1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Is there a way to increase turn timers in Blood Bowl? on: January 06, 2012, 02:56:14 AM
Anyone know if there's a way to increase (or turn off) turn timers for Classic mode in Blood Bowl Legendary?  I seem to remember a way to edit back in Dark Elves edition, but can't even find that info anymore.

While that may be true (also termed "beat 'em up), the game was already posted here and no one argued the point at the time...but I can start a new thread if that would make you feel better?

A guy at work is really into this

http://www.wolfire.com/lugaru

It's SP only but they are creating a sequel overgrowth which will be MP. That's all I know - would love to hear some impressions

Sorry to necro, but I found this in a search for Lugaru info.  I'm playing the demo right now and have to say it's a pretty amazing little fighting game.  Anyone else gotten into it?  I see that Overgrowth is in full development, but seeing as Lugaru is it's predecessor I had to give it a try.  Would love to hear what anyone else thinks about it...I believe it was aslo part of the Humble Bundle a while back, but I missed it.

My goblin invasion sucked. I just got gold and spiked balls. No rocket boots, no harpoons. Oh well, I'm sure there will be another one. My new (green) lightsaber will keep me happy for now. smile

Ouch, I'm surprised.  Are you sure your bags weren't full and a nice set of rocket boots aren't lying in a ditch somewhere, lol?  It's happened to me quite a few times.

Also, I prefer this wiki over the one posted before.

Yeah, I like the setup of that page more so than the other.

I think 1 in 15, but you have to meet certain criteria like:

*You must have at least one person in the game with 200+ current life.
*You must have smashed at least one Shadow Orb.
*You must not have had an invasion within 7 in-game days.

Anyway, my venting is over, for now.

I don't know...I bet most people who will try Terraria have already played Minecraft.  Aside from the slight differences in building (with a back wall panel), it seemed to be intuitive to me.  But then again, I'm someone who does a bit of research (wiki and whatnot) before playing a game.  I realize a lot of people are the opposite, jumping in and asking questions later, which would frustrate the hell out of me in games like this.

As far as Youtube videos....well, as always 90% of the results are crap.

I just started up a new world, and I didn't realize all your stuff found in one world carries over, which will be cool because I don't like the new world but found a ton if iron and copper ore right away.

Yeah I found 3 hearts in my old world (like 20 hours of play).  Popped into a new world, dug for maybe 15 minutes, and found 3 more.  Sometimes it pays to visit other worlds...though it does feel a little cheap.

Remember that if you need to remove platforms, you do this with a hammer - not an axe or pick. Same with the background walls.

Replacing background walls suck so bad.  I was going to go from wood to stone and quickly dismissed the idea once I realize I have to take everything out of my chests, take the chests down, place the wall, and replace the chest and items.  Major inconvenience.

Use Wooden Platforms (made from 1 piece of wood). They work like a 2 way platform in any platformer. You can jump through them to land on top of them, and can drop down through them by pressing the down key.

cool, thanks!

Yeah, you'll be placing a lot of platforms...A LOT. Heh, well, at least until you can make a grappling hook.

Actually, I believe a map viewer does exist for Terraria, along with the widescreen hack.  And not sure what happened when you summoned the Eye of Cthulu, but he should have killed you.  Guess you got lucky...?  Maybe because it was daytime outside?

i'm fast getting desperate for one of 2 things...a mouseover showing what a tile is (silver/iron/stone), or a mod that replaces silver and iron grahpics.

Yeah, better item visuals and/or tooltips would be extremely helpful.  I also tend to miss gemstones (seeing them later upon returning to the same spot).  Sometimes they're just not bright enough for me to see.

Edit:  Looks like we may never get mods that aren't DLC content from the developers: http://lokkazad.com/?p=532 Well, looks like I may go back to Minecraft.  I hate developer asshattery.  Terraria is in no way a game where people want to wait for months to get a mod that costs $5 as opposed to letting the community do it for free within weeks.  Add official DLC and charge for it, but don't make us pay for different graphics and small improvements.  First bad sign for me.

Edit 2: What I find interesting is this answer in the interview:

Quote
Are there any major game releases that you’re looking forward to?
Redigit: Skyrim and Diablo 3
Blue: Ive been looking forward to a fan created mod release actually, Black Mesa Source. But its release has been a long time coming.

Um, you won't let modders help with your game, but you're looking forward to another game's modding community endeavors?  Asshattery I say!

I like making apartment buildings like this, so that NPCs don't wander around and open the door to my storage room at night.

Hasn't happened to me yet, but can zombies and such actually do any damage to the inside of your structure?

