12001  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Netflix or Blockbuster for Blu-Ray? on: January 05, 2008, 04:40:05 PM
Netflix is great.  I'm not sure about their Blu-Ray service, but I've been using Netflix for a few years and I always get movies the second day after I mail one back.

That lawsuit sounds like WoW players to me.  Everytime there was 1 hour of downtime their forums would get all lawsuit happy.

I tried to play a little bit late last night after work and I couldn't get into a COD4 game.  I tried Halo 3 for shits and giggles and it didn't work either.

Let that PS3 price drop some more then.  Then I can pick one up as a blu-ray player and any games that may come out as PS3 exclusives.

Another +1 for REmake.  I played the OG RE on the Playstation and the REmake was still well worth playing again.  RE0 is good, too.

Too bad COD doesn't have those sales numbers.  It's at least 8.1 million times better than Halo 3...and I liked Halo 3.

I tried it.  The controls were really clunky.  Destructible environments were neat.  That's about it.

I'm curious, what aspect of the controls did you find clunky?  The only thing I don't like about it is clicking the left stick to run/slow-walk, but you do that rarely enough that I don't mind too much.  It seemed like a very adequate and responsive control scheme for a 3rd person shooter.

I didn't try to mess with them at all, but I found the aiming/looking to be really slow and unresponsive and the camera seemed to always be chugging on something.

I'm loving that there's gonna be 10 feet of snow in Tahoe though.  Just sucks that it has to be miserably stormy at home for it to be so nice there.

Of the three of them I'll take Obama anyway.

I'm just curious: aside from being "the candidate of hope" and all that, what specifically does anyone find appealing about him?  As I've mentioned before, he's my senator (and I did vote for him), but I haven't even been happy with what he's done (which is pretty much zero) as my senator.  And I do pay attention to this stuff.

Sure, he didn't vote for the war, but he didn't vote against it either.  The whole whole "anti-war" cred he is pushing is just a big sham.

Isn't it a given that all politicians are big ass liars?

I've just been sticking to the G36C and I still love it.  I did pick up a M60 with a red dot the other day and I was surprised how good it was, as well.  k/d still climbing.  I think I'm at 1.17 now.

It's a new start.  They are going to pretend the first movie never happened... which is probably for the best.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's a sequel with an entirely new creative team, cast, and crew.

I wasn't sold on this until that new trailer came out.  I'm expecting another gem from Pixar.  Their only movie I haven't enjoyed is Cars.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm real late to the party.  I just watched this last night in HD and I freakin' loved it.  I was a big fan on the turtles from the comics back in the day.  This was more modern and fam friendly, but the art and animation were outstanding.  A+, two thumbs up from me.

wow, here's the beginning of a review on Ain't It Cool News:

Quote
Remember Alien?

You know, that sci-fi flick where that spider thing grabs onto the guys face, and then later this thing bursts out of his chest and runs off? And you never really saw the alien, and the tension just kept building and building till the end?

And remember Predator? That kick-ass action movie with Arnold, the guy who played Apollo in Rocky, and Jesse The Body Ventura with the coolest gun EVER? And they were being hunted by this thing in the jungle that could make itself invisible and shot a laser cannon, and left skinned bodies hanging everywhere?

Yeah, those movies were awesome. I'm sure all you guys remember them.

The Strause Brothers, however, apparently have no fucking clue what I'm talking about. Which is pretty unfortunate since they were SUPPOSED to be directing Alien vs Predator: Requiem . . . turns out they were raping everyone in the theatre, taking their money, and stomping on babies as they ran away before the credits rolled. That's about what this movie felt like . . . watching babies getting stomped on. It's a horrible mess that you can't look away from, can do nothing about, and you know in your heart is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

The first of the two reviews there wasn't as scathing.  Man why can't the studios actually put some effort into this series and make a kick ass movie that people will like?
