swtor. only 4 lvls to go, but probably won't it this weekend.
122  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic announced on: January 12, 2012, 10:57:01 AM
the killing of 3-5 mobs is becoming draining and multiplied by a crazy fast spawn. 5 more levels, but god damn the personal dungeon spawns needs to be halved. most of the time i say fuck it, die and port out. whatever cash is flowing water no loss.

finally started to run into sith, unfortunately it's usually 2 or 3 at a time. so meh.

they really need to focus on fixing the ability delay. it absolutely makes healing in pvp an impossibility. ok, not impossible, but combined with the delay of unit frames updating and that people die more than they should. i almost can not pvp with the current method, it's just plain broken.

thank god about higher res textures. their excuse was bullshit. we don't need to be pampered about what our pcs can handle. don't take my options away, this isn't a console bullshit port.

space missions finally getting challenging. i somehow did not realize the power converter thingie was purchasable at a lower level. they really need to get their sorting list working right. i thought every ship upgrade you buy with commendations was 50. apparently that was 20'ish. so beating higher level missions w/o it makes me feel good i guess.

ah is still a mess, but i'm absolutely making a killing on it. it can be an extra 20-50k a day depending on how much i play in a day to run missions. people pay fairly well for purple missions. other bullshit stuff i get i put for 500-1000 and they usually sell within a day or 2. when i found out you can't go from speeder 1 to 3 at 50 i purchased 2 right away. when i did i had 800k, this was 2 days ago. i'm now almost back to 800k. this is a massive change from barely being able to afford speeder 1. people cry slicing was nerfed, you're doing it wrong.

i really hope bioware makes their planets more alive. we need a day/night cycle and some weather. when wow got weather is vastly changed how stale the world felt. i was on hoth with no snow. i guess that's pretty accurate to the weather in real life, but what? how do you have hoth with no snow? might as well make it rain tattooine!

the sage story is pretty good so far, it's like when chapter 3 hit shit went bonkers. finally got some companions i don't hate personality wise. nadia is awesome and just destroys. i got her a new double blade saber today but haven't tried it yet. plus her personality isn't that of bread.

it's like a lot of minor easily fixed things are holding this game back from greatness. my priority for things to fix should be
ability delay. this is absolutely game breaking right now
UI, i said enough a lot
make the worlds feel alive and different from each other.
and as a long shot. they game really needs branching leveling paths. I've messed around with a few alts here and there and just pretty much space bar things. but then I find i'm tired of this planet because it's literally the same quests. again and until i hit 50. i would give them a pass if the worlds didn't feel so dull. if someone told me these were hand crafted as much as wow's i'd call them a liar. and i'm sure bioware claims this too.

despite all this it's still fairly fun or maybe i'm just starved for a scifi mmo, or game in general.
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Final Fantasy XIII-2 on: January 11, 2012, 09:10:31 AM
enjoyed the demo. I think i was a bit under leveled for atlas, I sorta rushed through because GSL was on and only played about an hour.

Keeping preorder.

Well, if you haven't played 13, some things won't make sense as you won't know what a falcie or a cie'th and stuff like that are. I want to say there's something in the game to get players up to speed though, but not sure. I mean, it would just be logical to do so.

I don't buy it at all.  I have a really hard time believing that a company as polished as Blizzard would let the worldwide release date for one of the biggest PC games in history slip at a Milwaukee Best Buy.

this at a milwaukee one? do you know which one. if it's close i can check it out. also, spelling mistakes are common on stuff like that.

i doubt feb 1st is real though. but apparently only the rating in south korea is holding the game from launching.

i'm also getting a bit bored of the questing. kill this, collect that. the world just feels so dead too. the server is listed as heavy to full even at 2am and yet i see no one. a pvp server is useless because i've seen a sith 3 times. there's just no sense of danger of having to watch my back. makes questing even more boring. i'm only lvl 34, i assume that's about average for people who play a few hours a day since early access. monday was really the only day i've played for a long stretch since then too. this phasing thing for the world is stupid and needs to go like right now.

I think you're way, way ahead of the curve.  I've been playing since the first 15 minutes of early release and since I'm on Winter Break, I've put in a huge amount of time -- /played says over 7 days! -- and I'm only a few levels over you at 38.  Our 76 person guild shows only 9 players over 30.

