i agree,but most games dont do that for a good while.....Lost Planet has only been out since february,4 months which is nothing,think it may of been about a month later when the first download came

Microsoft could barely contain its glee at being able to confirm exclusive downloadable content for next year's Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV - but PS3 fans need not fear, as it seems the Sony release is also firmly in line to receive its very own dazzling additions.

According to a source close to Rockstar North, the team is working on exclusive supplemental content for both systems, which will be made available for download via Microsoft and Sony's respective online services after the game's release next year.

In case you missed it, Microsoft revealed at X06 that Xbox 360 owners will get "exclusive access to two downloadable, epic episodes of GTA IV via Xbox Live, each with hours of entirely new gameplay and available only on Xbox 360 just months after the release of the title".


We're told to expect much the same deal on PS3, except unique to the platform. Interestingly, the downloadable content, our source maintains, will take the form of brand new areas which will link into the main GTAIV game world.

"Think of the world as a large island - the new downloadable areas will be like smaller islands linking into it," the source explained. (Which is a structural analogy, rather than a suggestion that the game is set on an island, we hasten to add.)

How many additional areas or episodes Rockstar is planning is anyone's guess at this juncture, but it seems the game is at least being structured to accommodate a number of expansive new content releases in the weeks and months after release, while also satisfying platform holder - and console owner - demand for exclusive material.

Though with 'exclusive' being a somewhat elastic term these days, especially where Grand Theft Auto is concerned, we wouldn't be remotely surprised if you end up playing 'exclusive' 360 episodes on your PS3, and vice versa. One thing's for sure - there's nothing more certain to piss off the fanboys than a level playing field.

No formal response from Rockstar at the time of writing. But, as ever, don't expect official word until they're good and ready.

It has just been announced that Gears of War will be getting a title update tomorrow, June 14th after 0200 GMT. Inside the Title Update, you’ll find eight new Achievements for the "Annex" gametype and the "Hidden Fronts" Multiplayer Map Pack on Xbox LIVE.

In addition to adding new Achievements, worth a total of 250 points, Epic has improved the Roadie Run controls so players have greater control of their movement. The title update will also help squash multiplayer exploits and provide general housekeeping.

The "Annex" gametype is now available for free and the "Hidden Fronts" Multiplayer Map Pack is available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points.
All four multiplayer maps will be available for free after Sept. 3, 2007.

Earth Defense Force!

I will highly second this.  It's definitely B-game quality because of the lack of polish, but it is a ton of fun and addicting.

mario strikers looks decent enough...but nothing that would make me run to the shops
i think the next game i want for the Wii,or at least try out is resident evil4...and thats a few years old now,and of course mario galaxy and metroid3..whenever they are due

i hardly touch my Wii now(last turned it on 2 weeks ago to see the VC titles).....maybe if they brought some decent games out for it....maybe that would change

Awwww, you guys make me so proud. Ocarina of Time is right up there with A Link to the Past at the top of the Zelda franchise, and one of the best games to arise from the 32-bit generation.

this full version of the PS3 one i saw on Kotaku,but the shorter one was played before spider-man 3 when i saw it at the cinema....in fact it had a lot of PS3 stuff before the movie started(with the film being sony pictures an all).

i think the sony one really has left me saying...'huh?'...i didnt even see a ps3 in the commercial.....and if thats living,are they taking a pop at people who dont live like that,and play on consoles?

The Church of England is to sue Sony over the use of Manchester Cathedral as the backdrop to Resistance, which the ITV labels, incidentally, "a violent computer game". It's about shooting make-believe aliens with make-believe guns, isn't it?

Anyway, religious leaders have apparently accused Sony of "desecrating" the cathedral. Again ITV jumps in to let us know that Resistance: Fall of Man is a PlayStation 3 game "in which hundreds are killed during a virtual shoot-out inside the building". Makes it sounds like a real-life WWII documentary, or something.

Back to the story and the Church says Sony didn't ask for permission to use the cathedral and has demanded an apology and the removal of the game from shop shelves - otherwise legal action will be considered. Now that's a big ask, especially as it's one of PS3's biggest sellers. Sony has not returned calls to officials from the Church, says ITV.


It doesn't end there though. Oh no. Sony has also been branded "irresponsible" for choosing Manchester, which ITV describes as "a city plagued by gun violence". Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Nigel McCulloch, said: "It is well known that Manchester has a gun crime problem. For a global manufacturer to re-create one of our great Cathedrals with photo-realistic quality and then encourage people to have guns battles in the building is beyond belief and highly irresponsible."

ITV concluded by saying that during the game "players are asked to assume the role of an army sergeant and win a battle" and that screenshots show the interior of the Cathedral "with the player's gun ready to fight; soldiers can be seen elsewhere in the nave taking aim".

We don't know what's worse; accusing Sony of desecrating a cathedral, talking about Resistance like it's real-life or describing Manchester as a city plagued by gun violence. Sound off below.

A Square Enix executive has disclosed to Japan's Nikkei BP that the company currently has no plans for Final Fantasy games on the 360.

Noting that the PS3 is getting Final Fantasy XIII, the website asked Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto if the Wii or Xbox 360 will also be getting games in the series. "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production," replied Hashimoto. "As for FF on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."

Strong words from Hashimoto, although perhaps if everyone goes out and buys Last Remnant (that includes you!), Square Enix will have a change of heart.

i have had the Wii on and then gone to the shopping channel,and then the wii-mote has just ceased to work...,i have to reset the wii(by unplugging it,as the on/off button doesnt work at that time)...doesnt happen a lot,but it happens

and also when having two players,it took a very long time to get the second controller working,as everything i was doing,which was right.....wasnt working<<<<,this isnt really an issue,as apart from Zelda,i have only played actual Wii games for about 1 or 2 hrs,since buying it in december

Forza 2 gets released this friday here,so thats the one for me

Shinra just collapsed the plate on Sector 7 last night.  (I assume we’re not going to bother with spoiler tags, since the game is 10 years old).  There is a short cinematic that I never really paid much attention to before.  The collapsing plate is shown through a Sector 7 resident’s front room window.  They are obviously just sitting around watching TV, when suddenly the sky literally collapses and crushes an entire city.   You then see President Shinra looking out over the wreckage from the top of Shinra tower while an operatic score plays in the background.  The guy just killed thousands of people, and he’s simply having a glass of wine while he looks out over the carnage.  Those Shinra folks are some seriously evil, heartless bastards.

I’ve really enjoyed the 4 hours I’ve put in so far, and should be able to get a few more hours in this week.  It’s good to start this one again.

thats exactly where i am,i am just about to head for the shinra building and if i remember rightly go up those 600million flight of stairs that takes forever(!)

i wasnt really interested in buying this game and was gonna give it a miss...but after reading the last 5 pages,i am hyped up for it(still isnt released until friday for me)....i loved gran turismo 3(not so much 4),so hopefully i will be a glued to it as i was GT3(and yeah i had the Nissan skyline...was that the big red car?..with the big fatass spoiler on the back?...if so,it wiped everything else in that game)

i just heard that the new splinter cell game is also unreal 3 engine(they(Ubisoft) described it as more unreal 3.5 because of improvements they have made)...it(splinter cell) looks a lot like the engine that was used for Assassins creed,but that Jade Raymond hottie says that they are two different engines

My real disappointment was with my PS2, however!

So strange that the PS2 can't emulate this one game properly. And here I thought the console had like 99% compatibility with PS1 games (and most of those were off-shoot games that weren't well known).
