Also, is there some trick for quickly going to the DLC songs, other than scrolling down to the bottom?

EDIT: I also found that loading a profile takes a long time now.  Is that something that can be optimized at some point?  We're only a couple months into DLC and I know I'll be buying more.
11682  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Rock Band Impressions! on: February 24, 2008, 05:58:34 PM
I just finished the solo tour for drums on Easy and man oh man, what fun.  The set list was short though, I guess the higher levels have more to the set list.  Not to mention the 700 MB of DLC I bought slywink

I didn't think that another instrument would be as fun as the guitar, but I am a total drum convert now....what a blast.  Bravo Harmonix!!

COD4.  I wasn't even going to buy this until the forum effect.  Man what a sweet SP and MP game that was.

GH/RB - I had never tried them until GH3.  I was instantly hooked on my first song on easy.

gotta go with the auger.  Nothing in gaming like seeing some fat old grandmother spinning at 300rpm's and mowing down other zombies with her slowly shredding torso.

Did I say that?!  Man, that's just wrong.

Wait. Where does one get the auger?  The hardware store? I've never used it...

Yeah....when your 360 comes back, go straight there and see this in action!

For guitar you can trigger star power at any time by tilting the guitar upright, provided you have enough energy to trigger.

According to a couple news sites, Still Alive by GLaDOS was confirmed at the Valve party last night as being playable in Rock Band.  LOL sweet.

EDIT:  Question guys, I tried to use my RB guitar with GH2 and it didn't work...I thought that problem was PS3 only?

No worries.  I don't think we need to doubt the production values.

I hear everything is going to be cel shaded anime style  icon_wink

Not that I would want that for gears of war, but I think it sucks that they ever made another zelda game that wasn't cell shaded.

Make no mistake, Call of Duty 4 players: Infinity Ward is listening.

If you need evidence, you need look no further than the slew of updates and changes that are coming to the game in the coming months, which we talked with IW community relations manager Robert Bowling about today at GDC.

The first in the pipeline is a feature patch that's just been sent to Microsoft for Xbox 360 certification and will soon go to the PS3 for certification.

Arguably the most important new addition is host migration. In short, if a host leaves a game, all players stay together, a suitable replacement is chosen and the game begins anew. Though the game doesn't continue uninterrupted, it should help to keep a host departure from being so jarring.

From a gameplay perspective, the patch will improved sniper rifle accuracy, as well as the accuracy on the ACOG scope.

The sniper fix (as well as the host migration feature, for that matter) was born of direct feedback from the community, according to Bowling.

The same can be said of the other features like an expanded Kill Cam with all weapons, including claymores, airstrikes and grenades, getting the feature.

Also, expect nine new spawn points in every map, a quick mute feature and an improved spectator cam that allows a first-person view as well as being fully rotatable in 3rd person.

Though the changes are numerous, Bowling said he doesn't expect it to be the last such update, especially if fans remain vocal.

"We never assume that we're done, we never pat ourselves on the back, wipe our hands and assume that we're finished."

There's no tape or anything on my drum pads.  Just fresh out of the box.  I think I'm going to initiate the RMA process.  These drums have been infuriating.  Sadly, I don't know anyone who has RB in person that I can try their drums and see.

You don't happen to live in Ft. Lauderdale, do you?  I am on my way there now.  Before doing the RMA, use that method I said where you pick a song with a long intro that doesn't have drums in it.  It will allow you to free play.  Test each pad and see how responsive it is.

Nah, I live in the Bay Area in CA.

Ok back to drums after a fun day on guitar.  I've calibrated and re-calibrated the game 20 times.  No matter what I do the guitar stays good, but the drums never improve.  I'm going to go on record and say that for me, the drums are so brutally unforgiving (on easy, even), it removes any fun at all.

What model TV do you have?

I have a Philips LCD, it was brand new in August.  I don't recall the model number, I got it from Costco.

There's no tape or anything on my drum pads.  Just fresh out of the box.  I think I'm going to initiate the RMA process.  These drums have been infuriating.  Sadly, I don't know anyone who has RB in person that I can try their drums and see.

Oh and Chaz: please ask for Metallica's Harvester of Sorrow....I heard it again after like 10 years and it would be so awesome for Rock Band!!!   drool

I would say maybe your drums are broken, but even when mine were, I could get through songs on Expert.  I am not sure how they would be unforgiving.  Can you elaborate on how you might feel you are missing.  Did you try the tutorial?  Can you get through that?

This was my thought as well.  You've obviously got at least a little rhythm if you can play the guitar, so there must be something else causing the problem.  I make everyone who plays at my house go through the tutorial, and even my 63-year-old parents with zero musical ability can hammer out some of the easy stuff.  There has to be something else going on with your drum set.

On a side note, it is now my life's goal to beat at least 5 of The Grue's leaderboard scores.  Dude, some of the points you rack up are insane.

Yeah I did both of the drum training sessions before I started playing the solo tour, because I've never played the drums before in any capacity.  What I feel like is happening, is that notes that I am hitting are missing a lot of the time.  I've been able to 5 star some songs, I don't really get to a point where I'm failing a song, but like you guys I want to get better scores.  When you miss every 10th note, it sucks for stringing together multipliers.  From the tiers that I've seen on easy so far, the beats are not at all difficult.  It just doesn't make sense to me how sometimes the game registers I am hitting the pad, and the other half of the time it doesn't.

EDIT:  Oh and by unforgiving, I mean that there's like a single millisecond where you can hit the drum pad ESP on double notes, otherwise you register as a miss.
