Quote from: Bullwinkle on January 26, 2009, 05:41:16 PM

I played through as much of the two levels as I could muster.  There'd better be an Easy mode, or I'm out.  I enjoyed RE4 on the Wii tremendously, but I had tried it on the Gamecube, and I couldn't get into it at all, due to controls and the difficulty.  But the Wii felt just right.

damn it Bull.....that could of been written by me...the way you are running around in circles, and swamped by a million of them on that first level, made me quit and look to see if the demo had an easy option

if this game was coming out for the Wii,i think i would get that...the controls, although took some getting used to,were great for resi 4

and yeah the reload,i just meant you couldnt reload your gun outside of the inventory unless you ran out of bullets...if i had two bullets left,i would of liked to of reloaded fully before i start shooting again, without having to go into the menu...reminds me of the Garand in the Call of Duty games,LOL

second level was better than the first, but how do you kill that guy with the chainsaw?..i swear i threw everything at him, blew up the oil drums with him next to them, wasted all my ammo onto him(and hers),the only thing i missed with was the electricity thing hanging off the telegraph pole..are you meant to hit him with that?

and why is it,that when you are fine and shooting away easily disposeing of the bad guys that your 'partner' also shoots along...wheras when you are in the thick of it,shooting away and bringing up the menu(and still getting attacked)to give her ammo...she does nothing?!?!?!..she doesnt even use the ammo i gave her when we are in the thick of things..i can see the 'partner' as being a big problem for me in the game

it maybe one of those that you buy the game, whiz through the game to get the story, and then trade the game

oh and one more thing(sorry)..this game at the moment hasn't got any of the suspense of past games...maybe there will be some levels at night icon_neutral....resi 4 had it,definetly
13002  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Resident Evil 5 demo coming 26th on: January 26, 2009, 05:17:19 PM
i didnt like how it feel like a co-op game when i was playing the single player....and still not sure why my characater cant move when shooting, lets all the bad guys surround you, while you have to stop, aim and shoot...and no shooting on its own,you have to stop to aim(you can't just press the RT to shoot)..and manual loading can only be done through the item page,it only automatically reloads if you run out of bullets..other than that it was decent enough, second level was better than the first

finding the machine gun in the case at the bottom half of the first level was a big help

yup i got PSP video 9,used it last night in fact...for some reason on my desktop it is known as RK Video convertor, but when i open it up it says PSP video 9

i think there is an update for my version, but last time they updated it,it took me ages to get used to/figure out the new one..so i am not going to update it(if it isn't broke...)

2-Final Fantasy 9-PS1

7 comes very close, but 9 is always dear to me,the first Final Fantasy that i finished, great story and villians to boot

Huh, I've always thought FFIX had the weakest villains of any game in the series.  It's one of the reasons that while I enjoy the game, I typically list it below 6, 7, 10, and 12 on my must-play Final Fantasy list.

while i agree he's not the greatest ff villain, i think kuja fits really well into ffix's sorta fairy tale -ish world & story... & then there's queen brahne, the most frightening prospective mother-in-law in maybe any game ever made smile ...

huh..i forgot all about Kuja actually,i was thinking of the elephant queen and the two jesters(<<who pretty much stole the show for me......'we are in trouble'.......'in trouble are we') and the 3 Waltz's...and i also loved that village where all those ugly little troll things spoke Scottish(may of been changed for your version, not sure..)

13008  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Your Top 3 Games EVAR on: January 24, 2009, 12:14:37 PM
i am pretty suprised no one has said this title, although Myto came closest(maybe it really is because only i think its the best game,LOL)

1-The Legend Of Zelda:Ocarina Of Time-N64

hours upon hours upon hours of just fishing,LOL

2-Final Fantasy 9-PS1

7 comes very close, but 9 is always dear to me,the first Final Fantasy that i finished, great story and villians to boot

3-Star Wars:Battlefront-XBOX

First online game for me,and pretty much became an addiction(started to see the target whenever i closed my eyes),made many friends that i still am intouch with today..and we all want SWBF3!!!!

