401  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any interest in Killer 7? on: July 11, 2005, 04:50:32 PM
i have trouble with fps in consoles (been a long time pc gamer), so i tend to stay away from those.  the only other shooter i remember playing recently is re4, and it's pretty similar to that, since you don't move when you shoot, and most of the enemies are slow.

it's fairly easy when there are only one or two of them coming at you and they are walking slow, gives you a chance to find their weakspot and shoot.

but i find i'm having trouble when there are several of them close by and i have to scan to be able to see and shoot them all, but i have enough blood to heal up and it's not too often.  if you upgrade your characters enough, you get a counter move, but i haven't been able to get that to work.

mask de smith is good if you are having trouble with some of the enemies, since his grenades damage an area.  and also, try to hit them in the leg, that'll slow them down even more.

i use dan whenever i get the chance, since ive upgraded him the most.  its a good idea to upgrade everyone to at least level 2, you get a down attack (or something like that), which allows you to kill an enemy when they are crawling towards you.

i find that it is getting easier now to go through the levels, since im used to the 'gameplay' and my characters are better, and there are definitely a lot of cool and wtf moments in there.  definitely well worth going through it just to see it all.  wait till you hit the boss in 'encounter', had me laughing.

hey all...

been a long time lurker, joined a while back, but never got around to posting hey everyone...

i rented this over the w/n, and am currently on disk 2 (if you are playing this, i'd highly recommend making it to disk 2, there's a very nice reward waiting)

i'd say that all the reviews have been spot on so far, you'll either love it or hate it, and it's the presentation that makes you want keep playing.

it took a while to get used to the controls and how i moved around, but right now its second nature.  it's great not having to worry about where you are supposed to go and about the camera, but there are points when theres an enemy closeby and the control setup gets in the way if i want to get some distance from it.  if i had to sum it up, it feels like playing in a choose your own adventure books.

the presentation and style of the game is just cool, the music and the graphics are great, i love the in between mission briefings (the world map).  some enemies require a special way to kill, and the boss fights are all varied in how to defeat them.

ok, for the bad, for some reason, i have to switch the reverse the controls in the option screen everytime i started up the game, and if i hv 7 save games on a card, it gives a warning message before the game even loads, and you have to select an option to continue, and you cant fast forward through the conversations.

but overall, a really unique game that's worth a rental or a purchase when it drops in price.
