I wish they had never been invented, personally. Okay, back to the addiction that is Forsaken World...

Thank you KD, it's good to be home again!   nod

PR_GMR - no actually, it's not the best MMO ever, though I'm not a good judge on that, this being only my second one I've played in my life!  As always, for me, it's only partly the gameplay that holds me, it's the people. Yes, I'm just that much of a sucker, lmao.

I'll likely be limited to updates on the "FW" thread and a bit of Off Topic for awhile, until Metal forces me to duo Borderlands 2 with him when the GOTY is released.  That will hopefully lead me to slowly unclench the grip that FW has on me... and then (omg I'm so far behind) back to Skyrim and eventually Dragon's Dogma - and then I will really be back.

I only need about 11 mores steps now!

I have no life and I'm very boring!  That said, what will I be playing all weekend?  Of course, the same MMO I've been playing for over a year - Forsaken World, sigh...

That is all, thank you for listening, go back to your more exciting lives!

At the risk of bringing up a sad topic and so late... I just discovered Kato's "board game" thread and the mention of the loss of DamageInc.  Though I don't play multi-player much, I have felt all the good qualities the rest of you mentioned just by having read his posts here... he was one of my favorite members.

I feel bad that I suffer from mmo addiction and thus had drifted away from GT for too long and missed the original announcement.  I'm still addicted, but in tribute to him, I will try extremely hard to not drift away again.  The people in this family are much too important for that, and I know the fault is mine for having been drawn away for so long.

I hope you get this message, D-Inc and will forgive me.  Rest well, as I'm sure you are in a well-deserved Good Place now - tears and regret belong only to the "left behind" - and I'm shedding them now for our loss of you...

Sadly, I have great difficulty playing more than one game at a time, unless they are hugely different and not on the same system... I confuse so easily, lol.  When I finish each day on the mmo Forsaken World, which I'll be playing all weekend, I may hit up an iPad app with a hidden object game, Scrabble, or Free Cell.  Otherwise, yeah, it will be Forsaken World - and my current addiction state means that will be the majority of "whenever I'm awake!"

Some things never change, lol.

Haha, seriously, lmao!  I - who played Morrowind through probably 4 or 5 times... how far I have fallen, sigh...  but again, like I said - I blame Purge (hi Purge, lol!)

I really enjoyed Skyrim, even when all the stuff in my house moved itself around like there were poltergeists, but I'm really a sap and kept getting dragged back in to FW. For one thing, I feel responsible for the people in my Guild, silly me!  Just ask Metal - I'm not just an addict, but I'm like a terrier with a rat, and I hate to give up.

I gotta say though, it really is great to be "home" again, and for that, I thank you all once more! Yes, even YOU CeeKay rofl!  I'll be reading a lot while I try to pester Metal on whatever I did wrong on the email notification, but you haven't quite shed me yet, lol.  Or all the LOLs and exclamation points I use, lol!

OMG lol, I didn't include the name of the game!  I wrote the same thing in the ""FW" MMO thread, the first few paragraphs of that I pasted here, the apology part. And yeah, I left the FW instead of changing it to the real name - even though I proofread it on Preview.  Some things just never change lmao!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the various suggestions - I think one of them was to send Purge some money and a 30 pack of beer, but u know my memory!   icon_twisted

I went through everything in Account/Profile/Option, etc., that I could find, everything looked fine, but I got no email notifications of your answers, so that's still a problem.  I'll take another look and try Metal's suggestion, because, of course, I can't remember if I saw that particular box to check;  yup, some things never change!  In the meantime, I'll be trying to remember to check the Forums, and before I sign into the mysterious FW game.

Yes, I am still alive!  I feel awful that I haven't posted here at GT for ages, please know that - and, unlike the lame bf/gf breakup line - it definitely WAS me and not you, lol!  I did what I thought (and had vowed) I'd never do again: form a Guild and be Guild Leader.  Apparently my poor memory failed me once again from remembering how much of a pain, and how time consuming Guild Leadership is.

Every morning I used to wake up, check my email, head to GT, and revisit throughout the day.  Now I play FW until 4 or 5 in the morning, wake up, check email, and race off to see what new emergency has arisen in dear old VSQReserve Guild.  Partly my absence has been because I never did figure out how to return my forum preferences to notify me of answers on threads by email.  I will try again to correct this - and my friend Metallicorphan has offered to help me while chatting on XBox Live if I can't figure it out.  My XBL Friends have seen me rarely, too - even Skyrim couldn't throw me a strong enough rope to keep me out of the MMO Quicksand Pool of Addiction.  When "I" am playing XBox or Kinect, it is a friend or neighbor in actuality.   I will go back to Skyrim someday and have promised to duo Borderlands 2 with Metal - and I know he'll ensure that happens!

