360 sales Double in Japan thanks to Last Remnant..Last Remnant sells 100k(i think again in just Japan)

Sales of the Xbox 360 have doubled in the space of a week in Japan, according to data from Media Create.

Last week Microsoft's box had sold 7,983 units in the region, yet new data shows that sales for this week have climbed to 15,474. This boost was in part due to the new Square Enix RPG Last Remnant, which scored a 38/40 in Famitsu and went on to sell 101,543 units in its first week.

This week's sales rate puts further consideration on how Microsoft is trying to invigorate its Japanese audience. Again, it is closing the gap between itself and Sony's Playstation 3, which sold 17,436 units.

That PS3 sales figure is nearly identical to its sales performance last week, yet the brand's handheld unit has soared in sales; climbing from 38,153 last week to reach 61,226 PSPs sold, helped by strong sales of new release Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam VS. Gundam. By comparison, the DSi largely sold the same volume as last week, climbing up by around 3,000 units to hit 88,843.

Following news that the Nintendo Wii had surpassed 7 million units in Japan, the console's weekly performance has taken a boost; up from 26,787 units to 35,298. This is largely due to sales of Animal Crossing: City folk, which sold 300,000 units and enters the software charts at number one.

While strong sales keep the Wii as Japan's best-selling TV console this week, suspicions remain that the console is approaching a saturation-point (its sales rate today is roughly a third of how it sold in an average first-year week). Though these facts may sting Nintendo a little, a Japanese user-base of 7 million (of which, unlike the 360 and PS3, no loss-leading was involved) is a great foundation for the company.

The cameraless DS, however, was the biggest surprise of the week. Its sales proportionally leaped the furthest, jumping from 3,559 to hit 18,580 units; that's more than both the PS3 and Xbox 360. A new remake of Chrono Trigger for the DS (featured in This Week's Big Releases) sold 270,868 units in its first week alone.

Full list according to Media Create:
DSi 88,843
PSP 61,226
Wii 35,298
DS Lite 18,580
PS3 17,436
Xbox 360 15,474
PS2 5,281

a friend has just posted me this

getting the Ray Gun
ok this is right at the start when you storm the beach. After you call in the airstrike thing go to the very right of the beach and look for a hole with some water in it, jump in it then keep going left then there are a few more holes with water in, I jumped in those too. Keep going to the left and you find the last hole jump in that one and wait, then you should hear a strange voice, 4 statues appear each holding a ray gun. I know I didnt believe it until I did it. There are 4 guns so maybe ok for co-op. And 2 shots from the ray gun kills a tank.

anyone know anything about this?

i am gonna give it a shot(yes it was a pun)tonight..i cant actually remember any tanks on that first level, and i can't imagine them carrying over, but perhaps they do

Update: Capcom has confirmed to Shacknews that the downlodable Resident Evil 5 demo will hit both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America, though there is no announced timeframe.
The company hopes to pin down a specific demo date "soon," noting that the North American demo will arrive later than the Japanese version. Capcom also reaffirmed that Resident Evil 5 is on track for a March 13 release in North America and Europe, despite Capcom Japan bumping the Japanese release up to March 5."

i have a Hong Kong account and whenever Japanese stuff is released it is usually on,free ice cream if you live in my house   icon_twisted  ...but then again its a silver account so i will still have to wait for a week
13091  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Resident evil 5 demo for Japan..360/PS3 NA/EU coming soon on: November 26, 2008, 04:45:04 PM

Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has revealed that Xbox 360 owners will be getting a special holiday treat next week, as a co-op demo for Capcom's Resident Evil 5 drops on Friday, December 5th.

The demo will consist of two stages, most likely the ones we've seen played through at trade shows throughout the summer, playable in either single player or co-op modes. Also in the article is news that Resident Evil 5 (okay, Biohazard 5) is being pushed up a week exclusively in Japan, now slated for release on March 5th instead of the 12th.

Keep in mind that the announcement only covers Japan, and only regards the Xbox 360, so PlayStation owners and non-Japanese folk will just have to wait while we poke Capcom vigorously with a stick.

hopefully we will see the demo in the US/UK

new content coming in December

We've not seen the last of The Last Remnant, as Square Enix drops the details on not one but four different packs of downloadable content coming to Xbox Live Marketplace in December.

The first two free packs, Challenge Pack 1: "Purgatory's Sins" and "The Key of Ancient Ruins" will be release on December first, with the former containing a new set of difficult guild challenges and the latter introducing a new area to explore. Then December 15th sees the release of the "March to War" set, which is the three special pre-order formations for 100 MS points. Finally, on December 22nd they release Challenge Pack 2: "The Price Of Lies", which is as free as the first one. Note that all of these dates are for gold Xbox Live Members, with silver members getting access a week later.

I'm having nightmares about the game's difficulty as it is, so the prospect of more difficult missions? Truly terrifying.

yep.  I tried watching it and couldn't get into it, but it was probably more the subtitles and my dislike of having to read a movie.

haha - welcome to the shiny world of europeans ;-)

y'all should just get on with it and learn American  Tongue

ahh, actually that was prolly a plus for me,i am partially deaf and i always have subtitles on my DVDs,so i didnt really notice that much difference,i also have them on for my Japanese horrors as well, but thats mainly because the english soundtrack are usually scarier than the film

I literally stumbled onto this on fucking G4 of all places. Seems to be written and directed by Mel Brooks along with him reprising his rolls as the films. Also a couple other actors are the same.

I guess, it was okay? Little bits of Mel Brooks humor but overall I didn't think it worked well.

