those for playstation will look at the first week of sales and say how great the playstation is and how that proves it,and ignore the second week

while those against playstation will ignore the first week of sales,and look at the second week and say that people are wising up

it inevitable,just like people will look upon the 360's good and bad side(i would say....xbox LIVE and the great games for good/3 red lights and crap ammount of space on hard drive for bad)

but the playstation 3 has only been out here ,2 weeks today!!

here in the UK,when xbox 1 went on sale(when was that?...2002?),i think it was a month after being released that a £100 price cut was announced as it did extremely badly,and they offered people who paid the £300 or so asking price and still had their console reciepts,£100 off towards any xbox accessories(games etc)...there was a lot of rumours at the time that it was burning/scratching games,especially in Japan i think...whether it was ,i dont know

of course,the xbox went from strength to strength,and even i bought one when i got a loan and had finally had some money for myself

so who knows how great the PS3 could end up.

i admit that i am more xbox/360 fanboy ,but i still play on my PS2 a lot

funnily enough it was metal gear solid 2:sons of liberty...which i am only just replaying now...but on xbox this time(substance)

games here are released on a friday,so i took the friday and the following monday off,just for good measure...a friend at work did the same thing ,and we were texting each other all weekend about the many twists in the story


on a side note,i took a whole week of sick when the Wii was released....i really was sick,but still made it to the shops come launch day(it would have to be more than the runs to keep me from getting my launch console) ,when it came to the whole moving your body for wii sports though,i was kinda on my ass

yup,yesterday i saw consoles for £399(usually £425)..hopefully it will continue,when i finally bag myself one

EDIT: as far as sales were,the first week were one of the greatest for a console,but the second week was i think it was a reported 82% fall....reminds me of when driver 3 came out,one of the fastest selling games on day one,and day two,everyone took it back,LOL...not that people are taking the console back...but you see what i mean ....still early days i say though

castlevania for the NES is so-so,didnt expect a masterpiece...super castlevania 4 was a lot better than i thought it was going to be,so i will have some fun with these two this weekend hopefully

i am just about to download the two virtual console castlevania titles,because i enjoy this one....wonder if anymore will appear on xbox live arcade

i have just picked this up,but have yet to play it...with it being £24.99(same price as the platinum/classics range)i wasnt suprised that there was no LIVE whatsoever(it didnt even have the LIVE sign in the top corner of the cover)..but it does have achievements...6 of them,so i guess thats something...i bought it because despite the graphics,it did look like fun

i am definelty somewhere in the middle...some games i am the worse in the world at,even though i like the games(GRAW and rainbow 6 vegas im looking at you)...some games i feel as though i am decent enough(COD2 and 3)...other games i am not really bothered as long as i am having a good time(definelty Burnout revenge.star wars battlefront games)

we can be the only winners in this console war(and thats 'we' not 'wii')

the launch numbers here were good(coming second in the best selling launch ever,after the PSP),but the overall feeling is that most people want to wait until either a price cut or MGS4 and FF13 are available(i am mainly in the second one)

although i know that £425 is quite good for the added BLU-RAY,a lot of people just dont want it(BLU-RAY i mean) and just want to play games,thats what a lot of people have said in my work,and my outside of work friends feel the same,i dont know anyone who has bought a PS3

there was a big thing in my magazine about PGR4(which i have heard is just gonna be called 'gotham 4'...but that may just be the magazine..er,not telling the truth)PGR4 V's FORZA...both looked great,and i am gonna get both,even if i am still not very good at them

if you havent yet finished final fantasy 12,dont read below,there maybe some spoilers



so i have finally completed final fantasy 12...i say completed,but i only got 28 hunts,and didnt do as many side quests as i would of liked...and yes,i still needed a few hundred license points to fill the board,but this morning i looked at the pile of games i have waiting for me to get into,that have all been waiting patiently,as soon as FF12 came along they all got pushed to one side...so,impressions

