i hated Too Human, but perhaps its better with Co-op

and yeah i am gonna go for marvel ultimate alliance as well,i enjoyed that game a lot

not feeling the love on this game at all, very bored...i have hardly done a thing(taken over 4 bases, done the helicoptor, jet bombing, races and shooting side quests and picked up a few things around the world and i have 40% already)..hoping the gameplay may change a little, all that i seem to be doing is taking over bases and travelling to those bases, that takes more time...nice gameworld though
13323  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mercenaries 2 impressions thread on: September 13, 2008, 08:36:07 AM
okay, yeah it was my mansion....i talked with that Irish Helicoptor guy and he told me about Eva and her garage and thats when i noticed on my map that her place was flashing, after getting there(which was a bit of a trek)i raced her car with BIG wheels, around this track and got her on my team.....and then i talked to her and got that Misha jet pilot pissed up guy on my team after destroying a bunker(and it took me ages to find out how to use the laser thing,as i had ran out of oil)

enjoying the game a bit more now, just every half hour or so,something else stumps me,and i have to stumble across the way to use it(like that laser thing)

bit gutted though that i can't play my co-op games with any of my 95% American friends list...PAL and NTSC are seperate(EA did this for Army Of Two as well)

I know I'm late to the party but I've been playing this game for the last 3-4 weeks and I'm so completely hooked.  I'm about 48 hours into it, everyone's around level 38 and I'm just heading into the tower at Pharos.  I'd originally started when it was released, got 8 hours into it and stopped for some reason.  Now... It's pretty much all I've been playing.  Been awhile since I was this absorbed in a game.

for me the best thing about this FF was how easy the Levelling up was, best of the series at that, past FFs put the word 'grind' to good use...i am hoping FF13 keep it,but i knwo they wont, they always change in every one

and now i have done the first lot of challenges from the Aussie bird(she sounds australian to me anyway)..and the helicoptor pilot...now i am not sure where i am supposed to go..she doesnt give me anymore missions,so i have just be driving about the world, picking up human targets for the U.P and finding stashes of money for my helicoptor pilot to pick up

If you don't know where to go, pull up the map and look for flashing icons. Head to that and do the mission there.

yeah i tried that but couldnt see anything(you mean the yellow icons right?)..just has a lot of green icons meaning the people you can capture or the oil tanks..which i think are side missions/collectables

i'll be back on it soon,so i will check again

not sure if i like this yet...played afew missions, keep getting confused as to what i am actually meant to be doing,or where i am going

just did the UP mission where you have to have the helicoptor drop a listening device at 3 spots...i didnt know that i was meant to get there by my own means...so i stood on the helipad at U.P...for ages pressing all the buttons trying to call the helicoptor...figured it out in the end though

the challenges that the Irish guy gives you(whinching),that was another first try- press everything...second try- pass

must admit,i laughed out loud when i went to pick up 'The Deverstater'

having a better time with this than Too Human though

i really loved the first, and was also pretty much the first sandbox game i had completed

i do want this one as well, but from the trailers i have seen the graphics, look no where near as good as the first game(one trailer i saw it was the insurance jobs side missions i think and the guy throws himself in front of the train, but it looked nearly last gen)

am i right or am i just remembering SR1 too fondly?

168,000 bought Too Human.......167,500 are on ebay or at Gamestop for sale now. What a horrible, HORRIBLE, game.

pretty much agree with you,the story i am interested in,the graphics are decent enough, but the actual gameplay..is uninspiring to say the least...took me 3 hrs to get through the second level(if you want to call it a level),and it just consisted of wave after wave of enemies for you to kill...very boring..CVG called it 'nothing more than a dungeon crawler'..spot on..but that still makes me unhappy,i had been looking forward to the game for awhile

as for these sales i am looking at the Xbox 360...this is before the recent pirce drop,right?..so next months should be interesting to see

For Sony fans, it looks like the Game Boy Advance title Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories will be receiving a surprise port to the PlayStation 2 this fall. The new title is rumored to feature "all new 3D bosses and cutscenes," and should retail for $29.99.

apparently it will also include the final mix of KH2 as well....thats what i read yesterday