So far I'm hooked.  I love the similarities to Minecraft, but with the added goals of getting loot from bosses, floating islands, different lands with new challenges (and not just biome scenery) and such.  If Minecraft had the same reward, item, and NPC systems of Terraria I'd go back in a heartbeat.  As it stands now, this is what Minecraft should have been in 3D.

I'm a member of the "I hate Gamestop" club, and also loathe the thought of them touching anything PC-related, but I'm also happy for Brad on such a huge sale.

I'll likely avoid Impulse if GS decides on adding a barbaric anti-piracy system or continues its long history of undermining PC gaming in any way. I certainly won't mind Steam having some real competition though, just for price wars and better sales.

I would also add "put in a few more power sets"...well, at least a strength based one.  Having a superhero game that doesn't allow you to have a character based on just pure strength is just goofy.  And yes, brawling serves many of the same purposes, but that's a skill set that still requires you to select a completely unrelated power set if you want to go the pure strength route.

One of the biggest complaints we had in beta was that this superhero game was openly advertising the ability to play using the powers of the iconics (wonder woman, superman, powergirl, doomsday, bizarro, green lantern, etc) like super strength/might...but they wouldn't be in at release. Like 50% of the DC heroes and villains are based off of might/SS in some way. Leaving it out caused me not to purchase the game.

Well that, plus as others have stated, this is like DC Universe: Street Fighter Edition. I'd like to say I'll check it out again when Super Strength and others are given the full attention they deserve, but I can just pop in Mortal Kombat vs. DC if I have a fighter fix.

Oh yeah, there's certainly a ton of options available to Notch right now. With the money he's pulling in, maybe he could hire a few of the top modders to officially help with survival mode. Battle Towers, Mo' Creatures, and others bring a whole new experience to the game.

Can't you just build one entrance in the real world, and then once you're in the nether build the exit?  I was assuming it would place the real world exit portal at terrain height at whatever x,y location you were at, no?  Then you've traveled 8x the distance when you go back to the real world.

I ended up going into the nether, randomly traveling a decent distance, building a portal, and seeing where I ended up in the normal world. I ended up loving the new area so much I built a new residence. I couldn't believe how far I ended up though with the Nether being 8 or 16:1 distance ratio. Even if you're not going to create a new place, it's great to have the portals to new biomes with their specialized items (like pumpkins in snowy biomes).

Also, once you start using mods, you'll never go back to vanilla.

The only problem I've found with this game is that I'm bored after completing my dream castle project. Of course it may just be burn out as I've played endlessly for 2 weeks (been having a ton of snow days off from teaching lately). Well worth the price of admission though! I'm going to put it aside for a bit and check in for updates from Notch, or until they update the Battle Tower mod.
34  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Need help with all the Massive Assault iterations on: August 03, 2010, 01:14:19 AM
I'm currently trying the demo for Massive Assault (via WildTangent), which is a neat little beer & pretzel turn-based strategy game. I've found other versions of this game, and was hoping someone could shed some light as to how all the following differ from one another:

Galactic Assault
Domination
Massive Assault Network 1
Massive Assault Network 2

I've done a bit of searching, and the results don't really help in determining whether these are all different games, or simply the same product with update multiplayer capabilities. Anyone have a clue?

Open to other PC game offers...

I'm also interested in strategy board games.

I'll also take $50 priority mail shipped to your door in the U.S.

Blu-Ray:

I dunno about all the complaints, but I just watched Roper's recent video on Character Creation and almost spooged in excitement.  Absolutely cannot wait for this!  Just playing with the character creator looks like it will be worth the purchase price IMHO.  (And BTW I thought CoX was pretty awesome for character creation as well).  I almost wish this was not an MMO and you could create a full team of your own heroes.  Or that they'd use the same engine for such a game.  About 30 years ago I used to write my own comics and of course I had created full teams of heroes that I would love to re-create.

You will definitely have fun with CO then, as there are many hours of creation to be had. Though they need to seriously iron out the UI. I just couldn't stand to play the actual game, heh.

On a side note, I would totally love a more up-to-date, modern age Freedom Force type of game.

I'm a bit disappointed that it seems so close to City of Heroes in look, sound & character creation; it is essentially City of Heroes on steroids. I'm still very interested in playing, however wish it had more of a unique feel.

This game is nothing like CoH aside from the character creator. As I stated elsewhere, CO plays like a typical console game, whereas CoH felt like a PC game. If they gave CoH the power customization of CO, I'd be in heaven. I prefer CoH's combat speed much more.
