13201  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Poll] Fallout 3 - PC or Console - You choose!! on: October 27, 2008, 09:14:40 PM
360 all the way

and its alright aiming with FPS/TPS on PCs with the mouse...just a  shame you have to have your hand in a spazmo hold trying to move your character about using the keyboard(are most of you still using W for up,A for left and D for right,CTRL or SHIFT and SPACE BAR?..if i remember rightly from my COD1 PC days)

controller
sofa
widescreen TV

oh yeah...just need the damn game now!!
13202  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Fable II Impressions thread on: October 27, 2008, 09:09:15 PM
finished the game, messed up at the end
Spoiler for Hiden:
a friend said you can reload the game after you make the decision,so you can choose all 3,and get all 3 achievements,so i chose the worse(money)first, thinking i will get that out of the way..and when i warped to Oakfield after the decision it saved....meaning i was  screwed with no dog,no family but a measily million quid that i could make in 20 minutes

the game was enjoyable, the gaming world was a masterpiece, dog was great, almost everything else was a let down

the uniqueness of yourself wasnt as unique as Lionheart made out,Saints row 2s character is more unique

saves-always ontop of the last one,no chance to make multiple saves...hello!!i have 60gig left on my HDD here

lack of a decent map(as i have said)...give us a decent map and screw off that golden line,so you arent holding our hand all the way through the game..if you turn off that line, you pretty much wondering around for hours because you only have a shitty static map on the menu screen

not included the silver key search.the gargoyles or the archeologist quests, but include the main story quests as well as side quests, and there are about 45 quests altogether(i counted 42 in the guide, included the main story quests)....not very many if you ask me

i was more impressed with Fable 1,i liked this one...but still feel let down some

there was a few things i havent done, but can't say i feel the need to go out and do them..and with Fallout 3 out his Friday, and the commercials all over our TV for it...i think i may just go and trade it in with Infinite Undiscovery for it

13203  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Fable II Impressions thread on: October 26, 2008, 02:23:29 AM
got pretty far tonight

got married,twice.....and instead of killing my first wife,or getting myto to do it for me,i got the follow expression onto her and took to meet some bandits...then i went to the Gypsy camp, got 3 girls onto the follow expression and took them all to bed at the same time...appparently i was great icon_smile

(you also get the swinger achivevement if you take more than one girl to bed at the same time)

Spoiler for Hiden:
did the Spire, not sure about the 10 year absence from your life though, seemed pretty dumb

i am hating that there are no real maps,no real way to take a close up of your character, unless you mess about with camera angles in a tight corner, and also i hate how you can hear dickheads swearing or just shouting through your TV while you are trying to watch a cutscene...with no option to mute them, unless you dont want 'everybody' showing up...seems they could of had more time with the co-op thing

the world is good and big,but could of done with more towns..i think there are about 4,possibly 5 in the whole game..and none are as big as Bowerstone

and at times you can certainly feel the Oblivion vibe, but IMO,its nowhere near as good
13204  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New 360 Dashboard on: October 25, 2008, 09:44:05 AM
yeah i sigend up before, gave my name address,everything...and got this

'An object that you requested, or that was needed to process your request could not be found. Invitation ID'

now, whenever i click on the link,i go straight to this,i guess i can wait until the 19th november

did i say up above that i maybe late to this game?

well,thats a big YES

the game has been delayed until February here

oh,i know lets delay it in europe and release it nearer to when Resident Evil 5 is due out. finger..dumb asses

i have just got home from buying it,i got the game and the guide...however there was a beautiful hardback special edition version of the guide and it looked great, lots of artwork along with the usual strat...but it was an extra tenner, and i only had enough for the game and normal guide

thanks for that CK...is Boomstick an army of darkness(evil dead 3) reference?..and is the Ka-Tet a SKs Dark Tower reference?
13209  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Saints Row 2 on: October 24, 2008, 06:04:38 AM
okay just WOW

finished the Ronin missions last night(the only missions i have done up to now,not really started any other factor)

first of at the cemetary
Spoiler for Hiden:
Aishia's funeral

when Johnny Gat defeats the son of the Ronin ganglord and kick the shit outa him and tip Aishia out of her coffin to put this 'kid' in there...it was just pure excellence...i just thought,NICE

