I may have covered this before on here somewhere, but I have the DVD versions of the Originals from the Limited Edition collections released in 2006 they look fine, and if a company like Lowry(who did the Bond movie restorations)could get hold of them, they can polish them up even more ready for HD conversion(i have no idea how it is all done,so....er..yeah)

The first disc were the Special Edition versions while the second bonus discs on each film were the original versions

These are pictures i just took with my Godawful Potato PSV camera,so forgive the shit quality

Spoiler for Hiden:
The running time will be different to U.S versions of the originals due to the frame rate difference (PAL/NTSC)

I watched the original version of Star Wars a few months back and was laughing at the medal ceremony at the end,you can easily tell that a lot of the rebel crowd at the end are made from cardboard cutouts

FWIW-I think even this version i have of Star Wars is a later version(Even though it says 1977 Theatrical Version),because it has 'Chapter IV' at the beginning of the space scroll, pretty sure when the film was first released there was no chapter numbering, but everything else is there(or should i say is not there..no Jabba scene,Han shoots first etc)

Don't forget... The Power of the Cloud! Games don't need to ship everything on disc but can download things from the cloud as needed. And from what I've read, they are working on Blu-ray formats with multiple layers that can hold 200 or 250 GB. But you're right, the normal dual-layer capacity is 50GB.

I have been hearing stories that they are working on multi layered BRs for years, but yeah i never thought of the cloud,if downloading so much off there is an option(i thought it was mainly for small stuff)

I can't believe that Call of Duty Ghosts is nearly 40gig,WTF is up with that?..it doesn't look or run that much better than when i had the 360 version

And then there is Forza 5,again nearly 40gig,it makes me shudder that we are all asking for more tracks and wondering how much more space will be needed if Turn 10 do that for Forza 6

And another matter,we are what?..1 month into next gen and games are taking up 40 gig, with the Blu Ray being able to hold 50gig(That's still the case isn't it?),so sooner rather than later we could be back to 2+ discs per game, disc swapping and everything else

right?..or am i missing something?

and I am using Pin more than i did on the 360,just because i can get to stuff like Settings easier, rather than go looking for them in the apps or hope its been rotated on the Home screen

Uhm, no. Sorry, but the SW movies are overblown. It was a B movie that went over budget. Phenomenal special effects of its day but so much of what made it great has been tinkered and tampered with - the characters and the license are pretty much dead to me.

Is it true FOX still owns the current 6 Star Wars films until 2020 apart from the original Star Wars film, that they have the rights for forever?

Pretty sure Fox has just been the distributor for the previous films but Lucas owned all rights to the them, which would now be with Disney.

Just looked it up(should have done that last night),and it seems from this link that it's exactly what i had heard icon_confused

One of the biggest fan questions surrounding Disney’s purchase of LucasFilm has been answered. While Disney now owns the rights to the Star Wars universe and all future films going forward, 20th Century Fox has retained the rights to the first six movies. The original film, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, is theirs forever, and they’ll own the final five films, Episodes I-III, V and VI, through May 2020. This makes the fan dream of releasing the original, unedited trilogy box set very difficult.

Looks like one of the prequel stand alone films WILL be about Boba Fett.....before Episode II was released i would have been over the moon about this, now i wish they leave the character alone, they have done enough damage to it

Who are these "they" you're talking about? We are dealing with a different company now, and in particular, with one less George Lucas.

Oh i see,so Disney will just ignore everything from Episode II?..damage is done

What damage? Boba Fett barely features in the prequel movies.

we find out he is a clone of Jango,so we now know what he looks like and have to brace ourselves for the Kiwi accent all the way through this upcoming movie

Even the "He's no good to me dead" line that was overdubbed in SE Empire made me cringe

and we know he inherited EVERYTHING from his Father, even Slave I,he couldn't have stolen it from a past target,no instead it's a hand me down Tongue

but then again, its not really about what he looks like, its the fact that they gave him an identity in the first place,Original Trilogy Boba was so much more mysterious

The only thing this movie can offer is how he trains to become a Bounty Hunter, gone are the way he got his outfit, gone is the way he got his ship and we even know his motivation for what he does..God help us if we have to watch him going on about his Father's death all the way through it,fine if his father was a good guy,but he wasn't...he deserved the 'Deep Throat Purple Dildo' treatment

Microsoft is listening keenly to gamer feedback on Xbox One, which will help it deliver updates to make it "the Xbox fans are expecting".

So said Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb in a discussion over the firm's extensive plans to update the console following its launch in November 2013.

"If you look back at the Xbox 360′s launch, what it was in 2005 when it launched is completely different from what it is now," Hryb told Canada.com. It's fascinating to see the different things that have come along. Things iterated," he pointed out.

