to be honest it has been a bit of a mess the release of this game

first they said its gonna be simultanious release for all versions in August....then here in the UK we found out just last week that our retail version wasnt coming out until the 14th sep...then our download gets delayed two days(which is bullshit...its just a cover from sony so they can say they have given us something decent on the thursday store and get out of giving us some cool demos)

and now only the download is out in America today........bad enough the game only has 5 maps,LOL

No single player.  No way to play offline.  Though, you can set up a game & password protect it so you're the only one in the game...

damn it,that means you Americans will get some easy kills on me until i figure out how to fly the sodding thing(its not out until thursday for me)

for anyone who has downloaded this game

can you tell me if there is a offline mode....i know there is no single player story, its just that i want to get used to the controls and the maps before going online and flying into a tree or something straight away

it would be good to scout the maps before hand and find decent sniping posistions or plan an attack... icon_twisted icon_twisted

maybe a game with bots

because i prolly will be downloading this(i was gonna buy it but i got a headset today by chance)
14648  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3]IGN review of Heavenly Sword on: August 28, 2007, 04:27:13 PM
a few more review scores have come in(we knew the first 3)

Edge Magazine: 60%

IGN UK: 7/10 (70%)

IGN US: 7/10 (70%)

PSW: 80%

EGM: 8, 8, 9 (85%)

Gamepro: 4.5/5 (90%)

Play Magazine: 100%

i dont believe for one minute that this game is a 100% game...its alright saying games are 10/10...because they want to say its better than a 9/10 and cant say anything else really...but they could of said a 96% or 97% just to make it believeable, sure the game can and could be great, but no way will it be a 100.....have you all got that!!!! retard icon_smile

Alright, the story may be longer than FFXII's, but from everything I've read, I'd be very hard pressed to believe that the story in Blue Dragon is better.

final fantasy 12s story IMO was the poorest of the series...in fact is was pretty dire, bad guys weren't up to their best, half the gang was part of the story,i have no idea what the other half were there for

everything else about the game was great,combat,towns,graphics...but i just didnt care in the end about the characters, like i did in other games
14653  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Blue Dragon Getting Some Poor Reviews on: August 28, 2007, 02:11:26 PM
i never did play DQ8 so i wouldnt know

in that link the first guy posted
Quote
It's an old school JRPG, aka, 90% grind/leveling, 9% exploring, 1% story. That's fine. I played through Dragon Quest 8, and that game followed the exact same formula.

i totally disagree with this ...

1st of all:90% grinding-the grinding isnt really needed as much as most otherJRPGs...its there but nothing major, you mainly level while going through the game....unless he has a japanese version or a version with actual difficulty levels, but because he posted this yesterday,i must presume he has our version

2nd :9% exploring....i would say to be fair its definetly up to you how much you want to explore, you want to get every last bit of stuff hidden?...its gonna be 40% at least....,for me i would say 20-30%,i visit every room in every town i look through bookcases, vases and everything

3rd: 1% story.....??? i have no words for this...some cut scnes are nice and lengthy(not MGS lengthy),the story is a lot more intersting than a lot of games out there....actually,i may be so bold as to say the story is better than FFXII

when does this come out for U.S?,is it today or tomorrow,i am looking forward to your impressions, and i will be very suprised if a majority of you who buy it dont like the game, because if you are gonna buy the game that prolly means you like these sort of games, and this is up there as i have said...........its a shame that many people are gonna dismiss this because of the kiddie look(hey the 20 year old has bouncing tits...is that good enough for you?)

Please.  Mass Effect is a big enough title to have about 20 threads.  Of course, half of them will be [spoiler free] tagged as well.  Here's some of the crap I'm predicting - it will be hysterical:

1. Topic: Mass Effect - Official Impressions Thread  (aka: Watch as my thread gets 7 bajillion responses, I rock!11!)

2. Topic: Mass Effect - Official Impressions [Spoiler Free] :  Yeah right, who is this person kidding?

3. Topic: ME - Official Weapons Discussion : Yep, this one will be needed alright!

4. Topic: ME - How did you make your Commander? :  This is my current setup... what's yours!?

5.  Topic: ME - Things they messed up on : This will be the nitpickers dream thread.  The tires on the land vehicle don't have the exact right psi?  The npc's voice isn't alien enough?  Biotic power XYZ is overpowered?  This is the thread for you!  Come share how the game was overhyped and how you 'told us so.'