this game is very different for me than other final fantasy games,maybe its the random battles that no longer happen or the fact that,maybe its because there is no card game or blitzball,taken over now by the hunt,which i thought was pretty cool(usually the sub games are dire IMO in the final fantasy games...blitzball for one was terrible)....but mainly i think its because of the gambits,i love these,but they do take a lot out of the gameplay...a lot of times whenever a boss came along,that was a sign for me to put the controller down and have a few gulps of some diet coke...which i usually wait for a cut scene to come my way..but i suppose if it was up to me,i would definelty like to see them again in final fantasy 13

as i have said before,the 'rare'hunt i feel came to late in the game,i wasnt that interested in it when i knew that i already had nearly a dozen or so rare game,and giving the trophies away to the 3 brothers,didnt want me to go and find the rare hunts again

the story-as much as i liked the story i felt as though there was something missing,again as said,sephiroth slicing your loved one in two(sorry to be so graphic,but come on....aeries is dead,get over it!!,LOL),but it still very well for the betrayal part,and the family part as well,it sometimes,expecially near the end,got very close to feeling like star wars,which is no bad thing.....while star wars was again going against the mighty empire,it never felt boring with the details,but the details of this story did get me thinking......'huh?'...but it all rounds off more or less nicely and i am satisfied with how well i 'got' it all in the end

i am not sure how i am about there not being any luuurve in the story,i thought maybe Penelo and Larsa would get it on,hell i thought maybe there was gonna be some bunny lovin'with Fran and Balthier...or even Vaan and Ashe,but i guess Vaan looks to much like Ashes last dead hubby...anyway,so no lovey poos in the story.....theres something else that isnt like recent final fantasies...no biggie i suppose

characters-the characters in final fantasy 12 are IMO,good but dont hold anything against the heroes and princesses of the past.....Basche was my favourite,he looked cool,and i have been thinking about giving myself a scar like his just so i could look as cool as him.....but i remember thinking that with final fantasy 8 and Squalls facial scar...damn i have to grow up!!!

Balthier was also good,i liked how he thought he was the leading man all the time,and he was quite interesting,especially with Dr Cid

Ashe and Penelo were pretty bland,as was Vaan,i really thought that Vaan being the real leading man would of been more interesting....he was no puppet like Zidane,or didnt have any disturbing mixed up past like Cloud...even Tidus was more interesting than this guy,Fran on the other hand,had the past,talked wierd and looked great whenever she turned her back on the camera(i wonder just how practical her clothing really was),it would of been nice to know how her and Balthier's paths had met,i may of missed that if it was said


monsters-the monsters were great and varied,i did miss the usual gang from the final fantasy games,but at least they had malboro there,and the Espers just werent used at all,the quickenings were used at earlier bosses,and made mince meat out of them,but soon enough they became obsilite towards the end


gameplay-for me this final fantasy has been the easiest for a while,not that that is bad,it feels as though they have catered for those who have never played a FF before,it easy to get into,the fighting is straight forward and even the camera is spot on,at least i didnt have any problems with the camera like other FF games or even the Kingdom Hearts series

all my characters were exactly the same,i started to level a lot early in the game and i took this oppertunity to have a lot of loot to sell,so that i could buy all 6 most powerful weapons at the time and just kept on upgrading when the time came,it was usually the axes or hammers i were using all the time...but when i came to a flying enemy then i had bows in reserve and would just switch,and i kept changing parties every time one levelled and worked on the other party

here are what i had my gambits set out to,more or less all characters

1-Ally:any                             Esuna

i would occasionally have to take one or two off,like at the end boss when all he did was cast dispel on my entire party,so all my party was doing was constantly casting their haste and regen while the boss was constantly casting dispel...i had to take it off just so i could get a shot in,for the rest of the game though this worked great for me,i put Libra down there because of it not really being needed during a fight...and when the upgrade came along,i replaced it with the upgrade...eg,raise changed to arise nearer to the end


anyway,finally i would like to say that i have enjoyed the game,i would give it a mid to high 90s mark...86hrs i had on the clock with all my characters at level 64

and now final fantasy 12 can join,final fantasy 7,final fantasy 9 and kingdom hearts 1 for square games i have managed to finish(i did get to the end boss for final fantasy 1,but he was rock hard to beat)
 

when i read the title of this thread i thought it was gonna be mario and metroid,LOL....they are the only two games i am waiting for on the Wii

armoured core 4 demo is now up,only available in US ,mexico and canada(i think it was already available in japan)..so europe get shafted again...so,time to switch accounts,LOL

Compared to my PC, which is in the same room, the 360 isn't very loud at all when just sitting there or playing things off the hard drive.  When then DVD drive spins up, though, that is a noisy whine.  I don't really notice it too much anymore, but it does add to the background noise. 

