Check out your nearest Target.  They had this on their clearance shelves for a while for under 20 bucks (i think it was more like 10 bucks at one point) and it was the gold edition with the expansion.  If I see a copy, I'll let you know in case you want it.

Also, your personal note mentions the Samsung 4266W.  that's the same damn tv i have.  good and cheap.   icon_biggrin

Ouch, 29% at Rottentomatoes .  I'm an X-Files fan from way back.  However, I've always believed that Chris Carter had a good idea, but was just an awful, awful writer.  The only moments from the series that really shine for me are the self-contained monster episodes that he DIDN'T write.  When I saw that he was going to be one of the writers for the new movie, I kind of suspected it was going to be bad.  Then I started seeing some posts on various boards stating that it was really just a mess of a film.

I do believe this is the last we'll see of Scully and Mulder, unfortunately.   icon_cry

ditto for the level design complaints.  it really does become "same old, same old" after a few hours in the area of exploration.  the gameplay is fun though, and the story starts off strong only to limp to the finish line towards the end of the game.  hopefully the sequel fleshes it out and makes it more interesting.

You can put 75 hours into Oblivion (+40 for the PC version) but you complain about "same old" in a 10 hour FPS? slywink Tongue

In my 75 hours into Oblivion (+40 for the PC version) I don't recall being forced to spend 50 percent of it in a garage and the other 50 percent in office cubicles.  In Oblivion, if I didn't like the scenery, I could turn left, right, go forward or go backwards and I'd soon find something different.  In FEAR, I could go foward or I could go...well...forward.   icon_razz

I have to ask: How do some of you log so much time into Oblivion? I understand that, technically, there is a wealth of content which would take hundreds of hours to go through. However, I noticed when playing that many of the quests and the locations they took place in were nearly carbon copies of eachother with minor differences. I love exploring in games, but the point of exploring is to discover new things, whereas in Oblivion it felt like I was just discovering more of the same things. What keeps you going through this repetition of similar content?

i kind of agree with you on the issue of "sameness" in the game when it comes to dungeons and such, but the number of really good quests with great stories made that shortcoming less an issue for me.  Plus, i've had the game for years now (bought the CE the day it came out  icon_wink), so i've had time to take a break from it, return to it, rinse, repeat.  i honestly don't see myself every trading this one in.

and when i noted the 75 hours i put into it, i forgot to add the 40 or so hours i've put into the PC version I picked up after I found it on sale at a Target a while back.  needed to play the game with mods, you see.  icon_smile

Add Splinter Cell Double Agent to my list of BC games I've played without problems. To be fair I have only completed the 1st 2 levels, but so far not a single issue. And man does it look nice for an Xbox game! If it wasn't for the occasional slightly more noticeable aliasing I'd swear it was a 360 game. I wish I still had my Xbox so I could draw a comparison, but I'm guessing it wouldn't look quite as good on the original. It also helps that it's panning out to be a heckuva good SC game.  slywink

do you mean "Chaos Theory"?  Double Agent is actually available as a 360 game.

Totally, 100% a joke that people are reliably incensed here.

I thought you were going for a joke mocking another thread where someone got hopping mad because someone asked a question on the forum instead of just doing a Google search.  And that you were trying to do some kind of confusing double entendre thing by referring him to the GT forums instead of Google, reaching some kind of irony because that was where he did ask his question.

Once i realized it was supposed to be a joke, I naturally assumed it was a jab at the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in England.  But then I realized that his use of lowercase in the word "fucking" contradicted that assumpion and that that couldn't be it.  I then guessed that he was lampooning British rule in India from the years 1776 to 1947, but upon a second reading I realized that he'd used an incomplete sentence to start the post, so that ruined that explanation.  Eventually I just realized that he was making the leap that the word "incense" could include a "d" at the end, thereby changing the meaning to a very different one than the original poster intended.

At that point, the tequila started to wear off though, and I lost interest and stumbled off after a housefly.

Just picked up the box set of Comedy Central's TV Funhouse that was released today.  it's from the guy who does the cartoons on SNL as well as the man behind Triumph the Insult Dog, Robert Smigel.

On the surface, it was a "kid's show" that featured some of the funniest damn cartoon characters I've ever seen on television.  My favorite was always "Wonderman" .  A Superhero who spent all his time trying to get his alter ego laid.

I completely and utterly disagree.  The final fate of Two Face was essential to the Joker's storyline.

I felt that the mere act of turning Harvey into Two Face was resolution enough for The Joker's storyline. He triumphed in corrupting Harvey, and the extent of that corruption could be played out in another movie. What I didn't like is Two Face's activities after he got out of the hospital - it seemed like an extremely rushed story arc for another villain. "Hey I'm Two Face! Let me quickly do some bad stuff and oh nos, I fell off a building and now I'm dead kthxbye."

However, as it stands I kind of hope that Two Face is indeed dead. Another movie featuring him would just make me pissed that they tried to cram so much of him into the last fifth of this one.

There's no way that Nolan could have shown the Joker's victory over Dent's incorruptible world view without displaying the depths of immorality that Dent was willing to explore after Rachel's death and his own disfigurement.  Playing it out in a sequel would have lessened that victory considerably.  It would have left the audience believing that the external scars were the joker's ultimate goal, when it was the internal ones that were the true prize.

When Dent threatened to kill Gordon's young son, that was the moment that The Joker had won.

Quote
I was wondering why they bothered giving Gordon a son that (AFAIK) he never had in the comics ?

Any other comic-nerds think it was a bit weird that Gordon's daughter (aka future Batgirl) got absolutely no face time?

I mean, I can understand if they decide never to introduce Batgirl into the new franchise.  The character's whole concept is a bit corny, anyway.  But it was like they went out of their way to make sure that the actress's face is never on-screen.  Even during the kidnapping, you only see like a third of her face for a fraction of a second.

It struck me as a little odd, especially given that Gordon's wife and son both got a few scenes.

i don't think they went out of their way to avoid showing her face so much as she was so inconsequential to the story that showing a close up of a table would have held as much significance to the story.

I read an interview with Anthony Michael Hall just prior to The Dark Knight in which he kept saying, "Well, some folks are saying I'm going to be the new Riddler, but I haven't been told this by anyone from the studios."  Which I took to mean, "My God, I want the Riddler part.  I'm not above pullling a Sean Young and appearing on television in a homemade Riddler outfit if it means they'll give me a job!".
