Still watching this, is anyone else? I've actually been enjoying the recent eps more than the pilot. I think with the bounty hunter on earth, there's a good little subplot that they can spend some time exploring.

That's encouraging!! Golf is hard!

Does the swing react 1:1 like in Wii Golf (or better)?

Can I pull the remote back, hip high and then swing from there and the guy you are controlling does the same thing or is it like last year when it didn't mattter what you did?

Do you need to hold and release a button to swing?

The swing is a bit more intuitive I felt that Wii golf (which seems to have been dumbed down a bit). It made it cooler, but also harder obviously. As far as practice shots, tehre's actually a button you have to push to take practice shots, so we had a few mess ups coming right over from wii golf. We'd line up and think we were taking a practice swing but would end up belting out a shot that we didn't want to take. Happened a fair amount of times..that takes some getting used to. I beleive you have to hold the B button if you want to swing at all, practice or not, so you shouldn't worry about accidentally hitting the ball, just that sometimes you'd think you're practicing because you didn't read the screen and you get caught.

I've found this looks a bit akin to The Transporter 2. The movie didn't really make any sense or was over the top many times, but it left you with some action sequences that you can watch and say "aw cool"

as long as it's better than Crank....
That movie was terrible and all the "Sweet action" that a few of my friends had told me was in it was either laughably unrealistic or so predictable that I saw it coming minutes before.

Aliens >Alien.  There I said it.  Give me Space Marines and Aliens any day of the week

Agreed. I had a long post over at GoneGold on my love of the films where I dissected each one and how they worked or didn't work in their respective genres. For the sake of brevity, I'll just say I agree with you and wish the third and fourth ones didn't suck as much as they do. I think Alien 3 gets a bad rap because it followed Aliens moreso than by being a bad film (which it really isn't) but Alien Resurrection was just loopy. You can see where Joss Whedon tested a lot of Firefly though if you watch it with that in mind.
Agreed about alien3. I've been trying to make the arguement that Alien3 isn't really a bad film for years and not too many people have agreed. I personally thought it was good.

Funny that 2K and EA have seemed to switch places, especially this year.

While NCAA, Madden, Tiger, and apparently, NHL have been making big steps forward, 2K has been giving us the same old games for a few years.
I don't really think Madden has been making many steps forward although this year's version has made a few. It seems like a constant cycle of either company reigning atop for a few years then getting complacent then the underdog takes over, and the cycle repeats. At least with NHL games.

Yeah I was going to recommend the same thing. If you're a sports fan, this is worth picking up. As has been said before Resistance is pretty good. If you can stand to playu another WW2 shooter I guess COD3 is pretty good. I personally just felt like I had done this so many times before. However, if nothing else, it looks just great in HD.

I still think it's kind of a sell out to cross these universes together. Made for some great games, but there's no story there to construct a movie out of. As we can clearly see from the first one.

I'm really enjoying the atmosphere, the story line, the environment, sheesh it's a great game. Better than Oblivion, because the storyline is so interesting and the graphics so immersive.

I'll give you the graphics are slightly more immersive, but storywise neither is going to win any awards. However, Oblivion I got 80+ hours out of.  this one, not so much.  I'm just finishing the Apartments at maybe 15 hours at the most, and I'll be surprised if there are 5 more hours left.  I don't think I've missed anything during my run through either.
Really? I love the story personally. I think it's pretty cool to read about the society they formed and try to find out why it fell apart. Plus it's cool to find out backstory on the splicers.

I liked a lot of the mechanics in the demo (particularly the cover system, weapon sounds, weapon feel, etc) but for the life of me I can't bring myself to play another game where my objective is take out several AA emplacements.  I don't think I've been able to enjoy a WW2 FPS since the original Call of Duty.
I know what you mean, it's personally all been downhill since MOH:AA. I tried COD3 on my buddies' PS3 but it was just the same old same old over and over again.

Stopped by a Gamestop in a busy mall in California to ask how the preorders were going for Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band.  The gal there said that she was getting more Guitar Hero preorders by far, pointing out that it's just a bit harder to sell people on "just $5 down now, and $195 when you pick it up!"