6. Topic: ME - I got mine!  Target broke street date, playing NOW!! :  Followed by: "Dood!  Kool!  Where do u live!?!?!

7.  Topic: Mass Effect - 60fps? : Because God only knows we need a thread devoted solely to the 'perceived' framerate of the game.

and on, and on, and on, and on, and on...

LOL,you forgot one....Topic:Mass Effect 2-ideas for the sequel-while people are only 5 or so hours into the game, this one will turn up no doubt...and if no one else does it then i'll do it!!! icon_lol

This new add-on pack will add over a dozen new features, including ten new characters, two additional levels, two new leader boards, and a brand new game mode. Bomb-Up Pack 1 is expected to launch on August 29 and will cost 250 Microsoft Points ($3.13).

"With the overwhelming success of Bomberman LIVE it became clear to us, as Bomberman fans and game producers, that the already stellar game could be indefinitely augmented with myriad gameplay additions in the future," said John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "Hudson is committed to providing refreshingly competitive, fast-paced multiplayer gameplay over Xbox LIVE® Arcade."

Ten New Characters - With new characters like "Little Bomby Foo Foo" the bunny and "Rocky Bomboa" the boxer, players can customize their in-game Bomberman in countless new ways.

Two Additional Levels - New arenas include "High Stakes," a Las Vegas-style casino level that allows players to select any gimmick they want, and "Zeppelin," a level set aboard a dirigible which features tornado environmental hazards that incapacitate players.

One New Game Mode - "Frag" mode will allow players to pre-set the number of enemies they must bomb in order to win the game.

Two New Leaderboards - Dominate the competition on two new ranking systems on the Xbox LIVE® network. The new leaderboards will track performance on both a weekly and an all-time basis for the new "Zeppelin" map.

part 1...final fantasy on the NES
part 2...final fantasy 2 and 3 for the Famicom
part 3...final fantasy 4 for the super nintendo and final fantasy 5 for the super famicom
part 4...final fantasy 6 for the super nintendo
part 5....final fantasy 7 for the playstation
part 6...final fantasy 8 and 9 for the playstation

in each one it also talks about the reamkes and spin offs of that particular FFnumber...like in the FF7 vid it also talks briefly about dirge of ceberus etc...and if anything they are a good walk down memory lane, and will guarentee you digging the old titles out to play again

well i have 9 hrs on the clock, but i am not that much further in the story......just spent 3 hrs just ranking/levelling up.

all below will make more sense prolly when you get the game
jobs(ranks) are as follows:(they actually go to 99 i think, but listed below are the ranks that you last get something for them)

generalist...rank level max:36
sword master...rank level max:32
guardian....rank level max:33
monk....rank level max:31
assassin....rank level max:35
black magic...rank level max:36
white magic...rank level max:33
barrier magic....rank level max:50
support magic....rank level max:35

hint:try and level up 'generalist' a few levels early in the game, then you will get extra skill slots...my team kicks ass right now...they all counter(well 50% chance, which is a monk skill)...they all gain HP after striking a foe(which is a sword master skill) they all regenerate magic power while walking about(which is a black magic skill)

i had to level all the ranks(ranks being jobs)to get the skills, and then i levelled the generalist...to 15 that gives you 3 extra skill slots(you start with 4)

and all the time my actual level for my character was still going up(character level and job level are seperate)

on my way to the undersea cavern now.

this game is fast becoming my best buy of the year(but take it on board that i am a big RPG/FF fan)

sorry,i havent played it on the PC

for nearly a gig,the demo downloaded pretty fast.......the graphics look good, the sound is good and the guns feel pretty good

but, apart from landing anywhere after jumping out of a plane.....the demo provided me with the same old, same old mission to destroy the usual BFGs(big f**kin' guns)....didnt seem that long either

i will still pick this up,for the multiplayer as i am on COD3 early everynight, hopefully this will be as good online.....but,we have seen it all before on the single player

just like the call of duty games i will prolly play through the single player once and then just go online for it from then on...i was hoping this demo could of been online as well...no such luck
