one of my favorite things about these movies is how the actors portray the characters so well. the overall effect truly captures the feeling of a 'real-life' comic adaptation done right.
The first part of Daywatch gives the impression of how a (good) TV series based on this universe would turn out - too bad that never happened.

i need to find mine - it's somewhere in my parent's basement. KLAX was pretty cool (and the only game that i know of which actually took advantage of the Lynx sound chip). Batman Returns was pretty horrible...

Flatout 1 was crossplatform with the Xbox, whereas 2 was exclusive to the PC. That allowed Bugbear to update it with quite a few things beyond the capabilities of the Xbox - graphics are quite a bit better.
excuse the correction, but the first two FlatOuts *were* available on PS2 and Xbox.

Another day with some good deals. I recommend FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage at $2 for anyone that likes racing games. It's decent but I wouldn't recommend UC or Flatout 2. Check the Steam forums and you'll see many think 2 was the best in the series - there's also far more playing it online .I only played UC on 360, but having played 2 for the past few days I think it's the best in the series. I assume you meant over instead of or? heck, I say pick up all 3 for under 4 bucks and decide from there which one you like the best I actually think the first one is the best

just completed tonight; this is significant because i almost never finish any game. it has been pretty much the only DS title i've played over the past 11 months, and probably makes my 'all-time favorites' list (despite the doofy plot, characters and dialog - but those are just superficial decoration). i've shown this game to several other people, two of which purchased and completed it right away. it was great fun and i'll still be battling against my friends who also own it. i'll be looking forward to a sequel.

i love the atmosphere ... presentation in concept, graphics, sound and physics are all really well-done. god help you if your mouse isn't up to the task, however. stuck on the second level! i'm thinking a trackball would help out a lot.
this is probably the first game i've seen to support multiple mice since... Lemmings on the Amiga?

rice-in-a-bag actually helped a bit. still a fair quantity of water behind the screen (and some worrisome-looking light diagonal 'streaks' in the screen), so before leaving work each day, i'm now sealing the laptop with a rice bowl in a garbage bag on my desk overnight, and will continue doing so for as long as necessary.

yeah, it's a unibody MacBook.
I left the computer on with a few towels around it and running infinite python and shell scripts today. the system temperature widget read that was getting around 71C at times. i've now got the Mac sealed in a garbage bag and an open jar of uncooked rice. i am worrying about sediment being left behind the glass.

yeah, so a water bottle in my backpack leaked and got all over my work's MacBook Pro. the machine was in sleep mode and when i attempted to power it down, i noticed the large quantity of water behind the screen glass but the machine itself was operating normally. i managed to get it to power down and immediately turned the laptop on its side over a central air vent at a friend's house and am leaving it there overnight. what else should be done for this? i had read about leaving it in an airtight bag with several cups of dried rice (!) to absorb the moisture. i have a few large desiccant gel packs also... also read about removing the back of the screen to let it airdry better.

AMD finally issued an RMA for my processor and it's now packed, boxed and in a shippable state - will drop off at FedEx on Monday during my lunch break. they were nice enough to spring for postage both ways.
i'm thinking that since i'm going to have to re-install the processor, re-apply thermal compound and re-install the fan, i might want to replace the stock CPU cooler i had been using with a more powerful fan. is this even necessary, and if so, what would be a decent choice for an AMD Phenom II X4 925?

such as RE5 not having proper lighting on the PC. But then again, they've usually gone back and fixed any such problems.
are you thinking of RE4 and its missing shaders? Resident Evil 5 was exactly the same as the PS3 and X360 versions, as the console versions were developed on the PC-based " MT Framework" engine. (this is also applicable to Dead Rising 2, Devil May Cry IV and the Lost Planet series)

