i stumbled across another deathclaw near the talon merc camp outside megaton and despite missing out on a sneak critical, i managed to take it down without getting hurt.  very satisfying that was.  vats hunting rifle at medium range softened it up a bit, then point blank two shots from the combat shotgun to finish it up.

Spoiler for Hiden:
dont go to Old Olney..they are everywhere, they are even in the sewers,i went there to try and get me a Nuca cola quantum bottle.....thank god i had that save from 5 minutes before i decided to go there

having watched F1 for ..well i think since Senna died at least anyway,i love F1,but a lot of people i know hated it because Shuey was winning all the time, they said it was boring, but since he has retired now and Hamilton has come in,i think he has given F1 a breath of fresh air

its a shame Massa didnt win,but i suspect he will win one in the future,i am also sure that Hamilton will be a championship winner again,i didnt agree with Hamilton getting points stripped off him a few races ago,so i feel that he has deserved this...just a shame he keeeps getting abuse all the time,Brazilian crowd booed him,Spanish crowd dressed up as Black people and named themselves 'Hamiltons family'..and he certainly isnt getting any favous from the F1 stewards..so yeah well done Lewis

on the SKY sports forums here in the UK,everyone knows F1 as meaning Ferrari 1st,as in the stewards decisions

as for the same car Mclaren i personally think Kovalainen hasnt been as good as he should...but Ferrari are usually the dominant car...they won the drivers championship after all

Alonso, for some reason in the last 3 or 4 races came out of his shell, beginng and half way he was average, even though everyone knows he is a good driver

here in the UK next year it will be broadcast on BBC1,so no more commercials at vital points in the race(and something i want to watch on the BBC for once)

spoilers.

please use spoiler tags!

erm.i dont really think anything i have said in that post is a spoiler..everything i posted there,is already available for info for you to know in the game
the nuca cola challange thing, you just have to ask sierra and she tells you what you will get for returning the 30 bottles

the make 7 weapon things is what is described in your achievements if you look at them

the extra level added from a perk is described when you are on the level perk whether you can select it or not,and i avoided it for a while, for want of other perks, but if you put your cursor over it,it tells you what it does

finding Grouse at Paradise falls..well,i just told you so you dont do the same mistake as me...its a side quest, and i havent spoiled anything of the quest

well, he IS pretty old, so could be natural causes...

The guide actually hints at this, saying he is the oldest person in the settlement.

the guide just says he is one of the oldest, although he isnt the oldest..the patriotic guy is(Nathaniel)is 65 years old, however so is Jericho the ass,Walter, according to the guide is 61.

also, what annoys me while i am looking for Walter around Megaton is the settler who looks like him hanging around there, many a time my heart has skipped a beat as i think i have finially found him, same goes for when i enter the water treatment plant and i see someone in the back room, however its just Leo doing his night shift, bah

but yeah i reckon we should all just agree with Razgon and say it is natural causes

did quite a bit today,as i am off work

the Nuca-cola quantum challange...brought all 30 to Sierra, and got the Nuca grenade thing(which means you have to find one more Quantum to make that weapon if you want the achievement to make all 7 special weapons)

Those

made level 14(thanks to that perk where you can just add another level,LOL)

i dont think i will be able to do the quest 'strictly business' as i have already been to paradise falls and killed everyone,so no chance of finding Grouse to activate the quest,as he is dead
i have 32 hrs in,level 14 like said and have still to start/finish the Galaxy radio main quest..as i have just been avoideing the main quest,as much as possible

You should go to Tenpenny...

Spoiler for Hiden:
If you get the ghouls into the hotel you get a mask that makes all ghouls non-aggressive to you.  Nothing like waltzing around a bunch of them, then just decapitating them at point blank range for free xp.

Speaking of which, about Tenpenny, could also use a comment from Kathode on this if he's not too busy:

Spoiler for Hiden:
How did you handle it?  I went super good and got some of the bigots to move out, and the ghouls to move in alongside humans.  But then when I returned later the lead ghoul had murdered Tenpenny, I forgot to follow up on it since I was in the middle of something else, and there were still other human inhabitants that weren't bigots.  But, the next time I came back all the humans were gone.  After asking around I discovered they had been murdered and dumped in the basement, they'd killed everyone.  So much for good intentions.  When I killed the head ghoul because of that, despite him having killed all the humans, I got a karma penalty.  I didn't get any dialog options or quests to initiate some kind of justice for the human inhabitants of Tenpenny, which makes me a bit pissed.

