Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [XBOX]Chronicles of Riddick Question

Ok got past that last night, I was wondering how that was going to be explained.
On a related note, I know the Riddick character is so cheesy, but I love the dead-pan delivery. I'm still trying to learn the controls, but it's been fun so far.

Hey all, just got this at BB for $15 and I have some questions.
I have been trying to use the eye shine ability and it never turns on. Do I have to wait until later to use it?
Also, what does it mean when you hear the heart beat noise?

Anyone take a look at the director's cut? I was thinking of picking that up and wondering if the extra scenes/restored subplot/violence add anything to the movie or if it's better off without them. I think that's the one that I watched, but I never saw it before, so I can't tell what was added.

So here I'm gone for two weekends in a row and the Bengals win. Then I'm gone for half of Sunday and the Bengals are winning...but then I get home and they lose. DAMMIT!

So I just watched this last night and I enjoyed it. Sure there was chees galore, but damn the special effects were cool and there was some great action sequences too. I'll never understand why these fun movies get bashed, they deliver on what they promise: two hours of eye candy. Did any one else enjoy this one?

On the other hand, I can't see why most people think this game is the second coming. I feel pretty let down.
The whole scenario and story of the first one was amazing. I loved the Black Mesa backdrop. The whole what's going to happen next. The great scripted sequences. Marines coming to rescue you...wait NO, coming to kill you! It was all great.
So far HL2 has not had any of that. City 17 does nothing for me. Sure it looks nice, but so what?
Where are the cool scenes? In the first HL, there was a scene right after the accident where you watched a laser tear through a room and cut through a dead scientist on the floor. That just blew me away. I haven't seen anything in HL2 (so far) to give me that feeling.
Maybe I got caught up in the hype on this one. I have a feeling that if this game wasn't titled Half-Life, then it would just get lost in the shuffle of FPSs.
Just my opinion though, here's to hoping that I like it as I progress.
P.S. Water Hazard....waaaay too long of a level. I'd rather be on foot.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Metroid Prime 2 Echoes?
|

Metriod Prime is meant to be played slowly. You get MUCH more out of the game by scanning all the objects and allow yourself to absorb the atmosphere the game creates.
If you try to hurry through it. You not only miss all the cool details but you will miss secrets and hidden areas. Thus, the puzzles will become frustrating and the bosses will be difficult. You won't have the top-notch powerups from the hidden areas.
I'm a slow gamer in general. I love detail. So, the first MP cube game was perfect for me. And it wasn't difficult. I will be picking up the second one soon. I think this is what I liked best about the first one. I really felt like a bounty hunter alone on a dead world. When you think about it who would Samus talk to? She is alone...the game did a great job of making me feel that. Even better is that they recreated the Metroid experience in a FPS. Sadly, I just don't have enough time to play all of these games. I hope to get to this one eventually.

I don't know what's going one, where I am, or what year it is, let alone who the Gman is and I feel like I'm just going through the motions. Hopefully it picks up for me as I go along. Don't know who the Gman is? Are you sure you played HL1? You can figure out what's going on by paying attention in the first 15 minutes. Talk to people, listen to the propaganda videos, etc. I thought I was. I always take my time in games, just I really drop the ball on this one? **POSSIBLE SPOILERS** I figure there's a resistance and some how I've found it, but what's happened to the world? Why is Freeman there? Did they explain that and I just totally blew it?

Install took a long time, but it worked without incident. I've played about two hours and while it's fun, it's not hooking me like HL1 did, or Doom 3 for that matter. I was more in awe of D3 than this one. I don't know what's going one, where I am, or what year it is, let alone who the Gman is and I feel like I'm just going through the motions. Hopefully it picks up for me as I go along. There have been some neat HL1 nostalgia moments IMHO.

My anger is slowly dying. I am getting there, but man is it slow.
I will decide soon how pissed to be.
I got a message that my cd-key couldn't be verified or some such because the servers are too busy, but that I could still play Half-Life 2 retail....now it is unlocking the files. If that is true and I can still play I will be fine but if I can't play I think it goes back. VERY glad to hear it, farley. Please guys, i'm not saying don't vent, I know I'd be pissed as hell too if I couldn't play, but what I am saying is that once you get connected ONCE... you're done. you're authenticated, and then it's go time. And to those who haven't been able to get authenticated yet... trust me... IT'S WORTH THE WAIT. The game is truly awesome. I've read that you need to be connected to Steam every time you play...are you saying that you don't?

Well I have Steam installed already, I did that last night just to be safe. I hope the authentication servers are not down when I get home in two hours, but it certainly looks like that will be the case. Well that sucks...I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Hey guys, the work day is almost over here is California. Are people still having trouble with authentication? Is there a chance that I'll be able to play this game tonight?
Also, with 5 discs, how long is the damn install?

Glad I'm not the only one who's worried. The following games are all ones that I want to get:
Halo 2 HL2 PoP:WW Metroid Prime 2
...and I just bought Tribes Vengeance and Warhammer 40K and need to finish Doom 3 still. This is insane!
