What I don't mind but you may not like about the game that I've seen so far.
  • 1)Pop in, pop ins, pop ins. Remember GTAIII  Cars here one second and gone the other
  • 2)Your Made men have the ability to "telerport" This must have been put in to counter act any path finding issues. I am also suspect on some of the bad guys to. There is no explanation why I would get attack from a room I just cleared. The good news is they are not spawning guys because there is a set amount guarding the place, you will know this from your Don view.
  • 3)I am in Florida and the hits on my business are increasing 10 folds in New York New Dons are trying to take over. Now I am sending Made men (out of the 3 I currently have) over there to defend because the goons guarding aint crap. While I am running solo in Miami on missions some of which I need the expertise of a made man that's defending a front NY. He cant be pulled out until it is over and it can be a while.  I hope This is where the under Boss will be assisting me soon.
  • 4)The cops stars ramp up mad quick (Patch needed) for some petty ass crimes. I got call out by a witness for beating up a guy (side mission) while escaping my made men started shooting at a cop car that was giving chase. In no time I had 4 stars FBI and the entire Police force boxing me in.  littered the car with bullets, blown it up  injuring my made men and arresting me. I did not stand a chance.
When your Made men are injured they are out for 12hours.
  • 5)need to add the ability to role with goons when your valuable made men is indisposed Jail, hospital, prison. You may ask cant you hire another one? yes you can but will you If I just spent 30Gs upgrading them? to start over with someone new for another 30G's?

For the Godfather movie lovers. Unlike part 1 This is Not part of the Movie.
The Godfather II game goes beyond the film's story by setting players in the world of organized crime in 1960's Florida, Cuba and New York.
After being promoted by Michael Corleone to Don of New York, players expand to new cities, as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal crime rings and defeating new families in an effort to become the most powerful mob family in America. To help players manage their empire, The Godfather II introduces "The Don's View" - an innovative strategy meta-game that allows players to oversee the entire world as they grow the family business. Using the Don's View, players will be able to build, defend and expand their crime rings, while keeping an eye on the movements and plans of the rival families. Players will also learn to master the business of organized crime by building a family of Made Men, hiring crew, handing out orders, and promoting their best men up the ranks.

how well do the black hand controls seem now?  new moves?  what have you seen so far that ties into the movie?  (not too specific of course)

damn my luck, but i just know i won't be able to find this around me until next week.

The Black hand controls seemed a lot more exciting in the first game now that you mention it. I can grab, shake, head bot, Knee to the body, strangle with bare hands & thump (not Punch) Thump in the face. I am having a hard time bashing heads to the tables, wall or nearby items. I could be just doing it wrong.

New Moves?????
The Movie?????

I am sorry but its been sometime for me since the last game and even longer for the movie. I don't think this have any ties to the move at all.
The whole family tree and Don control is new but you all already know this.

Black hand capabilities seems to be an upgrade I have to learn so there maybe more to it than I first stated. There are various finishing moves you can perform.

Is the language rough in this one?  I just want to know whether or not I'll have an issue playing this around my wife (violence aside).

Yes, on the language. The nudity is up by 200% of that in all the GTA series combined. It feels like 75% or the rackets are strip joints. I whacked a guy beating down a lady in her birthday suit in an ally. Why she was naked in the first place? I don't have a clue. May have been an attempted rape, but the nudity is huge.

See...now they're losing me. There were a few swear words in the original and IIRC there were a few women in underwear...

Yeah...sorry there boobs every where they put lace-granny-panties to cover the "P" if that helps

Its hard for me to answer that because its so much like GTA with so much more control that you don't want to class it with GTA. IF you ever played Gangsters 1 or 2 this is the 3D version of that game.

169  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The GodFather 2 Impression on: April 02, 2009, 09:33:38 PM
Got this for the 360 I owned the first one for PC and never played the console versions. So far the controls are smooth and fluent the aiming is on point with the LT to lock and RT to Shoot. The first Gun I got was some 1944 pistol that took forever to kill.
The driving so far seems realistic in a way but the vehicle I currently have seems rough on corners. This game is deep as far as managing you crew and business well for business you basically put up to a set amount of guards there to protect the place. At a $100 buck per person I find myself balancing between my income and guards. Also its pushing me to extort the Max amount out of businesses to cover expenses.
I am in charge of who to HIT to what my crew wears. As I play more I will give more information about the game, as for now I am only getting my feet wet.

