TV was 1400 when I got it August of last year.

The Onkyo 605 was on sale at Circuit City when I bought cost me 399.99 + tax

The speakers and sub with associated cabling were $516 total

so minus the TV it was about $1k for the audio.  Again it was only 2 fronts and a sub (and receiver).  For my small room it fits perfect.  I think anything more would have been overkill.  One day when I have a bigger living room area, I hope to just add a center and two surrounds, but keep using the rest of my stuff.

There is reportedly some infighting between Marvel and Norton on how to cut the final version of the movie.  That doesn't sound good at all.

Yeah I read that too....I thought the whole deal with Marvel taking over Ironman and the Hulk was so they could have their vision of these movies.

I wanted to update with my purchases....I went with the Onkyo 605 and I got a pair of Level Two Fronts and a Level Two Sub from  These were added to my 42" Phillips 1080p from Costco.  I'm in nerd heaven these days.

I've had my eye on their site for quite some time and I am not disappointed in the sound.  My living room area is not that big so I decided to just get a pair of speakers instead of trying to get surround sound.

I've gone back and played some games that I had gone through without a good sound system and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long.

The 360 and PS3 (DVD) are running through the system and everything sounds so awesome.  It's great having bass to your gun fights now!!

11568  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Lost Planet: Colonies Announced...basically a remake on: March 13, 2008, 03:14:14 PM

$30, remake of the first game with some added stuff.

From VE3d:

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition is in development for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft as well as a version for Windows-based PCs that will support Games for Windows – LIVE. Scheduled for Platinum Hits release this June in North America, Lost Planet Colonies Edition extends the acclaimed Lost Planet experience by delivering fresh new content and gameplay options, as well as online cross-platform play between both the Xbox 360 and Windows-based PCs using Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows - LIVE. Both SKUs of the game will offer excellent value, with the Xbox 360 version achieving Platinum Hits status. Lost Planet Colonies Edition is rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and will be released on both Windows PCs and Xbox 360 on May 27 for the Platinum Hits value price of $29.99.

Lost Planet Colonies Edition provides the same compelling single player experience found in the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, with the addition of three new modes. In Score Attack, all enemies have points assigned to them and the score awarded will change depending on how they are defeated, with skilled marksmen being rewarded. For those who thrive on a challenge, Trial Battle Mode delivers, pitting players against all of the game’s bosses, one after another. Players of both Score Attack and Trial Battle modes will be able to compare their skills and compete for bragging rights via the online ranking system. Finally things get a little crazy with Off Limit Mode which lets players take on Lost Planet’s harsh environments and enemies with over-the-top, super-charged weapons and a powered-up grappling hook.

Fans of multiplayer action will not be disappointed as Lost Planet Colonies Edition allows them to enjoy a host of new maps, characters, weapons and gameplay modes. Players turn poacher as they attempt to steal opponents’ alien Akrid eggs in a number of individual and team play modes, while the addition of VS Annihilator Mode assigns one robotic Vital Suit to each team, which must be defended at all cost. Lost Planet Colonies Edition also includes the feature that Lost Planet fans across the globe have been clamoring for – the ability to play as a gigantic marauding Akrid. Revel in the chance to turn the tables on the Snow Pirates as you assume the role of one of E.D.E.N. III’s indigenous creatures in Akrid Hunting mode.

All of these modes can be played across a total of 20 diverse maps, including a number of brand-new multiplayer arenas set in areas such as the confines of an ancient coliseum or the zero gravity of space. For the first time, Xbox 360 owners will be able to join up with or play against Windows-based PC gamers, thanks to Lost Planet Colonies Edition’s cross-platform compatibility.

Release Date: May 27 2008
Genre: Action Shooter
Platform: Xbox 360, Games for Windows - LIVE

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition provides explosive action for both online and offline players. Secondly, about the M-16; I personally think it is one of the more difficult weapons to use, because if you don't aim just right your burst hits them in a non-lethal spot and they just turn and kill you.  I used the M-16 exclusively until I got the G63C (may have mixed the name there) and I like having the auto matic more for my spray and pray sessions.

Regardless of where the ideas were stolen from, I watched the movie and thought it was great.  Love some of the zerg units and the animations look great.  Big battles are a total mess, but maybe it's supposed to be that way.

I am curious how far Blizzard will take the A.I. as far as smart auto-targetting goes.  Will a player be able to drag select 50 different units and hit 'A', click on an area where the bad guys are, and have each unit type smart-target their best rock-paper-scissor opponent, or will they intentionally leave it to the micro-manager to handle all those duties?

Do we know yet if special powers will all be auto-castable with some semblance of intelligence, or will they intentially leave that stuff out so the micro-manager can flex his e-peen cause of his mad micro-skillz?

I was always under the impression that Starcraft was more for the e-peen flexers with regards to micro management.

From Kotaku:

Take-Two Interactive announced today that BioShock 2 was officially in the works, under the development wing of the recently formed 2K Marin. The sequel to the Xbox 360 and PC shooter is planned for a fourth-quarter fiscal 2009 release date. Take-Two's fiscal year matches the calendar year, so expect it to hit unspecified platforms before the '09 holidays.

Take-Two also noted that the original BioShock has 2 million unit sales under its belt since its August '07 release.

Sounds very cool... I've always wanted a Cold War-era spy RPG, and this sounds like the next best thing, assuming Obsidian can pull it off.

I just wish Monolith would go back to No One Lives Forever.

Yeah,  I can't say that I thought either Condemned or FEAR held a candle to NOLF series, AVP 2, or Tron 2.0.  I don't know if they lost some key talent along the way but while their core game mechanics are still solid they seem to have lost a lot of the inventive level design and great writing that characterized so much of their output.

Man I really liked AVP2!

The rock band forums are depressing to read. Every other thread is people whining about the crappiness of the DLC.

That's something I just dont' understand. We could have DLC at the frequency of Guitar Hero. That would suck. Or we could have no DLC whatsoever. That would be horrible. Even if I don't like every song in the game, I just don't see the point in complaining.

Because people are douches and so miserable with their lives that they must complain about anything.  I mean here's a game that has blown away all previous standards for DLC and they still bitch.  It's like WoW!!!