If I were Harmonix I'd be trying to convince people that even just the guitar portion of Rock Band is superior to the entirety of Guitar Hero 3.  The full RB equipment set is intimidating to buy, but if you can get your foot in the door with the base game--even sans guitar, taking advantage of the GH guitar install base--the RB peripherals and DLC addiction will come.
Yeah, I agree it's been the biggest reason that I haven't gone after a copy of it to this point. It also seems to be the overwhelming consensus among my friends. Perhaps we'll chip in and get a copy or two between the 6 or so of us, that wouldn't be a bad investment because this game looks awesome frankly.

Speedburst-speedburst-speedburst up the boards-stop at the top of the circles-pass to the slot-one timer-repeat

It was never like this for me.  I simply turned the speed burst off in the slider settings.  I never use speed burst as I rely on the speed ratings of my players.  I had such an incredible variety of goals all season long in 2K7.  I also play with player lock on, controlling the center, since that gives me the most realistic outcomes.

I thought both games were incredibly fun to play.  NHL 07 because of the skill stick and 2K7 because of the skating engine, which sucked in NHL 07.

I am excited for both NHL games this year and will be getting both without hesitation.  I'm just happy that EA's game has finally caught up to 2K7 and now I have two hockey games each year to enjoy!
Agreed, my one bigger beef with 07 was that the physics of skating didn't really make any sense, but it certainly looks as if they have gone a long way towards fixing it this year. I mean you couldn't skate anythign but all out, it made defnese near impossible.

After deleting the demo I decided to re-download it and try again to see why it was not grabbing me.  Let me head off the snide remarks first:  no, I do not need a game to have gothic clad beautiful women with witch-like powers to enjoy the game.  There.

I played the demo again last night how I should play these games:  slowly, methodically and with feeling.  I definitely enjoyed it much more.  The first time I played the demo I just jumped in because of the universal hype and praise for the demo.  When I take a game like this slow I can appreciate it more.  And I had a great time.  Therefore, I'm off to Circuit City today to get the $10 off and pick it up - assuming they have some copies.

I have a question though.  Can you play the game without using Plasmids at all?  I assume you cannot because in the demo you can't open that one door without the electrify Plasmid.  I would love to try to play the game through without using Plasmids because if I was stuck in that situation I would never inject a syringe into myself and risk turning into one of the unfortunate denizens of Rapture myself.  It goes against my nature.  Heck, I played both KOTOR's without once ever taking any of those enhancing drug things.  It would be nice if the designers gave you that option of trying to get through the game without using Plasmids.  Any thoughts on this?

I think you're genre-bending a bit. What you're describing is a RPG, which BS isn't. I know what you're saying, and appreciate your sense of role-playing a game the way you would react if it were a real life situation. I think to have an atmospheric FPS some things have to be left out. There are limited role playing opportunities within BS, you'll know them when you get to them in game.
But at its core BS is a straight up horror shooter.
There are certianly RPG elements there, so it's really hard to label it as a pure shooter. Damn immersive game though, I have to say with lights off and sound up I'm squealing like a girl when something comes to get  me.   icon_wink

I can't play GH2 without playing me some Sweet Child O' Mine. Never gets old. icon_biggrin

SCoM is the one song I don't replay.  I just detest Guns N' Roses.  *shudder*

I was afraid I had overplayed it in my youth and would have to force myself to play through it to finish the game. Fortunately years of staying away from that song have allowed me to enjoy it again.

War Pigs is my current must play GH2 song for each session.
That song grew on me as I continued to play. I will say though, it doesn't change it from being damn hard.

I don't know if they do it in this one, but he told me a bit about one book, where Bourne comes out of retirement because somebody is going around doing stuff and saying they are him.
Yeah, he knows what happened by the end of the firstbook if I recall correctly.

I liked the first ep though, and to be honest people weren't that keen on Ming, but I thought Ralston did a good job with him. He looks like he could get pretty ruthless. You also see him driving the "triple the cost" bargain at the beginning of the episode, meaning he's pretty much in control of a lot.
