Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Mass Effect PC... Impressions?

My copy came yesterday, but I won't get to crack it open until later.
I played a few planets into the 360 version, but when I saw that they were adding back in the better tactical control of squadmates that they had taken out before the 360 release, I ditched it to pick this up... I'm hoping it's good...
Anyone play last night?

Figures that the good game is the one I only get to watch bits and pieces of... I got to watch the last 10 minutes, and that was some fun, intense stuff... I was really pulling for Detroit to get one in before the buzzer, but it wasn't in the cards.
Wings in 5.

Or do they treat goalies in the NHL just like they treat quarterbacks in the NFL? Put a skirt on them and don't let anyone touch them no matter where they are on the field/ice.
Pretty much.

And I guess the 'purpose' is to keep goalies from playing pucks in the corners and give the offensive team more chances on the forecheck, in theory resulting in more offensive, and therefore more 'exciting' play.

The trapezoid is the only place behind the net that the goalie is allowed to play the puck. Some people call it the 'Brodeur rule'.

Yeah.... I dunno, I see players on all of the teams make sure they 'sell' the penalty... I definitely see the Wings do it too, but there's nothing out of hand there with any of them really from my point of view. Once in a while, sure, they sell something totally pussy, but mostly it's just a bit of dramatic flair... I actually kind of felt like Franzen sold the Roberts hit harder than he'd been hit, but when a guy is coming up and punching you away from the puck, you gotta sell it and get the penalty, because that shit just shouldn't be going on, and needs attention drawn to it.
Let's face it, all of the guys on all of the teams are much tougher than they act... they can take some really brutal hits that are obviously legal and skate on like nothing happened... they know illegal contact when they feel it, and a lot of them, on all of the teams, make sure someone notices when they do. That's not the Red Wings, that's the NHL...
Regardless, as mentioned, quesitonable calls and borderline flops weren't going to change the outcome of either of these games.
I'd like to see the Pens do a best of 7 against the Stars for the real second place... I have a feeling they would lose to them as well. Maybe.
Also, I think they will still pick up one game...

I have somehow, miraculously at times, avoided arrest my entire life. I was once detained by the police at gunpoint... I apparently 'matched' the description of a suspect who was a full 14" shorter than me... who had black hair... yeah.

You don't think there was anything else in the movie that evoked the 50s?
Awesome! So in the next movie they can set it in the late '60s and have Indy fight the Vietcong, solve the Manson family murders, and hang out at Woodstock! Because that's pretty much how blatant an era cash-in this was. Both of you missed the point of my statement. The 50s equivalent of pulp cinema was science fiction. The original Indy movies were blatant era cash-ins as well (especially Last Crusade with Hitler signing the book in Berlin) and Spielberg and Lucas from the get-go said this was going to be a sci-fi pulp film. Well... not arguing for or against what you said, since I think the premise could've worked and my complaints were less about aliens and more about execution, but... just because someone says something is going to be X doesn't mean that X is a good idea...

District B13: Decent... not nearly as much fun action as I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. Layer Cake: Great movie. Equilibrium: Totally ridiculous, but pretty fun in a popcorn sort of way. Boondock Saints: Totally overrated. True Romance: It's got some good moments... Slater wears though. Definitely mainstream. Bubba Ho-Tep: Horribly overrated piece of crap. I don't get why nerds have such a hard on for anything with Bruce Campbell. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang: LOVE this movie. Fantastic dialog. Spartan: I was a little let down by this because it sounded so awesome, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Kind of fizzles out... Brick: Really, really enjoyable movie. I own this and watch it regularly. Kind of silly if you don't get it, really good fun with great dialog if you do. Man, I might have to watch this tonight. Zero Effect: Thought this was a good one. Good Pullman. Unlike 'While You Were Sleeping.' Bad Pullman. Reanimator: Great. Kids: Crap. Suspiria: Seriously creepy. Repo Man: Punk rock classic. But kind of shitty. Ronin: Skylander, are you really talking about the DeNiro movie? Because that's pretty damn mainstream. Some of my picks, some of which might be pretty commonly watched around here: The Apostle: Great movie for Robert Duvall fans... a southern preacher with a temper beats his wife's lover into a coma w/ a baseball bat... on a little league field... the then flees and looks for his own redemption... Buffalo Soldiers: One of Joaquin Phoenix's better performances, in my book... he's a black market hustler in the end of the cold war Berlin... features Anna Paquin in her underpants... so that's good. The Machinist: The only Christian Bale performance I've thought was really outstanding... a guy who hasn't slept in a year. He lost an idiotic amount of weight for the role. Bloody Sunday: A pretty remarkable piece of film making from Paul Greengrass who went on to direct the later Bourne movies... American Movie: A really funny, sort of not funny movie about a midwest loser trying to make horror movies... documentary... excellent. That's all I can think of right now...

A bad Indiana Jones movie is still better than 90% of the other crap out there Hey, something we agree on! I wish I could agree... and up until now I would've... I still like ToD even though it's not great... but this I just thought was a bad movie, and sadly just another silly greenscreened summer blockbuster.

We all understand that the movies are summer popcorn flicks, but up until now they have always been summer popcorn flicks where the supernatural has occurred in an over the top but believable and gritty 'real' world, which is what sets them apart from the 'OMG SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER' movie of the current decade. With the new one they totally failed at that with all this green screen crap... it lacks the physicality of the world and the stunts in the other movies.
And yes, Spielberg and Ford bear some responsibility too, but the story came from Lucas... the scary part is that this is the version that came out after four years of Spielberg and Ford telling Lucas that he was being too 'out there'... I shudder to think what his original idea entailed. They also all had to come to an agreement, and it seems obvious that the crazy ideas came from Lucas while the other two tried to tone it down to something more Indy. Would holding out have resulted in no Indy 4 being made? Maybe so. Maybe that would've been for the best.
After the first act, it just lost that Indy 'feel', and turned into the Mummy Returns with the budget to make the Scorpion King look better...

Yeah, I don't think Kronwall is a headhunter at all. He goes all out to lay down hard hits, but he's almost always playing the game when he does it.
I was really impressed that they actually got Datsyuk to throw a punch. If you can get that guy to throw down then you probably need to admit that you are playing dirty.
The punches on Franzen were totally, totally out of line.

If you want to use iTunes, then get an iPod Video... 80gb... have room to grow...
I have a Zune, and it's okay, but the PC software kind of blows, and I had to send the first one back... it went pretty smoothly, but still... if I hadn't gotten it for under $100, I would be pissed.

shoved aside by our wives for weeks and no sex. Ain't a married man here who will make the claim they haven't experienced that. Um, I'm pretty sure there are. Yes. THose men are called liars. That's not a judgement I'd rush to. Yeah, some of you have gone years.

I guess the worst case scenario of the Wings dropping a game is that we get to watch more hockey.
I think my wife would call that a minus, but... I call it a plus!

Yeah, I wonder if that goal not getting canceled would've affected the overall outcome just due to people being pissed... maybe not. The Stars definitely stepped it up... which is probably good so the Wings don't get complacent and get a big shock when they hit the Penguins.