Johnny Gat is great...that bastard better not die on me or double cross me by the end of the game(as i remember the first game)..as he is a cool character

then the last mission of the Ronins
Spoiler for Hiden:
having the Samurai showdown with the boss of the Ronin...you have to wait until the VERY last second to counter him and then you can land damage onto him

the end when he rang up his friend Wong so that his friend could hear the Ronin boss scream as he turned the samurai that was wedged in his back was damn good movie stuff as well

i'm loving this game

12 hrs in...35%

not a fan of crowd control....thats prolly the hardest thing in the game after level 3

what else have i done?

oh yeah i finished the zombie game on your video console in your crib,i just stayed on this balcony and let them all come to you, occasionally a little zombie runs towards you,if you shoot that one,it explodes taking countless other zombies with you(and i ignored the plees of my friends who needed to be revived)...conserve your ammo and go for headshots ...you get a zombie mask when you finish it,and an achievement

ho-hoing...not really sure what it was all about(well.yeah i was...but,just seemed a bit pointless),but i finished level 10 and got myself a pimp suit

not sure how much time i will get with this over the weekend,as Fable 2 is just 3 short hours away
13210  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Fable II Impressions thread on: October 24, 2008, 05:54:16 AM
how are the guns in this game?..as Fable 1 didnt have guns

does it not take anything away from the gameplay?,a friend of mine last year(when we both found out) was dissapointed that they added guns,he felt it should of stayed with swords etc
13211  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Saints Row 2 on: October 23, 2008, 05:06:25 PM
still loving the game,i am on 30%(10hrs.30minutes)

i have done the fight clubs and the septic avengers, been taking out the strongholds of the Ronin..i like it how you dont have to go do the missions straight away, take your time and do things your way

got some cool tatoos now,and a nice purple vest to show them off

half way through the Ronin missions
Spoiler for Hiden:
the samurai showdown was great stuff

one thing puzzles me is that i have it on normal difficulty and i havent really found anything hard yet...not that that really pisses me off or anything,as it prolly contributes to the fact that i keep coming back to it,instead of throwing the controller half way across the room, and coming back to it when i am bored

and i have said it before and i will say it again i knwo the driving isnt as 'realistic' as GTA4,but it is much more fun

a friend has just told me about the flame thrower in the zombie attack video game that you play at your crib,he says to get somewhere high and the zombies just start to fall...easy way to complete the game he says,so i will be trying that tonight

i hope this is true, but yeah i hope they make up for the ending of the first....let down if ever there was one

also,i am up for the UK to keep its 'Farenheit' name instead of Indigo Prophecy..for part 2..i prefer the name Farenheit

also,FWIW i have downloaded 3 games onto my 360 from the xbox original list...Fable is dodgy,Ninja Gaiden i have hardly played and Farenheit(indigo prophecy)is pretty much perfect i finished it again on the 360 and didnt notice any problems with the sound or graphics

i love Guns N Roses,i went to see them in 1992,here in Manchester(UK)..the Use Your Illusion tour, been looking forward to this album, but cant help thinking how different it will be without Slash,Duff and Matt

i heard a lot of tracks ages ago(Madagascar,Prostitute and IRS)...at one time one of the other tracks 'Oh My God' was meant to be on the album...it was played during the end Credits of the Arnie Schwarzenegger movie 'End Of Days'...i thought that song was pretty damn cool, and the rest of this Album is from the same sessions as that song

here is he grabbing Paul Gascoignes(gazza) balls..and him getting angry with another player, which we use to see pretty much every weekend from him in the late 80s/early 90s

in movies i know him best as the Juggernaut in xmen 3(i'm the Juggernaut,Bitch)...or in the Guy Ritchie's London Gangster films 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Snatch'

the movie is a film i wanna see actually The Midnight Meat Train...a Clive Barker story

just over 12 hours!!!  Now I just have to decide whether or not I'm going to re-up my XBL gold account, which for some reason has gone back to silver- I was just doing the monthly payments and for some reason they stopped charging me back in September even though my CC info is still correct.

yikes, the game is only 12 hours long? hmm. so probably 16'ish with side quests and what not. well hopefully last remnant doesn't suck then. 16 is a bit on the short side for a 60 dollar game.

He's talking about 12 hours until midnight when he can pick up the game.

oh, it was posted after the reviews and with nothing else i figured the reviews mentioned that.

i heard 12 hrs as well, but that was a Lionhead Developer going straight through it,not pausing to look at the cool stuff etc...i am gonna guess it will be at least 20hrs for me...and if Co-Op is good(i.e actually works),then more

Based on the Eurogamer review, #1 and #2 both show up on your character. Die alot and you turn into a scarred mess. Abuse the mana system, and you start to show it.