EDIT:
any of the above could one day be replaced by one of the following...give the mood i am in at the time
metal gear solid 3

final fantasy 7

GTA:San Andreas

Oblivion

Fallout 3

Resident Evil

Silent Hill

Driver

KOTOR

13009  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: FEAR 2 on: January 24, 2009, 12:04:30 PM
i am pretty much with you on this Bull,i finished the first game but didnt really think it was anything special-office enviroments got boring and the creepiness/scare-o-meter just wasnt there for me

i still went ahead and downloaded the demo though, and quite enjoyed it,i dont actually remember any Mechs in the first game..but who knows,i have slept since then disgust

and yeah the little scary girl(which to me is The Ring)is a little old

the only thing i didnt like with the demo, which is a pet peeve of mine,is when everyone talks to your character 'yay, its great that you are still alive' ..'arrghh i dying and i am holding onto you, before getting sucked into oblivion'..etc'...your character says nothing...i hate that in video games,it was the one thing wrong with Bioshock IMO..but as i say,its pretty much an annoyance that seems to only effect me..other than that the demo was pretty cool(and suprising actually after said blandness of the first)
13010  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lord of the Rings: Conquest on: January 17, 2009, 07:56:55 PM
well,...i hate it...the one game i have been waiting for,for quite some time and i'm dissapointed

single player i played and finished last night and this morning..thought it was decent enough(for what i basically thought would be second fiddle to the multiplayer)

online,i just hate with a passion, its not so much the things wrong with the demo that i hate about it,it just seems like there are a lot more things wrong...as an Archer or Mage, pressing B to get that flame arrow/assault doesnt always happen, and i have noticed it with a few other button presses,i dont think its my controller, but it just feels unresponsive, and if that is right,i didnt notice that in the demo...i just always seemed to be bashing the button to get it to work with no outcome

i think Rivendell,is the best map....but they should of had the map as the same size in the single player, while i was playing singleplayer i noticed how pretty cool, it was

Lord Of The Rings fan i am,if there are any others here,i suggest renting...if you are into achievements,i think i got about 650 altogether

kinda makes me feel glad that Pandemic didnt stay on to do star wars battlefront 3

and do i still disagree with the 2/10 gamesradar...4/10 OXM scores..yes,i still disagree but i think a 6 is about right(the limit)

i am ready for Free Radicals SWBF3 now...their offices arent far from where i live(i'm Manchester, they are Nottingham)..i'll make them finish it.......

no promises
13011  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lord of the Rings: Conquest on: January 15, 2009, 09:59:14 PM
yeah OXM gave it a 4/10.....i for one,can imagine so-so scores like 7/10,but i cant imagine 2/10 or even 4/10 for this game..

a lot of bad ..and i mean really bad games dont get that low a score

the OXM reviewer stated how much he hated star wars battlefront....so,as soon as he said that his review meant nothing, and i wonder why they even gave that guy the game to review if he doesnt like those type of games

looking on the gamesradar site they gave Vampire rain 3 out of 10,call of jaurez a 7/10(one of my biggest dissapointments in gaming,up there with too human)..and Too Human a 6

i can't imagine that the game single player or multiplayer is worse than those 3...IMO anyway

i will be playing the game in less than 24hr anyway Tongue
13012  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lord of the Rings: Conquest on: January 15, 2009, 06:34:32 PM
holy sh*tballs..that looks like it could be the greatest game ever made!!!

my first online game was star wars battlefront(XBOX) and i quickly got into a gang of about 20-30 of us who all loved it as well,we are still in touch and have all been waiting for this title,it looks 10x better than i thought it was going to look....bf1 was the game i played everynight for about 2-3 years..i was even seeing the target in my sleep

i need this game!!!

brief experience with it last night, some random thoughts:

- 360 full version plays a lot smoother than PS3 demo.

yeah the two demos were the same as well(meaning they were different Tongue)..is this another case because its EA?

