$7 a 6-pack? Gross. It's one of my favorite beers, and is usually just above $5 for a 6-pack here. I drank it a lot last summer. I turn the AC up to 80 when I'm at work, and sometimes my apartment feels like a sauna when I get home. Yuengling quickly cut through the heat for me, and made the hour or two that I had to wait for the temperature to come back down bearable.

Although, I recently tried some IPA's, and found that those cut through the heat even better. So it's been awhile since I've had a Yuengling. I might pick some up tonight though on my way home from work.

And don't worry about the Black and Tan's. They weren't anything special.

Did Ozzie get run into and should interference have been called.  Yes.  Did Ozzie over sell the play.  Yes.  Do I have any issue with that?  No.

Isn't that the definition of diving though?

Quote
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who attempts to draw a penalty by his actions ("diving").

In my opinion, at the very least the first goalie interference penalty of Game 2 should have been a minor to Malone for the interference, and a minor to Osgood for diving.
See, I do not even feel he over sold that one.  Just jostled for position inside the crease where he should be allowed unimpeded movement.  Particularly in light of the way they called Holmstrom for interference in game 1 AND disallowed a goal.  It is at least closer to being consistent the way they called it than if they had also called a penalty on Ozzie there.

The second one, at the end of the game, I could see the argument for diving being made.  I wouldn't agree but I could certainly see that there were points to be made to that argument.

Although this brings me right back to remembering the Avs series and Forskin accusing Samuelson of acting and diving when he got called for the double minor high-stick that had knocked two of Sammies teeth out.

I know that the first one there was interference (Ozzie was pushed), but he was not pushed hard enough to completely collapse like he did. I refuse to believe that any player in the NHL, even goalies, are so weak on their skates that the slightest push will cause them to collapse to the ground. And he was rolling around down there until he realized he didn't hear a whistle and a Penguin had a shot at the empty net. When he came to that realization, he started playing again from the ice (sadly I'm pretty sure the shot was wide or blocked even). It's not his jostling for position that I think is unreasonable, it is his impression of a fish out of water that I have an issue with.

As for the goal in Game 1 that was called back, I have a hard time comparing it to these two for one reason. Fluery didn't fall down, he made a play at the puck. He put himself in position to stop the shot, and in the process Holmstrom got his stick between his legs, and the ref blew the whistle. Watching the replay, I don't think there was any interference (Fluery was out of the crease AND I don't think the stick prevented him from getting into position), but the penalty was called because of a refs bad judgement, rather than Fluery's acting skills (maybe he needs to sharpen those too). If anything, that call in Game 1 should show that falling to the ice to show the refs that contact was made, is NOT needed.

The definition is not black and white though.  The key is was Ozzie trying to DRAW a penalty or was he trying to make sure the refs were aware the interference occurred.

That's absurd. If a player gets knocked to the ice, it better be because the OTHER player did something to put them there, and NOT some little show for the refs so you can get a penalty called.

I didn't really watch the end of the game, so if there was a second punch I missed it, which might explain why I'm not of the same opinion that Roberts should be suspended.

He hit Franzen in the side of the face with a full on left hook (Roberts is a lefty for those that do not know) from behind.  He should have been given a game misconduct for that as well as a game to sit and think about what it means to try and hurt another player rather than try to win a hockey game.

I watched the replay, and it is definitely a closed fist, and not an open palm. You will find no arguments from me if he gets suspended.

You're right.  Temple of Doom is rated 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.  The next lowest is Last Crusade at 89%.  That is a HUGE margin.

How has the theme of the movies been consistent when ToD had nothing to do with religion?  If anything, it is part of a pattern and a departure from the religious tone was due for the next film.  Maybe you'll get 'Indiana Jones and Noah's Ark' for Indy V.   Roll Eyes

He has done nothing but head hunt in both games, and it is getting ridiculous.
I agree that he's not a clean hitter, but I disagree that his hits are head-hunters.  His issue is that he leaves his skates on 80-90% of his hits.  He tries to make up for his diminutive size by "exploding" into the opposition, and in doing so, he jumps at the opposition.  This isn't so much a specific intent to injure (such as Roberts' sucker-punch on Franzen from behind when the score was 3-0 with 3 minutes left in the game and the team down 2-0 in the series), but is definitely something which could be penalized.  Roberts should be suspended.

Even so, being small is no excuse to break the rule. The refs need to realize that this is something that continually happens, and start to penalize him for it.

Did Roberts throw two sucker punches in the game? I remember one, but it was more of an open palm to the face, and I thought it was earlier than 3 minutes left. I hate watching players take cheap shots, but after two full games of it happening to the Pens, part of me was glad the tables were turned a little bit.
Ouch.  That stuff has no place in the game, IMO, and the retaliatory stuff (such as Datsyuk going after Roberts after it happened) should also be penalized within the ruleset of the game.  But intent to injure needs to be suspended, not (just) penalized.

I agree, it just needs to be equal on both sides.

And is it too hard to ask for the refs to be consistent? I don't mind if the refs are letting calls go, but in the first two games I have watched the Red Wings commit blatant penalties where the ref literally turns and looks the other way, while the Pens breathe wrong and they go in to the sin bin. These calls might not directly affect the outcome of the game (Detroit was still the better team in both games), but it would at least be fair.
I think the refereeing has been pretty fair, if not much to my liking.  The mysterious crackdown on Holmstrom's play near the crease has become *silly* and if it's the direction the league wants to go with players who make their living in front of the goaltender, I'm disappointed that the crackdown happened after teams had played 82 regular season games, and roughly 10 playoff games.  That is *not* the time to start changing the rules enforcement, IMO.

