Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Glenn Beck is a douche

The best part of his tirade is that he surmises that I must agree with EVERYTHING that Beck stands for from the fact that I said I agree with him on his stance against Obama-which is nothing more than he believes, as I do, that he is bad for the country and cares nothing for our constitution or traditional way of life in this country. Of which I am proud to say I want back and long for. But from that simple statement, he and another surmise I must be a racist and god knows what. How frickin insulting, and I must add, stupid. Well, I have had enough of this place. I am not gonna sit here and argue the point. Believe what you want.
KD, or whoever, just delete my account. Write me off. Whatever. I shan't be back to this website in this lifetime.
Good bye.

While I don't know what the overall plot or goal is, it will be a very plot driven RPG like previous Bioware RPGs (Mass Effect, BG 1&2, KOTOR, Jade Empire). However I believe there is a large emphasis on sidequests and IIRC you didn't care for those much in Mass Effect so I"m not sure if the game would really be for you.
You remembered correctly. I typically only like the main story line as I just don't play that much anymore, so, no time for 80 hours of rpg'n. I can see the quality in it though. Might wait for a good walkthrough that shows you how to get to the heart of the matter and then pick it up and run through. I love me fantasy themes though.

So, anyone got a short synopsis of what the point is in this game? Are we eventually supposed to save the land from some Dragon or evil whoever? Or is it more just a character-building rpg where the crux is to roam around and adventure here and there and build a badass character?
Just hoping it is not another World of Warcraft type of thing. Oh, and I did not play through Baldur's Gate. Got bored about an hour in.
The videos I watched had some nice character interaction with npc's, but that is about all I could tell from them.

I think I may have overreacted when I heard Fallout. I could not stand the shooting mechanics in that game and the animations;stiffest and worst mo-cap I have see this gen. If the shooting is spot on, like say Halo or Vegas or Uncharted, then I will probably get it. That is what I am waiting to hear. I also am not a big fan of 'open' games that just drop you and say figure out where the hell the main story is. If I have to talk to 300 people to get to the main story to 'save the world' so-to-speak, then I won't like it. Will rent for sure just to find out.

Heard all I need to hear from Junior. If it is like Fallout, I am out. Hated that game. Thank Junior. That was the one thing I was afraid it might be. Was hoping for more of a diablo in first person kind of experience.
This is why impressions threads are so important. Helps a brother save money or spend it wisely. Thanks.

PC can't cut it. It's out. Would get the 360 version if my only coop buddy would buy it, but I know he won't. Too cheap. So for me, it will be the PS3 and play solo. If I even get it. Undecided. Nothing I have seen so far make me want to get out of my chair.

I had the ONLY copy in my town in my hand yesterday but could not get myself to get it. Thoughts of the mindless grinding and talking to idiots to get mindless fetch quests like in Morrowind and Fallout came to mind and I put it back. Plz tell me there is a cohesive main storyline that one can easily pick up on and follow.
Plz tell me it's not like Morrowind or Oblivion or Fallout in that respect.

I am really scratching my head trying to figure out if this is worth getting or not. Can't rent it cuz they are all out and will be for weeks. It LOOKS like a game I would like, but having to redo levels over and over and over might drive me nuts. The last game that did that to me was Enclave. While I loved that game, this one strikes me as even more difficult than Enclave.
If they would have at a minimum included a save point at the end of each level right before the boss fight so you don't have to do the whole level over if you die in the Boss fight, which you will I hear, I think I would most definitely get it.

Total joke. The deadline for nominations is February 1, meaning Obama would've been nominated after being in office for just 11 days. Back when he had a good approval rating.. lol 100 percent agreement. How about giving it to someone who has actually DONE something, not just promises. Who knows, maybe someone day he might deserve it, but too soon at this juncture. Give me a list of what HE has actually DONE other than tout an open-arm policy to those who would just as soon see us dead and gone like the old Roman Empire? Total absolute joke and just another affirmation to me, along with Gore's win, why the Nobel Prize is all politics and has no real merit. At least Gore had pictures though. I'll give him that. Oh, and he created the internet.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves revealed!
|

