so, this is out now.  the question is this:  do I grab it even though I haven't had a chance to play 3 (or 2 or 1), all of which I own on Steam? icon_lol

No.  4 is nothing more than a refined version of 3 (which was fine anyway).  I'd play 3 and if you like it, pick 4 up on sale.

If you're dying to get rid of $35, just send it to me via PayPal.

thanks for the advice on T4.  I thought about it after I posted and T3 should hold me over nicely until the Holiday Sale (less than 3 months away!).

GET T4, I played T3 to death along with T1,reloaded and T2. T4's demo is awesome the pop up missions is a nice touch. The training\tutorials alone makes the game easy for new comers to get into. The demo holds your hand more than any of the tropico games combined. Even If your a big guru in city builders you will find the older versions of tropico hard to get into, especially when you find yourself voted out of office just as you get things going.
You will be fine with T4 plus steam gives yo T1 and T2 if you pre-order now.

Iam playing the hell out of the steam demo and I must say I am loving the changes so far.
Its not much so that it could not have been a expansion pack but in these days of no SimCity it will have to do.
85  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Coffee Help please on: August 16, 2011, 01:19:39 PM
I just had some coffee that reminded me of this topic. Wow its been almost 2 years now since my first cup of brew. I remembered when it was all about the flavor coffee for me, I could not understand why people did not like flavor coffee.
Well I am not sure when or even how I stopped drinking flavored coffee, but one thing is for sure now that shit is nasty.. I just had me a cup and was like this shit must be spoiled. I tried a fresh new package and flavor and the same nasty after taste.
It got me thinking of this post and how people said I would grow out of the flavored coffee phase. I am not sure how, but it did happen.
My brew of choice now, is Eight O'Clock 100% Columbian, Starbucks morning Joe, and the very hated MaxuelHouse (Work). with French Vanilla or Hazelnut Creamers. Although I do like to try different creamers from time to time.
I am not big on black yet but can handle it with 4-6 sugars. Just a week ago I was introduced to espresso, wooooh.
Just taught I share that with you all.

This is only the most recent.

We have had similar situations in here in SE Tennessee as well.

I'd implement a policy to shoot on sight if I were in charge.  Guess it's good I'm not in charge.

Thats some bullshit. I am sure any parent that recognizes their child\children on there wont do a damn thing. I showed my son 16 yeah old son this and told him if he ever, ever, ever, think of some crap like this he will get an Island style ass cutting... I don't care how old you is. Parents need to raise and talk to their children.

Ps a "ass cutting" is not literal. its a whooping with a belt, shoe, electric chord, or anything that will not break a bone or tear the skin. It does enough to make you understand that the cause was not worth the punishment. If you have two parents it may happen twice.

PS

What did they do here, change the square tiles to an octagon and gave it a new name? Wow, It did get better scores.
91  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Might & Magic Heroes VI Beta Impressions [pic heavy] on: July 02, 2011, 02:56:53 AM
I cant believe that I never given this series a play, Ive always for some reason taught it as a card game.  I am very interested in HOMM6 to the point I downloaded the demo of HOMM5  to give it a try before I buy last night. I just saw that Steam is having a complete pack sale for $4.99 I am downloading it right now.
I plan to play V and the accompanying expansions with intentions to complete in time for the release of VI.
Thanks for the intro Lockdown.

it's a territory or a commonwealth or something that pays taxes.
And No none of the territories pay taxes. Thats why they remain territories all the benefits of been American with out the taxes. Every election the option is on the ballets and every election its voted down by the people to remain a territory and not become the 51st State.

really?  I saw this on Wiki:

Quote
The U.S. Government classifies Puerto Rico as an independent taxation authority by Federal Law 48 U.S.C. 734. Puerto Rico residents are required to pay U.S. federal taxes, import/export taxes,[100] federal commodity taxes,[101] social security taxes etc. Individuals working with the Federal Government pay federal income taxes while the rest of the residents are required to pay federal payroll taxes (Social Security[102] and Medicare),[103] as well as Commonwealth of Puerto Rico income taxes. All federal employees,[104] plus those who do business with the federal government,[105] in addition to Puerto Rico-based corporations that intend to send funds to the U.S.,[106] and some others[107] also pay federal income taxes. In 2009, Puerto Rico paid $3.742 billion into the US Treasury.[108]

I was talking about the USVI, IDK how Puerto Rico got themselves into that mess.. SMH

Played last night for a long time.  Got through the first chapter (there's a lot more story to this than I was expecting).  And I played MP for longer than I intended.  Got through a dozen waves of whatever they're calling that game type.

I had a blast and am really looking forward to playing the hell out of this.

I to played last night for way to long, 3am is no time for me to be going to bed on a work night. Its just that one more lvl mentality keep me going. I enjoyed the demo and was expecting just that when I picked up the game. 6 minute runs geared at achieving the highest score and putting my name up on the leader board.
Instead I was engulfed with this story and action that made me feel like I was playing a Gears of War knock off, and it felt DAMN good. The story so far got me very much involved along with the rest of the weapons not in the demo and their new features as you level them up.
For those that was complaining about the language I noticed there was an option for it in the options menu to turn it on or off. I haven't tried it, because personally I like my art the way the artist\director intended it to be.
If you like tactical shooters or GOW you will enjoy this game. This game is tactical, just in a none conventional way think Skill Shots.

That just looks strange. I can't figure out what she was trying to do.

I was wondering about that myself. I think what happened was that she started making the second flip by mistake (obviously, since none of the other cheerleaders moved into a second flip), realized her mistake a nano-second after she started her second flip, and then made an even bigger mistake by trying to pull out of her second flip, realized THAT mistake and then tried to continue the flip, which, of course, was impossible. Result? The world's most awkward looking back flop.

At least she only fell onto a wrestling mat. Which begs the question, Why are there Cheerleaders at a Wrestling Match?

That's not curling?

I also raped about 6 new cities early on in a vigorous war.  I annexed them, since I am not really sure what the "puppet state" means in the long run or when it is wise to raze....
My happiness dropped like a rock, My gold went into the negative, my troops started deserting on me..   I declared a peace for 10 turns, popped 2 golden ages and finally started getting in the green...   Kept putting improvements.. built roads to all the new cities

But, Rome built up huge in this time, and I think they are going to smoke me.

(I had no idea why the happiness dropped SO bad..   It left me really weak when my troops started deserting...   Rome even told me I was weak, heh.. )     I guess I need to know more about the cost of roads and tiles, building, what puppet states do, etc..

When your in a ruff war, have a huge aggressive and rich army like Rome massing on your border, barbs running amok everywhere, etc the last thing you want to see is troops vanishing..  ugh   Somehow I recovered, but I think, unless I get lucky, it is going to cost me the game.

Rome is way ahead in troops, even with me in technology, and far richer..

Working Happiness
Your Civs starts off happy (difficulty lvl determine how much). Every citizen costs one point of unhappiness, cities cost two.
your job is to find new ways to make your people happy.  This don't mean its OK to go buying tiles or dropping cities next to luxury tiles.
you would want to reseach Mining, bronze Working, Iron working. This is the early path for a conqueror that will reveal Gems, Silver, Gold or other luxury that add +5 happiness.
Next you have wonders and buildings that produce happiness example Coliseums, Circuses, Theaters etc.
Then you have Policies to Promote happines Piety for one have two Branches one adds 2 happines to you r empire and another reduces unhappiness by 20%. Legalism have tradition that reduces by 33%. There are more under policies but hopefully this will you or anyone else with this issue out\off on the right foot.
