1  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Later fellas! on: September 04, 2010, 01:03:28 AM
Been here for several years and for the most part, the people are great.....but, I'm really tired of the ganging up and the associated bullshit that a few certain posters enjoy throwing my way, so I'm outta here, not going to come back. To the folks that are my friends (and you know who you are) thank, to the assholes,  finger .

Later!

I'm done here. Now, later, forever.

This is the last straw, I'm tired of it, and I'm going to ask one of the mods to lock my account.

Eh, you guys can believe what you want, but in my circle of friends, nobody is buying Lady Gaga, Reba McEntire, or any of this other trash their feeding us. They want Zeppelin, they want GnR, they want more Southern Rock type stuff, they want classic rock, even more Metal. I still think they're holding back the goods for RB3, but that's just me.

You do know that the full list for RB3 has been released, no?

And as for you and your friends, they aren't exactly a representative sample.  Zeppelin is being held up by Zeppelin and noone else.  GnR is likely the same.  You got Chinese Democracy.  Most bands aren't keen to release their whole catalog in one fell swoop, not to mention the rights issues to the back stuff, as I know Axl and the others aren't exactly on the best terms.  And as for metal, I come across plenty when I'm skimming the marketplace.

As for everyone else, you might start by looking at this year's Number One singles:

"Tik Tok" - Ke$ha
"Imma Be" - Black Eyed Peas
"Break Your Heart" - Taio Cruz featuring Ludacris
"Rude Boy" - Rihanna
"Nothin' on You" - B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars
"OMG" - Usher featuring will.i.am
"Not Afraid" - Eminem
"California Gurls" - Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
"Love the Way You Lie" Eminem featuring Rihanna

You and your friend's musical tastes aren't the ones driving the music world as a whole these days.

A perfect example of why todays music sucks. All this hip-hop bullshit is ruining instrument music. I fucking hate it.

Quote
Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" has been the number one selling track for Rock Band DLC that's been released in 2010 so far. According to the leaderboard score tracker on keldon.net, it's registered over 80,000 unique scores on all three consoles.

Number two is "Poker Face", number three is the Cartman version of "Poker Face", and number four is "Just Dance". Slots five through seven are taken up by Blink-182, "Adam's Song", "I Miss You", and "First Date" respectively, number eight is White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army", nine is Disturbed's "The Game", and ten is Megadeth's "Hangar 18". (I'm not counting "Bulls on Parade" or "Am I Crazy", as one was previously released as part of the Metal Track Pack, and the other is a free download -- but they would be nine and ten if they DID count).

So people do have different tastes, then.  How 'bout that!

But who buys music games, particularly guitar/drum games to play Lada Gaga? Rock/Hard Rock fans are the people that buy Rock Band and Guitar Hero. They might buy something like Lady Gaga also, but ya gotta remember who the primary gamers are for the game (hint, it ain't Lada Gaga fans). Take a poll of 100 Rock Band or Guitar Hero gamers and ask them what songs they want added to the game. I'll bet you any amount of money that there isn't one person that is dying for Alejandro or some other shit by Lady Gaga, when confronted with the possibility of having to give an answer to what song they want added.

We all might have different tastes, I get that, but this is a rock game, and what are they giving us lately? Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Lady Gaga. Give me a break. thumbsdown

They are giving you what they think people will buy.  And since Lady Gaga is selling, I'd venture to guess they quite happy with their results.

No one gives a shit about internet polls.  They give a shit about $$$.

I don't think for a second they believe people are clammoring for Lady Antebellum and Reba McEntire. Did you hear many cheers for the Lady Gaga releases on the Internet? I didn't....heard a shitload of groans though.

I heard a bunch of cash registers going CHAFUCKINCHING.

A lot of people buy her albums too....doesn't mean it belongs in a game called "ROCK" Band.

You obviously have insider information about the quality of Gearbox' changes to the game. Care to share beyond "It's gonna suck though"?

I think what he meant was that it doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of living up to its expectations.  It could fart rainbows and we'll probably all think 'we waited 14 years for this??

Sort of, yeah, that's part of what I was saying, but really, unless they completely started over, and I don't think that happened, I can't believe the game is going to be a AAA title.

Name a game that has gone through a tremendous amount of developer strife that has come out and genuinely been a top notch quality game. The whole saga with DNF just screams epic fail.

Your logic doesn't hold up against Lady Gaga being the number one selling DLC.

Look at what people have had a choice of this year though.....this is easily the weakest "Rock" year of the game. I still think most people are holding off on DLC and that's why you see the casual crowd (the folks that have picked up the game on the cheap in 2010) buying a lot of DLC and buying a lot of "Pop" type stuff. I bet I have bought 1/2 as much DLC for RB as I did in '09.

Music taste is subjective.  And your own opinions on songs are your opinions. I have no problem with that.  I have no problems with voicing those opinions, either.

But it goes beyond that.  Sweeping, dismissive statements week after week after week are what get me.  The fact that Harmonix continues to put stuff out to make subsets of their audience happy is phenomenal.  Chaz posting on here has nothing to do with that.  Do I like all of them?  Hell, no.  But I know that music taste is subjective and someone will like them, so more people will keep playing and Harmonix can continue to make a great game.  And the next week, I'll look for something that I do like.  And I can keep playing this great game.

I don't get why the hell you still care, jblank.  The negativity just comes every damned week.  I can't remember the last time Harmonix pleased you.  Looking at the list wonderpug posted, I just can't imagine how it's possible that you haven't liked anything.  I also can't imagine why you keep coming back if they've been so horrible so consistently.

