.how the froggin' hell are you meant to get all the bombs, with all those Zombies(i swear there are thousands in the maintanance tunnel that you have to wade through) and that S.O.B driving into you as well???
.....and the damn survivors are thick as zombie crap, instead of avoiding the zombies like i do,they run head first into them

i think i am the only one who wasnt excited when they announced that DR2 would have 6000 zombies on screen at once....and may even think that the Wii version of having 5 zombies on screen at once(or whatever it was)..maybe the way to go

as for multiplayer, this isnt the kind of game i would want to have multiplayer...most companies now stick multiplayer on a game just for the hell of it.....i can't say Bioshock needed multiplayer either

okay, this maybe a little late for me...as i said the game was a keeper..well i lied and traded it when i finished with it

3 lots of DLC is coming out for this, the first pack is explained here

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/saints-row-getting-three-dlc-packs

Quote
Volition has revealed that it is working on three downloadable content packs for Saints Row 2, the first of which, Ultor Exposed, is due out on 16th April for PS3 and Xbox 360.

"Ultor Exposed is the first of three DLC packages that will be made available for Saints Row 2," DLC producer James Torbit told Eurogamer in an exclusive Ultor Exposed interview today.

"I'll get my brake lines cut if I reveal any details [on the other two], but rest assured that we're hard at work building on the Saints Row 2 experience."

Ultor Exposed consists of three new missions, available any time after the original prologue, and features porn star Tera Patrick as a homie who can join you in the battle to expose the dodgy Ultor corporation.

It will be priced at 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) on Xbox 360 and GBP 7.99 on PlayStation Network.

The pack also includes a new "competitive co-op" diversion, where players gain points by killing gang members, blowing things up and the like, along with six new vehicles, two new maps and extra customisation options.

There are also five new Achievements to unlock worth 125 gamerpoints on Xbox Live, covering a range of objectives.

shame this didnt come sooner,i did love the game and would of been up for this/these

as i said on the Eurogamer site,800 points i think maybe a little too much as i reckon these missions arent Fallout 3 size DLC(which is also 800 points)
12811  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [XBOX-O]Max Payne 1 and 2 coming soon on: March 30, 2009, 07:34:34 PM
here in the UK,on the dashboard we have every monday a video stream called 'SentUAMessage' where the two inside xbox guys answer all the questions that get sent to them(to the gamercard SentUAMessage)..this week someone asked if Max Payne 1 and 2 would ever come to XBL...they said both were due to join the Xbox Originals list very soon

CVG have it here, but they say they are coming to xbox live arcade, which they arent...maybe they just meant Xbox live marketplace
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=212072

i couldnt get into the first but played and finished the second, maybe if i still have room on my HDD i will pick both up...not sure abut 1200 points each though, perhaps there should be a double pack or something
12812  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XBLA/PSN]Battlefield:1943 on: March 30, 2009, 01:59:54 PM
hmm,i dont mind it being 24 players,my online gaming mainly being brought up on star wars battlefront, which had 32 players....but the most online games i play now are the call of duty games which are usually around 12 players...Battlefield:Bad company is 24 players as well, and thats a great game

and as for cutsomization, well now it will be skill, instead of perks that gets the kill icon_wink...everyone will be in the same boat so to speak...also Microtransactions are in nearly every game now,at least we know it will be maps and not weapons that will be downloaded,i think it would be bad to be put off because of that, again this for me seems like the same route WarHawk went down

i did play 50 player games in Black Hawk Down for the original Xbox,it was alright...but it wasnt so much as skill, but more, how long you can survive...but that maybe the game

with this and Call of Duty coming to XBLA/PSN i think i am gonna need a new pair of pants...i'm VERY excited

Battlefield:1943

to cut to the chase,at the moment,it will be released with 3 maps, and 3 classes..and the guy says that he would be very suprised if it wasnt 1200 points

i am sure they will add more maps at a later date,in fact its prolly a given, and there will be 24 players max per room,i downloaded Warhawk but could never really get into it,this looks like it will be more my thing(especially as the planes dont look like they have complicated controls)

if you have played any of the ptehr Battlefield games(most recently Bad company)then you will know that Battlefield games have Huuuuge maps...so the 3 maps hopefully will fill the gap until more arrive(if indeed they do arrive)

Quote
Never mind Bad Company - welcome to Dimwit Company. Nobody's talking to one another - hardly surprising, since the guys to either side of me are Italian, French and Spanish - and once the landing craft hit the beach, we've all regressed by about seven years. Italy's landed a biplane upside down on an anti-aircraft gun, and I'm stuck fast in a trench. In a tank.

