15 is the marker for a lot of enemy changes.  40, 50, and 60 are for visual/audio changes.   So with 50 I'm guessing you just had the memory bug going and had effectively been playing the game on easy mode.

Dang!  Ok well I guess I'll need to get better then.  I was really mowing down bosses, too!

Hmm everything seems more difficult since patch.  Monsters and bosses are even doing new moves I didn't see before update.

One of two things, either you had experienced the memory leak bug, or you just got insight to a gameplay altering level, though that only effects normal enemy abilities and not bosses.

Those bag men are jumping at me now before they "enrage" and they never did before.  Also doing some attack where they draw in white energy and explode.  New to me and I've killed dozens of them.

What's the insight level?  I'm around 50 I think?
Also doing the snow castle boss and he's doing a completely different set of attacks right from the get go.

I did use the resume function so my game was "on" for days at a time.

Along those lines, I think the new drop to main menu really sucks, even with the load times.  I used to be able to play in seconds on resume and now it's minutes for all the loading.

But with the substantial reduction in load screen times, it's not that big of a deal anymore.

Good point, I look forward to trying it out.

Game Informer reports the 1.03 patch to address load times has been released:

Quote from: Game Informer
From Software said it was working on a fix to hit this month, and now it's here. According to the Japanese PlayStation Blog, the patch improves the following:

  • Reduced loading times (approx. 5-15 seconds; may vary by circumstance)
  • Fixed bug that left certain lifts and elevators inoperable
  • Fixed bug that resulted in bosses becoming immobilized
  • Fixed bug that left players unable to advance NPC events during multi-play
  • When the PS4 is put into Rest Mode during online play, the game will now return to the main title screen upon resuming play
  • This will resolve matchmaking issues related to Suspend/Resume.

It reportedly also adjusted the loading screens to show item descriptions, rather than just the black and white game logo.

-Autistic Angel

Bummer about the resume to main menu thing.  It was nice to just resume and be playing within seconds.

Watching the Macrumors forums closely, it looks like particular models are the slowest to be going out, particularly those with the most popular (?) black sports band.  Mine has yet to even be charged yet so there's little hope of getting a shipment update.  I'd say there's a 50/50 chance of arriving Friday at this rate.  Frustrating but hopefully they'll work it all out.

I have the same watch ordered and my email confirmation is from 12:04 AM from the 10th and I still haven't received a shipping status.  Mine is still processing.

Still processing.  4 mins after orders started and I still missed launch day!

My main issue with prequels is that generally speaking, they're attempting to build suspense when the audience already knows how it ends. It's like, you know how Star Wars Episode III ends, and it wasn't like it was going to have a twist ending or surprise you in the end (twirling/leaping CGI Yoda or not). I'm sure Rogue One will attempt to be an interesting journey but the destination (stealing Death Star plans) seems pretty set in stone.

And really, the Death Star? Again? For a third movie essentially?

And if you remember the beginning of Star Wars, none of the Rebel forces can hit the broad side of a barn at 5 paces with a blaster anyway.  retard Though maybe the Rogue One guys actually know how to aim and lead their targets.  icon_smile

And sure, I'll watch it anyway. icon_smile I guess I'm more keen on the possible Bobba Fett and maybe even a Darth Maul spin off movie, something where they build back story for an interesting, cool-but-marginalized/underdeveloped character.

The new, standalone films will be called Star Wars Anthology.  The first movie is Rogue One and the synopsis was revealed at Star Wars Celebration this past weekend.

"A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One"

There's a piece of concept art here and a concept trailer that's kind of neat (shaky cam though)

My brain just exploded. So IN it's not even funny.

Pretty much this.  Absolutely epic.

The other thing that blew my mind was during the Episode 7 panel live broadcast, they brought out the fully functioning remote controlled BB-8 ball droid on the stage, proving that it was not a CGI creation but a working mechanical prop. I'm sure it works based on some complex magnetic system but it was a magical moment when it rolled out. I'm as jaded as any movie fan nowadays and that was an "oh wow" moment for me. JJ Abrams discussed the fact that they wanted to shoot as much of the movie as they could using practical sets and props. Sure the movie will have a ton of CG effects, but to Abrams, a lot of the magic of the original trilogy is that you felt like you were there because the world and the vehicles felt so real. Something the prequel trilogy really lacked in it's overuse of blue screen and CG everything. That aspect alone has me so excited and I have all the faith in the world that episode 7 is in very good hands.

Between Marvel and Lucasfilm, the Disney corporation has pretty much become the overlords of all of nerd-dom, and I don't even mind one bit!  icon_smile

Here's the BB-8 video.  So cool.