Of course, I blame my absence on Purge, because he helped me figure out my first MMO, FFXI (which I only played for about 3 years, lol.)  I hope I haven't been gone long enough for people to say "Purge WHO?"

And now, on topic - VSQReserve is also still alive, which means it's over a year old.  We are a level 4 Guild with a Level 1 Base that is approaching Level 2  We are a Level 5 Guild with a Level 2 Base, and everything when things will is really starting to open up.  There has been an expansion released, called Nightfall, with new quests, abilities, etc - and now we have mounted combat and flying mounts as well. With the Castle 2 being constructed, we will be working on structures that reduce daily maintenance and taxes, and specialized buildings that support crafts and trading areas.

If anyone would like to give the game a go, newly or "again" for some of you, here's the pertinent info:

Guild name:  VSQReserve
Leader:  mytocles
Vice Leader:  coryheart
Corps Leaders:  AmaMage, Citrine, JensenRahl.

Any leader can invite you to the guild, if it's not me, just say you know myto lol.  Finding me online and in-game is pretty easy though - whenever I'm not eating or sleeping, pretty much.

I'm going to paste the first three paragraphs into a more general Forum (as an apology for my absence) so if you thought that part was familiar, don't worry - it's ME not YOU!

OH, MY!

There is a week-long program right now, that anyone playing should definitely check out.  Go to the PWE/FW site and choose the logged-in event, then stay logged in, do some God's Trials - and the rewards are quite impressive!   nod

Update on Guild Base: none were available again this week, but I started Guild recruiting so we should have enough, or nearly enough, Contribution points to secure the first upgrade when we do get one.

Mmmm, that's all I think, for now!

Thank goodness for Metal! He tipped me off that I was being discussed here, lmao - so here I am, and here are my answers to the various questions:

1:  Sad to say, I do not own that particular NES cartridge; my claims to fame are two gold copies of the original Legend of Zelda; one copy of the Tengen version of Tetris (still the best iteration, imo)... mmm, and an Arkanoid with original controller.

2:  PR_GMR, I have been existing in an alternate universe for awhile now. I can be found in the Massive Multiplayer Madness forum (madness, indeed!) where I check in on the latest posts to the Forsaken World thread, and I am generally talking to myself.   Then I'm off to Eyrda to be enchanted, addicted, enslaved, enthralled, and any other conditions that usually require a 12-step program to extricate oneself.

3:  Hark, what we had together was special, and it is no one else's business at all!  icon_twisted

4:  Metal is right.  Metal is always right.  I survived the various tornadoes and hurricanes, pretty much unscathed, though I did spend some time in our cellar with my laptop, iPod, and DS - of course!  Since I started Forsaken World, the only visits to my XBL account have been by my 10 year old neighbor (that Maw game is amazing!), and I'm still playing Dungeon Raid on the iPod... during weekly FW maintenance, or when my fingers boycott the overuse of the mouse and I have to switch to a stylus.  In other words, Life in the Rabbit Hole!

So that's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, unless I minimized the full extent of my current gaming addiction, of course.  One of these days, I will figure out what I goofed on GT that disabled email notifications of posts (I'm pretty sure it was something stupid on my part, lol) and then I'll be a little more "present and accounted for."

I guess that's it, you may return to your regularly scheduled discussion of whatever the hell this thread was started about, if you so choose!

I have a request to make of anyone from GT who played Forsaken World and joined our Guild, but knows they aren't coming back to the game.  VSQReserve is still trying to get a Guild Base, but there haven't been any up for bid for 3 weeks, something I didn't even know was possible, lol.  There are many rules that affect the number of Bases available for bid every Monday, and some of them dictate whether there are any at all.  However, if we do manage one this week, we will probably be tidying up our member lists and removing people who are inactive.

So, if any of you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt - like you've already deleted the game, lmao - that your aren't returning to the game, please let me know here.  Also, if you still have the game but know you will be deleting it, here's an extra favor I'd appreciate if you could manage first:  if you have any gold, pop it into an in-game letter and send it to me, I will add it to the Guild Base Fund.  If you were still thinking of starting the game or starting back up - c'mon down! - we would love to see you!

