I enjoyed it for the most part, but I couldn't stand some of the dialog between the characters. It's a personal thing with me, I suppose. It seemed the author tried a little too hard to make the characters sound like geeks/nerds/outcasts. Then again, that is what they were, after all. But, I did love all the references. And as soon as he mentioned the clue, I knew immediately what it must be about.

I am popping my retail holiday Black Friday cherry this year. I work for the Microsoft Store at an upscale mall around here and we will be open at midnight on Black Friday. I'm scheduled for 7am to 4pm, which is doable, I believe. Good luck for me to find parking, though. Will have to research bus pass or get a ride or something.
From what my coworkers have told me, it will be INSANE. Part of me is looking forward to it, though. I will report back if I survive...

Cherry Bomb is over, as well as The Killing Moon by Chuck Hogan.
Now listening to The Drop by Michael Connelly, but not sure what to read next.

Genetics sucks. While my Dad had a great 'stache for 30+ years, I can't grow anything down my snot runnel, so mine always looks split, not to mention the bald spot under my chin. I always hated the Hispanic kids in Jr. High that were growing moustaches at age 13.
Aesthetics are not the important point here. It's to support a good cause AND to humiliate the mustache-grower. Grow on, Mustache Grower!

Yow, the Sea Ray/Lumia 800 looks smoking hot. *photo is of N9, which is essentially the Lumia 800 running Nokia's Meego software. Still hot.

While I'm enjoying it so far, I also fear that it's something that will run out of steam after one season. Especially if they open every episode with a murder that occurred in that house. After the 23rd homicide, you'd think they'd bulldoze it.
I agree with this. But I'll still watch. Someone compared it to Lost and I sort of get that comparison.

I was in a car accident in HS that left me with a fractured orbital bone in my eye socket. I had surgery and the end result is that I have limited up and down range in my left eye. When I look straight ahead, left or right (without turning head), the eye works fine. If I try to look up or down, my vision is doubled and as a result, I usually close my left eye when doing so, or have to crane/lower my neck to eliminate the double vision.
Luckily, it is pretty much invisible when I talk to people, but I do notice if I'm sitting, for example, and I have to look up to talk to someone. I feel self conscious about this sometimes, but the reality is that no one notices but me.
Anyway, I wore a patch briefly after the car accident. I don't remember why, really, but the attention was kind of cool.
Though my issue isn't as serious, I feel I can relate a little, if only to say that I can imagine the awkwardness you feel and how much better it would be to just feel normal about your eye.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

The lead actress (not sure what she's been in before) is fantastic Friday Night Lights. She is exceptional (Connie Britton, that is). Check out that show.

Funny. I just started working 8-9 hours a day in retail, on my feet, etc. I bought some Dr. Scholl's soles to put in my boots that were the worst offenders, but they didn't do much other than make my shoes feel smaller.
When I wear my sneakers (x-trainers), I feel ok. Though once I get some more bucks, the plan is to make my yearly investment in some shoes, I think.

Yes they were. I checked the google e-book website and they state that the Nook line is fully compatible with their ebooks. I was glad I did because they are the only ones Ive found who carry one of my favorite books in ebook format. Robert McCammon's Swan Song! Its pricey but worth it.
Boy's Life > Swan Song Read it if you haven't! One of my favorite books evar!

Insider tip: if you are near a Microsoft retail store, they are running a promo where if you spend $499 or more before tax, you get a free W7 phone with Tmobile (HTC HD7 or Dell Venue) or ATT (I forget which ones), no contract required.

Yeah, waiting makes the best sense. I've worn glasses since second grade and contacts since fifth or sixth. Plus, I have some killer benefits with my new employer and should be able to take advantage of those very soon.

Finished Cold Vengeance recently as well. Also enjoyed it quite a bit. Much better than the past two novels. And, unlike the past two novels, this one ended and left me wanting MUCH MUCH MORE.
Now reading Headhunters by Jo Nesbo.

I'm finding more and more, especially when using computers, I am having a difficult time focusing on the screen. It seems if I cover one eye, it's ok, but with both, it's a bit blurry.
My wife snickered and had me try her reading glasses, which, I am sad to say, seemed to help. Trouble is, her glasses are a) for girls, and b) hers and she needs 'em.
Today I hit some local drug stores and tried some on. Since my face is quite flat and broad, I need spring loaded earpieces as well as nose pads. They seem to have plenty, but then I also need larger lenses as I have a hard time looking down without actually pivoting my head (remnants of a long gone car accident).
Anyway, is there a trick? Or do I just buy what works best? Also, I'm thinking it's time for me to go get my eyes checked anyway. I think I may wait for that, then see what the dr. says.

Mango is quite cool, especially how everything integrates so well. Look for the groups feature, the new Bing search and the extended apps. I use android and love it but, due to work, will be switching to a W7 phone in the near future.

Got my hands on the newest Pendergast book Cold Vengeance from the library and starting it right now.
Awesome. Didn't know there was a new one. Thanks for the tip! I'm now reading a book called The Terror of Living by Urban Waite.

Very strange. WinXP is installed to the machine. I shut down and tried with the XBMC boot CD and it once again shuts down when booting. When I run XBMC in safe mode, it shuts down. When I try installing XBMC Live to the computer, it shuts down.
But it boots to WinXP fine.
Hmm.
