4401  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / New Tupac Album This Year, Petition For Original Recordings on: October 28, 2004, 05:15:00 AM
Like I said, unless you guys are saying its O.K, not to me but all the visitors however many thousands of them there are, that we can go ahead and say things like that which, while it may not be a direct attack, indirectly offends someone, then you should throw out a warning. Otherwise, don't be surprised if someone makes a thread about his or her father's heart condition and you get a random reply "fuck your father", cause if your not against it then you are condoning it

Based on your example, there's a huge difference between the two, one is a personal attack, while the other isn't.

There's no ban on cussing on the forums, we do not encourage it, and we ask that people would restrain from using it, but it's not something that mods are going to search every thread for and make sure nobody is using it.

I don't think Engine09 purposely said that to offend you or anyone else, however maybe he should have used a different word to describe a similar feeling.

If a post like Engine's has insulted me, which I've made clear, don't you think you should probably make a point about it?

Warning and I both made a point to try to watch the language because it could offend somebody.

f#ck Tupac.

While this wasn't a personal attack towards anyone on the boards, some people find that 4 letter word offensive.  Generally we ask that we keep the swearing to the minimum.

CG staff asks that we try to restrain from using excessive profanity out of respect to others.

They do this because ABC knows CBS has CSI NY on next.  They also know if you miss the first 5 mins of CSI there's no reason to watch.  So by delaying the ending a few extra minutes will screw people up.

I gave up on watching the "Stay tuned for next week's episode".  I'm sure I'll see a commercial for it sometime in the week.
4409  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Only 1 Important Rule for the Sports Forum on: October 22, 2004, 08:15:41 PM
As a moderator I only have 1 rule (besides the CoC) that must be followed or dire consequences will happen.

Do not say bad things against my 49ers. [/u]

If anyone disobeys this commandment, I will personally see to it that all your posts will be deleted, and your password to be given out to all members on this board.  God help you if U2K gets a hold of it Tongue

Well, I think the inventory is based on the distrubution center's inventory.  Remember Netflix has several distrubution centers thoughout the US.  So your center might have it in stock, while the other place doesn't

4414  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GTA: SA - What Rockstar Doesn't Want You To Know on: October 20, 2004, 04:20:41 AM
Quote from: "Mike T"
I think that's unlikely, the game ships in less than a week.  No way they could get new packaging redesigned, printed, and in the factory for  processing in time.

The simple explanation is that it's Rockstar's intellectual property and they didn't want unauthorized use of it on the web before they chose to have it on the web.  Anyway, that's my take.

Ya I just realized that after I watched the trailer.  Didn't know it was out so soon
4415  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GTA: SA - What Rockstar Doesn't Want You To Know on: October 20, 2004, 02:34:06 AM
The only thing I can think why they are having a fit, is that they don't want it announced because maybe they are having problems with co-op mode, and if they can't get it fixed, they would just pull it and nobody would know the difference.  Now that the picture is out,  and people know of a co-op mode being in exisitence, there will be an outcry if they cut it.
4416  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Jerry Rice Trade Rumors on: October 20, 2004, 12:49:02 AM
Largent gave the Seahawks to let Rice have his  #.

Rice has always been vocal when things are not going his way.  I can totally understand why, his streak was in jeoporady.  At least the 49ers always gave him a chance to keep his streak alive.  Of course the worst franchise in the world can't even respect that.

(Hope I am doing this politics thing right. smile if not, just please let me know. )

I am sure we have all heard about it. A media company is requiring all 60 of it's stations to show a negative documentry about Kerry's post war actions. I think it would be safe to say it's anti-Kerry.

Republicans are saying it's only fair, after all M. Moore did a whole movie about it and the normal press is anti Bush (some GOP spokesman said this on CNN, I don't have a link).

To me this is obviously different. These are public airways and the owner of the company in question is blantantly pro-Bush. I don't care if they do show it, I just think they should just F911 right after the other documentry. Each should get equal public air time. Otherwise what happens next? Every public media owner shoves their political views
down our throats?

They are playing F 9-11 the night before the election on PPV.  Seriously
4426  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Kitchen Bitch on: October 14, 2004, 01:52:44 AM
The Kitchen Bitch

A mother was working in the kitchen listening to her 5 -year-old son playing with his new electric train in the living room, on Christmas morning.

She heard the train stop and her son saying, "All of you sons of bitches who want off, get the hell off now ... cause this is the last stop! And all of you sons of bitches who are getting on, get your asses on the train...cause we're going down the tracks.

The horrified mother went in and told her son, "We don't use that kind of
language in this house. Now I want you to go to your room and you are to
stay there for TWO HOURS. When you come out, you may play with your
train...but I want you to use nice language."

Two hours later, the boy came out of the bedroom and resumed
playing with  his train. Soon the train stopped and the mother heard her son  say... "All passengers, please remember your things, thank you and hope your trip was a pleasant one. We hope you will ride with us again soon."

She heard her little darling continue..."For those of you just boarding,
remember, there is no smoking in the train. We hope you will have a pleasant and relaxing journey with us today."

As the mother began to smile, the child added, "For those of you who are
pissed off about the TWO HOUR delay, please see the bitch in the kitchen...."

I think I'm going to start a seperate thread.  There hasn't been much activity over the weekend on it.  I do not know how much was added on Thursday (before GG died) so I don't know if it was slow on that too.  We could just be out of questions.

I'm wondering if the thread being stickied is hard to find.  But then again, there's been over 200 views over the weekend, so who knows.

Here's the help/advice thread...

Don't read too much into things.  Stephen warned us ahead of time that he was going to be busy-beyond-reason for a while on a Big Project (TM) not related to the site, and would likely be hard to get ahold of.

I'm just saying we've been hearing that for the last two years biggrin

Eduardo X, gellar, kratzer, and several others know the deal as they hang out in IRC and are well aware. I'm sure they'll show eventually.

Haven't seen Kelric yet either.

Gellar and ATB been before the death of GG.

Kratzer probably won't join because he thinks he's better than everyone else biggrin

Wish I knew what happened in between.  Didn't think they would come back frown

From what I heard (as I wasn't watching the game, just sorta listening to it at work), the 49ers started their comeback on a 70+ yard kickoff return for a touchdown. After that, they scored another touchdown AND got a 2-point conversion with about a minute left on the clock (tying the game)

Then I started watching the game in earnest, as I hate the Cardinals (even though I live in AZ). smile

Cardinals try to come back, but after losing 9 yards after their QB gets clobbered (nobody in the defense even touched the guy), they punt. Then the 49ers take the knee.

The 49ers got the ball and pretty much just walked down the field. One field goal later from about the 30 yard line, and the game was over.

Nice blow, Cardinals. Losses like this show that you truly are the worst team in the NFL. It's too bad that the voters are so goddamned stupid that they voted to make you a nice new stadium for your shitty selves.

Actually that 71 TD return I saw, and that gave them 12 pts, and they missed the 2pt off that TD.  I'm missing the TD after that.  I walked in on the tying TD/2PT conversion.