Thanks... now I have to back to the game before withdrawal symptoms set in!

What lvl? Also, what are bidding dates again? Mon-Wed night?

Usually the Guild Base bidding starts on Monday evenings at 6PM (Eastern US), and goes to Wednesday evenings. I think on Wednesday at 9:30PM is when the "first final" time limit is, but for some reason they list two times, a half hour apart, at 9:30PM and 10PM.  Last night, I was waiting on Lawrence's doorstep, ready to bid, but there were no Bases being offered. I still don't know why, though it could be Monday being a holiday - or, that the World Era didn't reach 100%, though I haven't seen that happen before.  If that is it, it could be that not enough people were playing - and Praying, lol -  due to said holiday.  Either way, there was nothing to bid on as of about a half hour ago.

As for what level that 10g quest is, Az, either ask Spy, or just base it on whether you can get to the area where "Henry" is.  If you can, but feel too weak for the mobs there, maybe we can party up, even if only to get you there in one piece! I have no idea if the quest can be completed in a party, but we should be able to figure that out at the NPC.

rittchard, it would be great to see you in game, just PM me for any info you need if you do get into it, and some trade secrets on how to make gold, etc.  I actually don't know if there is a minimum level you need to join a Guild, but I know Teggy made it in as a level 17, so it's at least that or lower.

19  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Forsaken World Co-op'ers - also tips, tricks, impressions on: September 04, 2011, 06:57:10 PM
Lol, yeah - on both!  We've been waiting to recruit until we have a Guild Base, but it's the Catch-22 - it's tough getting a Base without enough members.  Actually, we have a ton of members, just need more of them to donate to the Bidding wars. I've sent a few of them letters to try to nudge them in the right direction, we'll see what happens on Monday.

If we don't win a bid this week, I guess I'll have to start shouting to recruit people... my least favorite thing to do in the Whole Wide World (other than poking my eye with a stick.)

Btw, there is a 10-gold (Real Gold) quest that Spy found, that's not too tough to do, if you can get to the Peak of Damnation.  I couldn't find the quest giver on my map - believe it or not, his name is Henry, lmao - but I just did what i do best, and bumbled around until i came across him.  He is N/NE of the Kindling Camp, and the quest is to get 10 Snake Galls, which requires hunting mmmm, some kind of Serpent;  you'll know them when you see them.  Ten more gold for the Bidding Fund!

20  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Forsaken World Co-op'ers - also tips, tricks, impressions on: August 19, 2011, 04:51:35 PM
Well, the August update has provided us with quite a few new features, and one, in particular - is a ton of fun.  You can send one of your pets on a "Pet Journey" to earn you XP, coins, and rewards - and you can go offline while the pet works. You can't send two pets on Journeys at once, but one can be on a trip, the other can be working with you, which is especially nice.

Another feature of the update is a new pet - Kluer (though what people see in that feature is definitely in the Eye of the Beholder.)  To me, the pet looks like Uncle Fester - on a very, very bad day.  Oh well, to each, etc...

There is a lot more new content, several new features - and as usual, there really is too much to do in this game, so I've barely scratched the surface.  I've found more goals to work on, which is just another way to keep me addicted, of course.  It's working: gotta run now and get a better pet for my alt for when he reaches level 45 and can put it to work!

Not sure why they did it, but here's a major News Flash:

Not only do we have double "mob-killing" XP - but PWE has added TRIPLE QUEST XP!  Sorry for the caps, but it is a major Big Deal, lol.  Anyone who has been even thinking of playing this (really good) F2P MMORPG, might want to hop in now.

Aliesha/ earicci:  if you see this in time, it was Dece who alerted me to this, and I promised that I - or someone else - would get him into a Mentored GT.  Howi will do it if I'm not on yet, and you can be the #3 backup if you are on in a bit since I know you rarely miss a GT!

I should be on in a few hours, so if this has captured your attention, I will see you soon, lmao.

Nice job on the Guild upgrade! I noticed we dropped to 1947 -do we keep our Level 3? I am ready for Wraith Castle - let me know when you want to give it a go!

Thanks!  Yes, we dropped below 2k Zeal but still had the level 3 guild - something we weren't 100% sure was going to happen.  Last night was a quiet night, which I suspect was due to some folks spending "family time" to make up for any possible lack thereof since starting this game!

