11 hours in and just made it to disc 2

squall has just tried to assissinate the sorceress(sp?)and got a big chunk of ice through the chest for his troubles,LOL

i have noticed that there are a few similarities from this and number 7 story, member of SeeD(ex-member of SOLDIER)...helping resisitance Forest Owls(Avalanche)...going up against the president of Shinra(president of Galbania)...president dying....and Squall and Cloud both have the same attitudes at the start of the game (i.e they dont really give a shit about anyone)...and sephiroth used to be part of SOLDIER and turned bad guy,Seifer used to be part of SeeD and turned bad guy

its a lust buy for my Wii,but alas only comes in at around 5-10 in my list of must buys....360 games and PS3 games due around then take priority(bioshock, blue dragon, warhawk, medal of honor:airbourne, stranglehold)
14804  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: stranglehold demo now on marketplace on: August 09, 2007, 09:24:34 AM
the graphics, well especially the character models in the cutscenes remind me off the screenshots i have seen of niko in GTA4...wierd texture for the skin surface

so the only great thing about the Elite now is the fact that it comes with the bigger hard drive, and thats its black?

if thats true about those people who recieve the 3 rings of death getting the new ones, how many more systems will get the 3 rings of death, but not by accident?,you'll be getting people leaving the 360 near the oven or something, lol

My download is at about 35% and it's time for me to go so it will have to wait until later today.

I've said before that I don't mind short games and I would much rather play something all the way through and want to restart than to never finish it.  For example, I didn't mind the length of Max Payne.  However, I surely hope that each of the 9 levels in Stranglehold is longer than 25 minutes...that is just a bit too freaking short.

i tell a lie,i just played it again...its 7 levels from hong kong to chicago, lol

spin attack and barrage are the other D-pad moves, when finishing the demo once you will ge the barrage, which has tequila empty his magazines and reload thme and then rapidly shoot

oh,and there will also be multiplayer matches

as for the 25 minutes,i am not sure, actually i doubt we get a full level in the demo...i'm hoping not anyway,it finished pretty much a bit of a cliffhanger,so i am hoping that level will continue in the full game....it was just the demo that took me 25 minutes
14810  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PSP Slim hands on video on: August 08, 2007, 02:19:38 PM
for gaming on the PSP,its been hit and miss...metal gear:port ops was good, and i loved the warriors ...but the GTA games werent as good as i was hoping they would be,mainly down to the controls,no matter how much messing about changing them did

i am very much though looking forward to silent hill origins, that does look good
14811  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Don't forget to update your Wiis on: August 08, 2007, 02:16:50 PM
apparently the update also let you use USB keyboards, even though it didnt mention it in the details

i havent tried this, but thought you may like to know
14812  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: stranglehold demo now on marketplace on: August 08, 2007, 02:12:58 PM
okay just finished playing the demo

everything,or nearly everything can be destroyed, gun fights wont let down the john woo/chow yun fat fans, its mega violent

first of all, when you approach a table or a waist high bar,you will slide over it automatic,i felt like dick van dyke when i first started playing as i tried to weave inbetween a set of tables

right trigger is to fire(fire both guns if double wielding)
left trigger is to dive(to dive and shoot takes you into tequila mode)..tequila mode being slo-mo matrix/max payne style
D-pad....
left is to heal yourself, you get this oppertunity to do so,the more stylish your kills are,you earn stars and therfor it fills a bar on the D-pad,later on in the game the UP on the Dpad becomes the precise shot, where after you press it you aim and then it goes into a little cut scene following your bullet to the target....i am guessing that the full game will have uses for the other directions of the D -pad

A button is to switch weapons,if you have already picked up another weapon

RB is to go into tequila mode automatically

health packs are also on show(at least were in the normal mode)to regenerate a bit of health

pistols, golden pistols and shotguns were the weapons i picked up along the way

instead of just shooting your enemies, you can shoot shop signs etc that are above them and this will cause them to fall on the target...or even Gas canisters can be shot to explode

cutscenes are good, feels very much like a movie....oh and look out for John Woo himself as a barman(little cameo)

the graphics are good, not mega great, but they do the job,the face maps of chow yun fat and others are good, its got the real gritty feel of Hong Kong that you often see in the movies

at the end of the demo it said that i had unlocked Hard mode, and tequila bomb, whether i have or not in the demo i dont know,i will try it out later....it also said that there were 9 levels in the full game spreading from Hong Kong to Chicago, hopefully then these levels will be lengthy......the demo level is split up by a few cutscenes

nothing else i can think of at the moment

OH,1 more thing, half way through the level you will come across the first of 2 stand offs....which takes place all slo mo with about 4 or 5 enemies, you have to target them while dodgeing their bullets using the right stick, its pretty cool

and yeah the download took about 1hr 45 minutes altogether....and took about 20-25 minutes to play...still good fun though

