Any further patches/support for Halo?

What were the problems with the netcode on Halo?

What was it like working with Microsoft?  (i understand that Bungee had almost nothing to do with the PC version)

Were they given the Halo 2 porting project?

It scarred you that bad?

that was the purchase that made me go 'why am i paying $45 for one game?'  - especially since my backlog had reached the point of no return a while beforehand and i had no chance of catching up anytime in the near future.  so... it's been the bargain and used bins, ever since.

and re: B&W - i never got very far past the first level, but i really enjoyed that much, at least!

EDIT: thinking back more, i did* actually purchase Dungeon Siege brand-new the next year (?!!) (tho it did have a large rebate attached to it, so i only paid $23 for that title).  needless to say, the coffin was now firmly nailed shut; never again; etc.
807  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Black & White 2 .... on: September 14, 2005, 01:05:45 AM
will get it eventually...  (i haven't purchased a brand-new game since...  since the first B&W, actually)

810  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Do people with Skype Use VoIP? on: August 23, 2005, 06:03:01 PM
mobiles are freakin' expensive...

just wanted to point out this pretty neeeat service i've been using recently:

http://www.voipbuster.com

it's a downloadable VoIP program that lets you call mobiles/landlines in the US, and landlines in some major countries of the world, for extremely low cost (a flat fee of 1 euro for 4 months, right now, as it's in beta).  rates for calling mobiles in other countries is about the same as Skype-Out.

i paid my $1.27 and now i'm making lots of LD and international calls. sometimes the voice quality is rather choppy, but usually it works just fine.

815  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / HOLY CRAP!!! VOLTRON Movie Announced!! on: August 03, 2005, 05:48:24 PM
since we're talking about Voltron, these should be mentioned:

Centibestial King GoLion
Armored Fleet Dairugger XV

(the series from which the 2 cartoons were ripped off from)

the Space Battleship Yamato movies?  i'm a big fan of old anime, but couldn't get through the first one... will have to try again.
816  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Playstation 2 Controller on PC? on: August 02, 2005, 07:20:57 PM
if you plan on playing dance-type games with PS dancepads (like StepMania), the Radioshack adapter is not a good choice.  you can't hit two directions simultaneously.

didn't care for the last two games.  the fun factor was really trashed with the move to 3D, for me.  clunky graphics, horrible interface...

Yeah, sunrocket has been pretty good.

Interesting feature.  Just put your list on aboard and call randomly?  Is there like a random call feature or a profile so that you have some clue who you are going to talk to or is it just a list and you click and say, "hello?"

i don't remember the particulars of how your SkypeMe! mode is displayed to other people (is it in the directory?  elsewhere?), but it's simply a setting one can activate or deactivate (alongside other settings such as Away, Online, Invisible, etc).
820  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What's so interesting about "MUSIC"? on: July 29, 2005, 04:47:53 PM
you probably haven't found the music that's clicked, yet.  more exploration is needed.

So you are saying your a skype to voip convert?

if you have, say, Sunrocket service (which i checked out yesterday and it seems better than either of the two services i listed), that doesn't wholly negate Skype's raisin day entree (ie SkypeMe).  i think they can co-exist.

i should've been a bit clearer - "SkypeMe" mode is a setting on Skype which puts you on the 'call me if you're bored or whatever' list and makes it easier for people to find you.  at the other extreme, you can also choose to not have yourself listed on the directory, and block everyone, if you want.

i've met some cool people (due to their randomly calling me) on Skype.   it's definitely something to try out.
823  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / FS: PS2 + games + etc. **Lower price** on: July 27, 2005, 12:41:11 AM
i have a friend who would be interested in the PS2 by itself, if it were sub-$100.
824  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Do people with Skype Use VoIP? on: July 25, 2005, 07:32:03 PM
i haven't yet purchased minutes through them, although their international calling rates seem to be OK.  i haven't had too much success in getting friends to download the software and keeping it running all the time.  it is a good way to meet random, outgoing people from around the world, certainly (leave SkypeMe mode activated and see where you get calls from...)

i was planning on going through another VoiP provider in lieu of Verizon when i move out of my current place.  Lingo or Voicepulse look to be the best for me (read: cheap).
825  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Do people with Skype Use VoIP? on: July 25, 2005, 07:16:18 AM
just to clarify:

the free service on Skype is limited to calling, or recieving calls from, other people with the software installed on their machine.  all the extras (calling landline or mobile phones, voice mail, et al) cost money.

827  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Impressions: RoboRally re-release on: July 16, 2005, 08:32:24 AM
got a chance to play this tonight with five other people.  i had never played the original, but got enough of an impression on what it was like from other people to know how it played.  according to the other players, the new version is basically a tweaked and better-balanced revision. it plays pretty much the same, almost exactly as i had envisioned it - it's Turtle LOGO with conveyer belts and lasers.

how fun was it?  enough that i purchased my own copy - it's the first board game i've purchased in years.  definitely worth a look - see if your local games store has a demo you can play.

830  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Divine Divinity: what's the final verdict? on: July 11, 2005, 09:26:49 PM
this is the only game i could never get to work on my computer.  it'd randomly crash when entering a building - tried latest patches and allsuggestions listed on the official boards (short of rolling back my ATi driver back to some unspecified version); nothing helped.  it's too bad, as it did look to be pretty good.
831  Gaming / Analog Gaming / New Release: Shadows over Camelot on: July 02, 2005, 08:22:39 AM
played this tonight with three other people:

there's a lot to do - it's one of those cooperative games where it's all the players vs. 'the board', and there's a lot of side-quest mini-games to do, as well as player special abilities.  it was pretty cool at first, but the fun started to diminish when too much strategy was coordinated (even though the cards themselves weren't announced), and one player started telling the other players what to do in order to achieve desired victory conditions in each mini-game - winning is easily achieved when that happens.  it should be noted that we were not playing with loyalty or traitors, so that undoubtedly influenced the difficulty.
832  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Around the World in 80 Days on: July 02, 2005, 08:17:59 AM
tried this out tonight:

it seems to have a lot of potential for little nuances during gameplay, since there are a number of gameplay elements (time passed, position in the world, current turn leader, possession of cash, travel and event cards in hand, the detective marker, the bonus tokens and the randomness of balloon flight) that affect each other in many different ways. will have to give this more time - it looks like it would be much more interesting with more players.

1) is Air/Sea Combat (AKA Target Fun, when it was included with the Sears VCS),

2) is actually Robot Tank by Activision, which is one of my all-time favorite 2600 games,

8) looks like an Activision game, but I don't know which one.