So there's a reason behind it all. Your character starts to show the abuse you put him through.

sounds good, and it certainly eases my mind..not that it would of made me cancel my order and not get the game

i already knew about number 6 actually i saw a vid of it a few weeks ago,and i can't say i am that upset about it either, being a Final Fantasy 11 and Infinite Undiscovery player...i did this kinda stuff all the time,i know Myto will be very excited about this feature as well...she goes nuts for this stuff, and you wont see her again for a year or two,LOL

i CAN totally understand people hating it though(that feature i mean)

and dont worry too much if you do disagree with him, like all threads on xbox.com,he gets flamed for his opinion quite a bit icon_biggrin

someone just posted this on the Fable 2 forum on xbox.com..although many a time people complaining about a game i want really badly doesnt usually bother me,some of what he says is total crap, but i must admit some of the other points he has made has got me a little worried(the first two actually..the others i am not that bothered about)

the Thread he created is entitled
'OXM's 9.5 Doesnt point out any flaws (So ill do it for them) '

http://forums.xbox.com/23403087/ShowPost.aspx

Poster-zX Chance Xz
Quote
This is my alternate GT. But i do have the game, and already put in a good 5 hours so far.

Anyways. the 9.5/10 OXM is complete bullocks, as it completely ignores its problems.

1. You cant die. This ruins all challenge that the game has, as whenever you lose your health, you get knocked out, and get right back up, only losing the orbs that you didnt pick up.

2. There is no mana system. Without a mana system, you are free to limitlessly fire your will powers without hesitation, making the player not give a crap, and the game becomes much easier.

3. No challenge = no purpose to think or try when you fight. No purpose to think or try when you fight = no fun. Because of the first 2 flaws, you can go in a battle of 1000 enemies at once, have one hand in your pants jacking off, whilst having the other spam any of the attack buttons and collecting orbs. If you die, you get up and repeat. Eventually, all the enemies will die, and you will feel like you accomplished nothing.

4. Dog makes exploring way too easy. Another thing that an RPG should have you do is explore by yourself for items. Instead, the dog *** feeds you to all your treasures, crossing the line from useful, to being an interactive walkthrough/guide to everything you can find.

5. How are graphics amazing? In my experience, the framerate is slow, environments are blurry, and character models dont look much better than fable 1. One thing i will say is that the cutscenes are brilliant though.

6. Working for gold is boring. Watching the same animation of chopping wood or hitting a sword with a hammer gets old quick, and when you really want to afford things, why the *** would you want to work a repititious job for money, when you could be rewarded with fortune by doing quests. Instead, quests barely give you anything, and jobs are your source of gold.

7. Stats system sucks. While not being able to level up is ok, the skills system is weird. You can buy almost all of the first level abilities in all categories with the same price of like 2 things in level 2. On top of that, theres like 3 things you can upgrade (other than will). Speed of your weapons, your health, and strength of your weapons. On top of this, clothing doesnt do much at all anymore. Wearing nothing is the same as wearing a suit of armor.

I could probably list more, but OXM points out none of this. These points are a reason why i think fable 2 deserves only an 8.0, a little more or less. im not a hater, as i like fable 2, and will most likely beat it. Its just that the amount of flaws hinders it from even getting a 9.0, set aside a 9.5.

end rant.

DAMN IT...i was looking at Andy Garcia films on IMDB and i saw that, looked at the cast and thought nah

just out of interest, who is that guy in the first picture?,the one holding the 'Raquetball'..as i firstly thought it was Steve Buscemi..then thought not,but i see that Steve Buscemi is actually in 'Things to do in Denver when you are dead'...but i still dont think its him

i just did a mission from the police station in saints row district...go to third floor, listen to 3 tapped conversations from a while ago(SR1) and then go to the office at the back and get a phone number, ring the phone number and a mission will open up at the old church from saints row 1(its changed a lot)....there you will meet an old friend

i have started to save my game often now,as i just went to start to do the septic avenger thing and it froze on me,for the second time

i also completed all the fight club fights(2 lots of 6) and got the achievement 'do not talk about it'...and i guess i have just broken the first and second rules by telling you icon_lol paranoid saywhat

i gotta say,i'm stumped..i dont even recognise the people,i am thinking this is a film that must of past me buy

the two people in the last picture, look a little like Willem dafoe and Andy Garcia, its a little hard to tell(it definetly ISNT Willem Dafoe i dont think, but looks a little like him)..but then again at first glance i thought that first person holding the 'Raquetball' was Steve Bucemi, until i had a closer look,LOL

the middle picture, looks a little like Eric Bana(again i dont think it is him, just looks a little like him),but its a bit too dark,is he pissing into that container?????