There's got to be a way to prevent that from happening.

Spoiler for Hiden:
i'm kinda glad i didnt get the option to do things the goody two shoes way now..nice

also, he could be just wandering around - I met him a few times outside , wandering around the town. Perhaps try leaving and re-entering the town? Or fastforward time in front of the waterplant and entering it?

i tried the fast forward thing, tried around town but didnt see him but i will give that another go,as i hear he also goes to the saloon

i have just been on the PS3 forums, and they have a whole thread dedicated to this, one person said he saw him glitch and walk off a high platform, and someone else said they found his dead body in the water treatment plant, but they hadnt killed him

the ghoul i think gives you stempacks instead of caps,i have plenty of stempacks..but no caps..so if i cant find walter then i guess the outcast wherever he is is my best bet

I read somewhere that the npcs' are accident prone, so he might have fallen down from somewhere high up, and killed himself..

no idea about numbers but here in the UK the 360 version of Dead Space got to number 3,while the PS3 version was at number 10,Fable II was number 1,saints row 2 (360) was number 2..that was about two weeks ago

i am glad it(fable II)sold that many, but didnt Driver 4 or whatever sell loads but then a lot of people took it back a few days later?..i traded Fable 2,5 days after buying

EDIT:this weeks UK Top Ten...yipppeee Fallout 3  icon_biggrin ...no Dead Space frown

(–) 1. Fallout 3
(3) 2. FIFA 09
(8 ) 3. Wii Fit
(1) 4. Fable II
(4) 5. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
(2) 6. Far Cry 2
(–) 7. Quantum of Solace
(7) 8. LEGO Batman: The Videogame
(9) 9. Mario Kart
(5) 10. Saints Row 2

thats actually pretty big news that Fallout 3 has got one over on the FIFA games, which are pretty big over here(even though everyone i know, magazines included like the PES games better),but anyway Fallout 3 deserves number 1 IMO

and Wii Fit has just come back into stock over here

sometimes i think you guys are playing a different game than me,i have been checking everywhere, every box, every ammo container, every bad guy i down,i even have the scavenger perk, and i still cant finda decent amount of ammo..and when i do find some ammo, its gone soon enough because i need it to shoot the million and one creatures across the wasteland that i have wronged in another life..i cant walk for two minutes without another set of dogs, super mutants, crab blokes, raiders trying to ambush me

at the moment,i have Paradise falls,to fall back on,i killed everyone there..and rescued some kids,(and finished a quest i didnt even know existed)..they have an ammo stock..i also have the armoury south east-ish of Minefield, that i havent fully explored yet

have you ever 'waited' for like 12-24 hrs?

by pressing select on the 360 anyway....the box pops up showing your hours dwindling away, but it has the world screen surrounding and behind that box,so when you are waiting for so long, you see it gradually getting darker/lighter in hourly installments, its like those nature shows showing how a plant grows or something,LOL..like a time lapse camera,i think

I don't know how you're running out of ammo. Are you using VATS?

Maybe I have different skills that allow me to kill fools faster....last night I was thinking, man there is a lot of ammo out in the wastes smile.

perhaps i am doing something wrong then,as i have come to the point when a group of Raiders attack me,when i kill one of them i quickly run over and loot the dead Raider so i can use his ammo against the others

is there a good all round gun that you guys use?..ihave that many chinese weapons(guns and rifles)assault rifles and hunting rifles..but no ammo, perhaps i ought to sell them(but because weapons break after a while,i have been keeping them)

get scavenger. some ammo i have over 500 of w/o buying too much. get the perk that gives you 50 more weight. pick up EVERY GUN AND REPAIR IT! if you have 4 copies of a gun repair one and sell it for more caps. repair your own weapons. it's often cheaper to buy a gun from the vendor and repair than it is to flat out pay the repair cost. you need to explore, there are caches of stim packs and weapons all over. keep extra guns in your house to repair with as well.

basically you're going to minimize your spending of things you don't need to spend on. this should you net you lots of extra caps and you can buy a crap ton of ammo. i have 5k caps and lots and lots of ammo. but i explore a ridiculous amount. super mutants are easy. however the super mutant masters can suck it. those guys carry lots of ammo and guns.

late edit: I forgot to add it seems that some guns are better on enemies than others. For instance, the rail gun will destroy robots in about 2-3 shots where as a normal rifle will take more ammo. Make sure to use the right gun in the right situation.

thanks for that,i have started to repair my guns at the moment,i am also in the middle of constructing my own weapons as well, hopefully that may help...5000 caps?...dont think i have over 700 yet,and i have been trying not to buy anything
EDIT:is Scavenger a perk?