I don't think most of the higher level planets are currently being phased.  Right now, for example, I am in the only Hoth instance and there are only 34 players on.  And that's with a Heavy load on one of the most popular servers out there (The Harbringer) -- it is admittedly early in the morning, but our server load is still Heavy and we are one of the unofficial Oceanic servers.

sure doesn't feel like it. i'm not in a big guild, but there's already 5 people who hit 50. game is pretty easy to level. Still the world feels very dead. Pretty sure republic and imperials have no overlapping quests that bring world pvp to each other. and if they do, guess it doesn't seem like it.

oh, luckily some of the stories are sort of interesting because at times i get pretty bored doing essentially the same quests for the last 37 levels. i can't be bothered to sit and spam for groups all day either. so hopefully bioware gets a real looking for group system and not a 15 year old one that never worked.

jedi sage's get the worst companions in the game. qyzen is just meh, all he talks about are stupid points and half the time i have no idea what he's saying because i can't be bothered to look at the chat. tharan is just, gah, no thanks. i'd rather have holiday, she at least has a personality. plus her stun is awesome, he's really only useful for elites. i haven't officially gotten this zeneth or wahtever dude yet, but i can tell he's just going to be equally annoying personality wise. plus he's useless to me skill wise as well.

qyzen is only useful because he tanks like a boss and my heals are more than enough for elites.

How do you pronounce the name of this game?

One great thing about Japanese is that pronunciation is so straightforward.  It's not at all like English where the pronunciation rules are totally fucked.  According to Steam the katakana spelling of the name is ルセッティア ~ア which translates to RES SEH TEAR (the first two parts pronounced like like the first two parts of "recipe"

Maybe it's a combination of something like "recipe" and "Musketeer"?

I think they're trying to evoke "racketeer".

that's exactly what they are doing.

ugh, found another UI annoyance. you can't set the ship key separately. i use strafe left/right instead of turn. if you unbind left and right turn you can't move your ship. also, W appears to be permanently up and down won't remap to your down key. i don't recall these issues in the beta at all.

A quick tip - If you enjoy money, slicing is the way to go craftingwise... Its a bit annoying actually, but people are making money, a LOT of money on that crafting skill, simply be sending out companions on missions, and selling the loot.

My Jedi Guardian is lvl 23 by, and I'm on the EU rp-pvp server, Lord Calypho or somesuch in case any Euroes wanna hook up.
The bonus quests does that I'm horribly overlevelled for Nar Shadan but oh well, I havent any done very much pvp or spacecombat, which I find somewhat fun!

I have a feeling I will be very overlevelled in a short time, the way this is going.

i dropped a trade skill to get slicing because I was running into money issues and the AH is unusable. That's the downside of slicing and it's fairly big since w/o my other skill i can't craft any synthweaving w/o buying the mats. it's not too big of a deal right now though, i rather have my speeder in about .5 levels, which i will.

right away the article is a failure. pc gaming is not mega expensive. be fucking smart about it. pc i put together 4 years ago plays skyrim on ultra along with some HD texture mods. the only original piece i changed is a GPU and it's about 2 gens behind current gens, plus that was 200 bucks on sale, cheaper the original gpu i bought.

wtf is this? 3 years? does he just throw away his computer and start over? This goes back to be fucking smart. jesus christ IGN is awful. I could upgrade my pc every year if i wanted to, but why? No games take advantage of 64bits, no games take advantage(or very little do) of 4 gigs of ram, and barely any games will utilize the current and upcoming gen of GPUs. Why are you upgrading every 3 years for something that won't come?
My conclusion, this guy is a fucking hack.

Ok, why are you including tv and monitor cost? odds are you have those, probably multiples of one. i got a 42 last year for 400 bucks. those have to be 200 by now. if you don't have a tv you aren't gaming because you can't afford it. unless you suddenly appear in the world at 18 years old, you have a tv before a console, same with a monitor.
my god.
who fucking buys extra controllers? if you have friends coming over to play MP odds are they have a console and their own. most people aren't going to just buy extra controllers right away.

no one pays MSRP for games  icon_lol

once again IGN proves how fucking retarded they are with no research. I could write a better and longer article than(see, that's used correctly) this hack.

I'll have to echo Skyrim has biggest surprise. I wasn't a fan of any bethesda games until fallout 3. and the elder scroll games I tend to bore of within hours, yet for some reason I felt compelled to buy this too. Maybe cause it's been so long since I've played an epic rpg, maybe a part of me thought things looked better, or maybe i just like wasting money sometimes. I even went so far as to get a proxy for an austrialian IP and unlock the game about 15 hours early. But within a few hours I was totally hooked. The combat was much improved, could still use work though. The improved leveling system was way less convoluted. It actually ran well(until recent patches in which case I just reverted to 1.0 exe). 90 hours later, still going strong.

