Anyone find this demo somewhere besides BT or Vile Planet?

It's also up on Steam.

The nVidia drivers promised today are out.  They're BETAs.  I was hoping to not have BETA drivers to try, maybe I'll give the game a shot before installing these.  I have a core 2 duo, 2 GB RAM,  and an 8800 GTS, so maybe it'll be fast enough as is.

Bioshock via Steam for me!  Already purchased, I'm just waiting for the green light.  ninja

Yeah I'm sure it's some silly reason.  Oh well, I'll be clicking away come 1 PM to get it authorized and getting my ass in Rapture!
11686  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bioshock available for pre-order/load on Steam; Demo Friday @ Fileshack on: August 20, 2007, 02:54:12 PM
I am a little upset that Steam is not "unlocking" the game until 1 PM PST tomorrow.  Why can't they just allow use at 12:01 AM?
11687  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Most recent game music that can get stuck in your head? on: August 17, 2007, 02:46:32 PM
I've been watching that Halo 3 announcement trailer a lot as of late and the music from Halo is stuck in my head.

Pre-loaded smile  This is something I have to play on my PC!

I have one of the new Premiums with HDMI and it's been great so far.  I was hoping for the 65nm chips, but from what I've read the addition of a second heat-sink should be more than enough to keep me going.  With a 3 year warranty though, I'm not too worried about it even if it does crap out.
11690  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360]Bioshock on: August 15, 2007, 03:35:51 PM
Finished the demo last night, loved it.  Such a great location for a game!

Hi guys, I ended up going with the Philips  42PFL7422D/37 from Costco.  42" w/ 1080p.  I have a new 360 Premium with the HDMI connection and it's A-mazing!

Thanks guys, I was mostly worried about game updates.  I take it these are "Xbox patches"?
11694  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox Live Noob on: August 14, 2007, 02:24:22 PM
Hi all, I am a new to the whole Xbox live scene and I have some questions for anyone who's got a moment.  I started playing with an offline profile (Kevin) which was obviously taken when I tried to sign up to live.  So I used my forum account to browse the Marketplace and stuff.  I only have a silver membership, not really intersted in multi-player at the moment.

Any way, I had been signed into the XBL account when I started a game and I noticed that it said "update available" and I downloaded it.  My question is: do these updates carry over for all user accounts on that Xbox?  Or, are they only applied to the XBL user account?

Also, can you transfer save game data between profiles?

Thanks much!!
11695  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360]Bioshock on: August 14, 2007, 01:33:36 PM
I played a little bit of the demo last night and all I can say is that it has atmosphere to spare!  Very cool so far.  I love the retro theme!  thumbsup
11696  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: HDTV recommendations for console gaming on: August 13, 2007, 08:18:22 PM
I have a question about the resolution, if the games only support 720p but the TV is 1080p native, will they look blurry like when you play a resolution on an LCD monitor that is not the native res?
11697  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: HDTV recommendations for console gaming on: August 13, 2007, 07:11:32 PM
Zimix, do you have a Vizio?  Their prices really grabbed my attention, but I got worried if it was too budget.  I don't know anyone in person who has a Vizio so I haven't been able to ask.
11698  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HDTV recommendations for console gaming on: August 13, 2007, 06:36:30 PM
Hi all, sorry if this is not in the right forum.  I am looking for recommendations for an HDTV for use, amongst other things, with an Xbox 360.  I am looking for something in the 40 - 42" range LCD TV.  What I am not clear on is if I need full 1080p or will 720p be ok.  There's a lot of brands I am also not familiar with.  Does anyone have any glowing recommendations for a TV?  I saw some great prices at Costco, but I am nervous to make a plunge without some prodding slywink

Thanks much!

Been having some pvp fun in this patch.  Lots of people turning out to try and get some goodies.  My build sucks all to hell though...I had one picked out based on the latest Beta push and the Rogue talent trees released to retail were a little bit different.  Still a nice shot in the arm while waiting for the xpack to come out.

Yeah WTF was with that?

I think I'm going to respec to a more PVP viable build, especially with all the cool loot to earn.

Combat Swords ain't gonna cut it.

gellar

Yeah I have 40 points in combat right now, but it's ugly as hell.  I don't like my filler one bit.  I'll be looking forward to the final talent tree changes, so I can nail down something good for leveling in the xpack.

Seems that the patch is an old build.  I saw a couple things last night that were very old on the beta servers, but were released on this live patch.  I wasn't able to login until later, so I missed a lot of the patch day madness.  I hear Arenas (yeah skirmish only) are not working?

Yeah it asked me what's 10 plus 5, by the time it processed my answer, it said sold out.

Awesome movie, I really enjoyed this one!  I had my doubts about Daniel Craig when it was announced that he would be Bond, but those are put to rest for good now.  Also, Eva Green is smoking hot in this movie.

YES I CAN FINALLY AFFORD A 360!!!

I'm so going to be sitting at my computer, refreshing it all day. With multiple CCs on hand...

If you want a chance, you probably need one of those "One Step" purchasing accounts set up so that you don't need to waste time entering in your CC number.

According to Amazon, these sales are going to work a bit differently.  Check their "Buying Tips" page for more info:

I understand that this is a very serious concern for you folks. Rest assured that we are actively investigating the reports of a duping exploit. There is currently no legitimate evidence of duping taking place at this time or in the recent past. This does not mean that we have concluded that no such exploit occurred, however; we are still actively pursuing all leads. I must also apologize for not speaking with you about this before now. We were away, and this issue sprang up in our absence. You should have received communication about our stance and the actions we were taking earlier than this. I have a 6600Gt and after tweaking the command line to display in 1280x1024, it looks great!

I have everything at medium, except Textures and Filtering at hight and shadows off.  Sound is also at high and it now runs smooth as butter.

You can remap controls, just if there is a conflict with another action, you must first clear that action before you map the new one.  I can't imagine this will stay around for long though.  Not a very user friendly system.

One thing I noticed though, is that even after I remapped crouch to C, I still had to press L-CTRL to crouch in a tank gunner spot.  Think that might be a bug though.
11720  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Battlefield 2 Demo on: June 11, 2005, 10:15:43 PM
Big fan of 1942, Vietnam was no good, and this one so far is no good.

While there are some neat gameplay additions, the performance is SO bad, that I can't believe it.  1942 played like a dream when it came out.  This one is so sluggish and choppy that it's no fun.  Oh and it takes like 10 mins to load a game in the beginning...anyone else see that?

I have a decent system, too.  2.6G P4, 1 GB pc3200, 6600 GT AGP, and it just chops all over.  I don't know what they did, I can't even run it in anything higher than 1024x768.  My LCD native is 1280, so to top it all off, it doesn't look very nice either.

I can only hope that retail is MUCH different, or this is a pass.

EDIT: to add, I did install the drivers that came with it.  No diff, except for that blocky shadows issue.
