3801  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Halo 3 reviewed on: September 24, 2007, 03:50:53 AM
I watched the gamespot video review, and the one thing I noticed is the AI doesn't seem to smart.  There was many instances where they are just sitting around in a corner not even reacting to you.  I hope that's not the case.

Ok Raiders win by using the same tactic as the Broncos (calling a TO before the Fg). So I don't want to be hearing from the few Raiders fan how cool and tricky they were, when last week they were crying poor me, and complaining about the same play that happened against them the week before.
3803  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: NFL Week 3 on: September 23, 2007, 11:40:06 PM
Well, I just got back from Lake Tahoe this weekend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, so I stayed away from football until I got home.

Watched the niners take the opening drive, and they looked great. You could tell their play calling was much better from the previous games and didn't look as conservative. They kept up that style, unfortunately, the defense couldn't handle Big Ben nor their special teams and eventually let the game get away from them.

They took Gore out of the game early on, and they mechanically picked away at the Niner's D.

One thing I do have to say and it changed the momentum of the game for the 49ers, was the rediculous call from the refs in regards to Vernon Davis' catch. How in the world can they claim that it was an imcomplete pass. Looks like to me, they didn't know what to do, and just called that incomplete so that nobody can benefit. That's my only complaint of the game. Overall I don't think it would have mattered too much, but I think at that point is when the niners lost it.

Merry Christmas.

Like I said in your thread, I didn't realize that other games like Forza2 and Dirt were posted in the console forum.

I honestly don't see what's so difficult to distinguish what's a sports game and what's not.

Had I noticed at the time that Forza and Dirt was posted in the console forum, I'd move those too.

Now that the sports forum will probably be removed, I'll move this thread, and merge with Ridah's.

my apologies, I never noticed Forza and Dirt being in the console forum.  Had I known at the time, I'd move them too. Or I would have kept this thread in console.  When I saw this thread, I thought about nascar being in the sports forum.

We haven't been told to not move them, and there really hasn't been any discussion other than the meta forum.  I thought it's business as usual until told otherwise.

Since 1998, the 49ers have never been 2-0, until today.
Talk about two ugly wins. Doesn't matter how many weapons you have, the niners finds ways to win. Wow Bulger had a great time against the Niner's D, he was hit at least 11 times and sacked at least 5 times. Olando Pace is sure missed.

Note to Rams, when it's 4th's and 1, instead of trying to strip the ball, try to tackle instead. Thanks to your ineptitude, Gore ran it at least 40 yards for a TD.

Next up, Steelers.

3813  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Mr. Woodcock on: September 15, 2007, 07:52:06 PM
Erin graduated from college this summer and one of her gifts, she recieved two movie tickets and dinner at chili's.  We don't go out much so it was nice to have a date night and not have to worry about $$$.  Earlier this month we went to see The Nanny Diaries, and it was actually was funny, and had Scarlet Johanson, so I didn't mind going dispite it being a chick flick.  Erin is a Nanny and she had read the book, so it was especially fun for her, she could relate to what happened, and she got to compare the book with the movie.  She said it followed pretty close to the book.

Well we went out again yesterday and she didn't see anything that interest you, so we used her gift card to see Mr. Woodcock.  After seeing the previews the past couple of weeks, I wanted to see it.  Based on what I saw it looked funny, and I kept imagining the scenarios it might have, however in the back of my head I had a nagging feeling that this was going to suck.  I forgot to check on the reviews, and boy I made a mistake.

Basically what you saw in the previews were the funny parts.  They missed horribly on some of the gags.  Like when Stiffler dips Thornton's PE whistle in the toilet.  They show him blow on the whistle later, but the audience wasn't rewarded with Thornton's reaction.  There were some funny moments, but most were chuckle worthy.  Everything felt held back.

The quotes from RT are pretty dead on.  I guess being 87 mins long, I should consider myself lucky.  About 30 mins into I told whispered to Erin, this movie is slow and so far sucks.  It never did improve.