I'll be talking to Howi and Pidane about what comes next; I figure it's either press on toward Level 4 Guild... or assign a recruitment officer to bulk us up a bit (something I think is fairly inevitable), or wait a bit and then go for it.  We could also take a vote on how many people feel strongly about pursuing the level 4 Guild and  Base, which could influence our decision.

I'll be up for Wraith Castle almost any time, it was not only one that I enjoyed it, but I didn't stink at it either, lmao.  WC seems to be one of the more "senior friendly" Instances (!) - and yeah, I know you aren't quite in that category, but I also know that you will totally understand the analogy!

29  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Forsaken World Co-op'ers - also tips, tricks, impressions on: July 20, 2011, 03:23:00 PM
Good Job, everyone!  We made it to Level 3 guild, one step closer to getting a Guild Base,  thanks in part to some last minute heroics by a few GT members.  We can relax and breathe again - at least until we get close to the next level of Zeal Points needed for level 4... which is when the real fun begins.

I learned another Instance - one that I had been dreading, until I had done my first one;  It's Wraith Castle, it sounded extremely complicated but turned out to be quite simple and a lot of fun.  It was the same with the Pet Tutorial, looked difficult, turned out to be easy, though I had to run through it several times before I was able to do it without a hitch.  That's just me because I'm lost all the time, but it's a fairly simple route plus I marked the map to auto-path to the 4 locations needed.  A level 1 pet can be taken through the tutorial and exit level 33 which comes in quite handy on the Pet Tamer job.

I still can't beat Lola but the game gives you many alternate ways to earn the same rewards I would get from that race, so I probably won't bother with her again, lol. I also am never doing Nightmare Carnival again.  Most players enjoy that Instance and find it fun... not so much those predominantly using the mouse for controlling movement.  Again, there are so many things to do in the game, that I'm planning on attacking other Events and Instances, and avoiding that one.

And now it's time to play again!

What does that guild name mean, anyway? It sounds like a kind of scotch or something Tongue

We prefer to compare our guild to very fine cognac... or brandy... or the beverage of your choice.  And the initials are from the same:  Very Special Quality Reserve.  We wanted to keep the word Reserve in it since we were all from Lionheart Reserve 4, one of the freshman guilds that we were in together a fairly long time.  Someone said the VSQR was particularly appropriate because we are older than most - and we will mess you up!

I'll lose out on NHL 10.  Oh, wait, I never play online anyway.

Oh, by the way, Doopri, you'll love this:  EA just bought Popcap.

This makes me sad.   icon_neutral

Rob - I tried to search for you yesterday in game, but couldn't remember the spelling of your name, lol.  I've got it written down now and will try again today, if you are on, hopefully you will see a PM from me.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned occasional unscheduled maintenance as being a minor problem; well, it is even less of a problem than I thought.  I finally noticed that they occur every Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning, at 2 AM (Eastern).  They give you a very short notice, like 200 seconds - apparently you are supposed to know it is going to happen every week.

I'll repeat for anyone who missed it:  we have formed a guild that several GTers have joined.  If you'd like an invite, PM me or Pidane (tell him you are my friend), or watch for members with this guild tag - VSQReserve, and see if one of us is online and we'll grab you ASAP.

I got a little sleep, here and there... and the rest was all Forsaken World, all the time!   nod

I read the title of the thread as "Resident Evil15" - which wouldn't have surprised me too much - there are a lot of them.  It's a pretty nice package, but I've been incapable of getting into more than one title in the series, due to camera issues.  For some reason, I managed to play Nemesis almost to the end, but I finally concluded that RE was not going to be one of my all-time favorites.  I really want to love them, but alas, I cannot.  Oh well...   icon_neutral

Good!  I hope that means it won't be released anywhere near Skyrim - as you say, wtf were they thinking?  I also hope that means that they will take their time and search out every possible glitch in the game; I'm quite tired of being addicted to buggy games.  That said, I will be avidly awaiting Witcher 2 as well as Skyrim, whenever they arrive.

Heh, I think I'd rather that I had your mentality, Myto, and be able to focus on one thing until it is done.  I tend to jump around too much and then rarely actually finish any games.

And I think I'd rather have your mentality, Engine - I focus on one thing because if I tried to play more than one game at a time, I would only be hitting the wrong buttons in both games.  I play the way I do pretty much because I must.  Speaking of which, I believe I left a tiny part of one quest out of a zilion unfinished last night, I'd better move along now.  Oh, yeah, and I must be at least a little OCD...