Update: I wrote AMD with a description of my problem. Here is the response: Your service request has been reviewed and updated. Response and Service Request History: Thankyou for contacting AMD. According to the specifications for the Phenom II line found here: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/phenom-ii/Pages/phenom-ii-key-architectural-features.aspx DDR3-1333 is the highest supported memory type. The issues that you are experiencing are due to a damaged memory controller on the processor from running it with DDR3-1600. This is why going to 1333 RAM isn't showing any improved results. Your best option at this point is to return the processor to your retailer for a replacement. If they are unable to assist you, you can contact us again for an RMA, so long as you have a valid warranty. OK, i had been completely and utterly unaware that running the 1600 speed memory at 1600 speeds on a Phenom II WOULD FREAKIN DAMAGE THE CPU'S MEMORY CONTROLLER! nothing in my investigatings and queryings (including from here) had revealed that this was at all a risk, nor was this ever pointed out to me. is AMD feeding me a line, or did the interwebs fail me?

Is it just me who didn't get sucked into the kings bounty series. I tried the demo for the first game, found the combat confusing and never retried. Am I missing something or is it that type of game which won't appeal to all tastes. I always feel that I'm missing something by not playing this game!
i felt the same way at first. stick with it and the treasures will be revealed . . .

yeah, you need a) employee sponsorship, b) some sort of marriage proposal, c) asylum from a brutal dictatorship or d) sufficiently high or in-demand job abilities/skills. don't expect to be let in the country otherwise.

Check bios to insure proper voltages and speeds? A lot of ram seems to exhibit issues with not defaulting properly.
In particular, if it IS defaulting to the proper speed/voltage... try slowing it down and see if the errors go away. At which point you can call A-Data and howl at them about selling you faulty product that doesn't perform as advertised, as opposed to a situation where they tell you you nuked the ram installing it :/
Atomic
they currently *are* underclocked (running at 1333 instead of the spec'd 1600) - i can run 4GB at 1600 (and weirdly enough, no errors in MemTest are displayed with the faulty memory when run at this speed), but when i try 8GB i get a BIOS warning message stating that the boot failed due to overclocking. i then attempted to adjust the timings from Auto to 8-8-8-24 and boosting the voltage all the way up to 1.64, but the same error appears. if i use those new settings and drop the timing back to 1333, then it boots, but still shows errors in MemTest. frustrating.

Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / my replacement memory to replace my failed memory failed [update: or not...?]

This is regarding my PC build in this thread (actual build here: http://www.gamingtrend.com/forums/index.php?topic=38662.msg682681#msg682681). I purchased an additional set of the RAM I had already ( A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-2G). This set, when installed, caused Win7 to BSOD immediately upon booting. MemTest86+ started spewing errors immediately upon running. I RMA'd the RAM with newegg and got a replacement set. The replacements seemed to work OK for a while and displayed no errors in MemTest. However, when I started playing games, I would get interesting issues such as King's Bounty crashing to desktop (a game which had never exhibited any sort of stability problem before this). When I had left the system off for a few days and powered it back on, it would BSOD a few minutes after booting into Windows. A second MemTest displayed nothing, but Windows Memory Test displayed error messages. A *third* run through MemTest finally started displaying errors. Since I'm now outside of newegg's 30-day return window, I just contacted A-DATA on their website to see if I can get support through them. I have removed my older set of memory and installed this set into the first two banks of the motherboard by itself - still displays errors. I do wish to mention that I have an older set of this memory purchased back in April that has given me no problems, displays no errors in MemTest86+ running overnight several times, and has worked well so far. I take great care in installing the RAM, like using an anti-static wristband, not handing the RAM by the contacts or dropping it and supporting the mobo so it doesn't flex too much when the RAM is installed. Is it outside the realm of possibility that the second set of memory banks in the motherboard itself is damaging the RAM? If/when A-DATA sends me a new set, I'm going to install that into the first set of banks and my original trouble-free RAM into the second set of banks. I'm going to be *highly* annoyed if that could be the issue...

when plugging in headphones directly into the audio output cables (with the adapter) what's the best way to adjust the volume?
i use a component-to-VGA converter box, since i got one for free. the component cables plug into the box, and the monitor VGA cable plugs into the output side. i only get 480 since the monitor is oooold, but it works fine.