Quote
- single player campaign feels disjointed, it's just one heavily scripted multiplayer mission after another (is Battlefront like this too?)

yup, single player of Battlefront was just multiplayer games but with Bots<<no pun intended..well,a little bit.. and not that much of a story weaving the levels together....like battlefront games i plan on playing through the single player once and then never touching SP again

Quote
- only two MP servers were up around midnight, no stupid EA signup required on 360

hmm,i could of sworn i had to put in my password etc for both demos..nevermind

i heard that there are only bots/AI in the private multiplayer matches....not the EA server matches, which is a bit of a let down, especially as its only 16 players now and not 32 like battlefront

a friend of mine got this yesterday in Australia, not sure how he got it,as it isnt due until thursday there and he needs a PAL version..but then again they are like a day ahead of us or something like that...i just hope this can be my new online game as COD5 i have grown very tired off

3 levels of Co-Op play, single player with AI support or 2 player split screen/XBL

Resident Evil 5 Demo premiering exclusively on Xbox 360
Resident Evil 5 will launch on Friday, March 13th but you’ll be able to get your hands on a two-level playable demo the week of January 26th. According to Capcom, the demo will have has three levels of co-op play: single-player with AI support, two-player split-screen on a single Xbox 360 and two-player across Xbox LIVE.

not sure of that means a two level single player and a 3 level co-op

actually it says week of 26th January,so i guess it could be anytime that week

got in a few more hours last night, and it is getting much much better....

Spoiler for Hiden:
i have just got to the otherworld..arcadia?..and when you walk out of the Inn,and then it pans out,to show the world you were in, i got goosebumps

one puzzle got me for a while,it was sneaking past the dog..it doesnt wake up when the train goes by...so i thought,'cool,it wont mind me having a nosey about'..but it woke up when i went past it,confused as to why i woke it up and the train going by didnt wake it up..i was ages at trying different routes round the dog, trying to stick to the path etc...until it dawned on me that the train went past quite often and i should time my steps to when the train went past

the whole game does remind me of something else, and i can't think what it is...maybe another game or maybe a film i can't quite put my finger on it

and i WANTED to like Grim Fandango(its on my PC now),but i cant get used to the controls..one day i will get back to that
13018  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Silent Hill: Homecoming - My thoughts on: January 12, 2009, 06:12:49 PM

13019  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XBOX-O]Dreamfall:The Longest Journey on: January 12, 2009, 06:07:28 PM
thanks for all the replies

been playing it yesterday for about 2-3 hrs

i'm enjoying it,and because i havent got the guide or anything, when i figure something out,its much more rewarding

Spoiler for Hiden:
making that Robot spider from the EYE go take a shower so it dies, and you can roam about the apartment freely

..whether i will need some guide in the future i dont know...as long as i dont miss anything important, which is my main worry

there is a kind of Golden Compass feel to it(The Book)where,it looks similar to our world but there are differences....or is it set in the future, maybe?

the first chapter was Casablanca...i love all the creepy videos she keeps seeing with what looks like that girl from 'The Ring'(Hmm,lets say Japanese version)..telling her to find April Ryan
Spoiler for Hiden:
i have now finished that chapter, had a short sequence with that 'April' girl..which seemed to be set in medieval/LOTR times....and then i went back to Zoe who travelled to Venice,America

the one on one fighting i have to get used to..i'm not very good ATM

i cant remember when Indigo Prophecy came out,but Dreamfall came out for the xbox in 2006(after the 360 was released)
13020  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Assassin's Creed Reviews on: January 10, 2009, 07:18:22 PM

13021  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [XBOX-O]Dreamfall:The Longest Journey on: January 10, 2009, 07:14:48 PM
Dreamfall:The Longest Journey has finally turned up on our(UK)xbox originals list

i have been wanting to play it for some time(it wasnt that big over here),so i thought i would pony up and get it...a few questions beforehand though

i have Shenmue 2 and the guide for the xbox, and have been wanting to play that game but never did because i wanted to play the first game first(need a SEGA Dreamcast and copy of game first,i guess)its still waiting on my shelf for that magical moment...i know this is a sequel

but do you need to play the first game to know whats going on?,do they fill you in on the (back)story while you are playing?..i dont really want it waiting for me to ever get round to finding the first game

as this is pretty much the forum effect that makes me want to play this game,i know that it is story/dialogue heavy..which is fine for me...but whats the best way to desribe the gameplay?..are we talking Broken sword type game?,or i guess point and click in general or maybe like Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy)?