COUPLE MORE HOURS OF PLAY
The core mechanics of the game is still there along with the Ability to give orders from a map you pull up with the start button. You choose your mobsters through an interview process "what do u do" "tell me about your self" and there is more info via what seems to be a Resume.
The side missions comes from the common people on the street from Key informant to missions to killing a husband or wife so they can move in. There are a-lot of demented people out there. You have a choice to refuse any of there missions, but some may require you to have the right people to complete it alla Demolition exp. Safe Cracker ect.
Witnesses are part of the game also beating someone up on the street, running over peds. or even extorting a store will alarm passerby's to run to a pay phone and call the cops on you.

Unlike the past GF when you pull up the map you only see a small part of the city, I am at the first Mob still but so far its focusing on one gang right now. May still be the get your feet wet missions. either way its enough for now because it is\can get overwhelming if it was not for the game\Boss giving directions.

I like how you have to work the streets for information to the location of the enemy head soldiers in that family's tree to weaken that Family ability to effectively run the streets. Because as the game said everything you can do to them they can do to you. For now I keep my soldiers close to me and spend more on goons to defend my fronts. I will soon have to seek out a new strategy as my Family tree gets bigger, 3 seems to be the max you can take with you for now. I must add to send your message to your rival families you must execute their soldiers in a specific way, Shot between the eyes, Chocking, thrown off a building and so on.

This game is lots of fun and a crap load to do. This is a perfect mix of GTA, SaintsRow2, & GangStars2.

I don't know whats up with IGN but the game is a lot of fun, I liked the demo enough to make the game a day one purchase and I am enjoying every moment of it. With in the first hour and a half of game play I have on locked most of the ability we got in the demo and a series of Garages, Weapons Cashes, and many more. There are upgrades to attacks, weapons, car attacks and abilities to be had, from what I've seen up to LVL 15 for most of the upgradeable stuff, about 25 lines including 10 side missions (could be more).

I did do some run and gun missions and it's not bad at all, simple at best but effective enough. RT to aim, LT to shoot, and B to take cover behind objects. What about that Air jacking? woohoo I can get enough of it. The game is fun at best GTA + Burnout + pursuit force + stuntman. I would rate it 8.7

The one thign I noticed immediately when I switched from Time Warner to Uverse was that the SD looks great. On Time Warner I could tell instantly if my wife was watching an SD channel (a no-no in my house!), but with Uverse SD looks nearly as good as HD.

I have to give them that but on the flip side anything that was not meant to be the focus of attention looked extra horrid.. example I was watching a basketball game on uverse, the court and players looked great the side bench and beyond was all faceless people, same game in HD no problem. it was the digital pixilation thing that the internet does.

Well after 3weeks of U-Verse is seems like this is not right for my family. Some things that was not mentions until the installation was near completion.
1) I am limited to 4 TVs being viewed at one time 1HD and 3SD the 4th 5th tv have to watch a prerecording or one of the 3 stations the other boxes are on. This is due to the 4 streams limit, HD uses 2 of those streams.

2) The two other HD TVs I plan on buying next month will be useless with U-verse.
a) My wife is always recording something, if its in HD then that leave either 2SD tvs or 1HD tv that can be used.

3) The playback from any room is a swell idea, however you cant pause or rewind any tv other than the one with the DVR.

4) To schedule a recording you have to be at the DVR or have a computer in front of you to do so. It never worked on my iphone.

5) I have 4 kids with 4 different personalities, the fussing on who need to give up a program is ridiculous.

So I am about to call it quits with U-verse, I do plan on keeping the Internet service 18Mb is good enough for me.

So here are my options DirectTV, Dish Network, or Cable? What should I know? What is your personal experience with what you have?
I am leaning more to DirectTV but I am concerned about the cloud cover we get her during the summer months in Orlando FL,

Att is a great company I have cell service with them for 15 faitfull years now that is why I was so easily swayed to U-verse (Brand Loyalty)  disgust do feel the the service will improve over time but for now I need something that will satisfy my family needs and the wallet.
Uverse future bill $191.00 with internet u200pkg
Comcast past bill $181.00 with internet ultimate pkg
DirectTV Quote $65.00 for one year 200HDDVR pkg + $65.00 with HS internet from ATT = $130.00

2 hours of game play impressions and SPOILERS not major. Yes I scored an early copy. wow its been 2 games in a row so far. I've made it out of the Vault and traveled to the first town of Megaton.
My Valt experience was as followed: You begging the game as a new born. So new you still got fluid from you mothers womb in your eyes. And you are opening your eyes to your first choice in the game it a Boy or Girl? After making your selection you would here your father babbling on about how cute you are and all that crap.
You have your next choice to make "he looks like?" here you  have the ability to create what you would look like in your adult age. The character creation sucked so bad I just started picking the defaults. it used sliders that would often off set you previous selection if you choose something else.  example I had thick lips, when adding mustache the lips, eyes and checks slider started shrinking..WTF? After making character there is a little dram that plays out then a year goes by.

