Assassin's Creed 2 (360)...might not get around to playing it right away though.  i'm pretty confident that it's going to be a good game, but Dragon Age is my priority now that i've finished the MW2 campaign.

I have to agree with Farley.  On Normal, you get so overwhelmed.  4 against 16 is not fair and not fun.  I've been trying to solve this one Chantry Board mission that is near impossible unless you drop down to casual.  Seriously.  9 Hillocks attacking with 4-5 archers around the perimeter firing at my party and a Hulk Emissary throwing magic at me from the distance.  Impossible.  Even planning and using tactics.  Impossible.  Had to drop to casual to beat it.  And the next one, my party of four was slaughtered by a pack (i.e., 14 fang wolves).  Really?  All at once?

Awesome game but the combat is ridiculously hard on Normal and too simple on Casual.  I'm so pissed right now.  A fun time is not had by repeating a battle over and over again pushing for almost an hour of real time.  Not fun.

I thought the same thing until I started messing with the tactics for the AI characters.  First thing, you absolutely need a healer.  I use Wynne as mine and her healing spells are maxed out.  She has a group heal as well as a revive spell that can bring you back to life.  So set a mage to heal when you are 50% or lower and you will rarely die, just make sure to set her to drink a potion when she runs out of mana.

Seriously, the tactics feature is one of the best things I've found in this game and I hardly ever die anymore, even in the real tough boss battles.

I know the mission you talk of I died 4 times then adjusted my tactics and went through it on normal with no losses... Tactics is king learn it well I took about 30min setting mines up to get it right.

Thanks for all the info guys I got a Signature Gourmet drip coffee maker, powder creamer hazel nut and a vanilla, and a bag of eight o'clock 100% Colombian I think its medium roast. I do plan on trying other brand and as some suggested staying away from the flavored beans. I have a French vanilla Liquid Creamer at work which I admit tast much better that the powder stuff which still is not bad.
I am just confused by the fact that the suggested goal from you guys was to get to the regular no sugar or creamer taste of the coffee...WHY? its horrible.. Thank god for creamers and lots of sugar.
I guess time will tell though.

Thanks again my coffee is now bearable, I dont know what I was doing wrong. I will continue experimenting with brands and flavor creamers to fine the one I like most. May actually go to a Starbucks now see what the hype is about.
129  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Coffee Help please.. 2 Years Later on: October 20, 2009, 03:45:10 AM
Ok hear the deal I have always hated the smell of coffee and the one time I tasted it, it was like taking a really good laxative. I will admit I had know idea what I was doing and more than likely did not mix it correctly.
For the past 2-3 years I been boosted aweak by 5 hour energy and when its cold some lipton tea with a side of 5hr energy.
Just last week at a doctors visit he advised me to stop taking 5hr energy because it is over working my heart so much so to the point I have to go back in a week or so when it is flushed out of my body so he can get an accurate read on my heart beat. My wife whom have been saying that I am addicted to 5hr and constantly advise I stop taking it for months now. have become the parole officer making sure I stick to doctor orders. It is more than certain I will not be allowed to touch 5hr ever again. I have turned to coffee to satisfy my body need for caffeine, I rather not drink soda if your wondering. Its been 7 years Soda free excluding the occasional mix drinks (Rum and Coke for the WIN). To the point.
What is the best Coffee for beginners? Brand? type and Flavor Creamers? type of roast? and how exactly is the best way to mix it.
I rather not be grinding any beans right now Thankyou. At work they have a Maxwell house in a Blue bag, and when my mother in law visits she gets eight o'clock brand Brown Bag.

damn, that's not reassuring.  the kotaku review called it bore-derlands in sp and the game really only shines with co-op.  are you getting that impression too?
The grinding like any other game gets repetitive, same people in the same places in the same positions and the sub missions are starting to repeat now just in different areas. The tone is an ambient tone that will put you to sleep but it fits the game for some weird reason. think elevator music (instrumental).
I have yet to see a gun that's like wow,,,  I am on a mission to finish this game before Dragon Age release because if I don't it will join the backlog of uncompleted games. I haven't touched the other characters so I will see what people have to say tomorrow. maybe the soldier is limited.

This game have that Mass Effect issue, you know the one when a level loads your like WTF then it cleans up in like 5-8sec and I have the latest processor 65nm I think it is. So be warned It may be better if you install the game.
I am kind of a good ways in the game now so I am unable to see what happens if I start a new character. The save system over writes your last save no matter how you change the name so I don't want to chance it and lose where I am at
So can someone tomorrow take one for the team and test this?
I ve found some artifacts that adds some sort of perks but have yet to try them this may add a little more ump to the rpg part of this game. I just hate the fact I cant build my guns ( that I ve seen yet) the shops sucks and the drop items are still bellow my lvl. I feel so restricted. Yet I  cant put this game down I just what to make that next lvl. where are my bazillions GUNS?????? Taking the same gun and adding 1 more attack point to it should not count as a different gun. This is my only dislike so far I was looking for new innovative types of guns..  well I will keep trucking on.
Did I mention this game spawns like crazy? It not the crazy spawning like things keep coming if you dont move. but if you cleard out and area and move on or far enough when you get back it will respawn the to what it previously was. Good for power lvling. Sucks if your under powered which you will be alot.

it's all run and gun though.  actually, that makes me kind of bummed.  i was hoping for something more advanced than quake 1 gameplay.

how are the driving/vehicular combat aspects?

