I was loving the movie til the plot twist.  Turned a potential classic into a  medicore wtf fest for me

Finally watched this... and totally agree.  Movie completely fell apart right there.

It felt like they didn't know where to take the story, so they just slapped it on.  I thought it was mediocre overall.

That's why we have the Off-Topic forum.

We tried doing this with a sports forum (for games) and that didn't go well, don't see this going well either.

The one I'm really, really hurting over is Incredible Crisis for the PS1.  I didn't play it much, but what I played was manic, insane fun.

But you're going to get what, $4 for it at best?  And it's rare one so you'll have a hell of a time trying to find it in the future should you ever want to play it again.

It's probably not about money, more about space.  Women can't stand things hanging around.  My wife goes nuts if i leave the mail on the counter.  So does my mom, weird...

There is a home run derby option but it really doesn't do batting justice as I wish there was strictly a "batting practice" option.  I played a game at default level and the Cards got their asses handed to them 9-1 by the Nationals.  crybaby  I am warming up to this game and really hope a few others pick this up.  An on line league would be pretty fun.

YEah it's too bad they didn't do a batting tutorial like they did for the pitching.  I did the pitching tutorial and finally things began to click.
3733  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 on: March 06, 2008, 02:01:45 AM
according to some people on OS regarding the framerate, it's tied to the VIP and signing on to xbox.  IF you sign out and turn off the VIP during a game, the framerate issue will go away.  When the game is over, sign back on, and save your franchise and walla.  It's a temp fix until 2k figures out how to fix it permanently.

3736  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Major League Baseball 2K8 on: March 05, 2008, 04:11:01 AM
Well, my choice was limited to this since I only have an xbox 360, and I thought I'd give my impressions

This is my first baseball game playing in HD.  Graphically it's a nice step up from the graphics I'm used to from the xbox series of baseball games.  However, there are somethings that need to be worked on, mainly the field.  It just looks like mesh, it looks like someone just spread a can of green paint across the field, it doesn't look right.  Player animation is spot on.  I did a double player where my shortstop threw the ball behind his back to the 2nd baseman and got the guy out before throwing the ball to 1st while in mid air.  I didn't notice it at first, but after seeing the instant replay I couldn't believe what I just saw.  I love it when it's windy, you can see the wind ruffle the players jersey and see the flags blow in the background.  Wind also plays in the ball projectory, so that's cool.  The Aerial camera mode is nice, and it also reduces the framerate issue which I will get into later.  The sound effects sound nice to me, however the crowd needs to be worked on, they don't really react to big plays much.

As far as presentation goes, it does a fine job, I think the Show does it better.  It feels like a baseball game and plays like it, so that's always good Tongue

As far as gameplay goes.  I've played one full game and messed around with a few innings to get familiar with the controls.  It's not something you can just jump into and play.  It's has a learning curve, especially if you haven't played the series in a few years.  Once you get the pitching controls down, the game really shines.  Striking out batters is something you now earn, it's much more difficult.  Batting is a work in progress for me, I'm able to hit, but I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing, and how I'm doing it.  In my only full game I was playing as the Mets and beat the Royals 9-3.  Even though I scored 9pts I'm not comfortable with the batting game.

I played on rookie, so I can't give you an accurate count on the AI, right now my priorities is to get used to the controls.

Now the framerate issue.  It's there, it's not too bad, it's mainly evident in cutscenes, and sometimes during flyballs.  However by switching to the aerial camera mode that greatly reduced that.  I wouldn't let the framerate issue stop people from buying it, it doesn't really affect the game.  I think it happens most when it's trying to load up replays, I think it's trying to access data, and with everything going on, it can't handle processing it.

Anyways, I'm gonna play another game, I had a blast my first game, and hopefully I'll get better smile

3740  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Show 08 or 2K8 MLB on: March 03, 2008, 03:05:45 AM
First I only have an xbox 360, which is fine, except that it needs blue ray smile  Anyways, over at operation sports everyone is bagging on 2k8.  I haven't played a baseball game on a console in a couple of years and it will be my first time on HDTV.  I've seen videos and both look impressive for different reasons.

The show seems to have more atmosphere, where the fans actually react to situations throughout the game.  However, I find the graphics to be bland and washed out (color wise)

2K8, the graphics look impressive, and I can't wait to try out the new pitching interface as well as the batting.  However there's complaints of bat sounds, and the lack of fan interaction and atmosphere, which is weird since 2K sports was once known to put great atmosphere in their games (ESPN NFL 2K series and their basketball games)

So, for those of you who have ps3 or both consoles, what game are you picking, and why?

I don't think he's arguing that they were better, since I'm pretty much absolutely sure that no one in their right mind would make that argument (4 Superbowls to 2.5, Niners winning 6 of 8 H2H meetings).  I think he's saying the two teams were both very, very good.  I'm fine with that.

And that's exactly what I was saying: they were the 2 dominant teams of that time period.  Of those 10 superbowls, the Skins were in 4, the Niners were in 4.

I was arguing they were the 2 dynasties of that period, but many folks said there can be only one dynasty.  Whatever.

Well at least you got the niners superbowl wins right this time Tongue

Instead of paying Justin Smith (he of the 2 sacks last year) 20 million guarenteed and 45 million all should have just moved Andre Carter back to DE (10.5 sacks last year for us).  5 year, 25 million, only 10 million guarenteed.

Paying Justin Smith, who is an "okay" defensive end, nothing more...20 million guarenteed, is crazy.

While that would make sense, it wouldn't have worked, because the niners didn't have the $$$ two years ago.  Plus, I believe the Redskins have a better defense which is probably why he has better numbers than he did when he was a niner.

I've noticed there are about a half a dozen who isn't really reporting their results on the online database located here... (which is fine)  However in order to clean things up, if there's not an update by next week, I will have spicyJ remove those entries.  Some haven't participated since the first week.  No sense of having entries that are no longer being used.

Well I said that I wasn't going to use that other site. So as long as you're talking about removing entries from there I don't care.

But if you're talking about from the forums here - I don't want my removed. I've had some "external issues" the last few weeks that have prevented me from being able to do much in the weight loss (or anything else), but I'm going to meet with a Personal Trainer tomorrow night to interview them and may start up again very soon

Yeah I'm only talking about the online database (which is why I gave the link to indicate what I was referring to Tongue).  It's perfectly fine if you're only interested in putting it on the forums.

Not doing good.  Fast food is killing me.  I have a hard time getting up in the morning and I typically take too much time getting ready and not have time to make lunch.   I need to change that.

I had a couple of good days of eating well, but the fast food just kills the progress.  Last night we did our valentines, so that was unavoidable, but I did only eat half my sandwhich.

Also picking up some running shoes.