Battlefield 1943 may be simplified - three maps, three classes, one objective - but the key word is accessibility, not casual. There's a tutorial this time - the first in the series, rather unbelievably - that introduces you to the concepts offline and then lets you practice in planes and tanks unmolested by hostiles. There are facilities for private matches, clans and squads, and there are levelling and reward systems (Achievements/Trophies and a broader range of honours beyond that, although no unlocks), but for the majority of people approaching the game from scratch, it's a one-click process to start playing, and it's not difficult to understand what's going on. You pick an infantryman, rifleman or scout class and then choose where to spawn. But it's still Battlefield, and it still punishes you for pratting around.

There are five control points on each map, like the one we're seeing today - Iwo Jima, after last month's reintroduction to Wake Island - and the European press gathered at DICE's wind-battered Stockholm headquarters have more difficulty negotiating the keycard door to the balcony than they do contesting the territory on the second map's thin, turbulent sliver of Ogasawara. Fighting seesaws between an airstrip at one end through trenches and over grassy hills past a lighthouse to higher ground at the other, and while all the vehicles are present and correct, it's an infantry war; automatic weapons, bazookas, sniper rifles, pistols and - gloriously - katanas doing the best of the killing.
'Battlefield 1943' Screenshot 1

Yet there really is a lot to it, just as there should be, and it's been tweaked smartly. Snipers blink - a well-judged stab of disorientation - into their telescopic sights and trace anyone daft enough to wander around out of cover; bazookas eviscerate the arrogant tanks; and the new bomber wings are repelled by anti-aircraft fire (another clever bit of balancing - rather than an unavoidable artillery strike, when a bombing run is called in from a special shack the team in the crosshairs now has a slim chance of repelling the onslaught).

DICE has played around with these maps, despite their heritage, and the results appeal to old and new. Senior producer Patrick Liu tells me that the small team deliberately reorganised them symmetrically. "Wake Island used to be one team defending the island and the other team attacking it. Now we've made it so there are two carriers and both teams are attacking the island, just to make things fair. Otherwise, for a total newb, it's extremely hard to get into asymmetric gameplay."

There's also a squad command system, similar to Battlefield: Bad Company. Commands are context-sensitive, so if you're staring at an enemy flag and issue an instruction, your comrades are told to attack; if you're staring at your own flag, they're told to defend. You can also spawn next to anyone else in the squad, rather than just the squad leader, so if he's a sniper hiding out in the distance, you can pick someone closer to the action and materialise there.

One big tweak came only very recently, in response to feedback on the Wake Island trailer. Apparently you all thought it looked too much like Battlefield Heroes, DICE's toonified third-person PC spin-off. Iwo Jima is considerably darker. Presumably if you pipe up again, Guadalcanal - the third of the maps, which no one has seen in its 1943 form yet - will be set at night under clouds inside Tim Burton's head, wearing a blindfold made of dried blood and mucus. "Guadalcanal is also a good blend of vehicles and infantry, but it's such a huge map and also has a lot of hills. There's a lot of sniping in that level," Liu says of it.

Another distinctive facet is the technology itself. 1943 may be a download-only multiplayer shooter built for an impulse purchase, but as we noted last time it's also built on Bad Company's proprietary Frostbite engine, which means fully destructible environments - more so even than last year's physics-heavy console shooter. Propane blows holes in buildings, towers fall, and fences buckle under tank-tread - Christian was much more poetic. Despite this, and the 24 players running around the Xbox 360 version we're playing on devkits, the frame-rate ping-pongs between 30 and 60fps.

It's enormous fun, but it still has me worried. There are sceptics among the Battlefield hardcore, but they should be converted when the demo versions hit around the time of the game's summer release on PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The bigger problem is going to be finding a look-in audience, because whatever price DICE ends up going with - and after discussing it with Liu, and the series' executive producer Karl-Magnus Troedsson, I'd be surprised if it wasn't 1200 Microsoft Points, although they won't commit just yet - people are going to say it's 'only got three maps', even though they represent hours of potential gameplay.