I think I may have overreacted when I heard Fallout.  I could not stand the shooting mechanics in that game and the animations;stiffest and worst mo-cap I have see this gen.  If the shooting is spot on, like say Halo or Vegas or Uncharted, then I will probably get it.  That is what I am waiting to hear.  I also am not a big fan of 'open' games that just drop you and say figure out where the hell the main story is.  If I have to talk to 300 people to get to the main story to 'save the world' so-to-speak, then  I won't like it.  Will rent for sure just to find out.
From the previews and interviews I've read, that is not this game.  It's much more shooter than RPG.  The shooting mechanics are primary. There are no dialog trees. I actually think a lot of RPG guys will be disappointed by Borderlands' shooter focus.  In fact, from one of the recent interviews with Pitchford, he sounds like he hates the same things you hate. smile

The only major RPG element I ve seen in the game so far is adding point to you SKILL set. and lvl-ing up I do how ever have a mission to look for some crystals that can be added to my weapon as a mod.
One thing that is for sure with this game is the side missions, I personally stick to the main story and may only do a side mission when I dont have much time but want to play a game. This game you have no choice really, you do but you don't. each mission (main story) requires a certain lvl to although you can still play a lvl 17 mission as a lvl 10 character I don't care what kind of badass you think you is, your going get your ass handed to you even if its 2 lvl above you. The lack of a good cover system and strategic play will see to that. This is a run and shoot um game with bad guys taking up to 3 clips to die and coming at you from all sides. You will be playing side mission to lvl up.
134  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Borderlands - Discussions, previews and interviews on: October 17, 2009, 05:12:43 AM
I am 2 hours into the game now and took out my "first big Challenge"  saywhat any way Pete I know how you feel. The Graphics of this game grows on you, personally I feel its a step down for the detail in Crack Down but I can be wrong its being a while since I played a Cell Shaded game. So far I feel like I am playing fallout 3 with a different art work, and this 87 Bazillion Guns crap I already ran into 11 guns thats the same damn thing with different names exp. pistol, heavy pistol, super heavy pistol, basuper heavy pistol. WTF all with the same art work. They boost different atk lvls which I am suspect of so far. I dont see any difference.
If you played Fallout 3 you already know the mechanics of this game. go to city talk to person of interest, get quest from person of interest, complete quest and return for reward. Wash, rinse and repeat.
The map seems pretty big and then so far for the first quest. I was sent to a sub map that was also good size and of that map my quest took part in the first 1/3 of it. I probably could have explored but what ever.
People who like to pick stuff up will love this, cause there are stuff stashed every where bullets, money, guns and so on.
You gain lvl RPG style which allows for you to use better weapons and armor and maybe other stuff. There is a Skills Tree to develope you skills in infantry, support and medic. 7 icons each with upto 5 increase ability. Your first is a scorpio turret ala HALO with a blue shield you can use to cover while the turret fires away.
Your character develops a weapon proficiencies by using a certain type of weapon frequently ( The on I have so far Combat Rifle gives me a +6% reload speed.) some weapons have special abilities such as fire or 100% melee combat damage and maybe more seen as I have 76 Bazillion more to go.
The game so far is fun and anyone who enjoy shooter and loved fallout but don't mind the art work should give this a try, of course I cant comment on the multiplayer because the game is not out yet but there is a challenge arena for friends and split screen option for local play.
I dont see where you can turn off the dmg counter as someone mentioned a few post up.
I will be playing off and on for the weekend  + uncharted2 and Brutal Legend.
Hit me up if you want more detailed info on the game or have any questions...

As for the Pirate comments, No I don't Pirate, its the real deal. The game been in stores for over a week now. Here is the situation. I have RE5 because I paid for it 8 months prior to its release (I don't know what got me so excited) I got the call a week after it came out from the store manager, so I felt obligated to picking it up. Since that day its being sitting here on my shelf in its shrink wrappings with me having no desire to play it what so ever. On the other hand I have been waiting for Halo Wars and H.A.W.X for ever from Gamefly and I am really growing impatience waiting for its availability.
Is it worth exchanging RE5 for
Which game of the two will be worth the exchange of RE5? or should I be more excited about RE5 because it has more to offer?
I would get H.A.W.X for the PS3 because I have AceCombat on the 360

Edited to correct H.A.W.K.S TO H.A.W.X.

The Don view does add another layer to the game and if abused can make the game way too easy and the game doesn't seem that difficult to begin with.
You beat me to it....I was about to say I now have 6 made men that been lvl up to medium status you can say. I am now sending them out in teams of 3 to take over business and fronts. I am now flying through these maps now. Sometimes I will go solo on side missions and let my two 3 man teams go out on there own. When I complete my task I may or may not assist any of whom seemed to be taking to long, or if the rival Don sent reinforcements of his own made men.
There are incentives to owning all of a particular front such as Bulletproof vest, Double daily income, Incendiary bullets and the list goes on. The rival Dons will just Bomb your businesses at this point, especially if they are low on made men. Haveing just one of the businesses out of commission will render the perk useless until it is repaired (there is a perk for quick repairs too).

