Have any of you super smart types gone into the .ini file to see if the speed can be tweaked?  I am excited to try the game, but I am ascared of the super fast pace some of you are reporting.

Can you handle BFME 2 alright?  Or DoW:DC?  I'd say if you can handle those on normal speed (esspecially so for BFME 2), you should be alright.

If you can handle DOW, you can handle anything.  This is actually faster than DOW.  Which I thought would be impossible.  What made DOW to frantic was all the unit upgrades, there was too much baby sitting.  I haven't played skirmish on C&C3, but based on the missions, units and building are super quick to build.  There really no downtime.  But if you a veteran to the RTS genre, you should do fine.

+1.  Some people take shit way way too seriously, just because I can afford a $15,000 Gas Grill, doesn't mean I am not a damn fool if I spend that on one!  You'd think religion was involved if you looked at it like an outsider.  icon_wink

There is your post of the week ladies and gentlemen. Damn well said Kobra.

 icon_lol

Ok, now this thread is funny!

Why, because someone thought Kobra made an excellent point?  icon_confused Maybe if some folks here would stop trying to nitpick every little thing Kobra said, they would see that he is an intelligent person more than capable of contributing to the forum. He's right though and makes a very valid point.

I just don't understand the reaction to this video from the PS3 fanboys.  Even Tebunker said himself the video was inaccurate and to not take it seriously.  It was more of  a satire.  Yet, they still get their panties in a bunch.  As someone else said, if someone made a video of the xbox 360 and all of it's problems, I too would think it was funny, and hell, it's even more accurate Tongue

Maybe it's easier for me to see it, since I don't own a console as of last year.

As I have mentioned previously in another PS3 vs Xbox360 vs Wii vs Whatever, just accept it as a joke.  It seems like as soon as something like this is brought up, the drama breaks out and everybody is at each other's necks.  This seems very similiar to the politics threads were one thread brought out the worst in everyone.  Sadly, it ended up with the banning of the entire genre of this subject matter for a predetermined time period.  *Sigh*  crybaby

Sadly the same people are the ones causing the drama.

Ok, for those who have a non dual core CPU, have you noticed any improvements on performance from the demo to the retail version?

Whoa whoa whoa, I don't know what game you've been playing, but BFME2 is way faster than DoW.  Buildings went down LIKE THAT.  It was crazy fast.  So fast I didn't even have time to micro my units.

While BFMEII's buildings went down quickly, the gameplay itself was no where near as fast and frantic that DOW was.  C&C3 looks worse than DOW3, just based on the videos.   I just remember having a hard time keeping up with DOW when it first came out, now it's not as bad (gotten used to it)

Let's not take our pants off yet.  It could still be a crazy tank rush.  I think it'll be pretty solid though, I'm putting all my hopes on Greg Kasavin.

God don't tell me that, if you do, he will penalize the game for its lack of originality and its basic lasso and rush functionality and deliver us a sucky product smile Ok lame joke-but I sure as hell don't think a first time game dev is going to contribue a ton of awesomeness to his first project.

But yes, if the demo looks tank rushy, I might have to wait for a price drop. I am willing to go fast paced and frantic so long as there is at least an elment of micro or rock-paper involved. And we will play together Hiro-san.

One thing I always pegged Greg as was a big RTS junkie.  IIRC, he was a huge Starcraft guy and was all about C&C too.  And when he left, he said he was going to a company that "knew how to do RTS right" or something like that.  Now, EALA obviously isn't that company, but still, his association with it gave me a big ray of hope.  It'll dash pretty easily though.

I'd have the same reaction if Tom Chick was making an RTS.

And if you like fast paced and frantic why'd you bag on BFME2  finger

Because BFMEII wasn't a fast paced action game.  It wasn't slow either, but certainly not fast pace like the DOW series is

and on the other hand the pro-ps3 people have been taken many things way too personal as well.  Both sides were equally as bad.  Lets get back on topic, before Ron enables a "User Ban" Mod smile

And yet, they continued with the contest, and disregarded the dangers to the contestants.  That seems like negligence.

I live in Rancho Cordova (where the woman is from, and where the station is aired) and the radio station has no excuse.  Especially since earlier last year, a nearby collged, Chico State, aka Party School, had someone die from water intoxication.  That school shut down the frat, and it was all over the news.  The radio station, should have known at some point.

So, this last weekend we moved into a house (rental), and decided we needed somethings for the house. We went to Costco and just like every Costco, the TV aisle is at the front of the store.  So like every man should do, they should pay their respects until that person has a HDTV for their own.  Erin and I walk down one aisle and notice that there is a Vizio 37 inch LCD HDTV for under $1000.  Out of nowhere, I hear Erin say get it.  I was stunned, I didn't know what to do or how to respond.  I've wanted a HDTV for years now, and just couldn't afford it.  I asked her if she was serious or just being cruel.  She was serious.  This last weekend we also got the DISH set up, and they had a great package for a free DVR.  They also had a HD DVR, but didn't take it because we didn't have an HDTV.  I asked Erin why didn't she say this earlier, I could have jus got that instead, and I just signed that contract.