and finally(for now)for anyone who has finished it,how long did it take you?

thanks for any replies
13022  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Need 360 game rental suggestions. on: January 09, 2009, 05:49:00 PM
Bully would be perfect for a weeks rent

Lost:Via Domus took me about 5 hrs...prolly best if you are a fan of the show

King Kong...old game so you could prolly buy the game for less than renting,LOL
13023  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Games with awesome dialogue? on: January 09, 2009, 05:43:15 PM
as i am currently about 3 quarters the way through Final Fantasy 10,i can safely say that FF10 ...DOES NOT have awesome dialogue...makes me embarrassed sometimes watching the cutscenes(the 'Laughing' scene anyone?)

i remember being impressed with Lost Odyssey,as its pretty much a JRPG/RPG so i was expecting a lot worse

no matter what everyone else says about this title having bugs and what have you....Mass Effect was still great for the script/voice acting, but then again thats the kind of game it was suppose to be like Bioware other games(KOTOR for one) ..cant wait for number 2
13024  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Next Lego Game? on: January 06, 2009, 10:06:49 PM

ea why must you do this?  out!

not sure it was that bad,i logged in and that was that,it hasnt asked for my username and password again...its just like when logging into this site...and if you create an EA account, then you can grab your screenshots from the game(well you can in Battlefield:bad company anyway)

they dont ask for credit card details either

Kronovan-i know the bad campaign in single player is what happened next if Frodo didnt get to destroy the ring, and prolly has the bad forces taking over middle earth map by map...the video showed UrakHai's slaughtering Hobbits....seeing little folk get murdered like that, you can hear George Lucas scream every time nod

finish Final Fantasy 10 and Dead Rising(360 version not the Wii version or the rumoured PSN version)

i have started FF10 already...then maybe i can start FF10-2 that i bought with the guide back on release day(not that i really like the look of that one)..and also FF7 Dirge of Cerberus

do you have to buy all the instuments with Rock Band, can't you just play it like Guitar Hero and just use a Guitar,or have a missed what Rock Band is all about?..is it only possible to play with friends?(as Drums and others, etc)

cool, thanks Farley..IMO,they both look great and both have their strengths...however it is more screentearing(and even loading while walking down a corridor etc) and the like, that i think is the real decider between the two,i remember PS3's Orange box had some real bad things said about it because of these reasons....the graphics still looked pretty much the same as the 360 version though

13032  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS3 Whining on: December 28, 2008, 08:39:43 PM
i bought my PS3 July 07,and this(no discs playing) happened to it about 4 months after(in fact this happened before i got a RRoD on my launch 360 which was April just gone)

it was since an update it wouldnt read any discs......i had to reformat(quick option)the hard drive, lost 40 gigs of stuff(okay,so it was 40gig of crap, but it was still 40 gigs worth),redownloaded the update and it has been fine ever since

thankfully though this isnt the worse of the breakdowns for the PS3,people seem to be complaining about a yellow light flashing instead of green or red,and that it wouldnt even activate/turn on when this happened, and then you have to get it sent back

what really pissed me off though was that i didnt(and still dont really)play on the PS3 that much...when the 360 went last April i kinda thought, well at least i play on the thing everyday, got 60 full days(and i mean 60 full days) of final fantasy 11 out of it,countless COD4(even though really,i still shouldnt be thinking like that...i bought a machine,i expect it to work until my dying day and beyond)

now,if it were my Wii that broke down(although i have problems when i try and go online with that as well, sometimes as it freezes on the black scren and i have to unplug it)..i am not sure i would even bother getting that fixed..its nearly 6 months since i last turned that machine on..or whenever my life as a king came out

sorry to hear about your PS3 DarkEL..but PS3/360 or Wii,if they break down i think you have a right to Bitch and Whine,LOL

