801  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Why do I hate the Hitman series? on: April 11, 2006, 07:38:01 PM
plotwise, i *hate how they wrapped it up at the end of the first game, then made a somewhat plausible excuse for a sequel - then when it really should have ended there, kept going with two more titles.  bleh.

+1 to JasonConan - my comicbook-based game for his dungeons&dragons-based game.  it's like it's still the '80s or something.

813  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Geometry Wars on the PC? on: February 23, 2006, 03:33:32 AM
got it working with both analog sticks on my XBox controller (the original huge one, with a standard USB adapter and the XBCD driver) - it took forever to figure out how to get the right one working.  but it happened, and the control is really great.  it does help a lot to stay alive longer.

815  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / How the fork do I put an .mp3 onto my Razr? on: February 22, 2006, 06:26:01 PM
a V551 has very similar functionality to the RAZR - you can just upload the MP3s via Bluetooth.

817  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Why can't more PC games come in DVD style cases? on: February 19, 2006, 06:53:41 AM
Quote from: "stiffler"
Of course I am willing to bet that with a move to DVD cases we will soon be greeted with a one sheet insert containing install instructions on one side and "here's how to find the PDF manual on the disc" on the other.

with the budget Euro titles, this information will be found on the reverse of the outside liner (yeah, you have to bend the case backwards and remove the liner to read it).

let me know what you want in exchange.   if you should happen to have the PC version, that would be excellent, but XBOX is OK.
823  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / We need a music thread on: January 25, 2006, 09:30:27 PM
Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra - the entire discography, plus the free concerts downloadable from eTree.org:  i never used to be into 'afrofunk', but this NYC band has changed that for me.
824  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / LF: Atari 2600 joysticks/AC adaptor, [PS2] Rumble Roses on: January 19, 2006, 08:09:24 PM
a weird combo, but a friend is in need of Rumble Roses for the PS2. she also acquired an Atari VCS, but it came with no AC adaptor or input devices (no joysticks or paddles). also, the plug coming from the VCS system looks like an RCA plug, and so i assume that a 2600 RF Modulator is needed.

anyways, let me know what you'd want for these, if you have them.
825  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Something I hate about Gamestop on: January 19, 2006, 07:34:18 PM
i wish the US was more like Europe, where media items are NOT shrinkwrapped...  it's just a waste of plastic.

i'd say that almost half of the 'new' games i've acquired over the past 2 years or so have been from the PIFF thread.  :lorax:  so don't close it...

831  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / IGE Banner Ad on: December 17, 2005, 12:47:24 AM
i've never complained about any ad/company before this one.  so what ad banners DO generate revenue?  i assume it's the blinky/flashy, making irritating noise Flash ones, eh?
832  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / IGE Banner Ad on: December 17, 2005, 12:28:06 AM
while a question of 'ethics' would be overstating the matter, and disregarding my personal feelings on MMORPGs... it remains that this is the sort of business i, as a gamer, want no association with.
833  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / How many MMOs are you in right now? on: December 16, 2005, 06:45:37 PM
none... can't stand the things.

835  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Revolution has begun...(IGN chan, specs, launch date?) on: December 07, 2005, 01:53:26 AM
nintendo is still the only console company that is making a profit.   i'm guessing the cheaper-to-produce hardware is one of the contributing factors.

also, the custom control interfaces (DS: dual screen, touch screen - Revolution: special controller) have a bonus side effect of making piracy and emulation much* more difficult.
836  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Not liking Serious Sam... on: December 02, 2005, 03:01:15 AM
Quote from: "unbreakable"
It's uber predictable in that 'ok I'll grab the item and monsters are going to swarm me from all over' kind of way.  It isnt that I dislike FPS games, because I really like them.  It's just this game seems to be missing some intangible something for me.

it's definitely not going to get any better for you, then...  it clicked with me right away, as i could make up my own strategies and mini-games within the very simple 'kill everything and lots of it' framework - but i can see how some people could be turned off by the basic concept.
837  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Not liking Serious Sam... on: December 02, 2005, 01:41:52 AM
try it on hard and see if the pain-in-the-assedness is increased, or is somehow made better...

839  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Not liking Serious Sam... on: December 01, 2005, 09:27:30 AM
play on Normal your first time through.  seriously.  you'll get enough ammo/armor that you don't really have to worry about going through battles unscathed (like i was constantly worrying about) - as for the gameplay itself, you sorta have to be into that kinda thing.  i myself never cared for co-op mode, as you could just keep respawning when you died and that made it boring.
840  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / The GT Pay It Foward Freebies Thread *closing end of 2005* on: November 03, 2005, 06:28:33 AM
well, i do have yet another copy of Tony Hawk 2 that won't work on my computer - guess i could give that away.