Buy Apple stock!

I am actually doing an analysis paper on AAPL for a finance class right now. I want to put some money into it because their numbers are great, but it seems expensive right now. That's always my problem though, I struggle with the when to enter more than anything else.

Hehe - it always seems expensive... but then it keeps going up and just gets more expensive!  I debate this with a friend of mine a few times each year, and each time he has ignored my advice.  Had he invested the first time I suggested it, he would have made a lot of money by now.  My philosophy with Apple is this: do you think it will go up even 5-10% over the next year?  If so, why not just invest in it rather than leave your money in a 0.5% (or whatever it is these days) share certificate?  If you believe in the company and its products (which he claims he does), its almost a no-brainer.

This is what I did starting in 2011.  I rode through the 2012/2013 dip and now I am in good shape.  Wish I would have put more in back then!

Spoiler for Hiden:
the big guy banging on one side of a gate.  There's a trio of crow monsters in the courtyard near him.

With a brick?  Those guys are easy to parry/visceral, I think you can get a stagger off on him too from behind then visceral attack.  The only guy early on you probably shouldn't fight is the big guy with the axe near the gate behind some boxes.

So funny.  This is the kind of thing I'm struggling to wrap my head around.  Guy banging on the gate screamed "mid-boss" to me, so I haven't tried engaging him at all yet.  Guy behind some boxes looked like "tough challenge to give a go" and I had numerous failed attempts against him.

Ok, I'll give all this stuff a try.  Thanks all for the tips.

Armored guy behind boxes is much tougher. Not really sure why he's there other than an early challenge.

You can but do not have to.  It's just a regular mob.  If you go up the stairs opposite from where you enter he will come after you.  They are to teach move and attack imo.

Do you have a limited amount of storage space on your person?  I haven't actually put anything into the bank and wondering if I need to start.

There's pretty much no reason to ever move anything to storage, other than you  don't want to scroll past so many things in your inventory when looking at armor/weapons. Game does away with weight mechanics.  Storage is really only for overflow of carryable item allotment.  They really should have auto refilled everything like they do with vials/bullets.

I'm not so sure you can have NPC helpers, most likely it was another player who joined in to help you.  Nice to get past the BSB though, that took me awhile until I used the cocktails to distract him.

Nope it was an NPC, there are some bosses that allow this as long as you talk to the friendly NPC beforehand from what I read.

As a Surface 3 owner, I am not sure their growing pains are over, but it has come a long way. It's biggest problem isn't Microsofts fault though, it's that most software doesn't support touch controls. (A Surface Pro would be my first recommendation for a Windows based laptop, it's a great little machine.)

Anyway, people following the Chinese stores last night, showed that the gold watches sold out within the first hour. Of course we have no idea on the qualities available, but it shows that Apple isn't completely nuts.

Who cares there is a gold expensive one? It's not like they are pushing it on you, it's for a certain kind of person that isn't most of us. If there is a market for that kind of thing, which I am sure they researched, then it was a good business decision.

People said the iPhone and iPad would flop. They didn't, obviously. I do think it will become like the iPad, still sell incredibly well, but not be a product everyone wants. Other companies can only dream of having an Apple flop.

If last night was any indication, the launch brought in decent numbers.

Seriously, this line of thinking is there's only 1 version and it's 10k.

Still stuck on Gascoigne, though I downed Cleric Beast first try and at this point I can clear pretty much the entirety of Central Yarnham without breaking a sweat or using any consumables (though I have to cheap-kill the werewolves, getting into a running battle with them seems to be a recipe for a quick death). I've leveled up a bunch of times but I can still barely get him to half health.

I think I need to get better at using oil+molotovs, I always hoard consumables and end up struggling through fights I really shouldn't. Otherwise I guess I'll just eventually level to the point where I can either kick his ass or soak the damage.

The charge attack of the two-handed axe works wonders.  It has a big range and will almost always hit him at least once.

Also, for those wondering what stats mean, clicking the right stick on the character screen will bring up tooltips that explain what each stat means.

I used the 2 hand axe to take him out also.  And molotovs for phase 2.

I am curious about echoes lost when you are killed. I have read that if you are killed a second time before you get your echoes back, they are gone forever. There have been a couple instances where I was on my way to retrieve some and got killed again and figured they were gone. I would then end up getting them back on another attempt after killing an enemy. Do they remain longer (indefinitely?) if picked up by an enemy?

Maybe it's the echoes that you gained while going back to pick up the original pool?  Those new echoes would make their own blood pool if you died again.