Well, that TV didn't support 1080p, and I didn't really research anything, so I was totally unprepared on making the best decision.  I told her lets go to Bestbuy and see what they have and see if we can  find something comparable that has 1080p for close that amount.  Well, both Best Buy and CC didn't have anything in that range, and the comparable models were way more expensive, and they had crappy sales.  We drive back to Costco just in time.  Had the tv in the cart, and we're now looking at the DISH HD DVR, they want $449 to own the HD DVR or you can lease it for $200 after rebate.  That's a shitty deal.  Why would I want to spend $200 and not own it.

So needless to day, I told Erin we better hold off for now. Man I could taste it frown

Why hold off like that, just for 1080p? On a 37" TV, you are at the bare minimum for being able to notice a difference with 1080p anyway. If you were locked in on say, a 50" screen, that would be different, but 720p on a 37" set looks fantastic. It's all in the source material guys, good source material, at 720p, will look fantastic.

I forgot to mention that.  After talking to a friend on the way to Best Buy I learned that the 1080p on that screen are 1: hard to come by, and 2: not really worth it right now.  So that wasn't the issue, it was more of the DVR, and the total price of everything quickly adding up.
3792  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: So Close, but so far away on: January 16, 2007, 08:54:00 PM
I didn't get the TV.  I wanted the HD DVR as well.  I just couldn't justify it right now because of our debt.  It's probably for the best.  If anything the TV's will get cheaper.  that same tv at costco was $1400 a few months ago.

Wow I have fallen behind in this thread.

I learned awhile back that it is pointless to try and change someones mind, belief or opinion on any forum/discussion on the Internets.  Why bother and try? It is an exercise in futility that is an extreme waste of time and energy (and bandwidth).  I have let me guard down at times, but I think I am doing a fairly good job of avoiding futile disagreements these days.

If people realized that they need only worry about what they themselves feel, not try to convince other people of their belief, things will be much more civil.  Trying to convince someone of what you think/feel/like at the end of a gun barrel will fail every time. Hetz for example gets very intolerant of anyone with an opinion other than his flavor at the time.  He pulls out the pistols and starts blazing, cutting a path of destruction through the forum and anyone in his path.  What he needs to realize is that he is never, ever, going to magically change anyones existing opinion with this method.

So be secure in your own opinions and beliefs, discuss stuff here, but anytime someone disagrees leave it at that and don't sweat it.  You won't change em.

Kobra, please don't point fingers, you're just gonna start another argument which is not needed here.  Besides, you're not the forum poster child and personally I think you should follow your own advice before giving it to others.

Hetz has already apologized to the forum and said  he would change his behaviour so that this would stop.  That's all we ask.

First off - Kobra, kindly shut the hell up. I think that maybe since that 7 people now have you on ignore, it should give you a clue that maybe you should change the way you are, before pointing fingers at me.

Also, while I said I would try to change my behavior with reguards to the excitement level, I in no way think that my posts of excitement, excuses or justifys the kind of flaming/trolling and namecalling that has gone on around here as of late.

Well, so much for handling things Hetz.  Even after various PMs, you still choose to ignore the mods and the.  I already addressed Kobra's response and it was handled, and you still have to react.  Hetz, many people bait you just so they can get a rise out of you.  It works every time.  And because of it, the forum gets worse and worse.  I had hopes you would learn, even from the GG days, but it still continues.  It's just as bad as the people trying to bait you.

There's going to be some changes in the COC, might want to get it out of your system now.

This reminds me of GG. As it grew you got a greater variety of people, and more clashes. Maybe the same thing is happening here?

While I agree with that, you could also say since most of us came from GG, it could be the same people who had issues over there, still have the same issues and are displaying them here.

It just comes down to respecting others, and not behaving in a way that goes against the COC.
3799  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Re: Is there an Ignore feature in the works? on: January 10, 2007, 06:08:41 AM
The amount of reports the mod's have been getting the last few months, are increasing.  We generally would get a couple a month, now it's about 2-3 a day.  And it usually involves the same people.  The mods have spoken to some members and things have been addressed behind the scenes, with the understanding that all this is hurting the community and it needs to stop.

It really comes down to this

1:) Stop trolling (It's against the COC to begin with)
2:) Stop responding to the trolling even if it's hard to resist, you're not solving anything, it just feeds the flames
3:) If you don't agree with what another person has said respect their opinion, don't make it personal
4:) Realize it's a gaming forum, have fun.

If you can't get along with someone, just ignore them, either manually, or use the new feature.  Or better yet, make things right between you two.
