The splash from his left (our right) may have distracted him, but that's no excuse for not realizing that you're grinding the rail!
I can only imagine that since the tube comes in at a bit of a downangle, he bottomed out and popped up at the last second to end up on said rail. That had to hurt at the end there. Everytime I see it, and I can hardly take my eyes off it, I'm surprised by his speed. Eat that, Tony Hawk!
82  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Apple "security"- iPhone: Got r00t? on: July 23, 2007, 12:30:15 PM
The researchers, working for Independent Security Evaluators, a company that tests its clients' computer security by hacking it, said that they could take control of iPhones through a WiFi connection or by tricking users into going to a Web site that contains a malicious code. The hack, the first reported, allowed them to tap the wealth of personal information the phones contain.

Although Apple built considerable security measures into its device, said Charles A. Miller, the principal security analyst for the firm, "Once you did manage to find a hole, you were in complete control." The firm, based in Baltimore, alerted Apple about the vulnerability this week and recommended a software patch that could solve the problem.

Well I got another good one for you....say someone's apt only offers wireless.  Can you take a router and make it connect to the network on wireless and run hard lines to everything?

If so what would be the settings?

Cheaper to buy 1 router then multiple wifi pci cards
You'd need a WAP (wireless access point ~$25) and a router, or a router with wireless built in. You'd need to find the wifi point, and a means of connecting to it (maybe a password or WEP key, etc) The router's WAN port would be plugged into the WAP and would use the wifi network as a gateway. Then it will hand out DHCP from a seperate numbering system (as we discussed above), and it should work but performance will not be great.

A central wifi with many wireless PCs would have better networking performance, but be a large headache in terms of intermittent connectivity (radio frequency interference), security, and still not be very fast.

You can probably get it RMA'd cheaper via the manufacturer, tho maybe not as fast. Did you try a test like MEM386? Move the RAM around to other slots, etc...

It would be considered interference and the pitch would not count and the runners cannot advance. Besides, it was spring training. As for the ASPCA, that was David Winfield because it was an intentional throw at the bird. I don't listen to Rome often, but I am in Arizona and don't recall that Randy was ever in any trouble. He was rather upset about it.

On Aug. 4, 1983, Yankees outfielder Dave Winfield killed a seagull in Toronto with a warmup throw. The Ontario police charged him with animal cruelty, although the charge was later dropped.

I haven't been following the display adapter market too much since things are too expensive for me. I've done some searching, but I'm not seeing anything saying the R800 chipset flopped or sucked. Can you point those out?

Looking at Tom's Hardware, July's best video cards is peppered with cards from both sides of the fence. A good deal of today's games claim they work best with NVidia, and I can perceive the 8800s having a lead these days. I can't back that up, but I hear more chatter about them then anything from ATI. But that's not to say that ATI doesn't have something big down the road.

AMD most likely bought ATI because they could. NVidia is strong as its own company and probably didn't want to be owned as they have a good partnership with Intel. But who knows what Intel does down the road, and all may change. All the competition is good for us because it lowers prices and raises the bar of performance. I'm not a man that measures Frames per Second. I am a man that measures cost vs performance.

But, as SC2 progress from SC1, then SC3 is a natural progression into the I, Robot movie (or as I call it, feature length commercial).
SC1 = 1 robot with good intentions
SC2 = Several robots, some go a little whacko in their quest to do their job, better effects
SC3 = Many robots, better effects, better design, totally whacko...= I, Robot

I'd love a real Mechwarrior franchise, but with the 5 houses and all the splinter groups it'd have to be huge (read: expensive) and unlikely.  icon_frown

Nah, I have a Dell, and the software is easy to disable. Right-click the "Synaptics Pointing device" icon, go to its properties, and you can disable the pad, or the buttons, or both. You can also click the "Disable TouchPad/Stick when a USB pointing device is present" so it will shut itself off when you have a mouse plugged in, but be available if you are out on the road and don't have/can't reach it.
117  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Can I disable my laptop's mouse sensor thingy? Also can I change my video card? on: July 06, 2007, 03:39:58 PM
The mouse certainly has software, or a icon in the taskbar (by the clock) you can kill.

For the video card all I can find was this:
On the Latitude D830 there is a SEPERATE motherboard for systems with integrated graphics and systems with either of the dedicated options. If you purchase a system with integrated and later want to upgrade you'll have to purchase the entire Motherboard. The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard along with the dedicated memory.

So, if you went with the X3100 IGP (Integrated Graphics) then you can't upgrade. If you chose an Nvidia chipset, there's hope.