FWIW-i have had no problems with my launch PS1(played silent hill 1 on it the other month)..my 1 month after launch PS2 or my 1 year after launch XBOX...i played on all 3 like there was no tomorrow
13033  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lord of the Rings: Conquest on: December 28, 2008, 12:49:54 PM
yeah you can be a Ent or a Troll, and i havent seen a fell beast yet(the dragons)..but i heard them and the Eagles are automatic,i was thinking like the helicoptor or dogs in Call of duty

been playing some more and i have started to see some more bad points

as soon as you start it is best to go to options to change the camera to 'Far'(as the normal mode, you have the camera right on your players back and it can feel even more claustophobic and tight, pretty impossible to see someone attacking you from behind)..but why there isnt a way of doing this in game i am not sure

sprinting-only happens automatically when you have been running for a while...no sprint button

absolutely no point getting on a Horse or Warg,as you can get knocked off extremely easily

on Minas Tirith, the bad guys start on the low ground and the good guys on higher ground, that means as bad guys as you run up the path to the first control point and start to take that point and there are already archers up above firing at you...you are pretty much sitting ducks
EDIT:I have just been told that the bad guys start off with a Troll and the good guys dont(start with an Ent)..so that tips the scales back a little(no good really for all those who arent the Troll though i suppose)

i think the option for a Mage to heal an Ent or a Troll should be taken out of the game, because right now you have players as Ents or Trolls that are already powerful(one swipe at you and thats it),hanging around spawn points killing whatever/whoever spawns with the mages on their side curing them if they get damaged(if the other side does have a chance to hurt them in anyway),if one side starts to do this the game is pretty much over.....i am praying that the inclusion of AI will improve this in the full game

i have also heard but never seen that Ents and Trolls can ALSO heal themselves as well..what kind of bleeding chance does that give the other side?

mini map/radar is pretty much the worse i have seen in a game, very useless

and the Big,Gi-normous arrows point to everything all over the screen can really spoil the atmosphere of the game

i have been playing the demo for a few days now...not bad

the xbox 360 demo will be with us in a few days apparently, but for North American PS3 owners, the demo is up on PSN..as i have a North American account,i fired it up and downloaded it(and then installed it)
(1300mb)

it is a single player and multiplayer demo

the single player consists of
Training
War of the Ring-which i reckon is the good campaign
Rise of Sauron-which i reckon is the evil campaign
Instant Action-which i reckon you can just get stuck into the action,on any level without goals

however only training is available at the moment, but its pretty good..so here we go

you start off as Warrior

Square button is light Attack,Triangle is Medium attack and Circle is heavy attack

i think medium attack is the best..IMO anyway

there is a combo to do if you wish
square x 3,triangle x 2 and Circle x 1

Fire Attacks press and hold L1

while holding L1
Square =Fire strike

Triangle =Whirlwind Sweep

Circle= Flame of Fury

L1 and Circle also = Blockbreaker, which Defeats enemies who are blocking

pressing R2 brings up a crosshair, and when you release the R2 you fire an Axe(you can guide the crosshair with the right stick)

L2 =Block

pressing L2 and Circle while your energy bar is full = Crowd breaker...very handy in big crowds(which is actually what its for)

using some moves uses up energy, fighting enemies gains your energy bar and also some ememies drop health orbs

at control points, press R1 to change class

Archer

R2 to fire
L2 to zoom
Square to kick,if opponents get too close
Triangle = Poison Arrows
L1=Multi arrows
Circle = Fire Arrows

although i think if you select one of the above, you have to select it everytime you fire

not much to the archer really, and you can keep your distance,so pretty handy i reckon, just dont forget about that zoom

Scout

L1 to cloak/turn invisible

while invisible get behind an enemy and press R1 to defeat the enemy(this worked quite well online also)

L2+Lstick to roll

L1+Square=Foe Hewer
L1+Triangle=Foe Hammer
L1+Circle=Blasting powder

R2=Satchel Bomb

Mage

Press and Hold R2=Lightning(a lot of people were using this one online)

Square= Bash Attack
L1= Heal
Triangle=Shockwave
Circle =Firewall

Press and Hold L2 = Energy Shield

if you put your target onto teammates, and then press L1 for Heal you will heal your teamamtes, you know if they are in need of healing as they have a small green cross over their heads

once you have been through the Warrior,Archer,Scout and Mage and done everything that it teaches you,Sauron emergies onto the battlefield, and you have a choice whether to play as a Hero..the choice is Isilidur(as this is the first fight from the very beginning of the movie..which we saw during Cate Blanchetts narration)

after you have defeated Sauron, you have completed the training..and as the other single player features arent present in this demo, you can move straight on to ....