For media extenter duty I think it would be quieter thank your PC, especially since you say you can hear that from another room. 

????...i am not being funny but ...a loud whine?...this remeinds me of when some people on here complained when their DS made a loud noise when recharging...mine doesnt do that either

even when i did first get it and put in PGR4,it was a whirring it made......both yours and destructors 360 sound as though they are gonna blow!!!

okay this weekend has been busy for console action
yesterday i finished the shivering isles expansion for oblivion,while today,i have been doing a lot on final fantasy 12

got quite far now,and i am only a stones throw from the end,but i have a few more things i wanna do before i set off for the final

1)i have 27 hunts to my name,wanna get 30 and call it quits,i think thats enough...i did try to get ancient man of mystery(i wanted austin powers,but thats international man of mystery,lol)...did the first fight okay,but the second fight,as well as being a pain to get to,was quite sodding hard...and i couldnt kill him(well,his bleeding dog anyway)

2)wanna check out the rare hunt guys at phon coast,i feel that this side quest has actually come too late in the game,i think it would of suited the game if this was maybe near the middle or even nearer to the start

3)i wanna fill that license board...need about 1000 points,i have this add on that gives me double LP so hopefully that wont take long

4)i wanna do that side quest where you travel on all the airships and talk to ann's sisters...i dont know why i wanna do this


anyway,back to the story,that lighthouse was quite a pain,cant say i enjoyed it that much(i actually looked forward to the many boss battles in there)

all my weapons hit for 101attack at the moment,taking about 3-4k of a typical enemy(the zodiac spear,the toughest in the game is 150 for attack..that takes about 5k usually)...on one of the hunts i did i got 'save the queen' sword,which brought back memories of final fantasy 9

so all my party are level 63 right now,and i have 84 hrs on the clock,i was thinking about that yesterday...oblivion i have 96hrs...but i have had that game since last April,FF12 i have had since 23rd february,LOL

back in december 2005 when i bought my 360,i put in PGR4,and was horrified to hear how loud the console was

now,i hardly notice it......to tell you the truth,i dont notice it,i dont know if its because i have gotten used to it or because one of the numerous updates for the 360 fixed it,i dont know

all i know is that it is now my primary DVD player

yeah i know,just as san andreas is california(or LA),vice city is miami,and san ferria(whatever it was called) was san francisco..but the London add on pack is the only 'real' city setting

 a few people are saying that they dont think its liberty city,but new york...as the land marks,and rockstar are trying to fool them

from all the trailers on the net,it doesnt look as good as on my TV downloaded from xbox live marketplace

and there i have had a better time pausing the trailer and looking for clues,at first i thought it wasnt gonna be liberty city(see my post some way above),despite it saying so on the boat(cos it could of come from liberty city and docked at this city),and it says liberteen on a building..or liberty tree in another sign...could be rockstar fooling us(making us go round in circles)...but i think it will be set in liberty city,and its the ferry terminal scene that won me over....over to the right in that part it says liberty ...but above the ferry terminal sign(where the 'R' is missing from ferry)above that is another sign.....with the letters ' iber y'...the L and T missing.

the statue of 'liberty' is another sure sign...but then again they had a london addon pack set in the '60s,so it isnt wise to rule out New York


and i guess those rumours about it being set in the 70's were wrong,that car definetly looks like it came after the 70s..although the russians (foreign)clothing does not...but then again he is russian or foreign

i think i actually have it on easy setting ...i cant remember,it was a year ago when i first started playing...i went off from when i played morrowind and thought it was gonna be a complicated type of game,with info everywhere so i did myself a favour and put it on easy