EDIT: i have just heard that a lot of people, mainly England and America are having problems downloading this, they are either stuck on 0% for 10-15minutes or they get an error code, its about time that MS did something about the slowness of the popular downloads, using more servers perhaps..i'm not really sure how it works

but anyway,be alert,if you get the error code or the download isnt moving, wait until tomorrow ....it can wait icon_eek

I think the MGS games are quite fun, but I'm... shocked to hear people think the writing is good. I think it is funny, in a silly way, and then trite and cumbersome as you sit through 30 minutes of cutscene.
What about the writing do you find brilliant? I can see the sardonic....

yeah i think of the MGS stories as tongue in cheek, fun and take the seriousness of it with a pinch of salt

MGS3 is my favourite metal gear game, when snake got the eye patch,it seemed to complete him,and as the character was based of snake pliskin from escape from new york,i would say the eye patch was a long time coming

NOTE TO SELF:have to start port ops again sometime
14820  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Eternal Sonata demo...on OXM disc on: August 07, 2007, 03:02:29 PM
yay,i finally played the demo as it has appeared on the U.S marketplace(had to use my U.S account)

i loved the demo,i thought it was great, the graphics were eye candy for me,and the fights were easy to get into.....must admit,i did stand still thinking that if a slashed i would run over automatically to the beasts....but running over to them made the fighting a bit more fun

i finished the demo, which was a decent enough size, the only gripes i have really is the fact as how on the rails it is

but other than that, this which was already on my list to buy,has just made a couple more leaps towards the top of my list(which must span some 20 titles now)

i had heard the same about bad previews and was downhearted, but after playing that i think it would be a crime for me to listen to those previews......................if i buy it,and like it i will have a cool game,if i dont buy it,i can exchange it

Curse me and my forgetfulness of how Roman Numerals work. FF9 had the card game in it? I thought 8 and 11 did.

Either that, or 9 did have the game, but I hated it SO much from 8 (basically you needed a FAQ just to play the game right as the rules were VERY poorly defined ingame), that I skipped it entirely.

yeah 8,9 and 11 have the card game

but with number 8 there were different rules for different regions on the world map

and part of the game in number 9 you had to win 3 games in row at the tournament

i like the game very much online, its even more funny seeing someone, flip out miles away off the track...had me giggling and then crashing myself...but again,i am very....whats the word...er,shit!!...best i have done is 4th place, but usually pull in a 7th place
one thing that bugs me though is a few times i have got stuck on the rocks ,and cant get away, therefor either having to come in last(not being able to move)or having to quit

Tidus is frigging awesome, and if you hate his character or think he is just whiney or emo, I cannot fathom that you are really getting the message FFX is trying to get across.

The olnly message i got from Tidus was that he is a giant whiney douchewaffle. He all but killed FFX for me.

You know, Cal, I loved FFX, and Tidus grew on me in the second half of the game (loved the ending), but man... the first half... ugh. He really made it hard to like the game for quite a while. disgust

surely any gaming site(this one for instance)is good enough for all...right?

i dont know, perhaps thats offensive....they have say,British only communities, and Canadian or American only,so i guess this is the same

14835  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Final Fantasy VIII-replay on: August 06, 2007, 01:08:25 AM
okay, found my first glitch while playing the game on the PS3,nothing big

while on the world map and you get taken into a fight, the screen goes all black with a few multicoloured lines going across the screen(its meant to go all mulitcoloured lines to look as though its blending into the fight screen),its then fine when you are fighting, and its fine when i go into a fight in the fire cavern a bit later, just on the world screen is gets really distorted, than it should...i actually thought i had broke the PS3 for a second,lol......but it doesnt disturb the play anyway

the game listed on the BC list for europe from the 1.80 update says that it will have noticble issues,if thats the worse then its nothing

so,Quitis whatever her name is(your teacher),has been giving me a tutorial on the GFs and elementals ....which i must say is the most boring tutorial ever created in any game....FACT(or not really a fact, just because i put it there and put it in capitals)

had my GFs learn boost,so that when summoned in a fight,i press select to make just the fighting screen appear(no stats for my fighters) and then mega fast press 'square button' over and over to make my GFs attack stronger....i love doing that because i am so good at it
