 makes it the clear choice in that range if you have the. I mean, its 40$ bucks, and you get a fast chip and a great overclocker. What else are you putting into your new build?

I posted my wish list in my post, but here's my wish list:

https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=5905128&WishListTitle=New+system

I already ordered my RAM since I saw the $50 instant rebate and there's a $50 mail-in rebate. That was the Crucial Ballistix RAM 2GB kit. And I got my Zalman CPU cooler. But the rest of what I want to get is on the list. I'll probably put in my order later this afternoon.

Great list of parts man. I have some general concerns about Crucial RAM and the possibility of them just frying out on boards, but the Ballistix is an awesome kit and supposedly is blazing fast. The P5N is also a great OCing board. I almost went with it but was a little concerned about some stability and RAM config problems, but it seems like its the "classic" powerful OCing board. Basically, I am pretty jealous of your list!! You spent a bit more than me and went with the Raptors and the DDR2 1000 RAM (I got DDR2 800) but overall that looks great-also, that BGF card is supposedly the next best thing to the GTX. Its lightning fast for a GTS-pricey, but apparently worth most of the pennies! I am curious you went with the Zalman over the Tuniq (which I ended up with) any particular reason?

Well, for one, it is out of stock.  Tongue Actually, I just noticed that when I replied to your post. smile Anyway, I didn't do too much research on the heatsinks. I just went with Zalman due to brand name. At first, I thought the Tuniq didn't come with a fan which concerned me, but I guess I misread the description somewhere. Anyhow, the Zalman was in stock and had a $10 instant rebate. I'm pretty happy with my parts list without going over my budget. smile