"We are considering how we can communicate that," Liu says. "For fans that are familiar with Battlefield, they know how deep it is and how many hours you can get out of just one level. For new players, it is difficult to communicate how much playtime you get out of these few levels. We know from experience that the Wake Island demo for 1942 was played a lot. Some people never stopped playing it. So I don't have any answer to how we can solve that, but yes, it is an issue."

For Liu though, the most important thing about Battlefield 1943 - a project that span off from his own experiments with Frostbite after Bad Company was locked down at the start of 2008 - is that it captures "the spirit of Battlefield 1942". When I speak to him after his presentation, he tries to sum it up.

"I don't want to downplay the seriousness of war, but at the same time it's a lot of fun - just pure fun of being able to do basically everything in the game. One classic is to arm your jeep with C4 or dynamite and drive into the enemy base and just blow up everything. And it's not a mechanic that we built in just for that thing - it's just a result of the sandbox experience, and that together with more down-to-earth vehicles and weapons, because they're older, that makes the experience of Battlefield."

Even though it's undoubtedly more accessible, it's hard to argue that Battlefield 1943 is anything but an extension of that, and the things it's doing differently sit very comfortably alongside the equally classic, headlong rush for the nearest helicopter. It's just a shame none of us appears to know what to do with one.

if i remember rightly,Dreamworks brought out Medal of Honor for the PS1.. and created MoH:underground, now i am not sure if it was just after that game or while in production of MoH:Frontlines(which was developed and published by EA) when the medal of honor team weren't happy(it may of been the PC game allied assault)..so half the Medal of honor team split, and formed Infinity wards...and Infinity wards created Call of Duty,so its no suprise that the first COD game is 'Medal of Honorey'..

meh,ive seen worse teaser trailers...i mean what did the new Mass Effect 2 trailer show?..but thats what they are, teasers

this one shows a little more than first thought,it has a squad gearing up in an elevator, and the lead telling them 'Remember,No Russian'..whether that means dont kill the Russian or dont speak Russian to give themselves away i dont know, prolly the latter

and i wonder whether they will put the 'call of duty' name back in closer to the date, even Bioshock 2 doesnt know whether it wants its subtitle 'sea of dreams' or not

Good storyline and the gameplay/quests were more of the same thing you played in the original (base) game.

Some new armor and weapons are made available too.

Graphics and sound are the same quality as the base game.

Spoiler for Hiden:
In my opinion the Arena combatants were way too easy to kill. I just used the Mauler and it was over in seconds

PSN, XBLA: The Original Call Of Duty Coming To Consoles For The First Time
callofdutyoriginal.png

Rating websites around the world are exploding with information, revealing a ton of new titles that we've yet heard a peep about. The latest being Infinity Ward's Original Call Of Duty, coming to the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade.

Despite Call Of Duty 2 and beyond being incredible hits on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 - one game in the series never came to consoles. The original Call Of Duty was never released on the original Xbox or PlayStation 2 and only came out on PC, instead Activision pushed Call Of Duty: Finest Hour and Big Red One side stories to the consoles. This will mean that the Xbox 360 will now be the one console you can play every single mainline title in the Call Of Duty series.

The first game was released back in 2003 and won a ton of awards. It will be interesting to see if this holds up. Will it include just a single player mode, or will it come complete with the multiplayer as well? What of United Offensive, the game's one expansion pack? So many questions.

It's certainly an interesting game to be coming out from Activision. With the release of Vigilante 8 Arcade and the reveal that they are bringing Wolfenstein 3D to each platform, it's strange to see something so recent come back as well. Hopefully our plead for Tony Hawk 2 making a return isn't in vein.