Anyone else see this?

i heard about this happening a long time ago,and thought it got scraped..interesting to know they actually made it

i would be definetly interested in watchign it,did they make a full season or is a pilot?

whatever happened about Spaceballs 2:the search for more money?

Now that I've tried HD streaming Netflix, the XBox Live Netflix still gets a giant thumbs down.

The picture isn't bad (though it is vastly sharper in the "native" setting than it is in the full screen modes).

However, there is no digital sound.  No 5.1.  What's the point of watching a movie with an HD picture if there's no Dolby Digital sound?

I'm very, very disappointed.  I will stick with my DVDs, thank you very much.

i have heard 5.1 is on its way(friend told me, nothing official)

Eurogamer gave it a 6/10...says it has avery slow start, too many loading screens, noticable pop up,bad cameras..they only have one or two good things to say about the title

after loving Infinite Undiscovery,i was still so-so about this...i think only the forum effect can make me get this...but when its cheaper

so,er yeah i am asking for impressions from you if you got it,and whether you agree with that Eurogamer review

i havent seen the second one yet,i am waiting for DVD(actually i think it just came out a week or two ago here in the UK..on DVD that is)..but if you guys say its better than the first one then i am in for a treat

i have the first one 3disc special directors cut extreme supreme edition..or whatever they are calling them these days, loved it..Ron Pearlman rules...and having Nazi's as bad guys is always a big plus for me,i liked all the supernatural/nazi thing as well, kinda like Raiders of the Lost Ark/Last Crusade

and Meet Dave...i saw a trailer of that a while ago,and i never want to see the trailer again.let alone see the film...i dont even think BHC4 can save Murphy now, number 3 wasnt that great....wasnt it missing Judge Reinhold?,and he was like part of the trio in the first two...suprised he hasnt thought of doing 'Yet Another 48 hrs'..or '48 hrs much later'

wait,i'm going somewhere with this
'trading places again'...or 'Vampire in Manhattan'...saying that, lets not get him in the mood for more sequels,'More Adventures of Pluto Nash' could be next

still, depressed that they have totally squeezed all life out of Shrek and are making a 4th film

and about Guillermo del he the guy who did Pans Labyrinth?,i have that on DVD and its a great film,i heard he was doing the Prequel to Lord of the rings trilogy(two Hobbit films, not sure which he is doing, the actual book one or the one set inbetween 'The Hobbit and LOTR'..he may actually be doing both)

good thing is when you do find it,you can just fast travel there in the future

I'm not really sure what people want it to progress to.  Combat absolutely needs to be reworked but the core platforming in the series now is pretty much up there with Prince of Persia and Uncharted.

its the same old same attempt something and she doesnt do it,you press jump at certain times and she either jumps too late or too early not making the ledge...jump and grab, again you press the button she fails to do it and you fall to your doom...takes 5-6 goes just to make one jump, and thats about it for the whole thing...allll theeee waaaaay thhrrrroooougghh thhheeeee gaaaaameee.

It's not like it's going to miraculously stop Nintendo from kicking Microsoft's ass from one end of the planet to the other. Good night nurse, what utter crap. No I don't like it. its funny about the Wii/Mii thing,as on the UK PS3 forums they are saying it is a rip off from the XMB(the dash, not the avatar obviously)..everyone rips off everyone....look at achievements/trophies....look at wavebird/this gen controllers...i think perhaps if we didnt have everyone ripping off everyone else,it wouldnt get anywhere with the progress..take the best parts and make it better

if you remember the NXE,it did a normal update first and that got you to the main update...perhaps 77mb is the first update to get you to the HOME update,LOL

okay,i have just finished it..70hrs

below will be real spoilers(like the thread says) be warned...REAL SPOILERS!!!

i thought it was a great game,i would of however liked to of stuck around capital wasteland at the end,and messed about, but i have saved it in various places so i can do that at a later date

i used the level 20 perk to uncover every location on the map,but it seemed when i did that i only had a dozen at the most to go and discover(you can tell which locations you havent discovered yet if they are on your map by the diagonal line on that marker)

the ending was okay,(i tried both sacrifice, and her sacrifice....and doesnt she moan when she has to do something for once???...alright if its me,doing it all AGAIN..but no,she wont forget me,which really made the fires of my heart alight(!))

why the hell wouldnt the incredible hulk(Fawkes) do it?...he's immune to radiation...i asked him and he said he didnt want to take the oppertunity away from me..oh thanks(!) felt like i was nothing but a joey.....and after i punched in the numbers i had plenty of time to get back

the only achievement i didnt get that i wanted was the speech one,i only had 33 at the end..the other achievements i missed out on i had to be neutral or low karma

i liked it how the president was a machine...i am wondering if he really was a machine,or was it a wizard of oz thing(hiding behind a curtain somewhere)..if it was, then i totally missed it

when i punched in the numbers at the end, where was my fathers body?

and yup, very mad max at the end,i loved it with the description of the lone wanderer

as for DLC,i am not sure what they can add apart for more places to discover,as they cant really expand the one of those past save points i made will come in handy
i do plan to play it all again someday, and try for the achievements i missed(hell i got all 1250/1250 out of Oblivion,so why not)

still one of the main contenders for GOTY though

it is the level where you have to destroy the 4 big guns first isnt it?..i just kept on killing the bad guys, when you get towards that entrance there are some bad guys on the upper levels of the buildings behind did take ages until that pillar fell down, then you all storm the building..and thats the end of level
