Or a flashy drummer who can keep time, but is just too damn busy...  those types need to be locked in a room with nothing but AC/DC for a month.

Yeah, it seemed like Brokaw was having a hard time keeping it together.

I just finished this in SP.

Holy crap was the final 'scene' frustrating and dumb...  I hate it when games feel like they need to totally change up the game at the end to make it interesting... I must've tried it 20 times before I made it through the helicopter part.  I would've enjoyed a huge pitched battle, WITH my team, so, so much more.  Having a team is a large part of what makes a game like this interesting and fun, and this game took them away way, way too much.

I still enjoyed the game overall, but it was a far cry from the previous title, which remains one of my favorites.
3486  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How the hell do you promote a website? on: June 13, 2008, 07:06:23 PM
It's getting better...

Couple suggestions...

On that main section that lists everything, try applying the style to the table row instead of to the table cell for that single line border... the spacer TD you have in there looks a little weird.  If you really want a box around each TD, have a separate class for each TD so that it doesn't have a rounded left corner on each of them.

I'd also add some padding to all of your tables, because things look a bit cramped, especially those left side boxes.

Finally, I'd decrease the size of the font a couple of points.

Use whatever layout works, but use CSS to style things instead of HTML... nothing uglier than an HTML table border, but CSS borders can be really nice and effective.

Yep. 'A band is only as good as its drummer.'
3490  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: I need a drummer! on: June 12, 2008, 10:43:16 PM
Yeah, finding a good drummer is the single hardest thing to do when forming a band... well, next to writing good songs...  That's why good drummers always have 5 bands. smile
3491  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: I need a drummer! on: June 12, 2008, 09:44:10 PM
Go to shows for music that you like and start meeting people... once you meet them mention you are looking for a drummer... they probably have several sleeping in their garage, in a closet in their basement, or with their sister.

Also... Joey... man... you start a new band and don't let me know? Sheesh.

Arial seems to the new kind of 'standard' non-retarded font... I like it.  Verdana is also a decent choice.
3493  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How the hell do you promote a website? on: June 12, 2008, 07:32:30 PM
Don't underestimate presentation... not in getting people to your website, but in getting them to stay, and getting them to come back...

In a nutshell, what I'm saying is this: Don't let any Times New Roman appear on your site. Anywhere.

No, it was a blizzard... those cameras just didn't catch it very well... it was already fading.  Yesterday it was 80.

Two years ago we were without power at just about the same date in June after getting a massive snowstorm...

Walnuts are an abomination.  Unless they are in baclava, which I suspect is good in spite of the walnuts.  Why anyone likes them, I don't know... I also have the added bonus of an allergic reaction to them which leaves my mouth sore and itchy.

Thanks for the info.
3501  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / James Ellroy on: June 10, 2008, 05:07:37 PM
I was watching LA Confidential again last night, and enjoying it even more than the last time, and got to thinking I should check out the book...

I saw some sort of passing reference to an 'LA Trilogy'... is there some sort of order I should read any of the books in, and would any of his fans rank the books in a specific order?  I really like the setting, so that would also weight what I wanted to read if some of his stuff is set outside of the 40s - 60s sort of era...

Because if that's the case they might have just as well made this a one character jack-of-all-trades game, and that would really suck.

Think about this statement.  It's ridiculous.
3504  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Can Someone Explain how to make this stop on: June 10, 2008, 04:38:25 PM
I've had this issue in the past when I didn't let the tank depressurize before pumping... if the nozzle is not letting extra pressure in the tank escape, and you undo the gas cap too quickly and the inner metal cover/seal is sealing it, this can happen...

Don't just whip your gas cap off... turn it until you can hear the pressure in the tank finish equalizing, then remove it the rest of the way.

3506  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How does one make female friends? on: June 09, 2008, 04:12:45 PM
Here's what you do...

Find some girls you like and date them.

Give the need for a girl to be really sensitive and talk about feelings with that you've expressed in this thread a front row seat.

This will inevitably lead to a conversation wherein she says 'I just want to be friends.'

Bam.  You are in.

I worked in a movie theatre long ago. While picking up all the trash was always nasty at least most of it was food. The worst was when people would leave used diapers. Some people would even stay until the lights came on to change the kid and then leave the diaper while we stood in the back waiting for them to leave so we could clean.

In actual movies I have grown a dislike to cars exploding into massive fireballs. While I don't mind it happening to a few it seems that any car shot or that lands upside has to now blow up.

This reminds me of a story my buddy told me recently... he took his 1.5 year old kid to see Bee Movie (yeah, I don't know), and half an hour in the kid puked all over himself, the seat, my buddy, the floor... so my buddy scooped him up and bolted... he got home and his wife said "Where are the kid's shoes?"  So she made him go back to get them.

I dunno... sometimes there is something to be said for stylishness... in some movies it works to have a shotgun blow someone across the room.  But yeah.

Why is it that when someone is standing in front of glass and gets shot in the head, it always splatters blood and gore on the glass, yet somehow the bullet that delivered all of this energy doesn't shatter the glass?  I could even go for a bullet hole if I were pressed.  I'm pretty sure bullets don't stop the second they get to the opposite side of a head.

I much, much, much prefer this style of RPG to the Oblivion style of RPG.  I want a nice, focused story without too much futzing around.

As for 360 vs. PC, I had lockups on the 360 version as well as a couple on the PC version... so pick yer poison, I guess.
