I went with my work address so I hope to have my 6 by Monday or so.  icon_smile

I installed iOS8 on my 5 yesterday. While I like most of the changes (not sure why it took 7 years to finally have a timer option on the camera  icon_razz), I am experiencing some general sluggishness. Wondering if they optimized it for the 6/6 Plus's processor and didn't spend enough time trying it on other iPhone models?

Seems ok on my 5s, but I did a fresh install instead of just upgrade route.

You'll hate it.  It's nearly 100% stealth-based...hence the name.  slywink

As a homeowner, there will always be something that "needs to be done".  That's half of the fun though!

My advice is take all your hanging clothes, and lay them flay and put a garbage bag over them to transport, instead of taking them off hangers etc.  Once you are in your new place you're gonna love it!

I did the first strike mission last night.  I had waited a bit as I didn't have enough of an open window and I've heard the strikes were long.  Well, that much is true.  Long and monotonous.  1 MacGuffin fight around a Ghost, then a long protracted battle against a walker, only to end with another boss fight against a giant eyeball.  Not exactly a highlight mission imo.

<shrugs>

I loved that mission.

I've done all the strikes but one and that one with the giant ogre and far and away the worst

I watched a stream of this a while back and have it pre-ordered on PS4.  The Nemesis system looks fun and I like the risk/reward you get with taking on orcs without preparing for it.  The open-world also looks like fun and gives a good amount of content that you can just take part in or ignore.  The fact that the game doesn't entirely wait on your every action is pretty cool.

Even with the deluge of open world games coming this fall, I'm looking forward to this one due to the setting and the changes to the usual model.

I'm in for this on day 1!

I found the first strike to be the most tedious and unenjoyable one and the rest have been much more fun.  The bosses take a crazy about of time to kill though.

I'll be buying GTA V for YellowKing's birthday, then nonchalantly focusing on the road during the drive home.  I'll put it in a closet upstairs and divert my attention towards other things, but it'll all turn out half-assed because I keep blinking furiously and wiping the sweat from my brow.  Eventually I'll go take it out again, just to make sure it's still there.

Then there will be an uncomfortable scene about a week later as YellowKing's friends and family watch him tears open some wrapping paper to reveal a half-eaten Snickers.  Their uncertain eyes will turn towards me, partially because they'll still be unclear on who I am or how I came to be in the house.  And partially because I'll be furtively wiping my brow, looking at that Snickers.

I'm still so burnout on FPS shooters that I know this isn't for me at all, not any more.

I want it to succeed very well though, for a handful of reasons (I.e. Shares owned!).

Hope you all and the rest of the world enjoy the hell out of it.  From playing the beta I do have a hard time understanding how this game cost. $500 million...

The 500 mil includes marketing and everything associated with launching a new franchise, not just paying development teams.

Wow, this is falling on a very busy gaming day.  Dragon Age and Far Cry 4.  Sorry, Rockstar, I won't be double dipping at this time. As much as I enjoyed it on the 360, I would play through again during a dry spell, like I did with Tomb Raider.

I'm thinking this is going to lose out to FC4 for me.  I will try and get it when it goes on sale eventually.

Hey Roguetad, how did you join my fire team yesterday?  Are you able to just jump in friend games?  When I saw you in-game and waved I thought that was cool, but I thought you would disappear once we got to the no respawn area.  Very cool to do some coop and clear out that dungeon.  So much more fun in a group than solo.

This brought to light the issue that has kept me from actually pulling that Android trigger: the apps.  I have a lot of 'em (I like buying games more than actually playing them, it seems).  The Android store is certainly becoming better, but they have nowhere near the level of the App Store.  Additionally, now that my kid has an iPhone, it's way more cost effective for me to continue along that trend.  Plus I have an iPad.  And no Google devices at all.

This is how they get you.

So it looks like I'll be getting the 6, though I'm decidedly underwhelmed.  If the HTC One had a better camera, the story might have been different.  I'm sure a new version will be out next spring that will change that story.  I understand AT&T will let me lease with a pretty early buy-out option...

iOS 8 Family Sharing will be even nicer:

http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

I'm going to try the AT&T Next program (which I think is what you are referring to by "lease"), though I'm not sold on it.  The way I understand it you pay only tax up front and then a monthly amount for 20 months to complete the buy.  At the 1 year mark you have the option to trade-in your current unit for the latest and greatest, or pay off the remaining 8 months to get full ownership.  What you lose by all this is the discount pricing.

I think you still get $25 off your month plan by going this route.

That right there may be one of the reasons I don't really get the thing. I am about as far removed from a "watch guy" as there probably is. I don't think I ever wore a wristwatch at all until I was in my 20s. The concept of spending more than like $100 on a thing that tells time sounds utterly insane.

I did appreciate from the article that he explained some of the things that would make it appealing if you are into watches though.

What I think will be interesting is to see if non-watch people get sucked into it for some reason or another.  Prior to the iPad I had many spirited debates about the "use case" of a tablet; a lot of people just didn't think they'd ever want one or couldn't visualize what the use cases would be.  Maybe it will take a killer app or just some unforeseen usage case, I'm looking forward to it.  As an example, today while driving to work I noticed my eye often glances naturally around my wrist level - seems like an opportunity for something cool.

Ironically, though I'd never consider myself a real "watch guy", I used to wear watches as a kid all the way through college and work until... the iPhone lol.  I pretty much stopped wearing a watch once I realized I was using the phone to check time.

I'm looking forward to hearing impressions on solo play, since that's likely how I'll be playing most of the game. I'm more interested in the story and the world than anything.

From what I've been hearing, the story is at Diablo 3 levels of crappiness, which is crappy indeed.

Yeah so far it's nothing special.

The strike from beta shows on the map from the get-go it seems, but is rank 8 now.  iirc it was 6 in beta.