Disappointment LA noire. meh, i finished it, but about 40% of the way through, i was ready for it to end. Just everything about the game was half assed outside the voice actors. Driving awful, shooting awful, story meh, the investigations were a crap shoot in your choices.
145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III on: December 05, 2011, 08:32:10 PM
had a chance to play the beta this weekend. I played a monk and they were a lot of fun. The spirit system works nicely. Do smaller attacks to build it up then unleash your powerful attacks on hordes of enemies. I was constantly getting bonuses for killing 10+ mobs in a single explosion or killing 20+ in whatever time limit they have.

I like how the crafting is much more fleshed out too. It's the basic mmo formula, but I guess beats putting things in a cube.
146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 12/2/11 on: December 03, 2011, 07:59:02 AM

151  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic announced on: November 29, 2011, 08:41:56 PM
there's a folder called retail your star wars directory, totally knew this was coming.

So I'm quite shocked the bioware seems to be ignoring the UI complaints. I honestly expected there to be something different given the few months apart from the last weekend i tested.

It is near impossible to heal in pvp. They still put the frames way off the left, this draws your focus out of the action and to the side of your monitor. Healing frames should always, ALWAYS be in the middle, or at least have the fucking option to move things around. Which is another point. let me move my ui. The healing frames are also delayed. They do not update in real time. There's no indication where people are relative to you. You just get a message, that you'll miss because you aren't looking there, that says not in line of sight. Or maybe there's arrows, but again, you'll looking to the far left. This means you miss the hoard of people running to you. By the time you see them, it's too late. There's also no indication you're low on mana/energy until you try to heal and you're wondering why you aren't casting. Could also be solved by MOVING THE DAMN BARS TO THE CENTER.

I honestly feel this UI is going to turn off so many healers. It's not even close to be functional. The fixes are simple enough they could be in before retail.

Since I leveled one char this time I got to just shy of 18. I stopped sorta late sunday because I played what I wanted to do and skyrim was calling again. I played a smuggler this time around and it was fairly fun. The gun play was so-so. It didn't feel as exciting as a force wielder, almost like a turn base game where we trade shots. I obviously went with the healing AC, scoundrel I think. My only healing experience was PvP. I didn't do any flashpoints because I want my ship. Because of the energy method of healing I think they may struggle in flashpoints if there's a crap ton of AE damage. So hopefully they stay from the blizzard method of thinking healers love this and it adds difficulty(hint: we don't and it doesn't). They should be boss healers in raids and pvp keeping 1 or 2 tanks alive. Then again, I could be wrong because hey, no one is at level cap and have done the raids.

What does this game do right? quite a few things. The addition of fleshed out stories for one. Some of these, given bioware's recent writing, are quite good. Others hit or miss. The dark/light side choices are fairly good as well. I'm sure we've all experienced at least one so no need to dig deep. I messed around with crafting and actually quite like it. You just send your companion off to get mats and make the item. Once you get two, you can send one off and fight with the other. The pvp games were pretty fun.

This game though, it has issues. First a few graphic gripes. The textures are ugly. I understand they want a wide range of setups, but could ya least include a scale? It's like i get to choose between crap, or slightly less blurry crap. Not a big deal, but I like armor that does look semi good. Also, things are very blocky.
Judging from being a much higher level than previously, this game is very theme parkish. Things have their set themes and color pallets and that's what you get for the next 5 levels. Doing a quick glance at the later planets pretty much confirms you're on an on rails leveling experience, which means leveling an alt will seem booooring. The quests are also kill/collect. Though no one seems to have solved this. Oh but I have! Just do away with leveling already. It's dated, it's boring. Alas, I'll never have my true skill based game though.
The world is static and doesn't feel alive. NPCs just stand around. Hardly any move. There's a very surprising lack of ships flying overhead in coruscant. The world isn't populated much when you're out questing. In fact, I think it's a little too sparse in the open world
Space combat is on rails and very, very easy frown I hope we get an expansion with full blown space battles for pvp. If done right that would guarantee by 15 bucks for a long time.
Only 2 bars at the bottom for quick slots is not enough. Hotkeying your bars is cumbersome. here you go bioware, click a bind hotkey button, hover mouse over a button, click a key. Done. I have to navigate way too much to hotkey stuff

I'll still be picking this up. If anything a months time would be worth it. Though I hope there's some staying power. there's a very big been there, done that vibe, which is a by product of copying WoW too much.
