Where do you see that you're a Paragon?

Start > Squad.  You can see bars that are colored depending on how far into each one you are.

Ok guys really noob question here; if I take the default appearance of Shepard am I stuck as a soldier?  Do I get to change that somewhere else?  Or do I have to create an entirely new avatar to change what class I want to be?

Select to customize your character and when you get to the appearance section you will have the option of taking the Shepherd face or making your own.

Thanks, Kevin.

Just played some of the trial version, the game looks very nice.  I am a total sucker for underwater stuff and this definitely fits the bill.  It's like Geometry Wars, but with a scuba theme.  I think I might pick this up!

I loved the game.  What a cinematic experience.  I'll play through again.

I belive the chase is part of the assassination. Infact, the entire city goes on 'alert' once you've killed your target, as guards who see you from pretty far away give chase.

Yeah once you assassinate someone the city alert sounds and even if you get stealthy, you are still under red alert until you get back to the bureau.

Right, but that just means you get noticed that much easier.  In the scenario above, the guards were on me like flies on shit the moment I did the hit and it was about the most secluded place I could find.  It wasn't clear to me if fleeing at top speed or fighting my way out of the hospital was mandated or because I had somehow botched the assassination.

Yeah I'm under the impression that it's just part of the assassination.  I'm 6 assassinations in and every one has become a chase after I make with the killing.

EDIT:  I've been doing all my assassinations as stealth, if I mess up I die and start it over.

The nice thing about the AK with the silencer is the iron sights view is far less intrusive than some of the other assault rifles and the damage on it is good. It's a much better choice for a silenced assault rifle than the M4 which is the choice I see most often.

This is what bothers me about the m14.  I would MUCH rather be able to use the m14 with silencer than the g3, but it's simply not practical for me since I can't use the m14's iron sights and have no problem with the g3.

I'd love to use the M4 but it's so damn weak!  I'm looking forward to the assault rifle at 38 (maybe 37?)...you guys have any thoughts on that one?

Oh, and for the XBLA peoples, three announcements.  Halo 3 map pack on 12/11 (just post-return-of-t3h-ATB) for 800 points, Undertow this Wednesday for 800 points, and a nice sale on XBLA games for residents of the US of A - 50% on games from 11/21 through 11/26.

Gamerscoreblog:

Quote
First and foremost, we have just announced that there were be a Halo 3 map pack releasing on December 11th. From the media alert:

Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, each map presents a totally different play style. Standoff’s symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while Rat’s Nest’s vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the “Halo” multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally, Foundry is the ultimate Forge map – players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of.

And coming out this Wednesday on Xbox LIVE Arcade is Undertow.

"Undertow" redefines aquatic based shooters through a mix of high-definition graphics, intuitive controls and multiple modes of game play action. "Undertow" features a story driven single player campaign, on and offline co-op, and multiplayer for up to 16 players over Xbox LIVE. Players battle for control of the oceans as one of three selectable races, each with four unique, upgradeable units. "Undertow" will be available worldwide this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E10+.

Speaking of holiday sales, MSN Games is running a sale later this week. From the media alert:

Been 55 for 3 days, finished the entirety of the first 3 prestige classes (except one that is bugged), and am +2000 kills. You need to play more dude smile I think my K/D is about 1.65, but I have to do the math myself so you never know.

PC version for me though. I still prefer the M4 to the AK-greatly, but the MP5 is probably my all around favorite weapon. I have a bunch of crazy combos I do, but usually I do my MP5 and some variation of primary perk. The M4, due to the extremely weak damage per bullet, can definitely be tricky to use though-I recommend it with stopping power or double tap (a perk you likely don't have yet) or maybe even sleight of hand. You need to maximize the amount of damage you can do.

Yeah yeah! I unlocked double tap either last night or night before. Explain it pleas.  Why do I need my gun to fire faster?  It's already an automatic weapon....

Also, I heard people talking about 'grips' last night. What do they do and when do you get them?

Faster rate of fire = more bullets = people die faster if you don't headshot them.  You can really see the difference with this on the M16, since it shoots in 3 bullet bursts.  If you miss that first burst, with double tap you can get another one off super fast.

Grips are only for some weapons, iirc the shotties and large machine guns.  It helps with recoil so when you shoot it does not aim straight up from kick-back.

i've always made sure to do all the investigations first, but that would make sense.  once you go to the bureau for permission, you're essentially saying that you have all the necessary information to carry out your task.  from that point, you only goal is to kill your mark and escape.

Yeah that ended up being it.  I am worried I just screwed myself on an achievement now.

I like it so far, but have a question.
I'm heading to the tower after the first botched assassination attempt.
Along the way, some of the characters have a "glow" around them.
What does that mean?

The glow has something to do with the type of NPC it is.  In the training session it tells you what white means, vs blue, red, or yellow.   I honestly can't remember now frown

I finished Jerusalem (2nd kill) last night and was heading to Acre before calling it a night. I was like "screw the speed limit" so I just galloped full tilt from waypoint to waypoint purposefully reigning chaos on civilians and just killing any guards around when I stopped to do the waypoint. Not exactly stealthily keeping the Creed a secret, but quite a bit of fun! smile

About the guards in the Kingdom...is that why they attack you; because you are not using the blend button when on the horse?  I wondered why when I first went in there they attacked me on sight.

if you move past them on horseback at any pace faster than your blend pace they'll come after you.  it's profiling I tell you!

My single gripe thus far is the fact that you can't lean around corners, it would be a useful feature in so many situations, no idea why it wasn't implemented.

That would probably break the game.  The game is designed to force you to reach checkpoints or face infinite enemies.  But a cover system encourages camping.  I don't think infinite respawns + camping work well together.  I also wish they had finite spawn and a cover system like Vegas.

It took me a bit to figure that out, that they will just keep sending enemies at you until you move.  I don't really like that either.
