I heard that it's taking multiple weeks because people are also sending in consoles that are not busted, in order to get a shot at the fixes internally, or maybe even a new console for nothing.

Hey all, if you download something, say a show, from Xbox Live Marketplace and then have to delete it, do you have to pay to download it again?

Yikes I just read the review at IGN for this.  I don't have a PS3, but I was wowed by the kiosk demo I saw in CC.  Too bad it's not regarded as well as the Rogue games.  Those were really fun and enjoyable, IMO.

Another photographer here.  I took lots of research pics on the PC version.  Basically everytime I saw a  bad guy, I'd snap a photo of it until it told me that research was complete.  In addition to passive bonuses, you also get some tonics from this.

Hmmm my DVD player has two digital audio outs, and one of them is definitely named Coaxial.  Other being Optical.
12529  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying in September? on: September 03, 2007, 03:57:23 PM
It's not on the list, but I'm thinking about buying Worms on XBLA.

I only have Component on my DVD player.  My DVD and stereo also have something called Coaxial?  I'm gonna buy all new wires when we move in 2 weeks.  Thanks for the help guys!

iirc, Coaxial is a form of digital audio.  It's just not the one with the neat bursts of light.

Also, even with a standard definition CRT TV, the difference from the plain yellow video to S-Video is very noticeable.  The first time I started a console after going to S-Video was a definite "Whoa" moment.

And then you'll see it again when you go from S-Video to Component (where the video is split into 3 different wires), and thus when you see Progressive Scan for the first time. And then you'll see it again when you see 1080i/p for the first time. biggrin

I jumped from S-Video to HDMI with 1080p and it was nice  nod

Sorry for the thread Necromancy, but now that I've finished Bioshock, I'm starting up Gears of War (Only had my Xbox for a month).  I had also been holding off on playing until I got an HDTV to play this on.  42" of Gears of War sure is special!

Wowie-wow!  I had never even seen this game in motion, I just had known about it since it was the big Xmas game for MS last year.  Holy hell, this is what I'm talking about.  Nothing major to add to this old discussion, just loving my journey so far!

Here's a neat, post-mortem-type interview with a couple of the team members on Bioshock.

DO NOT watch if you have not finished, as there is some spoilerish content.

that's only 6-8 bucks per hour of gameplay!

Is there some sort of recap of the story up to Halo 3 that I could download? I completed Halo so long ago and never played Halo 2, I also read about half way through one of the novels. I could really use a recap.

I think there will be a disc that has all of the cutscenes from the first two games included with the Legendary edition.  Which is unfortunate, because no way in hell am I going to buy that one.

you don't want the helmet to wear while playing?

Do I need a preorder for the collectors? The one that is better than the regular but not the stupid ass helmet game? Because I want the calibration tool and the other stuff in it-should I get on it?

I'd say yes if you want to be sure to get it .
Ok, will do this week.

With the kind of revenue MS is expecting to generate from this game, I seriously doubt that anyone will have any trouble finding any version on Halo 3.

I thought I searched everywhere and I never saw something about how McClintock was killed.  Last one I found she was joining up with Atlas and sticking it to Ryan and Co.

It's in Atlas' HQ- there is a Fontaine log of him practicing going between Atlas and Fontaine when Diane walks in on him and learns the truth.

Ah ok, I must not have put two and two together when I heard that.

Thank you!

There have been comments about how Halo2 actually had to be rushed and the fact that they ran out of time contributed to the 'ending'.
'

They had three years to work on it!  More time in fact between Halo 1 & 2 than Halo 2 & 3.

Yeah but according to the previously mentioned article, basically everything was scrapped and started over with a year to go.

Buy a Xbox 360 HD DVD Player and Get Eight HD DVD Discs Free

I'm not seeing where there's 9.  Still, I may have to see what's left over this payday and take the plunge.

For a while you used to be able to get King Kong with your 360 HD-DVD player free. If you happen to get that package from Amazon (no clue if you will at all anymore), then you get 9.

When I looked though, it was 7 free discs - 2 with your HD-DVD purchase, and 5 with mail-in.

*shrugs*

ah, I see.  Now it's 2 free plus King Kong in the box plus the 5 free.  I'd have loved to have a 3rd option off of the list.

I haven't looked again, but when I posted this, it was 5 from Toshiba's MIR, 3 from amazon's deal and 1 King Kong in the box.

I like how some games can be added to your Steam account, but that doesn't work with many non-Valve games.

Yeah like HL2 I don't even know where my discs are and I can just DL it from Steam if I ever get the urge to play smile
12557  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: A question about Steam on: August 28, 2007, 06:33:12 PM
From Steam:

NOTE:
Because the Kingdoms expansion will use core game elements from the Medieval II: Total War game, it is required that you use the same method for purchasing Kingdoms as you did in purchasing Medieval II: Total War. If you purchased Medieval II: Total War from Steam, then please use Steam to purchase Kingdoms.

>>>

Sounds to me like you won't be able to use the Steam x-pack.
12558  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: A question about Steam on: August 28, 2007, 06:28:35 PM
In my experience, steam will say whether or not the DL expansion will work with the retail game.  The Doom 3 expansion on Steam required the Steam version of Doom 3, for example.  I think some of the Dawn of War expansions downloaded from Steam would work with the retail DoW, though.  Let me see if I can find it.

New deal I just saw on CAG.  3 free movies from amazon, including the 5 from Toshiba's mail-in-rebate.  Could be 9 free movies if King Kong is in the box.

EDIT:  According to the amazon.com listing, King Kong is included.  That's 9 free movies.
