How would a tattoo cure low self esteem?

I could see at least two possibilities:

1) Instant camaraderie with the "edgy" crowd?  Now I'm not just a skinny, 20-something misfit.  I'm a skinny, 20-something misfit with ink man!

2) Lots of people wanting to see it, complimenting you, etc.

Well... I've certainly seen some people who have gotten tattoos for those reasons.  However, I've seen far more people who assume that those are the only reasons people get tattoos.  People without tattoos (or people with something 'small and cute, where nobody will see it') telling people who have tattoos *why* they have them seems to be a national past time.

Don't get me wrong... there are a lot of really dumb people getting a lot of really dumb tattoos for really dumb reasons out there... I think that's why it's so annoying to the rest of us when anyone with a tattoo gets lumped in together.

Went today... I enjoyed it, though I was so tired I actually started nodding off  here and there in the second half... so I probably should see it again when I'm better rested and see if it creates fits of narcolepsy.  I thought it started stronger than it finished, and that it wasn't as good as Ratatouille or Incredibles, but was still a very good movie... a rewatch will let me know what I really think.

What was extremely funny was that the people in the row in front of us had the people on the screen beat in terms of girth.

What's not to like about that?
All I knew about Wyoming as a kid was "there be fireworks."
That's what I know about Indiana now.

Actually, I don't know if you can legally set them off here... but you can buy them.

Last year we were on tour and were with some buddies in Missoula, MT.  East Missoula is the most insane private fireworks show I've ever seen... it was like bagdhad.

3410  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Help me find a song / 7" record - UPDATE - help me figure out lyrics! on: June 27, 2008, 08:18:53 PM
UPDATE: Go to this post to help me out w/ lyrics: http://www.gamingtrend.com/forums/index.php/topic,27785.msg435453.html#msg435453

I keep dead ending... I can find evidence of what album this song is NOT on, but not what release it IS on... I think maybe a 7"?  Maybe someone knows a good rare record source, or has better google fu than me...

Anyway:

Band: Shrapnel
Song: Sleep Over
Year: 1981?

Facts that help: Band featured Dave Wyndorf, later of Monster Magnet fame, and Daniel Rey (Daniel Rabinowitz), who produced some later Ramones albums, among others.  The song was in the Troma teen sex B- movie 'The First Turn-on'.  In fact, they play another song on screen in a dance scene...

I imagine if someone finds a copy it might be retardedly expensive, but I want it...

Oh, and it's not on the Combat Love 7", or on the self-titled EP on elektra, or on the 'Same' EP...

But... morning is when I'm hungover...

Interesting results so far... did the stress test monday, day 1 tuesday, was feeling sort of weak in the arms on wednesday, was SORE as hell yesterday, did day 2 last night... I feel pretty good right now, even though I did more pushups in day 2... not really sore at all.  I'll see if the soreness appears tomorrow as it did w/ day 1...

I'm a little leery of seeing this one in the theater.  I had liked or loved every single Pixar release up until Ratatouille.  I missed it in the theater because our daughter was too young for us to go, and when we saw it on DVD, we were both severely disappointed.  That, and there are so many movies that we are seeing in the theater this summer, that this one will probably be pushed back until DVD release.

Wow... Ratatouille was amazingly good... my favorite movie of last year, no question.  I could watch it every day.

I do them up on my fists to avoid a recurring wrist problem.  It's kind of brutal.

If you do them with your hands forward, does it hurt when you are in the 'down' position?  Are your hands too far back towards your feet?

Oh, is THAT what was going on there?  That threw me on one or two as well, as I would think 'okay, pacman doesn't have any voices in it' or something similar.

Day 2 is today for me (I got started a bit late), and I'm worried... I'm much, much more sore than I was yesterday, though maybe not feeling *quite* as weak... maybe I overdid it on my 'max' set at the end of day 1... we'll see what happens.

I'm pretty happy with Verizon... but it's really the only viable carrier here.  I have, however, used it all over on tour and it seems to have good coverage and good connections... it's kind of pricey, but they all seem to be... I guess that Sprint thing is pretty cheap.  Seems like there's gotta be a catch though...

I like you.  Steel Pole... that's a band not enough people knew about.
Yeah, that was a band I never expected to see mentioned... anywhere.

I picked up Tulip on cassette long long ago. Not sure if it was because it was on Boner Records (I like the Melvins) or just because of the name and the song titles. Always liked them since then even if I took forever in getting more of their stuff. I did get to see them live once at a local club in the early 90s.

Darren Morey (Steel Pole Bathtub's drummer) has a brother named Todd Morey who sang in a Portland band called Atomic 61 that put out some really fantastic albums in the early/mid 90s... they played their final show right here in Laramie in... hrm.. 97?  Not really like Steel Pole, but an interesting connection to a kickass band... look for the album 'Purity of Essence'.

3436  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Need 360 game suggestions on: June 24, 2008, 11:21:31 PM
My favorites (in order of favoritenessishness)

Rainbow 6 Vegas
NHL 07/08
GTAIV
Battlestations: Midway
GRAW2
PGR3
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2
Guitar Hero II
Ace Combat 6
GRAW

I remember your enjoyment of the first PC GRAW... you definitely want to check out R6V and GRAW2... and if you are going to do that, you might as well check out GRAW and R6V2.

If you haven't played COD4, you could give it a rental on 360... or buy it on PC since it's better there.

Yeah, if my wife and kid listened to stuff like that I'd keep it separate too... like in a different house... with their new daddy who loves them unconditionally.

You'll note I've added a line for testing; your intensity isn't locked in so if you fail to stay in your higher category you simply continue on a lower track. At the end of each week you are to test again (check week1's description at the bottom). So your growth isn't limited by the curve of the program.

I've filled in 2 of 6 weeks for all three intensity levels; if people find this form more useful I'll update the remaining weeks and include info for the three tiers.

Cool... but... It seems backwards to me with goal/accomplished instead of accomplished/goal...