yeah thats it,i think its called the 'D-Stroy'(i dont actually think its called the UFO,it just IS one)

seeing them with upto date top of the range equipment around them may make me NOT buy into this..Star Trek was always known for me as using dodgy looking computers and what have you

Dodgy looking computers?  For the original Trek, sure (probably a limitation of budget/60s tech?).  For later Treks?  I'm not so sure that applies.

thats just it,the original was dodgy looking, next gen and generations looked better, now this is meant to be set before them all,and we have pretty much hologramatic dashboards everywhere, they could at least make it look less cool and shiney...it looks like it set 1000 years AFTER all the star treks

Well now, I think you're going to have to explain that one to some people Tongue

actually i said that a little wrong,it isnt short for,its just another way of saying it

oh,what do you know...good old Wiki has all the answers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taking_the_mickey ...this is taking the piss, redirected from taking the mickey

Quote
The term sometimes refers to a form of mockery or a piss take in which the mocker exaggerates the other person's characteristics; pretending to take on his or her attitudes, etc., in order to make them look funny.

The phrase is in common usage throughout English society, employed by headline writers in broadsheet gazettes[1] and tabloids[2] as well as colloquially and is also used in English speaking countries such as Australia.[3][4]

In colloquial usage, 'taking the piss' is also used to refer to someone or something that makes a claim which is not in line with a recognised agreement e.g. an invoice that is double the quoted price with no explanation for the added charge could be said to 'take the piss', or likewise if something consistently misses a deadline.

[edit] Origin
"Take the mickey" is an abbreviated form of the Cockney rhyming slang "take the mickey bliss"[5] ("mickey" being slang for penis[6]), meaning to "take the piss [out of someone]". The phrase has been noted since the 1930s.

[edit] Alternate theories of origin
An alternate, unverified, and unlikely theory of etymology is that "mickey" is a contraction of "micturition" (i.e., piss),[7] "mickey" being a suitable alternative when in the company of those liable to be offended by "piss". Another theory is that "mickey bliss" was used as cockney rhyming slang for "piss", therefore explaining the origins of the phrase "taking the mickey".

It has also been suggested that "mickey" in this context is an ethnic slur for an Irish person (from the surname prefix Mc-), and to "take the mickey" originally meant to taunt the Irish and parody their accents.[citation needed]

and a Flannel,is just a face cloth (or at least thats what it has become more known as)that you have next to your taps on the bathroom sink that you use when washing..i had no idea you guys didnt use that word either

the blue face towel hanging over the sink, here is a Flannel

EDIT;My mum has just told me that there is also the word Flannel when you use to much flannel(slang),meaning you are trying to con somebody..first i have heard of that one though

the word Bugger..well i guess you know what that means, can't say i use the word that much

It works, don't get me wrong.  However, the number of times the textures would just "pop in" during a scene were annoying.  Sometimes my character would exit his house to find out that the entire front of his building was just a white slate until he moved a certain direction.  It was just a graphical nightmare at times.

actually that does remind me of one scene where i think James Woods character had no hands(or they were flashing on and off)..but i dont think it got any worse than that, for me at least

and actually i will myself chop off James Woods hands for making me do those damn annoying airplane levels icon_mad

okay i just got in

i just got this game and i got the game with the free vehicle codes

and apparently they are the same for everyone(360 and PS3)

so here you go

#4976
for the GyroDaddy

#7266837
PeeWee minibike

go to cheats menu and type these numbers in

these will NOT disable Achievements, but the full health and full ammo type cheats WILL disable achievements

and also, for registering your game at THQ.com you get the UFO

the code is #728237

and that works for everyone as well, apparently(and again wont disable achievements)

i have registered my game but have yet to get that UFO code, but on the PS3 forums they said its the same for everyone and they listed all 3 numbers, and the first two numbers were the same as MY two pre-order vehicle numbers.