Multiplayer

there is a selection of the following

Join EA game Servers!!!!!

Join Public Game

Join Friends Server

Create Friends Server

Leaderboards

in this demo i think only the join EA game was available..so you select that

then a full list of available games comes up,i say available but a lot of the games had 16/16 players,so you wouldnt be able to get in there...i got into a game 15/16..all games available were green Ping,so no worries there

the two available maps for the online demo are The Shire and Minas Tirith

The Shire, the map is pretty damn big actually,i spawned on the first capture point and as the game was half way through,i had to run for a while to get to where the action was,all these games that were available were conquest games(even though that is the name of the game-LOTR:conquest-i am sure other type of games will be made available as there wouldnt be any need to tell us that its a Conquest game...right?)

there were various capture points over the maps, and you have to stand in the decently sized circle surrounding the capture point to take it,if any bad guys enter that circle then the capturing is halted(you will learn all this in the training,so dont worry too much)

gameplay is very fast and furious,so it does take time to get used to the pace..at first, and actually still i am getting my ass owned all over the shop...as the good guys you can get onto Trees/Ents and ride them abaout as more of a force to be reckoned with..or ride Horses, but trust me you wont last long

choosing a character and getting used to him and sticking with him seems to be the way...i was quite fond of the Scout,as when bad guys were taking over the capture point i would turn invisible and knife the bastard from behind..but sometimes it doesnt last long the invisibility,so you are kinda Banther Fodder..or Shire Shit is you wish

Heroes come and go in the game as well, prolly because you are doing so well(i didnt get a choice while i was playing)...Balrog for the bad guys,Gandalf for the good guys...i guess that selection will change on different maps (as you play Isildur in the training)

Minas Tirith is a decent enough map,but seems a bit more Linear..but then again i didnt play this one as much as The Shire one,so there could be much more to it,i do know that there are big Bows to straddle(like some of the mounted guns in battlefront),and has lots of arch ways up above where you can use your bow and arrow on the enemy down below

the online games that are available have no AI,just the 8 players V's 8..but in the full game there will be AI as well, which hopefully will mean it will be easier to get your kills up(although if the AI are involved,Minas Tirith will be very cramped)
as well as Horses, there are Wargs to ride(evil motherf**king wolves)

and when you see either Trolls or Ents on the battlefield, you can climb onto them to attack it from on top(if you remember Legolas from the first movie in Balins Tomb on atop of the Cave Troll firing arrows into it)

anything wrong?

well,Training seemed to go great i was quite happy with that..even though the mini map is pretty much useless(same as in multiplayer)

Multiplayer though,you have

top right,mini map
bottom right energy
and bottom left health
thats the same for single player...but with multiplayer you also have,on the right hand side in the middle of the mini map up top and the energy bar below, the list of players on who has killed who(red for bad guys blue for good guys)..thats not mainly the problem them being there, its the colours they have chosen to use for this...we are talking bright light blue(more Turquoise)..and the red is a very bright red,so it hurts the eyes to look upon

thats really the only complaint i have, but it really messes up the whole screen, why not stick it with more decent colours in the top left where there is nothing

the graphics could be better i suppose for being current gen,but they do the job so i am not complaining

and i am not sure about the VERY BIG arrows pointing out objectives, something a little more subtle would of been fine

but i am still looking forward to the full game..if anything its when you run out as Warrior with the Lord Of The Rings music blasting out

once you start getting used to the controls,it becomes much easier to kill(obviously)...the 360 version should be a blast for me,i feel more at home with the 360 controller

i loved both Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and was really looking forward to Mistwalkers next title Cry On,however the title has now been cancelled

Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was always going to make three 360 games. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and action RPG Cry On. Now, according to 1UP, he'll only be releasing two.

