If you click on the version of the electoral map link above that takes you to Clinton vs McCain.... it sure does bolster Clinton's argument that she's the stronger general election candidate.

Which means what this far out?  Not much, I'd say.

The alternative to Obama is to award the nomination to the candidate that didn't get the most actual votes and didn't win the nomination via the process the party put into place.  There's nothing good that could come from that scenario, whatever the polling would suggest.

I'm actually suprised there wasn't a major 3rd party candidate this year.   Seems to me this would have been a golden opportunity for one.    If you examine what has happened in the R and D camps, the party favored candidates were abandoned for either new faces (Barack) or mavericks (McCain).   This to me says the electorate was tired of the same old business in Washington, and it reflected as early as the primaries for both parties.

If a strong 3rd party had run for President this year, they might have won the whole thing.

Nonsense. Third party candidates face normally insurmountable obstacle towards winning -- most importantly the lack of a built in ground organization (the GOP and Democrats have well-tuned turnout machines that took decades to construct and train) to turn out the vote -- and when they win they have NO partisan allies in the other branches of government to turn to for support. That third parties try to win the presidency instead of focusing first and foremost on the legislative bodies shows how third party-ism tends to attract those who are the least grounded in political realism.

Also, Hillary's "polls" against McCain are a chimera. Right now, NO ONE is taking pot shots at Hillary Clinton, she's getting a complete free ride. Obama switched to general election mode (and isn't even really pouring money into the present primaries) after Indiana and is focused on McCain, and McCain is focused on Obama. With no concerted effort to drag her down being executed, Clinton is, of course, benefiting in the polls.

She's toast by Thursday.

I've often wondered what in the crap was happening back in 1992 when Ross Perot was getting a very significant percentage in the polls before he dropped out.       Without the machine you mentioned above, he was attracting huge numbers for an independent in a Presidential election.

Ron Paul got 3% running as a Republican. Why would he or anyone else have done any better as a 3rd Party candidate? This is still a two party country fighting over which side of the Titanic they sit on.

Because Ron Paul wasn't mainstream enough.    Ross Perot (yes, insane) at least early on in the 92 campaign made people think he was mainstream and had a 'let's fix it' message.    Nobody has come forward with that message from a third party perspective this year that was big name enough and electable enough.

So I just read an article.    More analysts are adopting the theory of $200 and beyond oil prices within 10 months.    This will be a massive downward force on our economy.    Gasoline prices will spike out of control.     We are in uncharted territory my friends....   in the 1930's a large segment of the population was agriculture and thus able to sustain themselves by self reliance.     We are facing the potential for an economic situation which is similiar except that we have turned service and only a fragment of the population is involved in agriculture and thus self sustaining.

All that to say this:

I placed my FJ Cruiser on the market Friday.    I put it up for an optimistic price.    It's rather a niche vehicle, and I placed it within the bounds of what others were asking for theirs, so nothing unreasonable.

After reading these other analysts, I have a sudden panic to lower the price just to my payoff amount and get rid of it.     Should I do this, or give it a few weeks in the hopes of recovering my $1500 downpayment that I originally put out over what I still owe?

Should I give it a go for a few weeks, or put it at a price to sell immediately?   These daily reports from oil analysts are scaring me.

Edit to add clarification though:   I think Republicans lose in a country ass whoopin this fall.    They are being punished by the electorate -- some of which is justified (acting just like Democrats for 10 years in the spending department), and some of which is not (the massive tidal wave of reaction to energy prices that have spiked because of Chinese and Indian demand).

So even when I THINK it's connected, half the time it doesn't show in-game like in GTAIV.    Then I have to get BACK out of the game and try to figure out WTF is going on.     I got it working in COD4 consistently one night, but it seems I have trouble on front end every time I try to get it started.

Apparently the conspiracy theorists are abuzz over this photo:

http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/images/gallery/lg_440.jpg

Notice the white mark to the right of the center of the horizon line.

Wanna know the answer to that?

Look up a few posts to Pyperkub's image showing the whole area where the lander landed.

Notice those other objects?  Yep.  It's probably the parachute, with backshell attached, or the heat shield.  No need to get all conspiracy theory when there are more obvious answers.  Doing so is equivalent to all those nuts who find images of Jesus in pancake batter.  You don't take those nutjobs seriously, so why take conspiracy theorists who find government conspiracies and aliens in everything that might seem a little odd at first.

And frankly, if it was an object of interest on mars that wasn't man made, and not a glitch in the camera or some other process, then the scientific community would be the first to say something because that'd be a big finding, a finding that scientists have been wanting to announce for a very long time.

It's interesting though that with all the lander news, there was a bit of news about the two rovers.  Specifically how the partial breakdown of one of the rovers (one of its legs no longer works) led to them being able to do another experiment by using the broken leg, dragging it along to dig a small trench in the dirt, which uncovered a type silica that's typically (or was it so far known only to be) found in areas with water hot springs.

Msduncan, is the lander inside that giant crater, nearby, or did it pass it up completely?

At the time the photo was taken, it was 12 km in front of the crater.    The crater is just so massive that it makes it look like it's going down into it.   Pretty cool eh?

Jiffy Lube isn't going to turn you away.  They're also not going to do it for free.  The oil in the system is some super-duper synthetic (hence the 12,000+ miles per change), and the filter is of higher quality than what you'd expect from a vehicle made earlier this decade.  I *believe* the price of a filter runs about $35, but that's from my potentially mistaken memory.  A non-MINI BMW dealership is *not* going to do this maintenance for you for free under warranty.  (I'm not sure if they'd do it for you but charge you for it.)

Hmm..   So I wonder how much it would cost me to get my oil changed at a non-MINI service center.    $35 for the filter, xxx for the synthetic, and how much for the labor?     I mean if you are only getting it done every 12,000 miles, even a more expensive oil change might not be too big of a deal.    Depends on how much 'more expensive' is.

Driving two hours to get an oil change isn't my idea of fun!
You don't have to.  But if you want them for free, you do.  Right on schedule, once-a-year or every 12,000 miles (whichever comes first).  And they'll give you a loaner (or come up and swap cars for you, depending on the dealership).

Me confused.    Are you saying that you can get the oil changed anywhere, but if you take it back to the dealer it's free?    Or are you saying an oil change other places are more expensive than an average oil change?