13333  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Recommend me a review site on: September 09, 2008, 08:53:59 PM
been getting more and more cheesed off with the video game magazines i buy...i get 3 magazines,i wont name them but they have started to get pretty lame IMO,
e.g 1 magazine had a preview of the new WWF game which was 7 pages long and the game isnt due until Xmas, and in the same magazine they had a review for battlefield bad company which was 3 paragraphs long/half a page...two sentances for the single player!!!

so,i think its best for me to look upon t'internet(as we up north of England say it)for my reviews...
1)-it will save me money as those magazines are no longer cheap...even if i do go for the ones that dont hold a disc
2)-the reviews will be out in time for when the game is due,not when the game has been out for two weeks
3)-i wont be tempted to read it in the bath and fall asleep and get it wet

i am thinking of the likes of IGN or Gamespot...gamespot i have heard are not that great,IGN i have just been on there and it was so-so

so what sites do you go on to get your reviews?

i am for 360 mainly..but i am also interested in the PS3 and the Wii

thanks

So how's the beta so far, heard a lot about long load times and freezes when it first came out Friday. I'm just going to wait and get it through Qore this Friday.

Load times are real slow.  Friday it would take 10-15 tries to even log in, but it looks that they fixed that.  After that, expect to sit at a loading screen for 3-4 minutes, even more, to get into a game.

You can no longer lean using left or right on the d-pad, it is done through six-axis motion control leaning the controller left and right.  Pretty much the same with kneeling.  If you are behind cover, you dont auto-knee.  You have to hold the controller level to get him to kneel.

ewww..i am all for sixaxis controls but not if they make playing the game awkward,is there an option to turn it off?..was anything really wrong with the old controls?(its been a looong time since i last played SOCOM on the ps2)

what happens if you are going about and then you hold the controller level just by accident,do you go into the kneel?...and how fast does it work?...like take a second to make the controller level, does he drop straight away?

loading screens...as its only a beta,if that amount of time turns up in the retail, then i would be more bothered about it than i am at the moment

i went back to this a few weeks ago and got my 100%

great game..and there is lots of other stuff to do,go cart racing was the best, first lot of races are in the carnival and then they go to around town and when you get first on all races you get the go cart..and the races are very easy, and the go-cart is very fast...beating up the Pirate kid for his hat and eye patch on the island was pretty funny

also the arcade machines around Bullworth are cool, some are really annoying but its good what they have

i am still hopeing they make a Bully 2

It sounds like I missed some very entertaining sidequests. I never got the go-cart, never saw the pirate kid. One thing I was very happy to see was that no mission, or even the final "boss", were godawful difficult. Just about any mission could be finished the first time through, with only one or two needing a second attempt. It made for a relaxing experience.

I don't think they wil make a Bully 2, unfortunately. The 360 version supposedly sold only around 200,000 units, and the Wii version did only 25% of that.

thats a shame that it only sold so many perhaps the PS2 players didnt think it was worth buying again(although i also had it for the PS2),and a big yes on the mission difficulties...cakewalk if ever there was one

classes were just the right difficulty IMO....the biology one was a killer, class 5 took quite a few attempts.....and,er yeah..i got an map from my National Geographic magazine for the geography ones...and paused the game during the english classes so i could make as many anagrams as i could from the given letters in my own time,LOL

the errands that appear in the game a lot of the time wouldnt show up..i checked on xbox.com and a lot of other people were having the same problem, but the solution is to reset your 360 and load the game up again...the errands show up then for some reason

It looks like there is a double dose of news coming from the folks behind Call of Duty: World at War. Today Activision announced the release date and another special surprise via press release:

"Boot camp will soon take on a new meaning, as Activision Publishing, Inc. and developer Treyarch, have confirmed plans for Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer betas in October for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and separately for download on Windows PC. These betas will serve as an early chance for players to practice the tactics needed for survival in the intense chaos of Call of Duty: World at War's Pacific and European theaters. Players will experience the game's new squad system, as well as fan favorite perks and kill streaks.

All preparation for the full battle will commence on November 11, 2008 when Call of Duty: World at War is released to retailers nationwide.

