Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Soooo... are we getting a cel-shaded "Wind Waker 2"

"Engine" is a pretty abstract term, actually. If you tear out your engine's lighting code and completely rewrite it, then is it the same engine? It's like a software engineering zen koan Basically all it means for them to use the same engine is that some of the code is the same and some of the code is different. The game certainly looks impressive, either way.

Shigeru Miyamoto from the Nintendo e3 press conference: So Mr. Aonuma actually wasn't lying at the Game Developer's Conference when he said we were working on Wind Waker 2. He just didn't tell the whole story. And fortunately because he didn't tell the whole story, we were able to surprise you all here with a big announcement about the series. So I'd say no.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Doom deservedly gets a 5/10 in Xbox Nation

hahaha, me a pirate I never played more Q3 then the demo. Never even bothered with the Team Arena demo. That type of game has never appealed to me (at least until UT2k4). I even tried 2k3 but didn't like it. Traded it fast. Damn I wish I lived in my parent's basement. It'd be a helluva lot cheaper... None of this changes the fact that Doom3 looks likely to rock your socks. I've yet to see a preview that's down on it (psychic paragraphs excepted), and even given the fact that previews are rarely negative, there certainly have been a LOT. If things keep traveling down this road I will lock this thread. I get no points for linking the CG preview to "reputable"?

Uhhhhhhhhh,,,,,,,,, where does it say he didn't get a look at the game?
Where does it even begin to indicate that he did? Note that the entire thing is prefaced by "Psychic Prediction." Let's not even argue how you choose to define what makes one look or another "pretty good." Note also: I haven't spent money on an id product since Quake 2. I'd say this qualifies me for exemption from the idiotic "Fanboy" argument, but given that you think a one paragraph poorly written ("the review of the game, by the people...") psychic prediction qualifies as a definitive in-depth review, I don't expect you to agree.

DOOM 3 Synopsis: You're on Mars. Demon Aliens have teken over the space station. Kill them all, in the dark, with lots of guns.
Psychic Prediction: This is interesting. Let me see. I expected to find more to do with money and the game to be a big moneymaker. This one is really weird. They may put some tricks in the game to make it more complex and compensate for its..I don't know. There might be some hidden levels or more than one way to get through this game. It seems like there might be a few optional ways to finish it. The review of the game, by the people.. it's not going to play out as well as people expected. Maybe there was too much expectation. I predict it will be good but not fabulous. If they've built in some twists, that's good. I don't know if technology has advanced enough. i think maybe the sales will be dissapointing.
Psychic's predicted score: 5/10
So this BS is what qualifies as someone getting "a pretty good look at doom"? Please. DD, maybe you should try and read some actual previews from reputable sites before you make yourself look silly.

If #3 bothers you, don't play Riddick!! I've never been called a cocksucker in a game before. It was an unusual experience It's pretty clear to me that PT was something of a rush job. The missions aren't that great and there are obvious polish issues like misspellings in the mission notes. The ending was about as lame as they come. I had a decent time with it. I don't mind linear games too much and IIRC there was always a reasonable excuse behind why you can't use your pistol. Whenever possible I enjoyed trying to kill as few people as possible.

I think I used jumping + dragon sword for the ghost fish. Oh and also the lighting magic works really well when you've got a big group of them. As long as you keep jumping and moving they're not a problem.
NG is definitely my favorite action game of all time now, I think. The camera a little wacky at first but you get the hang of it and it really becomes second nature quick. I'm starting to get the itch to play it again now...

This one may have gone to the DS. Shigeru may be overlooking this one while the other guy overlooks the Wind Waker engine game for the DS.
Would be very surprised if the DS had the power to run anything approaching the Wind Waker engine. Cel-shading is not just some cheap texture effect. Plus with all the animations that game had... I would welcome it but be very surprised.

PSP definitely came across better then the DS to me. The DS design looks a little dated, while the PSP is slick and the features and games they listed sounded pretty hot. It's all just a matter of opinion though. This Zelda thing is definitely #1 for me so far. "Winning E3" is a pretty empty victory, though, IMO. I bet very, very few people could recall who supposedly "won" the last e3 without some furious googling

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Is Morrowind worth buying an Xbox for?

It is as buggy as the original release
He lies! There are lots of fixes incorporated into GOTY. Just give the patch notes a read through on elderscrolls.com and you'll see (all PC patches were incorporated into GOTY, excepting the stuff like new journal), as well as some fixes to try and circumvent the DDE's as much as possible. Generally we've found the amount of reports of DDE's to be greatly reduced (percentage wise) from the original, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear people still have trouble with them. The first time I tried to load a save game in Halo I got one :x Annoying. You can get mods onto an Xbox with a mod chip but I can't tell you the exact procedure, and not everything works the same as it does on PC.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Does Rob Smith's New Role as EIC Ruin XBOX Magazine ?

I always felt that Rob was the bulwark against the juvenilism that that Vederman guy was spreading over there. I swear "TheVede's" reviews read like rants from 12-year olds. "OMG DUNGEON SIEGE R0XX0RS!"
I've never met Rob in person but our PR rep tells me he's a really cool guy. I'd wait and see if I were you.

From what I know, Microsoft is planning out its game strategy very well. Brilliantly, I might say, but I'm known as a fanboy No doubt Sony and Nintendo will have heavy hitter games as well, but the lead should favor MS. It will be very interesting to watch.

The few weeks off really helped and so did a new online identity, I just recently went back to GG because I couldn't stand not having an intelligent place to talk games, especially my Xbox. Ign just can't cut it. That and the Tortoise name is/was a great to get a fresh start.
And I'd love to get the old moderator job back. It was enjoyable to be part of that group over at GG, and I know I allready like the crew here. That would certainly help take the double, triple and quadruple duty some pull here. Just DO NOT make me the mod of the Nintendo section... Heh, good deal then. Welcome back. The reason I thought it must be someone different is that I saw Tortoise make some big Xbox-positive post on GG, and I thought "Nah, obviously not him"

Nice to see Tebunker again!!
Don't think that's the Tebunker you're thinking of, though I could be wrong. (Think it's Tortoise from GG). Anyway, nice looking site guys. No more horrifically ugly times new roman side bars = teh win! Glad to hear you'll be taking care of the generic-feeling default phpBB skin too.
