1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ninja Gaiden Hurricane Pack is out! on: August 16, 2004, 10:57:47 PM
I've worked about halfway through HP V1. It's tough, but I don't think it's as tough as Very Hard Mode. They've fixed some of the bosses and made them tougher, and the introduction of new enemies is really cool (the cat chicks are tough the first time you face them). Lots of surprises on the way (like ghost fishes really early), and the upgrade costs of a certain weapon has gone through the roof.
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What Xbox games are you looking forward to in 2004/2005? on: June 28, 2004, 07:40:01 PM
Wow, I'm surprised Halo 2 isn't on higher up (or first) on a lot of the lists. It's by far the #1 choice on mine. It's amazing how well the first Halo still holds up, and I still play it regularly (multiplayer and campaign).

There hasn't been too much on the horizon that I'm really excited about. Jade Empire looks interesting, and should be good as I enjoyed KOTOR a lot. Not so sure about KOTOR 2. I really don't know about FABLE....I won't rush out to get it, and I'll wait on the sidelines to see what others think first.  Half-Life 2 and Doom III are other big question marks.

Also, how much does Xbox live cost?

I believe they have a number of different package available starting as low as $30 (a guess). It's a good service, and although I haven't played much on-line lately, I'm looking forward to the on-line play with Halo 2. When you break it down to a monthy cost, I think it's about $6 a month - a bargain IMHO.

VERY excited about Ninja Gaiden if they can only fix the Master Ninja Tournament.....
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ninja Gaide Help (Chapter 11, bug?) on: June 02, 2004, 03:02:35 PM
You get to the trunk the same way you get to the top lever - no special jump combos needed.

I have 3 armlets so far, but I can't really tell what they do.
The armlet of the Sun increases my attack power... Does it give me more damage? How much more? I haven't noticed any difference yet, except maybe the fact that my attacks are blocked less?

The armlet of the Moon increases my defense. How? Do I take less damage? Can I block more attacks?

The armlet of Benevolence I understand. Apparently it gives me 20% more gold, or at least that's what a certain FAQ claimed.

It's hard to tell how much extra damage the Armlet of Sun does, but I'm guessing about 20% more. Same goes with the Armlet of the Moon. If you want to buy an armlet but don't have a lot of cash, I would go for the Armlet of the Sun. I find that it'll generally kill enemies by one less hit (i.e. instead of 5 hits to kill, it'll take four). I don't think the Armlet of the Moon allows you to block more attacks, you just take less damage when you're hit.

When you start playing for karma points (like in the Master Ninja Tournament), the Armlet of the Sun is important, as it lets you kill enemies faster.
6  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ninja Gaiden is just Superb on: May 11, 2004, 07:48:42 PM
It's all good! Master Ninja Tournament starts tomorow! Hope everyone has signed up and ready! This is the only game I've been playing for the past couple months (yah, and those fishies are quite annoying!).

Great job on the re-design!
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ninja Gaiden: What's the deal with Alma? on: May 04, 2004, 03:02:12 AM

I tried her again, and found her much more difficult. It might be a rhythm thing; if you mess with her fighting patterns quick enough you can basically control the battle. If you don't, well, she's *very* capable of handing you death and humiliation.

I agree. In very hard, I had a real doozy of a time with the two tanks and helicopter. Each tank cannon blast would take 3/4 of your health (and they fire much more frequently). By the time I got to the helicopter, I had very little in terms of elixirs/resources.

Alma is one of the tougher bosses in Ninja Gaiden. She cranks it up a notch in Hard and is really tricky in Very Hard. I didn't find her too bad as well as I was well stocked with elixirs. Interestingly, my first time through I had big problems with the Chapter 9 boss, but a lot of it was due to the fact that I had very little in terms of elixirs. When you finish the game, give it a whirl in Hard or Very Hard - I think she'll change your mind  biggrin