Developer and Mistwalker collaborator (they worked on Blue Dragon DS) AQ Interactive have announced that the project - which has been missing in action for a few years anyway (it was first announced in 2005) - is now dead in the water.

A statement issued by the company says "AQI decided to cancel the project after analyzing the current market environment and forecasts for the future. We deeply apologize for troubling those who were awaiting its release".

AQ Interactive Announces Cancellation Of Cry On For Xbox 360
Third of Sakaguchi's planned trio of 360 games becomes a Christmas Day lump of coal.
By Nick Des Barres, 12/25/2008

On Christmas Day in Japan, AQ Interactive has announced the cancellation of Cry On for Xbox 360. First revealed in 2005, Cry On was to be developed by Mistwalker and Cavia as the third in Hironobu Sakaguchi's triumvirate of Xbox 360 titles. Cry On was to be an action RPG featuring a Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack, with character designs by Kimihiko Fujisaka. No screen shots were ever shown.
When asked about the cancellation, AQI responded, "AQI decided to cancel the project after analyzing the current market environment and forecasts for the future. We deeply apologize for troubling those who were awaiting its release."

i found the extended trailer on Eurogamer for Final Fantasy:Versus XIII..all CVG,or whatever they are calling it nowadays, but it looks good

Final Fantasy Versus XIII-PS3

and Final Fantasy Agito XIII for the PSP,shows in game footage as well, looks quite good

13037  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What's Your Game of the Year? on: December 21, 2008, 01:00:42 PM
my list maybe a bit biased,as i am really just a 360 player,so apart from number 1,thats the only non 360 title here

game of the year for me is
Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots-PS3

knew it was going to be good, but was still suprised with how good,it took me 17 hrs to complete...which makes it the longest MGS game..at least for me
loved all the extras like Ipod tunes
great ending and loved how it got everyone back into the story..only thing that put a damper on the whole thing was installing each act for 10 or so minutes, and then installing it again if you wanted to restart the game..but other than that, masterpiece

and sorry PS3 lovers,i still want a 360 version!!

the following 3 titles are in no order, all 3 were favourites
Fallout 3-360

Typical Bethseda, gaming world alone was fantastic, the amount you could do in the game was staggering with the amount of people you could interact with, thankfully all with different voices this time around...and all this with pretty impressive loading times<<it has to be said

i did a hell of a lot in the game, uncovered everything(thanks to the explorer perk 20)..but i reckon that i could still of got a few more hours out of the game.and we still have the DLC to come

Lost Odyssey-360

i was one of the few who really liked Blue Dragon,so i was really looking forward to this, the trailer with Jefferson Airplane is one of my favourites..the game itself was great, lots of different enviroments,a great storyline, and the funny parts, were actually funny..the voice cast didn't do a bad job either

GTA4-360

the game here....is the city, the city is even the main character, not Niko, its the city that really makes this game work,i still preffered GTA:San Andreas, but this is still a marvel,i am looking forward to the DLC
the story was typical so-so stuff for GTA vets...i think Flying around in a chopper has never been so great

disappointments of the year

well,it has to be said i was really looking forward to Too Human-360..havent been so heartbroken over a game like this for a long time,i think i got about just over half way,it just seemed like two steps forward, one step back all the way through the game, and the animation for the death scene, although great at first quickly got annoying

Star Wars:The Force Unleashed-360...it started of decent enough but by the time it got to the star destroyer scene,it had become repeditive and especially that part annoying,as the actions on the screen arent what you are meant to do at that paticular point so it could be very misleading..i liked the parts about the Rebel alliance,though...no where near as disappointing as Too Human, but still..FWIW:i have heard its great on the Wii