"We are excited to share a sneak peak of Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer with the community," says Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio Head. "The team has worked hard to build upon the great history and foundation of Call of Duty multiplayer and we can't wait to go online to ramp up for our November launch."" -- Activision Press Release

1-yup,gamefaqs(SH 3 i still had the bradygames guide from yesteryear...a lot of cool stuff can be unlocked after finishing your first game...like lightsabres and laser beams coming from Heathers eyes to use as weapons)

2-easy setting-i only want the story out of these games before i get number 5..i have waaaay too many other games i need to get back to, to take my time with these(like double xp weekend COD4.not this weekend, following weekend)

3-silent hill 1,2 and 4 i have finished before and i pretty much remembered everything,i only had to consult the GFs a few times during those games(SH4 is this weekend)...with the SH games, its easier for me say if i am in the Hospital,to just check every door and eliminate all other possibilities ...no matter what difficulty level i have it on,i can clear the Hospital and Motel etc, very quickly(and the otherside versions)

i am only putting the time i finish the games in these posts, incase someone else wants to leg it through the games before the release of the next game..and i said SH3 was 5hrs...felt like 40hrs,terrible story, voice acting is pretty much the worse i have seen..and i was looking forward to it finishing

and i saw a video of number 5 and it had ...

Is the story pretty good so far?

Mmmm, as to the story, I'm probably not the best judge, I always go Gameplay and Immersion first, if those are good, then Graphics and Story are the gravy. If you are familiar with FFXII - I'd say that the story is not nearly as good as FFXII, the cutscene graphics are nowhere near that level, and the story is not as well filled in either. That could be because it's taken me so long just to figure out how to play the game, so the story scenes are sort of few and far between.  Partly though I think that the story is "not great, but acceptable." Sorry I can't be more specific than that...  icon_confused

thats not good for me Myto,i hated the story of FF12,...too much politics..or at least i hated the story when compared to other FFs(not 10)..or nearly as fun as past FFs

i got two(does a black scren come on your TV telling you the code for the fault?),and what i did was unplugged it at the power brick(not the outlet)..and it became a 3RROD...however when i reset everything it became a two ring again...so i just rang them up,blagged* them that it was 3 rings, they asked me some questions about the light on the power brick,i told them it was red i think instead of green or orange when the 360 isnt on

and to be honest i dont think they even checked as i just got another 360 sent to me,not my original(as my original was a launch machine, and now my 360 says it was manufactured 07/2006(our launch was 12/2005)

*blagged....do you have that word?..i think it might even be Mancunian slang...means 'bullshitted'

EDIT:and i agree,it is a great DVD player...i have the small microsoft 360 remote that i got with the launch and its great

You know, two years ago I thought 20 gigs was way too much for a console - I never even came close to filling my 8 gig xbox drive.

i will third this! funny how times change right?  im constantly flirting at the edge of mine, what with demos and songs and such.  i hope i never get into the digital content id be in serious trouble (movies / tv shows and such)

and i think my hd is bigger than the 20 gig too (though i might be lying im not sure).  20 gigs used to be so much... hell i remember when i thought id be set for life the first time i bought an 800 mb hard drive smile

of course the 20 gig HDD on the 360s..is only actually 13gig(as i found out just after i installed all 7-8gig of Final Fantasy 11)

i remember my xbox180 HDD always saying '50,000+ blocks'..all the time, and i had my xbox chipped with over 200 games, and it still didnt break the 50,000

and FWIW myto,i know you have two 360s,just send the dodgy one in to be fixed and stick your HDD on the spare 360..i can't vouch for American xbox service, but i got my 360 back within the week when i RRODed April just gone....seems the service is much better now,as to when my disc tray broke and it took them over two weeks to get my 360 back to me

apparently you DON'T lose any battery time in the new PSP

Quote
The video gaming industry was devastated to learn recently that the recently announced PSP 3000, with its new, brighter screen, built-in microphone and fancy new PS button, may lead to shorter battery life. GameSpot reported recently, based on a conversation with SCEA's John Koller, that higher consumption may reduce battery life by "about 20 minutes." Just soul crushing...

Fortunately, the director of hardware marketing now says that's not actually true, that the PSP 3000 will have an equivalent battery life of four to six hours when gaming, less when watching UMDs. Koller writes on the official PlayStation.blog that "our engineers in Japan worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system including its components" ending our long national nightmare of slightly reduced up-time due to battery charge. Thank you, God!