Now your a toddle (A) to talk baby talk... This is an attempt of a tutorial on the movement and picking up items in the game. They used a baby book to educate you on certain traits which was kinda cool. when this is all done 9 years go by and you are now at your Tenth birthday party.
Here you talk and interact with party goers and your introduced t other NPC in the game both young and old. Your dad give you BB gun and you also get your "pip boy 2k" No real information on how to use it but any gamer will figure it out. you are given a brief tutorial on shooting and aiming.

Four years now past and this scene opens with your dad informing you of a test you take at 16 in the vault that determines your career path. from the conversation all the way to the test you are given choice in your answers which seems to range from very well mannered to a rude as snub. before the test your are informed by the instructor that he can fix the test for you  and tell him what you want. However you are given the choice to take the test yourself. Be prepared for some weird ass questions. This is the game attempt to decide what type of character you are. These questions was really wired.

2 year would now past and your 16 been woken up by the Overseers daughter who informs you of your dads escape from the vault and how you need to help him. Finally some action, if you played Oblivion you know how this games combat system feels. The only difference is the PipBoy and the time era. geting out of the vault plays very similar to the cave in Oblivion. Be warned you may choose to help someone but if you hit them(NPC) can\will kill them and can change how the game. The targeting system is awesome in my opinion. I am still learning it so I will have to get back with that.

On the last leg of the Vault felt like Oblivion even the gate to teh outside. upon exiting the graphics are really good looks like Gears of War 1 graphics and color...umm if you know what I mean... Over all it looks good. The third person view look like crap, you get the sense of your aviator is held in the game by the waist with a treadmill like effect.. ( think pole position in the arcades) stick to first person.

I can help but feel like I am playing a future Oblivion the world is wide open I mean where you want get ass lost in the middle of no where big and open.. I fiddled with the out side world for a while collecting every thing from uniforms to shot glasses. I have no clue what to do with them, but I can obviously collect them for some reason so why not. I will soon find out their value, I am sure there is something on the pipboy to help me with this but I haven't taken the time out to figure out yet. Maybe the fist town will help with my development of the game mechanics but I doubt it.  I will play some more after work tomorrow if Fableitist don't set in. I dont have that till dawn fell with this game right now, maybe as I get in to it and understand it more it may get more exciting. Right now I feel like a colorless Oblivion with lots of tech to learn.
where is my damn horse?

Graphics: Detailed (environments) but colorless (expected)
Control's: Usual First person. Horrible third person
tutorial: Crap (WTF is new we all know the basics)
Game play: to early to call but feels very Oblivion
V.A.T.S: cool as hell but my starting weapon is crap.

I have to go collect rent in fable now..... if you have any questions I will try to answer them for you but I am sure there will be a ot  more of us in a few hours. If you have Fable2 and played Oblivion you really don't need to rush.

edit: OH crap I forgot to put early game spoiler.... sorry.

Someone asked about the Co-op.. just to be brief if your invited into a co-op game your character is not carried over nore your items. you are basically hired help, "Henchman" as the game puts it..

Before the quest go on you can select from a pre set character man or woman with different skill sets there must have been 6-8 to chose from. I did not really take note because obviously I was looking for my character. The Host then chooses how the loot will be split up and how much you get paid per game hour.

The story will continue as normal single player game, story, quest, jobs and so on. The guest in the game can not activate any sequence of events, jobs or open any treasures only spectate. They are basically just there to help you fight...I did this for an hour with my brother and as limited as it sounds it was actually fun.  except for when he took on the tree cutting job I just watched him cut wood they did not even give me the benefit of the arch with the ball he have to line up so I can laugh when he missed.

The game it self is a lot of fun with funny moments the photographer so far has been my funniest moment.  I am having some freezing issue not sure if its my 360 or the game as yet but I will let you know as I narrow it down.