Guitar Hero:Aerosmith-360

i am a big fan of Aerosmith,so i was pissed that there wasnt nearly enough songs in this package, missed out some real gems as well, like Dude looks like a lady or Janie's got a gun,i still had fun playing(i play on easy because i am shit)...and nice Guitar

worth mentioning of the year
Fable II-360

a good game, but still too short(DLC will help, but why should it?)...like GTA4,its the gaming world that really makes the game...oh and me being able to take 3 Gypsies to bed at once also icon_biggrin icon_biggrin icon_twisted
(and i wanted more Stephen Fry)

Call Of Duty:World At War-360

there isnt a day go by that i dont play this, but to be fair,i am a little cheesed of at about half the maps...either they are too small(instead of Dome, why dont they just have a cardboard box to fight in)..or are spoiled by the inclusion of Tanks..and me spawning with all the bad guys all the time doesn't help either...but it must be doing something right if i am on it everyday

i also have to mention Infinite Undiscovery-360..as i really enjoyed myself with the game,it had a great story as well
13038  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dash of Destruction XBLA on: December 17, 2008, 06:50:40 PM
yup, much better than the Yaris one,i actually had fun in the 20 minutes it took for the 200/200 achievements..and i am glad it was free,i prolly wouldnt of paid for it

BullWinkle-do you have a second controller/account?(i actulally used my Aerosmith guitar from guitar hero)..thats how i did it,i left my second account in the top corner of the screen while i did all the work and won the round

To cut a long story short, out of convenience we had to buy a bundle: 360 Premium, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Far Cry 2, and...ahem...Sega Superstar Tennis and PGR4.

my friend has just bought a 360 bundle with those last two games..PGR4 is great(well,i love it)

i have to put the call of duty games out there for you, even number 2 is a great game and it should be very cheap now(no doubt GAME will have it for next to nothing)..or even Number 3...and at the moment number 4 and COD:World at War are must buys(even if you are single player only)

as for downloading xbox originals from the marketplace i have had so-so success..Fable I had a lot of hiccups and freezes alot, however Burnout 3,and Farenheit(Indigo Prophecy) are fine...they cost 1200 points,so you may(or prolly will)be able to find the actual xbox disc version for much cheaper...especially Halo(which is on there)

EDIT:Oh,and i have to add Mass Effect(i have just rebought it)..and if you have never played them, try Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 for the xbox 1,they are both Backwards compat...3 great(western)RPGs
13040  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS HOME - IT'S OUT! on: December 15, 2008, 06:13:10 PM
ever since the open beta came out last thursday, people in the UK(i think maybe all of Europe)can only get on at around 5am-6am....other times everyone just gets a C-931 error message, lots of people are complaining over on the PS3 forums..and it is now the fourth day...and they all know that there is no problem really on getting on the U.S or Japanese betas if you have those accounts

i tried and tried with the UK,but nothing, tried with my U.S ...straight on

sunday moring 6am,i managed to get on with the UK one(and thats the only time)

there are a few differences.

this is the UK plaza/square whatever

the U.S one is quite different,i dont think they have such snazzy signs for the bowling, and we dont have that giant UFO game over the water in the middle

the cinema is the biggest difference between the two

the UK cinema, has a big lobby with a video playing away telling you all kinds of crap..and upstairs where there are more watchmen posters like downstairs, and 10 screens
this is what was on them
2 screens of eurogamer.tv
2 screns for hexus.tv
watchmen trailer(graphic novel movie from same director as 300)
red bull videos
Frost/Nixon trailer
Spirit(another graphic novel film ..sammy jackson and scarlet johanson)
Rocker trailer(looks so-so,kinda like a school rock thing)
Defiance Trailer(didnt watch this, but i think daniel craig is in it)

the thing is,you go into each cinema screen and thats all it is the screen and chairs, you cant move about like you can in the 1 U.S cinema screen

i actually had more fun in the U.S. Cinema, everyone running about, dancing at the front and unsuccesfully trying to pick up the girls, kinda reminded me of this

oh and the U.S home had the areas for Far Cry and Uncharted, which the UK doesnt have

prolly wont be buying anything(clothes, furniture.summer house)but i heard you can unlock stuff for yourself when you get a decent way into the arcade games

i liked it,but i cant see me turning on my PS3 just for it