So, here's a thought - is the lack of DLC on the PS3 because of some exclusive deal with Microsoft, or is it because of this? The world may never know.

even if Kathode knew I'm sure he couldn't say, so why don't we stop bugging him about the PS3 DLC and start poking him about Elder Scrolls 5?  Tongue

i can't wait for Elder Scrolls 5,i loved Oblivion and liked Morrowind(until i ran into all sorts of problems on the xbox)

as for the DLC on PS3 there is a rumour that Bethesda had a little falling out with SONY over Oblivion GOTY(not sure what the actual falling out was) and that was a reason why they didnt put this DLC out on the PS3

i'm with you, after playing the demo of UNO rush it did start to grow on me,but another 800 points for this is a bit too much,i would of preffered if this was a DLC packsage for the original UNO...no need for a new game

the actual game,i didnt like how my cards were in the top left now instead of bottom middle,i kept looking in the old place, and as you say Bull when people press Uno... that doesnt always mean they have one card left this time,it means they are about to lay all their cards down,so you have no real warning that another person can finish, until its their turn, and then its too late

i did actually get to press the Y button when another player didnt call, but it only got me two cards delt to me...i am still not sure what i did there

also a lot of people are complaining about the price, when UNO rush was advertised back with the NXE it was meant to be advertised at 400points,but it came out at 800....developers obviously thought if Hasbro/EA can get away with over charging for the game night thing last week then so can we...as i said,it feels more like DLC than a whole new game,do people actually want two UNO games in their catalogue of arcade games or would they like all the options in one game entitled UNO

there is already a decent amount of DLC for UNO with the PGR/Kameo/Streetfighter packs...they should of just continued

LOL,i have a standard KODAK 256mb sd card in my Wii(i got it free from somewhere and thats where i have 'stored' it ever since)..the memory has been a problem for me for a while with the Wii(i remember having to delete a lot of stuff just so i could download FF:MLAK)...i dont think 256mb will cut it for me though so i will have to get a bigger card...got to see Nintendo has actually done something about this, and what the hell...maybe the sequel to FF:my life as a king will get me back on the Wii

Wheelman-yeah i'm annoyed at just looking at it all,the developers must be going apeshit, especially if it was exclusive to 360 DLC

JZ..ahh i see..damn i wish i was getting this DLC now,instead of waiting

i just checked a friends list while he was playing, although he hadnt got any of the achievements yet(not sure if he actually was able to get the DLC when it was up)..they were listed

4 achievements=100 points

Question:are there any new Achievements for this DLC?...this morning while the DLC was still up,i put the disc in expecting an update so i could look at the achievements(i am planning on getting all 3 DLC when the last one is out)..but no update

i also noticed that at the time the DLC had nearly been pushed of the front page(this was justa  few hours after The Pitt had been released) of Newly released DLC because of Rockband putting up 12 items, surely they,as in MS should just put up the Rock Band cover to let people know there is new stuff instead of it taking up all the page of new dlc additions(guitar hero and Lips are the same)

i looked again a few minutes ago,and thought Rock Band had pushed it off altogether, but i noticed that The Pitt was no longer available under Fallout 3s page..so i gathered something was wrong

see how Halo 3 does as well(its currently above PS3s COD: world at war!!),with it just coming out in the Classics range,i may rebuy it
Is this like the Platinum Hits in the US? What other recent ones are in it?

hmm,or is it called Platinum Hits here?..i can't remember but yeah same thing, along with Halo 3,Mass Effect and PGR4 also get released on the range

Mass Effect Classics/Platinum comes with a second disc apparently with interviews and such, and also comes with the DLC bring down the sky(you prolly still have to download it)..so maybe worth picking up over a pre-owned copy(if you havent got it already)...not sure if PGR4 comes with all its DLC,or Halo 3 for that matter

EDIT:yup, just checked they are called Classics here

notice the new 'only on xbox 360 and Windows' tag at the top

BTW - I was reading about this somewhere else, and apparently Sony started doing this back on October. I'm trying to track this down though, as I lost the source.

hmm,i wonder if that contributes to the Fallout 3 DLC?(or lack of)....KATHODE!!

Nintendo DS - 588,000 (up from 510.8K)
Xbox 360 - 391,000 (up from 309.0K)
PlayStation 3 - 276,000 (up from 203.2K)

wow, everyone had a better month...they can all prosper!!!,i feel like singing 'Give peace a chance' or something

honestly though i was suprised to see Streetfighter 4 xbox version higher than the PS3 version,i presumed PS3 version was gonna be higher because of the better D-Pad...although,i would prolly buy it for the 360 instead of my PS3,not sure why

see how Halo 3 does as well(its currently above PS3s COD: world at war!!),with it just coming out in the Classics range,i may rebuy it