Bobblehead question:
can you pick these up anytime you want...i know the medicine one,you only have two chances i think to pick it up(its in the Vault 101,i have it anyway)..but what about the others?

yeah i have been drawn away from saints row 2 with Fable 2 and Fallout 3

the thing is with saints row,i have finished the Ronin missions and havent even started the others yet,so i am treating it like 3 (4 if you count Ultor)mini stories..i have done one,and when i get back to it,it wont matter that it maybe a while,as i doing the other factions will feel fresh

definetly going to get back to it,i have been loving it..Fable 2 is done now,and went towards contributeing to Fallout 3

but how long could Oblivions main quest be finished in?

The speed record is something like 10 minutes slywink  I find those kinds of measurements are largely useless.  If you tear through the game with blinders on, I suspect you could get through it less than 10 hours.  But how anyone could play that way, particularly on a first run through, completely eludes me.  I seriously doubt anyone playing for enjoyment will be able to finish the main quest in under 20 hours.  Maybe I'll give you 15, but I don't think it would be less than that.  Everyone does play differently though, and I just think there are too many different ways to go about experiencing the game to give a lot of weight to a measurement like that.  There's tons and tons of gameplay in the game - the 450+ page guide should be testament to that smile

okay 10 minutes is a big WHY PLAY?(saying that though i completed the first mario game in prolly less useing the lift/warp thing..just because i could,LOL)...but even 10hrs for Oblivion!!..never!!..prolly if they fast travelled a lot,and that took a lot of fun out of the game for me(i still used it now and then, but exploring was my thing)...i wasnt as bothered with it in Fable 2,and fast travelled all the time..i think it was because there was always places and things to discover in Oblivion out in the world..and i am betting that i still have a lot of places to discover in that game as well

450+ page guide...thats my kinda guide, some games get guides that are totally not needed, guides for things like Halo3,or a platformer...or godforbid...mario kart!!..... disgust

Wonderful little demo, and I found the game to be a breath of fresh air after my recent Dead Space-Fallout marathon.  However, I think the game will bomb badly. Putting this game out with Fable, Fallout, Dead Space, Gears of War and a host of other heavy hitters all recent to the market is going to make this game an also ran.

Its a shame because Rare has a little of that Nintendo magic running through their veins, but the Xbox 360 is the worst possible platform for their titles, and MS can't market games like these to save their lives.

although if they weren't on the 360 i prolly wouldnt buy them,i have to agree with you...1st i am not sure whats with all the publishers putting out all these great games at once..surely some of these games could of been held back a month or two to avoide the tide, and therfor benefited from sales...right?..or does that show a sign of weakness????

2nd about MS marketing, although i think they did a half decent job with Viva Pinata(TV show for one)..i think that game is one of the most underrated games in the last few years,i had a great time with that game and got pretty much addicted to it for a time...but i guess people thought(and were right in a way)that it was too kiddy looking

oh and 3rd just for the hell of it,i hate Nintendo for blocking Goldeneye remake/re-release

they say the main story quest can be finished in 13 hrs...now this doesnt put me off,as some people have commented on putting in 15hrs while hardly not touching the main quest(and i think,if i remember rightly that Rons review said something similar),and some of the side quests rival the main quest..but how long could Oblivions main quest be finished in?,as i have over 100 hrs in that game with still a few side quests i could go do and lengthen the time by a few hours(which one day i will do)

so i would also like to know the answer to this one,as i have seen both are gonna be for sale come this Friday..i am in England so i was wondering if i should part ex another game to make up for the CE strat guide

I can't recall the specifics but Kathode laid out the changes IIRC so maybe do a search of his posts?  From what I remember of his description, the CE has a lot of really, really great bonus material and background.  It was enough to get me to order it.

yup.  exactly what i did

Decided to purchase the special Pre-War Collector’s Edition? Then, aside from a Hardback cover and a bigger map poster, you get an extra section packed with exclusive art, team interviews, additional team tactics, easter egg information, a half-dozen “Wasteland Wanderers” showcasing the entertaining and sometimes frightening way some of Bethesda’s team cultivated their characters, all finished off rather pleasantly by an Afterword by Moira Brown. Who’s she? Owner of the Craterside Supply, don’t you know.