"So we are absolutely committed to adding new features to the Xbox One over the course of its life span."

Microsoft is listening to feedback "daily", Hryb went on to say, and is using this this information to shape its development of the console.

"When we look back and look at what we've done, we want to continue to adapt the system to what gamers want. The team that works on Xbox are gamers themselves. We want to build the system that we use and that we know gamers would enjoy using," said Hryb.

"We're going to continue to refine the system and make it what the Xbox fans are expecting and what they want. We're listening to the feedback every single day. I've already seen some changes in the operating system internally with what we're building."

Dark Horse Comics loses the Star Wars license

No surprise i guess,just a shame

Quote
Should have seen this coming. Ending a relationship more than two decades old, Disney has informed Dark Horse the Star Wars license will go to Disney-owned Marvel Comics in 2015.
Or should I say "return to Disney-owned Marvel Comics", the original publisher Dark Horse took over the license from in 1991. Disney purchased Marvel Comics in 2009, and then purchased LucasFilm in 2012. Comic book fans have been waiting for this particular announcement since then.

Dark Horse founder announced the loss of the license in a heartfelt "End of an Era" message, promising a memorable final run with the franchise.

It is ironic that this announcement comes at a time when Dark Horse is experiencing its most successful year ever. For obvious reasons, we have prepared for this eventuality by finding new and exciting projects to place on our schedule for 2015 and beyond. Will they take the place of Star Wars? That's a tall order, but we will do our best to make that happen. In the meantime, 2014 may be our last year at the helm of the Star Wars comics franchise, but we plan to make it a memorable one. We know that fans of the franchise will expect no less. The Force is with us still.
At the same time, Marvel announced plans to publish Star Wars comics in 2015.

Quote
"Dark Horse Comics published exceptional Star Wars comics for over 20 years, and we will always be grateful for their enormous contributions to the mythos, and the terrific partnership that we had," said Carol Roeder, director of Lucasfilm franchise publishing, Disney Publishing Worldwide. "In 2015, the cosmic adventures of Luke, Han, Leia and Chewbacca will make the lightspeed jump back to Marvel, to begin a new age of adventures within the Star Wars universe."

Case in point: Bjorn. The way Gandalf foists the band on Bjorn, and how it's exactly what he did to Bilbo at the beginning of the book (and one of the best parts of film one!), it's funny... and they turned it into them running into his house uninvited and slamming the door... and then remove all of their interaction with him. Boo!

Yeah that upset me when i saw the film as well,'Queer Lodgings' is like the second biggest chapter in the book, but the Theatrical version was quite pointless,PJ has promised us more of him in the Extended Version..so there is that to look forward to,but as you said,it won't be like the books introduction where Gandalf is explaining the adventure they have had and introducing the Dwarves 2 by 2 to Beorn as we have already seen them break in,but i guess it would be like you mentioned, too much like what happened in the first movie(except they cut that short as well by having them all fall into Bilbos house when he opened the door)

However, like JCC,i am loving these films more than LOTR at the moment, maybe because i have watched LOTR a million and one times and maybe a little burned out on them, and i am hungry for more Middle Earth, right now from the first two films these feel like the perfect companion films to LOTR...kinda gutted that Hobbit 3 got put back to its original release date Dec 2014 instead of June or July whenever it was first moved

Picked up an Xbox One today, not got any games yet(well i have Killer Instinct full game),but i like what i see,it looks like its going to take some time getting used to how things are ran on here, with all the snapping and uploading..took me awhile to find where my downloads could be seen,as i used to just press the guide button and select active downloads, but found it in the games and apps

I will say that the Xbox One console is uglier than i thought, nearly bigger and bulkier than the VCRs of the 80s

I probably should have expected it,but was a bit disappointed that no Controller lead was not included, least it had some batteries included(and Duracell no less),but going to get me that lead so i don't have to fuck about with batteries all the time

Tried snapping with my SKY Box,it seems pretty good,i have noticed a black screen every now and then when there should be something on,so i think i will watch Sherlock the normal way tonight, just incase Tongue

I will try a Blu Ray later on,already downloaded the app for it(or whatever it was)

It's sad to say its probably Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn, because as soon as i got it i practically stopped playing, having been playing in the beta for so long, the CE now collects dust in the cupboard

It is a nice CE though

Dead Rising 2,you got the steelbook case and the syringe pen and a second disc,i only bought the collection for the steelbook so it would look good next to Dead Rising 1 steelbook, unfortunately it was a steelbook that was all silver and did not have anything on the spine like my DR1 steelbook..so,dumb move by me there

Far Cry 3 would probably make the list as well,i bought the CE,with the bobblehead etc...but i got 100%(both ingame and achievement-wise) within a week,so i thought what the hell, and traded it in