Of course you're allowed to have a difference of opinion and voice it, but they way you do it is also important.  At some point, when you're always outnumbered as "everyone gangs up on you," you surely have to start wondering if it's maybe because you're quick to pull out the guns and start shooting.  Maybe the issue isn't every other person on this forum.

You're just exaggerating. I loved the Ozzy pack, that was the last group of songs I got all of. I bought a handfull of CCR songs, the Lady Gaga songs because my wife likes her, and the Ministry pack will be purchased. I CARE because it's the best damn music game out there and I love the game and what it offers. Because of that, when they waste opportunities and release Spongebob and junk like that, while at the same time ignoring some groups and songs that they need to release stuff from, I comment on it. I also rip them for ignoring songs and releasing less popular songs by artists.

Is that really what pisses you off? The fact that I want a game that I give a damn about to have better song choices? Jeez.

Wrong! I just get tired of seeing Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Nickelback, and shit that nobody has heard of or cares about. You guys are just butt buddies of Harmonix because someone is a member here that works there, so you kiss their collective asses rather than having a critical eye about stuff. Plus, you add me calling it like I see it and BLAM a chance to do everyone's favorite pastime, ganging up on me.

When the 1st Ministry pack was released you whined because Jesus Built My Hotrod wasn't in it.  Now pack 2 comes out with Jesus Built My Hot Rod, and you still bitch.  Concerning the Nickleback and Lady Gaga songs, they have actually sold better than the CCR songs according to what I have read.  So even though you and I hate them, there are plenty of people who disagree. If you want some great rock songs I'd suggest checking out Rock Band Network.  There are plenty of great rockers in there.   I just don't see the point in complaining about the DLC every week.  I still look forward to the announcement on every Friday morning.  Sure there are some duds on certain weeks.  But when you look at the big picture Harmonix has provided plenty of great songs for all tastes.

That isn't true at all. I have lobbied for Just One Fix and even said I was going to PURCHASE JBMH. Whatever though, keep defending the crap and kissing their ass.

The way they have been recently I should probably make one.

I get it though, RB3 is 2+ months away, so we're not gonna get great stuff right now (though if it's compatible with RB3, we should), but there have been so many great bands they have completely skipped, and so many bands where they've missed their best content, I just feel like the RB people/EA, have been a bit lazy and lackluster with their choices. I can't help it, the critic in me just sees them miss the mark 75% of the time on these content releases.

But yeah, the lady gaga and other stuff is totally awful and doesn't even fit the theme of the game. That reeks more of some contract thing than free will.

I'm just hoping RB3 picks up the good stuff again as the pro modes will be awesome.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate that.

I think jblank has a macro for responding to the weekly DLC thread.  slywink

Honestly, jblank, what the hell is your mark?

I guess he thinks that Harmonix can just go to any band and demand any piece of music, irrespective of conditions of the masters, price of obtaining the piece, possible reluctance of the band to give rights to that particular song, etc. I imagine that they would love to have some of these bands give up their best songs, but I bet there is a great deal that goes on behind the scenes with these negotiations that we have no clue about.

If it wasn't for the Trading Forum and a few decent people that are here, I would just fucking leave this place and the lot of you forever.

Aren't Stigmata and JBMH two of Ministry's biggest hits?

If we are getting Ministry those would be 2 I would expect to get.

I knew you'd say that.

Yes, that might be the case, but that doesn't mean that for the last two years it's been like that. Getting something right one time, doesn't mean perfection every time.

EDIT - On second thought, excluding "Just One Fix" is a big mistake, since that is right there with the others (and a better song in my opinion)

Ministry 3 pack this week. Not for me but maybe for you?

Quote
Ministry – “Stigmata”
Ministry – “Thieves”
Ministry – “Jesus Built My Hotrod”

Also a few RBN songs I'll be grabbing:

Entertain - Sleater-Kinney

Meh....probably in for Jesus Built My Hotrod....the rest....junk.

Nothing here.  My machine would probably choke on SCII.  Maybe I'll just load up the original...

My "gaming PC" is a 3 year old Dell laptop with integrated video and a 1.8 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. It has no prayer of running SCII so I'll just keep playing the hell out of Civ IV since nothing good for consoles is out this week.

I was good, I answered (correctly I might add) as fast as humanly possible for most questions, but still, the odds of being selected for an actual "prize winning" slot, are slim.
38  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / ASUS 1005PEB (Red) Netbook For Sale **sold** on: July 21, 2010, 03:34:38 PM
Mint condition, had it since February so it is still under warranty. It has the 1.6ghz ATOM N450 Processor, 2GB RAM (it came with 1GB), 250GB 5400RPM HDD, Wireless B/G/N, Original box and documentation, Toshiba external USB DVD Drive/Burner, Case Logic sleeve case, 10.1 in LCD Screen, Windows 7 (with the license), and has fantastic battery life (I have gotten almost 10 hrs before).

I'd like $205 with Priority Mail shipping and Insurance included. Paypal only please.

Dropped the price $25 to $205. I REALLY don't wanna put this on ebay and would prefer to sell it here (fees kill ya on items in this price range) so I am gonna immediately cut the price to hopefully sell it quick.

I suppose beggars can't be choosers, but I finally get some Bad Religion, and that's it?

Quote

Bad Religion – “New Dark Ages”
Bad Religion – “No Control”
The Stooges – “1969”
The Stooges – “I Wanna Be Your Dog”
The Stooges – “No Fun”

Yeah, that's pretty much a joke. BR has so many good songs and those are the ones they pick?

No Infected? No Stranger than Fiction?

Whoever does the songs for RB is a genius 30% of the time and a moron 70% of the time, when it comes to song choices.

MEH, I got tired of having to turn yourself into a 1 vs 100 slave to have any shot of ever having a chance to win anything. It bored me.