Ready your coffee table for reinforcement; the Pre-War Collector’s guide clocks in at 498 pages.

Quick question, for those that have the CE strat guide, is there enough additional content to justify the extra $10?  I'm sure that sounds cheap after shelling out $79 for the CE game, just curious, I guess.

according to GAME(my local store)

they have this to say about the strat guides

Quote

as for the collectors edition strat guide it says all of the above with :
Quote
Bonus Material! Almost 50 pages of bonus content not available in the regular guide.

Rugged Hardcover edition for extra survivability. The ultimate Fallout 3 collector‘s piece.

so doesnt really tell you much there, except fancy packaging and an extra 50 pages

great review

question :i know it shows the 360 cover art up near the top,but is that the review for the 360 version?,its just that one of the pros says
Quote
Pros:
Extremely quick load times

and i wanted to make sure this was still the 360 version we are talking about,LOL

we have had a lot of commercials for this on our (UK)TV,and it looks great, the part it shows is the part where he walks along with his dog,and it reminded me so much of Mad Max 2(i think it was called The Road Warrior in the states...Mel Gibson Flick anyway..see below)

i am hoping i can dress my character up like this..and live out my Post-apocalyptic fantasies

made it through the Crucible last night (after avoiding being sucked into Fallout 3), but not unscarred.  apparently my use of magic was too much and my character has started exhibiting the glowing blue line syndrome.  I haven't really used much magic in the game, but I spent all my magic XP that I got from potions on Inferno, getting it to level 5 and making alot of the Crucible levels a cakewalk.  I got a perfect on each one except the third to last (too much area to cover so I didn't even try) and the final battle where the final target was in an annoyingly hard to hit spot.

i got that glowing blue line nearly straight away in the game, and i hardly used magic...not sure why else it showed up,i didnt like it though,i wanted to be normal looking

and thats good news on a new character/game on same gamertag...as i may start gain to get that sacrificing 10 citizens achievement(it wouldnt work for me last nigth so i figured i had to do it before
Spoiler for Hiden:
i wiped out the shadows boss

There's something elegant about being able to play the same game with just a simple controller instead of having to rely on 100+ keys and a rolling device.

I have a uber PC, but it's mainly for exclusives and RTS.  If there is a must have MOD sometime in the future, I may consider a PC version as well.

what i didnt think off......can you use a controller on the PC for this game?..as that wouldnt be too bad

So, question for you all - as I'm playing through the game, I'm finding that the furniture store isn't replenishing itself. Anybody else having that problem?

I am and it is pissing me off, I want to outfit all my rental properties with luxury furniture.

later on in the game...
Spoiler for Hiden:
well, there will be another town with another furniture place...but i think that the original(bowerstone) will be replenished after your 10 year gap thing...but i think it will be another case of buying and it not restocking again

not under the same profile, no.  it does allow you to start a new character without screwing up the other one if you change profile.  did this on saturday to show someone the intro.

thats good then,as then you wouldnt get your achievements mixed up

i will also say this, its not really possible NOT to complete the game if you are gonna keep playing...the punishment for death isnt as bad as it should be,like what was said before the game was officially out..you get your health back, but the bad guys dont(you lose XP)

oh i did like
Spoiler for Hiden:
how you went to i think Oakvale from the first game,it had the bridge and everything but 500 years(and an attack),has taken its toll and it barely stood, the rest of the town was flooded...but it had the field that your sister was in right at the start of the first game

finished the game, messed up at the end
Spoiler for Hiden:
a friend said you can reload the game after you make the decision,so you can choose all 3,and get all 3 achievements,so i chose the worse(money)first, thinking i will get that out of the way..and when i warped to Oakfield after the decision it saved....meaning i was  screwed with no dog,no family but a measily million quid that i could make in 20 minutes

saves-always ontop of the last one,no chance to make multiple saves...hello!!i have 60gig left on my HDD here

That has nothing to do with hdd space, it's about trying to make your choices matter more by preventing you from doing all choices with no repercussions.  Always hit and miss with games since some people feel violated when they can't save and reload.

or you can't start two games,or someone else can't start their game on the same console/HDD