3)I am in Florida and the hits on my business are increasing 10 folds in New York New Dons are trying to take over. Now I am sending Made men (out of the 3 I currently have) over there to defend because the goons guarding aint crap. While I am running solo in Miami on missions some of which I need the expertise of a made man that's defending a front NY. He cant be pulled out until it is over and it can be a while.  I hope This is where the under Boss will be assisting me soon.

those were my two big worries.  the pop in issue has me leaning towards the PC version, since the PC didn't have the GTA pop in issue (or it was fixed at some point as when I played GTA3 last year there wasn't any pop in), and the need to worry about properties in various cities isn't too appealing.  IIRC the first Godfather game didn't have that unless you instigated a gang war.

I dont understand why you think it will not be an issue with the PC versions...It coming out on the same day it may get fix before the actual launch day but I doubt it. Reason is yesterday when I first put it it there was already an update for the game.

What I don't mind but you may not like about the game that I've seen so far.
  • 1)Pop in, pop ins, pop ins. Remember GTAIII  Cars here one second and gone the other
  • 2)Your Made men have the ability to "telerport" This must have been put in to counter act any path finding issues. I am also suspect on some of the bad guys to. There is no explanation why I would get attack from a room I just cleared. The good news is they are not spawning guys because there is a set amount guarding the place, you will know this from your Don view.
  • 3)I am in Florida and the hits on my business are increasing 10 folds in New York New Dons are trying to take over. Now I am sending Made men (out of the 3 I currently have) over there to defend because the goons guarding aint crap. He cant be pulled out until it is over and it can be a while.  I hope This is where the under Boss will be assisting me soon.
  • 4)The cops stars ramp up mad quick (Patch needed) for some petty ass crimes. I got call out by a witness for beating up a guy (side mission) while escaping my made men started shooting at a cop car that was giving chase. In no time I had 4 stars FBI and the entire Police force boxing me in.  littered the car with bullets, blown it up  injuring my made men and arresting me. I did not stand a chance.
When your Made men are injured they are out for 12hours.
  • 5)need to add the ability to role with goons when your valuable made men is indisposed Jail, hospital, prison. You may ask cant you hire another one? yes you can but will you If I just spent 30Gs upgrading them? to start over with someone new for another 30G's?

For the Godfather movie lovers. Unlike part 1 This is Not part of the Movie.
The Godfather II game goes beyond the film's story by setting players in the world of organized crime in 1960's Florida, Cuba and New York.
After being promoted by Michael Corleone to Don of New York, players expand to new cities, as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal crime rings and defeating new families in an effort to become the most powerful mob family in America. To help players manage their empire, The Godfather II introduces "The Don's View" - an innovative strategy meta-game that allows players to oversee the entire world as they grow the family business. Using the Don's View, players will be able to build, defend and expand their crime rings, while keeping an eye on the movements and plans of the rival families. Players will also learn to master the business of organized crime by building a family of Made Men, hiring crew, handing out orders, and promoting their best men up the ranks.

nobody thinks you pirated furreal. we're just mad cause you gots it and we don't.

this.   + a billion

now, get back to the impressions, you lucky bastage

how well do the black hand controls seem now?  new moves?  what have you seen so far that ties into the movie?  (not too specific of course)

damn my luck, but i just know i won't be able to find this around me until next week.

The Black hand controls seemed a lot more exciting in the first game now that you mention it. I can grab, shake, head bot, Knee to the body, strangle with bare hands & thump (not Punch) Thump in the face. I am having a hard time bashing heads to the tables, wall or nearby items. I could be just doing it wrong.

New Moves?????
The Movie?????

I am sorry but its been sometime for me since the last game and even longer for the movie. I don't think this have any ties to the move at all.
The whole family tree and Don control is new but you all already know this.

Black hand capabilities seems to be an upgrade I have to learn so there maybe more to it than I first stated. There are various finishing moves you can perform.

Is the language rough in this one?  I just want to know whether or not I'll have an issue playing this around my wife (violence aside).

Yes, on the language. The nudity is up by 200% of that in all the GTA series combined. It feels like 75% or the rackets are strip joints. I whacked a guy beating down a lady in her birthday suit in an ally. Why she was naked in the first place? I don't have a clue. May have been an attempted rape, but the nudity is huge.

See...now they're losing me. There were a few swear words in the original and IIRC there were a few women in underwear...

Yeah...sorry there boobs every where they put lace-granny-panties to cover the "P" if that helps

Will someone who doesn't like GTA and most GTA type games (except Mafia) and loves the Godfather movies like this game?  I didn't play the first one.

Its hard for me to answer that because its so much like GTA with so much more control that you don't want to class it with GTA. IF you ever played Gangsters 1 or 2 this is the 3D version of that game.