While the movie blew, we enjoyed our time together at Chili's and the rest of the day.

Awesome.  While the game was bad overall, at least offensively, both teams defense did well, and more important, the young Alex Smith led his team from behind with 3 mins to go.

man what a high scoring game!  I kid I kid.

Man it's sloppy, mainly from the Cardinals, but niners need to wise up. They are lucky the Cardinals keep moving backwards due to penalties.

Joke passed along from my Brother-In-Law

A woman visited her plastic surgeon who told  her about a new procedure called "The Knob," where  a small knob is placed at the top of the woman's head and could be turned to tighten up
her skin and produce the effect of a brand new face-lift  Of course, the woman wanted "The Knob."    Over the course of the years, the woman tightened the knob, and the effects were wonderful, the  woman
remained young looking and vibrant. After fifteen years, the woman
returned to the surgeon with two problems. "All these years,
everything has been working just fine. I've had to turn the knob many
times and I've always loved the results. But now I've developed two
annoying problems: First, I have these terrible bags under my eyes
and the knob won't get rid of them." The doctor looked at her closely and said, "Those aren't bags, those are your breasts." She said, "Well, I guess there's no point in asking about the goatee.

Well, the landlord called today and told me that the water bill is now set to his name, with my name on the account as well. Apparently the previous owner never stopped service, and they continued to pay for the service the last 8 months. So now the water company is going to credit them for the money they spent, and now they will have us pay for it.

I'm thinking they didn't realize this till now, which is why I got the warning. I don't know how much the bill is yet, we're waiting on them to figure that out. But I was told they are willing to set up a payment plan. It shouldn't be more than $300, I'll probably just pay it up front to get done with it.

So after spending a week at Avila Beach (near Pismo Beach in CA) I go to check the mail.  As I come back up the porch, I notice a flyer attached to my door handle.  It's the water company telling me to call them by 9-04-07 or the water will be shut off.  I found that strange since I've been paying them since January when we moved in.... or at least I thought I did.

It turns out we never set up an account.  I honestly thought it was part of the  utility bill that we pay for sewer and storm drains.  So now I called my land lord to call them up and set up an account.  I asked the lady how much money are we looking at, and she told me there isn't anything due, which I'm sure she has to be wrong.  We're talking 8 months of non-payments.

They take 20% off if you rather have cash. However, as far as store credit goes, the rule of thumb is you get about 50% back for your games unless it's a new release.

That's not how the guy explained it, and I had him confirm what he said.  He said it's store credit.  Which is fine with me.

What does achievements give you?  When I first bought the xbox 360 I thought it will allow you to use those points to buy extras on the market place.  Then I find out, that's not true.  So what are they used for, besides bragging points?

Wow, $35 is a heck of a deal.   I might take a couple PS3 games i was looking to get rid of and trade 'em in for that general price, especially since i hate dealing with EB as well.

What do they do if you get trade but don't find anything to put the trade towards?   They put it on a gift card of some kind?   Got a few new things i'm looking to grab in a few weeks, but my BB is really slow to get some of the newer titles in.

Anyone dealt with this in depth and know exactly how it works?

the money you receive towards a game is store credit, or gift card.
3836  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Console game trade ins on: August 23, 2007, 12:41:41 AM
Ok, this may turn into a steals and deal topic, but it's not my intention.  If it goes that way, I'll move it.

In case you don't know, Blockbuster now sells console games.  They also take trade ins.  Being newly inserted in the console scene, I've been considering selling\trading in Forza 2.  Usually I don't like going to EB or Gamestop to trade in, because I thought you get crappy deals.  My question is what do they typically give you?

For example Blockbuster will give me $35 for Forza 2, is that comparable to EB games?  I was suprised when they listed the trade in value.  I was going to sell it for $40 shipped, so it's close to what I wanted.  I'll likely do it, but I was just curious what other similar stores offer.