I agree, and to be honest I wasn't really talking about goalie interference or anything dealing with that. I can see both sides for the call in game 1. Fleury was just outside of the crease, and even though the defender did get his stick between the legs of Fleury, was it enough to stop him from moving to his side? I don't think so, but they only showed the replay in slow motion, and something like that is hard to tell. At least this call is going both ways though, or at least Osgood is doing his best to draw the penalty.

My beef with the refs is that I feel the Red Wings are doing a lot of holding, tripping, and interference, and the refs aren't calling anything, while the Pens are doing it to a lesser extent and get called for it repeatedly. Of course, I have an admitted bias which could make me see things that aren't there.

Terrible first couple of games, for several reasons. The Pens are getting completely dominated, and so far have had no answer at all for it. It seems the only two players that are even trying are Crosby and Staal. The good thing though is I feel Game 2 was a hell of a lot closer than what the final score showed. The Pens probably had more quality chances to score than the Red Wings did, and they whiffed every single time at the puck, or the puck would take a nasty bounce over their stick. I have a feeling that once the Pens do score, it's going to be a floodgate for them, at least in one game. They have had their chances, and just haven't converted.

As for the Roberts hit, if the league punishes him then they MUST go after Cromwell as well. He has done nothing but head hunt in both games, and it is getting ridiculous. I hate watching players take cheap shots, but after two full games of it happening to the Pens, part of me was glad the tables were turned a little bit. The refs need to do a better job of keeping that crap under control, on both sides, so that this doesn't happen.

And is it too hard to ask for the refs to be consistent? I don't mind if the refs are letting calls go, but in the first two games I have watched the Red Wings commit blatant penalties where the ref literally turns and looks the other way, while the Pens breathe wrong and they go in to the sin bin. Last year someone was having trouble on their computer, and asked me to help them out.

Me: Ok, click on 'File'.

Them: I'm trying. click, click, click, click...nothing was happening

Me: Ok, that's kind of weird that the mouse stopped working. Let me see.

I grab the mouse and it starts working fine.

Me: Whatever, ok, click 'Page Setup'.

Them: Still nothing is happening. click, click, click click

I looked at her hand, and she was clicking the wheel, and not the left mouse button. I grabbed her finger, and moved it over to the left button, and said, "now try".

She has maybe said 5 words to me since then. Put me in with the group of people that don't understand computers. If you are working in an office, you should at the very least know how to turn on a computer, use a mouse, and trouble shoot a little bit.

For those that might have trouble getting away from the cops, I managed to lose them in the Subway on foot one time. After a mission I had a 3 or 4 star wanted level and just couldn't get away from the cops with the clunker car I had. I tried to switch cars but they shot me up as I got in, and then rammed the car so much it caught on fire. So with barely a sliver of health left, I bailed into the subway system, and started running down the track. The cops didn't seem to follow, and after awhile of sprinting on foot I got outside the search zone and lost the warrant level.

Of course, this took a long time for me to actually sprint out of the zone, and I had to dodge the subway trains the entire time, but it worked.

In the last I felt it didn't really matter, your comrades responded the same etc. Seems, like they are affected by your side and are drawn to that side. Might make a darkside play more worthwhile than lasttime. I started one, but didn't finish because it was the same then.

I'll agree that for the most part everything was the same. But towards the end of the game on the dark side...oh yeah, spoiler warning from the first game...if you are a dark side jedi you kill 2 and possibly 3 members from your team, plus Juhani at the beginning of the game.

It was incredible.

I really want this game, and I'm biding my time playing the first one over again (3rd or 4th time now) until the new year when I'll have time to play it.

Not saying that at all. Just that the Pats lost all those guys DURING the game.

I'm not afraid. We'll talk come playoff time.

We're winning because our team is playing better than any other team. Our lines are dominating. Our rushing game is on, even with Staley gone. We have three premier receivers. We have great linebackers and our secondary is doing their job.

And to all the Ben nay sayers...watch a game. You can call out his stats all you want, but when you see him get hit by two rushing linebackers, shrug it off, roll to his left and throw away from his body deadly accurate to a receive 10 yards down the field for a first down on a 3rd and 8...you'll finally understand.

The Steelers don't need to have a quarterback throw for 300 yards and win. Two years ago Maddox was airing it out for 300 yards a game and they still lost because everything else was weak.

Ben is making the decisions and plays that he needs to in order to win the game...what more do you want?

I'm convinced on that faithful day earthquakes will kill everyone on this planet, all volcanos on this planet will erupt at the same time, filling the sky with dark ash and blocking out the sun for a million years. Flaming frogs will fall from the sky, on fire because of the massive heat because of the erupting volcanos (the french will be happy about that), and 100 asteriods will collide with Earth, just to add to the mayhem. Then God and the Dark Lord will come to earth and fight the final fight between good and evil (I'll let you decide whether or not God is in a NYY jersey or a Red Sox jersey).

In other terms...the Red Sox must be stopped at all costs.  :?

So I have about 15 different styles of socks in my sock drawer, and I tend to lose a bunch somehow when doing laundry. So I have a pile of socks with no mates.

This happened to our entire family, and soon after we all kind of went our seperate ways (I went to college, my parents moved away, and my brothers were off on their own) we had to have "The Great Sock Round-Up" (TGSRU) in order to condense our growing piles of lonely socks.

Unfortunately, dear mother bought everyone different socks, so TGSRU was a disaster.

On a side note, there is a comedy talk radio station here in Orlando that I listen to. Almost everyone of their programs got picked up and place on XM as well as regular radio. I know that a lot of shows are getting that chance.