Adam Sessler reviewed Uncharted 2 on X-Play tonight. although he gushed about pretty much every aspect of the game, this excerpt from his written review sums up his thoughts well... I’m not 100% certain when it happened. I think it’s when I had Nathan Drake atop a building in a war-torn Nepalese city, cornered and being fired upon by a helicopter, engaged in a fist fight with the screen slowly draining of color, snapping my enemy’s neck and quickly rolling into cover to reload my grenade launcher only to turn and fire upon the chopper one last time as I watched it crash and explode. I think this is when I realized that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the best single-player game I have ever played. i generally agree with Sessler's opinions, and hearing him make comments like that is just more evidence that Uncharted 2 is probably going to be something very special. even after playing his video review on the show, they continued to discuss the game and he really stressed that not only does the game do individual things like gunplay, story, or graphics incredibly well, but it also manages to combine them seamlessly in a way that very few games (if any) have managed before. you can check out both his video and written reviews over at G4tv.com. this game really can't be released soon enough I saw that episode too and was surprised to hear him say that. Glad though because I was always planning on getting the game. Just finished the first for the 3rd time last weekend. But I gotta say the multi demo turned me off. Didn't like it at all. But that is okay since I am only buying for the SP. Week after next can't come quick enough. Biggest gaming week for the rest of the year for me. Yoohoo!

Played the demo and found the humor great. That, far more than the gameplay itself, is why I want to play it. Thus why I struggle with whether to buy or rent. I have a feeling that after playing through once the humor will have zero affect on me the second playthrough. And I absolutely will not pay full price for a one-time-only game.
But I am watching it closely now because I will admit the demo has me at least putting it on my radar when prior to it I could not care less.
But replacing Uncharted? Not in a billion years!

I would have to say the 360, but I prefer and think the PS3 is 10x the better console. The 360, to me, is the single worst electronic device I have every owned.
As a pure gamer, the Nintendo, regardless of numbers, is a joke to me.
That's my perspective, as worthless as it is really.

Only in if the SP campaign turns out to be all that. Waiting for reviews and gamer impressions everywhere. Plus, only buying one game in Oct so gotta choose wisely. Still have Splinter Cell Conviction and Uncharted 2 to consider.
But I like the realism of it. Will definitely get it once cheap. Always get games when they get old and cheap.

I don't know if Owain is reading this thread, but I am curious how he got so many headshots. He has over 700 headshots and think the next person on my friends leaderboard has under 400!
I'm not sure I can answer that with anything other than, I shoot them in the head. I guess I tend to shoot a bit high at first and walk it down usually, If I don't get a headshot right off the bat. Also if I sneak in the room and don't have a melee oppurtunity right there, then I will line a headshot up for my first shot. I have done a playthrough on normal and a 100% playthrough on hardcore. I am currently going through on insane or at least until I hit level 50. I don't understand how you do that. When my game on normal was over I watched all the credits, got my scores then my only option was to exit. Which I did. I was then taken back to the main menu where I could continue my last checkpoint or start a new. So, I started a new and was treated to level 1 again. Not wanting to start from scratch again, I got out and moved on from the game probably never to pick it up again. I think if you could have started with the same leveled character again on another playthrough they should have stated so somewhere, somehow, etc. Now I am screwed. Loved the game on my normal playthrough though. Had to switch to easy in a few frustrating parts, but hope more games like it come out. Just shows what can be done. I hear TrialsHD is just as good.

This is the ONLY arcade game I have liked so far. Love it. I can going through this many times. Plus, I understand that your leveling up carries to the next play through, and the next, and so on. Finally, a good game this summer.

I actually am enjoying it more than I thought I would. I took back FEAR 2 after 2 hours and got this. I actually like it alot more than FEAR 2 that's for sure. The weapons have a nice punch and the grenades are the best in any game I have ever played imo. They sound right and boy, do they tear em up. Parts everywhere. I am not a big fan of the whole Doom-demon theme going on, but it is not a show-stopper. I would not in a million years pay full price, but I would definitely rent or wait for a sub $20 and pick up without hesitation.
Oh, and mulit interests me not, so, nothing to say there. Doesn't sound good anywho.
